Transliteration
Wahiduddin Khan
بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.
70:1
سَأَلَ سَآئِلٌۢ بِعَذَابٍ وَاقِعٍ
70:1
A doubter once demanded that punishment be immediately meted out, - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
70:2
لِّلْكَـٰفِرِينَ لَيْسَ لَهُۥ دَافِعٌ
70:2
to those who deny the truth. No power can hinder God - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
70:3
مِّنَ ٱللَّهِ ذِى ٱلْمَعَارِجِ
70:3
from punishing them. He is the Lord of the Ascending Stairways, - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
70:4
تَعْرُجُ ٱلْمَلَـٰٓئِكَةُ وَٱلرُّوحُ إِلَيْهِ فِى يَوْمٍ كَانَ مِقْدَارُهُۥ خَمْسِينَ أَلْفَ سَنَةٍ
70:4
by which the angels and the Spirit will ascend to Him in one Day which will last for fifty thousand years. - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
70:5
فَٱصْبِرْ صَبْرًا جَمِيلًا
70:5
Therefore, [O believers] behave with seemly patience. - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
70:6
إِنَّهُمْ يَرَوْنَهُۥ بَعِيدًا
70:6
They see it [the Day of Judgement] to be far off, - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
70:7
وَنَرَىٰهُ قَرِيبًا
70:7
but We see it near at hand. - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
70:8
يَوْمَ تَكُونُ ٱلسَّمَآءُ كَٱلْمُهْلِ
70:8
On that Day the heavens shall become like molten brass, - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
70:9
وَتَكُونُ ٱلْجِبَالُ كَٱلْعِهْنِ
70:9
and the mountains will become like tufts of wool, - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
70:10
وَلَا يَسْـَٔلُ حَمِيمٌ حَمِيمًا
70:10
and no friend will ask about his friend, - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
70:11
يُبَصَّرُونَهُمْ ۚ يَوَدُّ ٱلْمُجْرِمُ لَوْ يَفْتَدِى مِنْ عَذَابِ يَوْمِئِذٍۭ بِبَنِيهِ
70:11
though they shall be within sight of each other. The guilty one will gladly ransom himself from the torment of that Day by sacrificing his own children, - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
70:12
وَصَـٰحِبَتِهِۦ وَأَخِيهِ
70:12
his wife, his brother, - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
70:13
وَفَصِيلَتِهِ ٱلَّتِى تُـْٔوِيهِ
70:13
and his kinsfolk who gave him shelter, - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
70:14
وَمَن فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ جَمِيعًا ثُمَّ يُنجِيهِ
70:14
and all the people of the earth, if that could deliver him. - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
70:15
كَلَّآ ۖ إِنَّهَا لَظَىٰ
70:15
But no! There is a raging blaze - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
70:16
نَزَّاعَةً لِّلشَّوَىٰ
70:16
stripping away his skin, - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
70:17
تَدْعُوا۟ مَنْ أَدْبَرَ وَتَوَلَّىٰ
70:17
and it will claim all those who turned their backs [on the true faith] and turned away [from the truth], - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
70:18
وَجَمَعَ فَأَوْعَىٰٓ
70:18
and amassed wealth and hoarded it. - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
70:19
۞ إِنَّ ٱلْإِنسَـٰنَ خُلِقَ هَلُوعًا
70:19
Indeed, man is born impatient: - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
70:20
إِذَا مَسَّهُ ٱلشَّرُّ جَزُوعًا
70:20
when misfortune touches him he starts lamenting, - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
70:21
وَإِذَا مَسَّهُ ٱلْخَيْرُ مَنُوعًا
70:21
and whenever good fortune comes to him, he grows niggardly. - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
70:22
إِلَّا ٱلْمُصَلِّينَ
70:22
But not so the worshippers - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
70:23
ٱلَّذِينَ هُمْ عَلَىٰ صَلَاتِهِمْ دَآئِمُونَ
70:23
who are steadfast in prayer; - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
70:24
وَٱلَّذِينَ فِىٓ أَمْوَٰلِهِمْ حَقٌّ مَّعْلُومٌ
70:24
those who give a due share of their wealth - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
70:25
لِّلسَّآئِلِ وَٱلْمَحْرُومِ
70:25
to those who ask [for help] and to the destitute; - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
70:26
وَٱلَّذِينَ يُصَدِّقُونَ بِيَوْمِ ٱلدِّينِ
70:26
and those who believe in the Day of Judgement - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
70:27
وَٱلَّذِينَ هُم مِّنْ عَذَابِ رَبِّهِم مُّشْفِقُونَ
70:27
and are fearful of the punishment of their Lord; - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
70:28
إِنَّ عَذَابَ رَبِّهِمْ غَيْرُ مَأْمُونٍ
70:28
for none may ever feel secure from the punishment of their Lord; - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
70:29
وَٱلَّذِينَ هُمْ لِفُرُوجِهِمْ حَـٰفِظُونَ
70:29
those who preserve their chastity - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
70:30
إِلَّا عَلَىٰٓ أَزْوَٰجِهِمْ أَوْ مَا مَلَكَتْ أَيْمَـٰنُهُمْ فَإِنَّهُمْ غَيْرُ مَلُومِينَ
70:30
except from their spouses and those whom they rightfully possess [through wedlock], for which they incur no blame -- - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
70:31
فَمَنِ ٱبْتَغَىٰ وَرَآءَ ذَٰلِكَ فَأُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ هُمُ ٱلْعَادُونَ
70:31
but those who go beyond that limit are transgressors; - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
70:32
وَٱلَّذِينَ هُمْ لِأَمَـٰنَـٰتِهِمْ وَعَهْدِهِمْ رَٰعُونَ
70:32
and those who are faithful to their trusts and to their pledges; - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
70:33
وَٱلَّذِينَ هُم بِشَهَـٰدَٰتِهِمْ قَآئِمُونَ
70:33
and those who stand by their testimony - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
70:34
وَٱلَّذِينَ هُمْ عَلَىٰ صَلَاتِهِمْ يُحَافِظُونَ
70:34
and are steadfast in their prayers. - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
70:35
أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ فِى جَنَّـٰتٍ مُّكْرَمُونَ
70:35
They will be honoured in the Gardens of Bliss. - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
70:36
فَمَالِ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ قِبَلَكَ مُهْطِعِينَ
70:36
But what is the matter with those who deny the truth, that they come hastening towards you - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
70:37
عَنِ ٱلْيَمِينِ وَعَنِ ٱلشِّمَالِ عِزِينَ
70:37
from the right and from the left, in crowds? - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
70:38
أَيَطْمَعُ كُلُّ ٱمْرِئٍ مِّنْهُمْ أَن يُدْخَلَ جَنَّةَ نَعِيمٍ
70:38
Does every one of them aspire to be admitted into a Garden of Delight? - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
70:39
كَلَّآ ۖ إِنَّا خَلَقْنَـٰهُم مِّمَّا يَعْلَمُونَ
70:39
Certainly not! They know quite well out of what We created them. - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
70:40
فَلَآ أُقْسِمُ بِرَبِّ ٱلْمَشَـٰرِقِ وَٱلْمَغَـٰرِبِ إِنَّا لَقَـٰدِرُونَ
70:40
But nay! I call to witness the Lord of the Easts and the Wests, that We have the power - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
70:41
عَلَىٰٓ أَن نُّبَدِّلَ خَيْرًا مِّنْهُمْ وَمَا نَحْنُ بِمَسْبُوقِينَ
70:41
to replace them with others better than them: nothing can prevent Us from doing this, - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
70:42
فَذَرْهُمْ يَخُوضُوا۟ وَيَلْعَبُوا۟ حَتَّىٰ يُلَـٰقُوا۟ يَوْمَهُمُ ٱلَّذِى يُوعَدُونَ
70:42
so leave them to indulge in vain idle talk and amuse themselves, until they face the Day which they have been promised, - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
70:43
يَوْمَ يَخْرُجُونَ مِنَ ٱلْأَجْدَاثِ سِرَاعًا كَأَنَّهُمْ إِلَىٰ نُصُبٍ يُوفِضُونَ
70:43
the Day when they shall come out of their graves in haste, as if they were racing to a goal, - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
70:44
خَـٰشِعَةً أَبْصَـٰرُهُمْ تَرْهَقُهُمْ ذِلَّةٌ ۚ ذَٰلِكَ ٱلْيَوْمُ ٱلَّذِى كَانُوا۟ يُوعَدُونَ
70:44
with downcast eyes and faces distorted in shame; such is the Day which they are promised. - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
