بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.
83:1
وَيْلٌ لِّلْمُطَفِّفِينَ
83:2
ٱلَّذِينَ إِذَا ٱكْتَالُوا۟ عَلَى ٱلنَّاسِ يَسْتَوْفُونَ
83:2
Hasan al-Fatih Qaribullah and Ahmad Darwish (English) :
who, when people measure for them, take full measure,
83:3
وَإِذَا كَالُوهُمْ أَو وَّزَنُوهُمْ يُخْسِرُونَ
83:3
Hasan al-Fatih Qaribullah and Ahmad Darwish (English) :
but when they measure or weigh for others, they reduce!
83:4
أَلَا يَظُنُّ أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ أَنَّهُم مَّبْعُوثُونَ
83:4
Hasan al-Fatih Qaribullah and Ahmad Darwish (English) :
Do they not think that they will be resurrected
83:5
لِيَوْمٍ عَظِيمٍ
83:6
يَوْمَ يَقُومُ ٱلنَّاسُ لِرَبِّ ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ
83:6

the Day when people will stand before the Lord of the Worlds?
83:7
كَلَّآ إِنَّ كِتَـٰبَ ٱلْفُجَّارِ لَفِى سِجِّينٍ
83:7
Hasan al-Fatih Qaribullah and Ahmad Darwish (English) :
No indeed, the Book of the immoral is in Sijjeen.
83:8
وَمَآ أَدْرَىٰكَ مَا سِجِّينٌ
83:8
Hasan al-Fatih Qaribullah and Ahmad Darwish (English) :
What could let you know what the Sijjeen is!
83:9
كِتَـٰبٌ مَّرْقُومٌ
83:10
وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ
83:10
Hasan al-Fatih Qaribullah and Ahmad Darwish (English) :
Woe on that Day to those who belied it,
83:11
ٱلَّذِينَ يُكَذِّبُونَ بِيَوْمِ ٱلدِّينِ
83:12
وَمَا يُكَذِّبُ بِهِۦٓ إِلَّا كُلُّ مُعْتَدٍ أَثِيمٍ
83:12
Hasan al-Fatih Qaribullah and Ahmad Darwish (English) :
None belies it except every guilty sinner.
83:13
إِذَا تُتْلَىٰ عَلَيْهِ ءَايَـٰتُنَا قَالَ أَسَـٰطِيرُ ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ
83:13
Hasan al-Fatih Qaribullah and Ahmad Darwish (English) :
When Our verses are recited to him, he says: 'Fictitious tales of the ancients'
83:14
كَلَّا ۖ بَلْ ۜ رَانَ عَلَىٰ قُلُوبِهِم مَّا كَانُوا۟ يَكْسِبُونَ
83:14
Hasan al-Fatih Qaribullah and Ahmad Darwish (English) :
No indeed! Their own deeds have cast a veil over their hearts.
83:15
كَلَّآ إِنَّهُمْ عَن رَّبِّهِمْ يَوْمَئِذٍ لَّمَحْجُوبُونَ
83:15
Hasan al-Fatih Qaribullah and Ahmad Darwish (English) :
No indeed, on that Day they shall be veiled from their Lord.
83:16
ثُمَّ إِنَّهُمْ لَصَالُوا۟ ٱلْجَحِيمِ
83:17
ثُمَّ يُقَالُ هَـٰذَا ٱلَّذِى كُنتُم بِهِۦ تُكَذِّبُونَ
83:17

and it will be said to them: 'This is that which you belied'
83:18
كَلَّآ إِنَّ كِتَـٰبَ ٱلْأَبْرَارِ لَفِى عِلِّيِّينَ
83:18
Hasan al-Fatih Qaribullah and Ahmad Darwish (English) :
But, the Book of the righteous is in the 'Illiyoon.
83:19
وَمَآ أَدْرَىٰكَ مَا عِلِّيُّونَ
83:19
Hasan al-Fatih Qaribullah and Ahmad Darwish (English) :
What could let you know what the 'Illiyoon is!
83:20
كِتَـٰبٌ مَّرْقُومٌ
83:21
يَشْهَدُهُ ٱلْمُقَرَّبُونَ
83:21
Hasan al-Fatih Qaribullah and Ahmad Darwish (English) :
witnessed by those who are near (to Allah).
83:22
إِنَّ ٱلْأَبْرَارَ لَفِى نَعِيمٍ
83:22
Hasan al-Fatih Qaribullah and Ahmad Darwish (English) :
The righteous shall indeed be blissful,
83:23
عَلَى ٱلْأَرَآئِكِ يَنظُرُونَ
83:23
Hasan al-Fatih Qaribullah and Ahmad Darwish (English) :
(reclining) upon couches they will gaze,
83:24
تَعْرِفُ فِى وُجُوهِهِمْ نَضْرَةَ ٱلنَّعِيمِ
83:24
Hasan al-Fatih Qaribullah and Ahmad Darwish (English) :
and in their faces you shall know the radiance of bliss.
83:25
يُسْقَوْنَ مِن رَّحِيقٍ مَّخْتُومٍ
83:25
Hasan al-Fatih Qaribullah and Ahmad Darwish (English) :
They shall be given to drink of a wine that is sealed,
83:26
خِتَـٰمُهُۥ مِسْكٌ ۚ وَفِى ذَٰلِكَ فَلْيَتَنَافَسِ ٱلْمُتَنَـٰفِسُونَ
83:26
Hasan al-Fatih Qaribullah and Ahmad Darwish (English) :
its seal is musk, for this let the competitors compete;
83:27
وَمِزَاجُهُۥ مِن تَسْنِيمٍ
83:28
عَيْنًا يَشْرَبُ بِهَا ٱلْمُقَرَّبُونَ
83:28
Hasan al-Fatih Qaribullah and Ahmad Darwish (English) :
a fountain at which those brought near (to their Lord) drink.
83:29
إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ أَجْرَمُوا۟ كَانُوا۟ مِنَ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ يَضْحَكُونَ
83:30
وَإِذَا مَرُّوا۟ بِهِمْ يَتَغَامَزُونَ
83:30

and winked at one another as they passed them by.
83:31
وَإِذَا ٱنقَلَبُوٓا۟ إِلَىٰٓ أَهْلِهِمُ ٱنقَلَبُوا۟ فَكِهِينَ
83:31
Hasan al-Fatih Qaribullah and Ahmad Darwish (English) :
When they returned to their people they returned jesting;
83:32
وَإِذَا رَأَوْهُمْ قَالُوٓا۟ إِنَّ هَـٰٓؤُلَآءِ لَضَآلُّونَ
83:32
Hasan al-Fatih Qaribullah and Ahmad Darwish (English) :
and when they saw them said: 'These are they who are astray'
83:33
وَمَآ أُرْسِلُوا۟ عَلَيْهِمْ حَـٰفِظِينَ
83:33
Hasan al-Fatih Qaribullah and Ahmad Darwish (English) :
Yet they were not sent to be their guardians.
83:34
فَٱلْيَوْمَ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ مِنَ ٱلْكُفَّارِ يَضْحَكُونَ
83:34

But on this Day the believers will laugh at the unbelievers
83:35
عَلَى ٱلْأَرَآئِكِ يَنظُرُونَ
83:35
Hasan al-Fatih Qaribullah and Ahmad Darwish (English) :
as they (recline) upon their couches and gaze (around them).
83:36
هَلْ ثُوِّبَ ٱلْكُفَّارُ مَا كَانُوا۟ يَفْعَلُونَ
83:36
