بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.

89:1 وَٱلْفَجْرِ
89:1

By the Dawn,

89:2 وَلَيَالٍ عَشْرٍ
89:2

by the ten nights,

89:3 وَٱلشَّفْعِ وَٱلْوَتْرِ
89:3

by the Even and the Odd,

89:4 وَٱلَّيْلِ إِذَا يَسْرِ
89:4
Ali Quli Qarai (English) :
by the night when it departs!

89:5 هَلْ فِى ذَٰلِكَ قَسَمٌ لِّذِى حِجْرٍ
89:5
Ali Quli Qarai (English) :
Is there an oath in that for one possessing intellect?

89:6 أَلَمْ تَرَ كَيْفَ فَعَلَ رَبُّكَ بِعَادٍ
89:6
Ali Quli Qarai (English) :
Have you not regarded how your Lord dealt with [the people of] ‘Ad,

89:7 إِرَمَ ذَاتِ ٱلْعِمَادِ
89:7
Ali Quli Qarai (English) :
[and] Iram, [the city] of the pillars,

89:8 ٱلَّتِى لَمْ يُخْلَقْ مِثْلُهَا فِى ٱلْبِلَـٰدِ
89:8
Ali Quli Qarai (English) :
the like of which was not created among cities,

89:9 وَثَمُودَ ٱلَّذِينَ جَابُوا۟ ٱلصَّخْرَ بِٱلْوَادِ
89:9
Ali Quli Qarai (English) :
and [the people of] Thamud, who hollowed out the rocks in the valley,

89:10 وَفِرْعَوْنَ ذِى ٱلْأَوْتَادِ
89:10
Ali Quli Qarai (English) :
and Pharaoh, the impaler

89:11 ٱلَّذِينَ طَغَوْا۟ فِى ٱلْبِلَـٰدِ
89:11
Ali Quli Qarai (English) :
—those who rebelled [against Allah] in their cities

89:12 فَأَكْثَرُوا۟ فِيهَا ٱلْفَسَادَ
89:12
Ali Quli Qarai (English) :
and caused much corruption in them,

89:13 فَصَبَّ عَلَيْهِمْ رَبُّكَ سَوْطَ عَذَابٍ
89:13
Ali Quli Qarai (English) :
so your Lord poured on them lashes of punishment.

89:14 إِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَبِٱلْمِرْصَادِ
89:14
Ali Quli Qarai (English) :
Indeed your Lord is in ambush.

89:15 فَأَمَّا ٱلْإِنسَـٰنُ إِذَا مَا ٱبْتَلَىٰهُ رَبُّهُۥ فَأَكْرَمَهُۥ وَنَعَّمَهُۥ فَيَقُولُ رَبِّىٓ أَكْرَمَنِ
89:15
Ali Quli Qarai (English) :
As for man, whenever his Lord tests him, and grants him honour, and blesses him, he says, ‘My Lord has honoured me.’

89:16 وَأَمَّآ إِذَا مَا ٱبْتَلَىٰهُ فَقَدَرَ عَلَيْهِ رِزْقَهُۥ فَيَقُولُ رَبِّىٓ أَهَـٰنَنِ
89:16
Ali Quli Qarai (English) :
But when He tests him and tightens for him his provision, he says, ‘My Lord has humiliated me.’

89:17 كَلَّا ۖ بَل لَّا تُكْرِمُونَ ٱلْيَتِيمَ
89:17
Ali Quli Qarai (English) :
No indeed! No, you do not honour the orphan,

89:18 وَلَا تَحَـٰٓضُّونَ عَلَىٰ طَعَامِ ٱلْمِسْكِينِ
89:18
Ali Quli Qarai (English) :
and do not urge the feeding of the needy.

89:19 وَتَأْكُلُونَ ٱلتُّرَاثَ أَكْلًا لَّمًّا
89:19
Ali Quli Qarai (English) :
You eat the inheritance rapaciously,

89:20 وَتُحِبُّونَ ٱلْمَالَ حُبًّا جَمًّا
89:20
Ali Quli Qarai (English) :
and love wealth with much fondness.

89:21 كَلَّآ إِذَا دُكَّتِ ٱلْأَرْضُ دَكًّا دَكًّا
89:21
Ali Quli Qarai (English) :
No indeed! When the earth is levelled to a plain,

89:22 وَجَآءَ رَبُّكَ وَٱلْمَلَكُ صَفًّا صَفًّا
89:22
Ali Quli Qarai (English) :
and your Lord [’s edict] arrives with the angels in ranks,

89:23 وَجِا۟ىٓءَ يَوْمَئِذٍۭ بِجَهَنَّمَ ۚ يَوْمَئِذٍ يَتَذَكَّرُ ٱلْإِنسَـٰنُ وَأَنَّىٰ لَهُ ٱلذِّكْرَىٰ
89:23
Ali Quli Qarai (English) :
the day when hell is brought [near], man will take admonition on that day, but what will that admonition avail him?

89:24 يَقُولُ يَـٰلَيْتَنِى قَدَّمْتُ لِحَيَاتِى
89:24
Ali Quli Qarai (English) :
He will say, ‘Alas, had I sent ahead for my life [in the Hereafter]!’

89:25 فَيَوْمَئِذٍ لَّا يُعَذِّبُ عَذَابَهُۥٓ أَحَدٌ
89:25
Ali Quli Qarai (English) :
On that day none shall punish as He punishes,

89:26 وَلَا يُوثِقُ وَثَاقَهُۥٓ أَحَدٌ
89:26
Ali Quli Qarai (English) :
and none shall bind as He binds.

89:27 يَـٰٓأَيَّتُهَا ٱلنَّفْسُ ٱلْمُطْمَئِنَّةُ
89:27
Ali Quli Qarai (English) :
‘O soul at peace!

89:28 ٱرْجِعِىٓ إِلَىٰ رَبِّكِ رَاضِيَةً مَّرْضِيَّةً
89:28
Ali Quli Qarai (English) :
Return to your Lord, pleased and pleasing!

89:29 فَٱدْخُلِى فِى عِبَـٰدِى
89:29
Ali Quli Qarai (English) :
Then enter among My servants,

89:30 وَٱدْخُلِى جَنَّتِى
89:30
Ali Quli Qarai (English) :
and enter My paradise!’
