Transliteration
Wahiduddin Khan
                    بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ
                
                
                    In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.
                
            
                    89:1
                    وَٱلْفَجْرِ
                
                
                
                
                
                    89:1
                    By the Dawn,  - Ali Quli Qarai (English)
                
                
                
                
                
                    89:2
                    وَلَيَالٍ عَشْرٍ
                
                
                
                
                
                    89:2
                    by the ten nights,  - Ali Quli Qarai (English)
                
                
                
                
                
                    89:3
                    وَٱلشَّفْعِ وَٱلْوَتْرِ
                
                
                
                
                
                    89:3
                    by the Even and the Odd,  - Ali Quli Qarai (English)
                
                
                
                
                
                    89:4
                    وَٱلَّيْلِ إِذَا يَسْرِ
                
                
                
                
                
                    89:4
                    by the night when it departs!  - Ali Quli Qarai (English)
                
                
                
                
                
                    89:5
                    هَلْ فِى ذَٰلِكَ قَسَمٌ لِّذِى حِجْرٍ
                
                
                
                
                
                    89:5
                    Is there an oath in that for one possessing intellect?  - Ali Quli Qarai (English)
                
                
                
                
                
                    89:6
                    أَلَمْ تَرَ كَيْفَ فَعَلَ رَبُّكَ بِعَادٍ
                
                
                
                
                
                    89:6
                    Have you not regarded how your Lord dealt with [the people of] ‘Ad,  - Ali Quli Qarai (English)
                
                
                
                
                
                    89:7
                    إِرَمَ ذَاتِ ٱلْعِمَادِ
                
                
                
                
                
                    89:7
                    [and] Iram, [the city] of the pillars,  - Ali Quli Qarai (English)
                
                
                
                
                
                    89:8
                    ٱلَّتِى لَمْ يُخْلَقْ مِثْلُهَا فِى ٱلْبِلَـٰدِ
                
                
                
                
                
                    89:8
                    the like of which was not created among cities,  - Ali Quli Qarai (English)
                
                
                
                
                
                    89:9
                    وَثَمُودَ ٱلَّذِينَ جَابُوا۟ ٱلصَّخْرَ بِٱلْوَادِ
                
                
                
                
                
                    89:9
                    and [the people of] Thamud, who hollowed out the rocks in the valley,  - Ali Quli Qarai (English)
                
                
                
                
                
                    89:10
                    وَفِرْعَوْنَ ذِى ٱلْأَوْتَادِ
                
                
                
                
                
                    89:10
                    and Pharaoh, the impaler  - Ali Quli Qarai (English)
                
                
                
                
                
                    89:11
                    ٱلَّذِينَ طَغَوْا۟ فِى ٱلْبِلَـٰدِ
                
                
                
                
                
                    89:11
                    —those who rebelled [against Allah] in their cities  - Ali Quli Qarai (English)
                
                
                
                
                
                    89:12
                    فَأَكْثَرُوا۟ فِيهَا ٱلْفَسَادَ
                
                
                
                
                
                    89:12
                    and caused much corruption in them,  - Ali Quli Qarai (English)
                
                
                
                
                
                    89:13
                    فَصَبَّ عَلَيْهِمْ رَبُّكَ سَوْطَ عَذَابٍ
                
                
                
                
                
                    89:13
                    so your Lord poured on them lashes of punishment.  - Ali Quli Qarai (English)
                
                
                
                
                
                    89:14
                    إِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَبِٱلْمِرْصَادِ
                
                
                
                
                
                    89:14
                    Indeed your Lord is in ambush.  - Ali Quli Qarai (English)
                
                
                
                
                
                    89:15
                    فَأَمَّا ٱلْإِنسَـٰنُ إِذَا مَا ٱبْتَلَىٰهُ رَبُّهُۥ فَأَكْرَمَهُۥ وَنَعَّمَهُۥ فَيَقُولُ رَبِّىٓ أَكْرَمَنِ
                
                
                
                
                
                    89:15
                    As for man, whenever his Lord tests him, and grants him honour, and blesses him, he says, ‘My Lord has honoured me.’  - Ali Quli Qarai (English)
                
                
                
                
                
                    89:16
                    وَأَمَّآ إِذَا مَا ٱبْتَلَىٰهُ فَقَدَرَ عَلَيْهِ رِزْقَهُۥ فَيَقُولُ رَبِّىٓ أَهَـٰنَنِ
                
                
                
                
                
                    89:16
                    But when He tests him and tightens for him his provision, he says, ‘My Lord has humiliated me.’  - Ali Quli Qarai (English)
                
                
                
                
                
                    89:17
                    كَلَّا ۖ بَل لَّا تُكْرِمُونَ ٱلْيَتِيمَ
                
                
                
                
                
                    89:17
                    No indeed! No, you do not honour the orphan,  - Ali Quli Qarai (English)
                
                
                
                
                
                    89:18
                    وَلَا تَحَـٰٓضُّونَ عَلَىٰ طَعَامِ ٱلْمِسْكِينِ
                
                
                
                
                
                    89:18
                    and do not urge the feeding of the needy.  - Ali Quli Qarai (English)
                
                
                
                
                
                    89:19
                    وَتَأْكُلُونَ ٱلتُّرَاثَ أَكْلًا لَّمًّا
                
                
                
                
                
                    89:19
                    You eat the inheritance rapaciously,  - Ali Quli Qarai (English)
                
                
                
                
                
                    89:20
                    وَتُحِبُّونَ ٱلْمَالَ حُبًّا جَمًّا
                
                
                
                
                
                    89:20
                    and love wealth with much fondness.  - Ali Quli Qarai (English)
                
                
                
                
                
                    89:21
                    كَلَّآ إِذَا دُكَّتِ ٱلْأَرْضُ دَكًّا دَكًّا
                
                
                
                
                
                    89:21
                    No indeed! When the earth is levelled to a plain,  - Ali Quli Qarai (English)
                
                
                
                
                
                    89:22
                    وَجَآءَ رَبُّكَ وَٱلْمَلَكُ صَفًّا صَفًّا
                
                
                
                
                
                    89:22
                    and your Lord [’s edict] arrives with the angels in ranks,  - Ali Quli Qarai (English)
                
                
                
                
                
                    89:23
                    وَجِا۟ىٓءَ يَوْمَئِذٍۭ بِجَهَنَّمَ ۚ يَوْمَئِذٍ يَتَذَكَّرُ ٱلْإِنسَـٰنُ وَأَنَّىٰ لَهُ ٱلذِّكْرَىٰ
                
                
                
                
                
                    89:23
                    the day when hell is brought [near], man will take admonition on that day, but what will that admonition avail him?  - Ali Quli Qarai (English)
                
                
                
                
                
                    89:24
                    يَقُولُ يَـٰلَيْتَنِى قَدَّمْتُ لِحَيَاتِى
                
                
                
                
                
                    89:24
                    He will say, ‘Alas, had I sent ahead for my life [in the Hereafter]!’  - Ali Quli Qarai (English)
                
                
                
                
                
                    89:25
                    فَيَوْمَئِذٍ لَّا يُعَذِّبُ عَذَابَهُۥٓ أَحَدٌ
                
                
                
                
                
                    89:25
                    On that day none shall punish as He punishes,  - Ali Quli Qarai (English)
                
                
                
                
                
                    89:26
                    وَلَا يُوثِقُ وَثَاقَهُۥٓ أَحَدٌ
                
                
                
                
                
                    89:26
                    and none shall bind as He binds.  - Ali Quli Qarai (English)
                
                
                
                
                
                    89:27
                    يَـٰٓأَيَّتُهَا ٱلنَّفْسُ ٱلْمُطْمَئِنَّةُ
                
                
                
                
                
                    89:27
                    ‘O soul at peace!  - Ali Quli Qarai (English)
                
                
                
                
                
                    89:28
                    ٱرْجِعِىٓ إِلَىٰ رَبِّكِ رَاضِيَةً مَّرْضِيَّةً
                
                
                
                
                
                    89:28
                    Return to your Lord, pleased and pleasing!  - Ali Quli Qarai (English)
                
                
                
                
                
                    89:29
                    فَٱدْخُلِى فِى عِبَـٰدِى
                
                
                
                
                
                    89:29
                    Then enter among My servants,  - Ali Quli Qarai (English)
                
                
                
                
                
                    89:30
                    وَٱدْخُلِى جَنَّتِى
                
                
                
                
                
                    89:30
                    and enter My paradise!’  - Ali Quli Qarai (English)
