بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.

69:1 ٱلْحَآقَّةُ

The Reality.

69:2 مَا ٱلْحَآقَّةُ

What is the Reality?

69:3 وَمَآ أَدْرَىٰكَ مَا ٱلْحَآقَّةُ

What will make you understand what the Reality is?

69:4 كَذَّبَتْ ثَمُودُ وَعَادٌۢ بِٱلْقَارِعَةِ
69:4
Talal Itani (English) :
Thamood and Aad denied the Catastrophe.

69:5 فَأَمَّا ثَمُودُ فَأُهْلِكُوا۟ بِٱلطَّاغِيَةِ
69:5
Talal Itani (English) :
As for Thamood, they were annihilated by the Overwhelming.

69:6 وَأَمَّا عَادٌ فَأُهْلِكُوا۟ بِرِيحٍ صَرْصَرٍ عَاتِيَةٍ
69:6
Talal Itani (English) :
And as for Aad; they were annihilated by a furious, roaring wind.

69:7 سَخَّرَهَا عَلَيْهِمْ سَبْعَ لَيَالٍ وَثَمَـٰنِيَةَ أَيَّامٍ حُسُومًا فَتَرَى ٱلْقَوْمَ فِيهَا صَرْعَىٰ كَأَنَّهُمْ أَعْجَازُ نَخْلٍ خَاوِيَةٍ
69:7
Talal Itani (English) :
He unleashed it upon them for seven nights and eight days, in succession. You could see the people tossed around, as though they were stumps of hollow palm-trees.

69:8 فَهَلْ تَرَىٰ لَهُم مِّنۢ بَاقِيَةٍ

Can you see any remnant of them?

69:9 وَجَآءَ فِرْعَوْنُ وَمَن قَبْلَهُۥ وَٱلْمُؤْتَفِكَـٰتُ بِٱلْخَاطِئَةِ
69:9
Talal Itani (English) :
Then Pharaoh came, and those before him, and the Overturned Cities steeped in sin.

69:10 فَعَصَوْا۟ رَسُولَ رَبِّهِمْ فَأَخَذَهُمْ أَخْذَةً رَّابِيَةً
69:10
Talal Itani (English) :
But they disobeyed the messenger of their Lord, so He seized them with an overpowering grip.

69:11 إِنَّا لَمَّا طَغَا ٱلْمَآءُ حَمَلْنَـٰكُمْ فِى ٱلْجَارِيَةِ
69:11
Talal Itani (English) :
When the waters overflowed, We carried you in the cruising ship.

69:12 لِنَجْعَلَهَا لَكُمْ تَذْكِرَةً وَتَعِيَهَآ أُذُنٌ وَٰعِيَةٌ
69:12

To make it a lesson for you—so that retaining ears may retain it.

69:13 فَإِذَا نُفِخَ فِى ٱلصُّورِ نَفْخَةٌ وَٰحِدَةٌ
69:13

Then, when the Trumpet is sounded a single time.

69:14 وَحُمِلَتِ ٱلْأَرْضُ وَٱلْجِبَالُ فَدُكَّتَا دَكَّةً وَٰحِدَةً
69:14
Talal Itani (English) :
And the earth and the mountains are lifted up, and crushed, with a single crush.

69:15 فَيَوْمَئِذٍ وَقَعَتِ ٱلْوَاقِعَةُ

On that Day, the Event will come to pass.

69:16 وَٱنشَقَّتِ ٱلسَّمَآءُ فَهِىَ يَوْمَئِذٍ وَاهِيَةٌ
69:16
Talal Itani (English) :
And the heaven will crack; so on that Day it will be frail.

69:17 وَٱلْمَلَكُ عَلَىٰٓ أَرْجَآئِهَا ۚ وَيَحْمِلُ عَرْشَ رَبِّكَ فَوْقَهُمْ يَوْمَئِذٍ ثَمَـٰنِيَةٌ
69:17
Talal Itani (English) :
And the angels will be ranged around its borders, while eight will be carrying the Throne of your Lord above them that Day.

69:18 يَوْمَئِذٍ تُعْرَضُونَ لَا تَخْفَىٰ مِنكُمْ خَافِيَةٌ
69:18
Talal Itani (English) :
On that Day you will be exposed, and no secret of yours will remain hidden.

69:19 فَأَمَّا مَنْ أُوتِىَ كِتَـٰبَهُۥ بِيَمِينِهِۦ فَيَقُولُ هَآؤُمُ ٱقْرَءُوا۟ كِتَـٰبِيَهْ
69:19
Talal Itani (English) :
As for him who is given his book in his right hand, he will say, “Here, take my book and read it.

69:20 إِنِّى ظَنَنتُ أَنِّى مُلَـٰقٍ حِسَابِيَهْ
69:20
Talal Itani (English) :
I knew I would be held accountable.”

69:21 فَهُوَ فِى عِيشَةٍ رَّاضِيَةٍ
69:21
Talal Itani (English) :
So he will be in pleasant living.

69:22 فِى جَنَّةٍ عَالِيَةٍ

In a lofty Garden.

69:23 قُطُوفُهَا دَانِيَةٌ
69:23

Its pickings are within reach.

69:24 كُلُوا۟ وَٱشْرَبُوا۟ هَنِيٓـًٔۢا بِمَآ أَسْلَفْتُمْ فِى ٱلْأَيَّامِ ٱلْخَالِيَةِ
69:24
Talal Itani (English) :
“Eat and drink merrily for what you did in the days gone by.”

69:25 وَأَمَّا مَنْ أُوتِىَ كِتَـٰبَهُۥ بِشِمَالِهِۦ فَيَقُولُ يَـٰلَيْتَنِى لَمْ أُوتَ كِتَـٰبِيَهْ
69:25
Talal Itani (English) :
But as for him who is given his book in his left hand, he will say, “I wish I was never given my book.

69:26 وَلَمْ أَدْرِ مَا حِسَابِيَهْ

Talal Itani (English) :
And never knew what my account was.

69:27 يَـٰلَيْتَهَا كَانَتِ ٱلْقَاضِيَةَ

If only it was the end.

69:28 مَآ أَغْنَىٰ عَنِّى مَالِيَهْ ۜ
69:28
Talal Itani (English) :
My money cannot avail me.

69:29 هَلَكَ عَنِّى سُلْطَـٰنِيَهْ
69:29
Talal Itani (English) :
My power has vanished from me.”

69:30 خُذُوهُ فَغُلُّوهُ
69:30

“Take him and shackle him.

69:31 ثُمَّ ٱلْجَحِيمَ صَلُّوهُ
69:31

Then scorch him in the Blaze.

69:32 ثُمَّ فِى سِلْسِلَةٍ ذَرْعُهَا سَبْعُونَ ذِرَاعًا فَٱسْلُكُوهُ
69:32
Talal Itani (English) :
Then in a chain which length is seventy cubits tie him up.

69:33 إِنَّهُۥ كَانَ لَا يُؤْمِنُ بِٱللَّهِ ٱلْعَظِيمِ
69:33
Talal Itani (English) :
For he would not believe in God the Great.

69:34 وَلَا يَحُضُّ عَلَىٰ طَعَامِ ٱلْمِسْكِينِ
69:34
Talal Itani (English) :
Nor would he advocate the feeding of the destitute.

69:35 فَلَيْسَ لَهُ ٱلْيَوْمَ هَـٰهُنَا حَمِيمٌ
69:35
Talal Itani (English) :
So he has no friend here today.

69:36 وَلَا طَعَامٌ إِلَّا مِنْ غِسْلِينٍ
69:36
Talal Itani (English) :
And no food except scum.

69:37 لَّا يَأْكُلُهُۥٓ إِلَّا ٱلْخَـٰطِـُٔونَ
69:37
Talal Itani (English) :
Which only the sinners eat.”

69:38 فَلَآ أُقْسِمُ بِمَا تُبْصِرُونَ
69:38
Talal Itani (English) :
Indeed, I swear by what you see.

69:39 وَمَا لَا تُبْصِرُونَ
69:39
Talal Itani (English) :
And by what you do not see.

69:40 إِنَّهُۥ لَقَوْلُ رَسُولٍ كَرِيمٍ

It is the speech of a noble messenger.

69:41 وَمَا هُوَ بِقَوْلِ شَاعِرٍ ۚ قَلِيلًا مَّا تُؤْمِنُونَ
69:41
Talal Itani (English) :
And it is not the speech of a poet—little do you believe.

69:42 وَلَا بِقَوْلِ كَاهِنٍ ۚ قَلِيلًا مَّا تَذَكَّرُونَ
69:42

Nor is it the speech of a soothsayer—little do you take heed.

69:43 تَنزِيلٌ مِّن رَّبِّ ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ

It is a revelation from the Lord of the Worlds.

69:44 وَلَوْ تَقَوَّلَ عَلَيْنَا بَعْضَ ٱلْأَقَاوِيلِ
69:44
Talal Itani (English) :
Had he falsely attributed some statements to Us.

69:45 لَأَخَذْنَا مِنْهُ بِٱلْيَمِينِ
69:45
Talal Itani (English) :
We would have seized him by the right arm.

69:46 ثُمَّ لَقَطَعْنَا مِنْهُ ٱلْوَتِينَ

Then slashed his lifeline.

69:47 فَمَا مِنكُم مِّنْ أَحَدٍ عَنْهُ حَـٰجِزِينَ
69:47
Talal Itani (English) :
And none of you could have restrained Us from him.

69:48 وَإِنَّهُۥ لَتَذْكِرَةٌ لِّلْمُتَّقِينَ

Talal Itani (English) :
Surely, it is a message for the righteous.

69:49 وَإِنَّا لَنَعْلَمُ أَنَّ مِنكُم مُّكَذِّبِينَ
69:49
Talal Itani (English) :
And We know that some of you will reject it.

69:50 وَإِنَّهُۥ لَحَسْرَةٌ عَلَى ٱلْكَـٰفِرِينَ
69:50
Talal Itani (English) :
And it is surely a source of grief for the unbelievers.

69:51 وَإِنَّهُۥ لَحَقُّ ٱلْيَقِينِ

Talal Itani (English) :
Yet it is the absolute truth.

69:52 فَسَبِّحْ بِٱسْمِ رَبِّكَ ٱلْعَظِيمِ
69:52

So glorify the name of your Lord, the Magnificent.
