< Previous   30 Āyah   The Dawn      Next >

In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.

89:1
Wahiduddin Khan (English) :
By the Dawn,

89:2
Wahiduddin Khan (English) :
by the Ten Nights,

89:3
Wahiduddin Khan (English) :
by the even and the odd,

89:4
Wahiduddin Khan (English) :
and by the passing night,

89:5
Wahiduddin Khan (English) :
is there not in this strong evidence for a man of sense?

89:6
Wahiduddin Khan (English) :
Have you not heard of how your Lord dealt with the tribe of 'Ad,

89:7
Wahiduddin Khan (English) :
the people of Iram, the city of many pillars,

89:8
Wahiduddin Khan (English) :
the like of which has never been created in the land,

89:9
Wahiduddin Khan (English) :
and with the Thamud, who cut out [huge] rocks in the valley,

89:10
Wahiduddin Khan (English) :
and with Pharaoh of the stakes?

89:11
Wahiduddin Khan (English) :
All of them committed excesses in their lands,

89:12
Wahiduddin Khan (English) :
and caused much corruption in them:

89:13
Wahiduddin Khan (English) :
so your Lord unleashed on them the scourge of punishment:

89:14
Wahiduddin Khan (English) :
for, indeed, your Sustainer is ever on the watch!

89:15
Wahiduddin Khan (English) :
As for man, when his Lord tests him, through honour and blessings, he says, "My Lord has honoured me,"

89:16
Wahiduddin Khan (English) :
but when He tests him by straitening his means of livelihood, he says, "My Lord has disgraced me."

89:17
Wahiduddin Khan (English) :
No indeed, but you show no kindness to the orphan,

89:18
Wahiduddin Khan (English) :
nor do you urge one another to feed the poor,

89:19
Wahiduddin Khan (English) :
and you greedily devour the inheritance of the weak,

89:20
Wahiduddin Khan (English) :
and you have a love of wealth which can never be satisfied.

89:21
Wahiduddin Khan (English) :
No indeed! When the earth is crushed and ground to dust,

89:22
Wahiduddin Khan (English) :
when your Lord comes down with the angels, rank upon rank,

89:23
Wahiduddin Khan (English) :
and Hell is made to appear on that Day, then man will be mindful, but what will being mindful then avail him?

89:24
Wahiduddin Khan (English) :
He will say, "Oh, would that I had provided beforehand for my life!"

89:25
Wahiduddin Khan (English) :
On that Day no one will punish as He punishes,

89:26
Wahiduddin Khan (English) :
and none can bind with bonds like His!

89:27
Wahiduddin Khan (English) :
[But to the righteous, God will say], "O soul at peace,

89:28
Wahiduddin Khan (English) :
return to your Lord, well-pleased, well-pleasing.

89:29
Wahiduddin Khan (English) :
Join My servants.

89:30
Wahiduddin Khan (English) :
Enter My Paradise."
