In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.

26:1
Wahiduddin Khan (English) :
Ta Sin Mim.

26:2
Wahiduddin Khan (English) :
These are the verses of the Book that makes things clear.

26:3
Wahiduddin Khan (English) :
It may be that you will destroy yourself with grief because they will not believe.

26:4
Wahiduddin Khan (English) :
But if We had so willed, We could have sent down to them a sign from the heavens so that their heads would be bowed down before it in utter humility.

26:5
Wahiduddin Khan (English) :
Whenever there comes to them any fresh warning from the Merciful, they always turn their backs on it:

26:6
Wahiduddin Khan (English) :
they have indeed rejected the message. But the truth of what they laughed to scorn will dawn upon them before long.

26:7
Wahiduddin Khan (English) :
Do they not see the earth, and what beneficial kinds of things We have caused to grow in it?

26:8
Wahiduddin Khan (English) :
Surely in this there is a sign, yet most of them would not believe:

26:9
Wahiduddin Khan (English) :
truly, your Lord is the Mighty One, the Merciful.

26:10
Wahiduddin Khan (English) :
When your Lord called out to Moses, saying, "Go to the wrongdoing people,

26:11
Wahiduddin Khan (English) :
the people of Pharaoh, will they not fear God?

26:12
Wahiduddin Khan (English) :
Moses replied, "My Lord, I fear they will reject me,

26:13
Wahiduddin Khan (English) :
and "my breast is straitened and my tongue is not fluent; so send Aaron as well;

26:14
Wahiduddin Khan (English) :
besides, they accuse me of a crime, and I fear that they may put me to death."

26:15
Wahiduddin Khan (English) :
God said, "Indeed not; go both of you with Our signs, We shall be with you, listening [to your call].

26:16
Wahiduddin Khan (English) :
Go to Pharaoh, both of you, and say, 'We are messengers from the Lord of the Worlds:

26:17
Wahiduddin Khan (English) :
let the Children of Israel go with us!'"

26:18
Wahiduddin Khan (English) :
Pharaoh said to Moses, "Did we not bring you up among us as a child? And you spent several years of your life with us.

26:19
Wahiduddin Khan (English) :
Yet you committed the deed you did, surely you are one of the ingrates."

26:20
Wahiduddin Khan (English) :
Moses replied, "I did that when I was one of the misguided,

26:21
Wahiduddin Khan (English) :
and I fled from you because I feared you. Then my Lord granted me wisdom and made me one of the messengers.

26:22
Wahiduddin Khan (English) :
And this is the favour with which you taunt me -- that you have enslaved the Children of Israel?"

26:23
Wahiduddin Khan (English) :
Pharaoh said, "What is this: Lord of the Universe?"

26:24
Wahiduddin Khan (English) :
Moses said, "Lord of the heavens and the earth and all that is between them, if only you would be convinced."

26:25
Wahiduddin Khan (English) :
Pharaoh said to those around him, "Did you hear?"

26:26
Wahiduddin Khan (English) :
Moses went on, "He is your Lord and the Lord of your forefathers."

26:27
Wahiduddin Khan (English) :
Pharaoh said, "This messenger who has been sent to you is surely possessed!"

26:28
Wahiduddin Khan (English) :
Moses said, "He is the Lord of the East and the West, and all that lies between them, if only you could understand."

26:29
Wahiduddin Khan (English) :
Pharaoh said, "If you take any deity other than myself, I will throw you into prison,"

26:30
Wahiduddin Khan (English) :
and Moses asked, "Even if I show you a clear sign?"

26:31
Wahiduddin Khan (English) :
Pharaoh said, "Show it then, if you are telling the truth!"

26:32
Wahiduddin Khan (English) :
So Moses threw down his staff and suddenly it appeared as a serpent, plainly visible.

26:33
Wahiduddin Khan (English) :
And he drew out his hand, and it appeared [shining] white to the beholders.

26:34
Wahiduddin Khan (English) :
Pharaoh said to the chiefs around him, "Surely this man is a skilful sorcerer.

26:35
Wahiduddin Khan (English) :
Who wants to drive you out of your land by his sorcery. Now what do you advise?"

26:36
Wahiduddin Khan (English) :
They said, "Let him and his brother wait a while, and send heralds into the cities,

26:37
Wahiduddin Khan (English) :
who shall bring to you every skilful sorcerer."

26:38
Wahiduddin Khan (English) :
So the sorcerers were gathered on the appointed day

26:39
Wahiduddin Khan (English) :
and the people were told, "Will you also gather together,

26:40
Wahiduddin Khan (English) :
so that we may follow the magicians, if they be the winners."

26:41
Wahiduddin Khan (English) :
When the magicians came, they asked Pharaoh, "Shall we have a reward, if we are the winners?"

26:42
Wahiduddin Khan (English) :
He replied, "Certainly, in that case you will join my inner circle."

26:43
Wahiduddin Khan (English) :
Moses said to the magicians, "Throw down whatever you are going to throw."

26:44
Wahiduddin Khan (English) :
So they cast down their ropes and staffs, and said, "By Pharaoh's honour, we shall surely win."

26:45
Wahiduddin Khan (English) :
Then Moses threw down his staff, and it swallowed up all that they had conjured into being.

26:46
Wahiduddin Khan (English) :
The magicians fell down prostrate,

26:47
Wahiduddin Khan (English) :
saying, "We believe in the Lord of the Worlds,

26:48
Wahiduddin Khan (English) :
the Lord of Moses and Aaron."

26:49
Wahiduddin Khan (English) :
Pharaoh said, "Have you come to believe in him, before I have given you permission? He is surely your master who has taught you magic. But you shall see. I will cut off your hands and feet on alternate sides and crucify you all."

26:50
Wahiduddin Khan (English) :
They said, "There is no harm. To our Lord we shall return.

26:51
Wahiduddin Khan (English) :
We hope our Lord will forgive us, as we are the first of the believers."

26:52
Wahiduddin Khan (English) :
Then We revealed Our will to Moses, saying, "Set forth with My servants, in the night, for you will surely be pursued."

26:53
Wahiduddin Khan (English) :
And Pharaoh sent forth heralds to all the cities.

26:54
Wahiduddin Khan (English) :
"These," they said, "are only a small band,

26:55
Wahiduddin Khan (English) :
and they have enraged us,

26:56
Wahiduddin Khan (English) :
we are a large and watchful force."

26:57
Wahiduddin Khan (English) :
So We made them leave their gardens and springs,

26:58
Wahiduddin Khan (English) :
their treasures and their noble dwellings --

26:59
Wahiduddin Khan (English) :
and We made the Children of Israel inheritors of these bounties.

26:60
Wahiduddin Khan (English) :
Pharaoh and his people pursued them at sunrise,

26:61
Wahiduddin Khan (English) :
and when the two groups saw each other, Moses' companions said, "We are sure to be overtaken."

26:62
Wahiduddin Khan (English) :
Moses replied, "No, My Lord is with me, and He will guide me."

26:63
Wahiduddin Khan (English) :
Then We bade Moses strike the sea with his staff. And it parted, and each part was like a huge mountain.

26:64
Wahiduddin Khan (English) :
In the meantime We made the others approach that place.

26:65
Wahiduddin Khan (English) :
We delivered Moses and all those who were with him,

26:66
Wahiduddin Khan (English) :
then We drowned the others.

26:67
Wahiduddin Khan (English) :
Surely in that there is a sign; yet most of them do not believe:

26:68
Wahiduddin Khan (English) :
truly, your Lord is the Mighty One, the Merciful.

26:69
Wahiduddin Khan (English) :
Tell them the story of Abraham,

26:70
Wahiduddin Khan (English) :
when he asked his father and his people, "What is that which you worship?"

26:71
Wahiduddin Khan (English) :
They said, "We worship idols and will continue to cling to them."

26:72
Wahiduddin Khan (English) :
He asked, "Do they hear you when you call to them?

26:73
Wahiduddin Khan (English) :
Do they help or harm you?"

26:74
Wahiduddin Khan (English) :
They replied, "But we found our fathers doing the same."

26:75
Wahiduddin Khan (English) :
Abraham said, "Have you really thought about what you have been worshipping,

26:76
Wahiduddin Khan (English) :
you and your forefathers --

26:77
Wahiduddin Khan (English) :
they are all my enemies, not so the Lord of the Universe,

26:78
Wahiduddin Khan (English) :
who created me. It is He who guides me;

26:79
Wahiduddin Khan (English) :
He who gives me food and drink;

26:80
Wahiduddin Khan (English) :
He who cures me when I am ill;

26:81
Wahiduddin Khan (English) :
He who will cause me to die and bring me back to life;

26:82
Wahiduddin Khan (English) :
and He who will, I hope, forgive me my faults on the Day of the Judgement.

26:83
Wahiduddin Khan (English) :
My Lord, bestow wisdom upon me; unite me with the righteous;

26:84
Wahiduddin Khan (English) :
give me a good name among later generations;

26:85
Wahiduddin Khan (English) :
and make me one of the inheritors of the Garden of Bliss;

26:86
Wahiduddin Khan (English) :
and forgive my father; for he is one of the misguided;

26:87
Wahiduddin Khan (English) :
and do not disgrace me on the Day when all people are resurrected,

26:88
Wahiduddin Khan (English) :
the Day when wealth and sons will be of no avail,

26:89
Wahiduddin Khan (English) :
and when he alone will be saved who comes to God with a sound heart."

26:90
Wahiduddin Khan (English) :
When Paradise shall be brought near to the God-fearing

26:91
Wahiduddin Khan (English) :
and Hell shall be revealed to the misguided,

26:92
Wahiduddin Khan (English) :
they will be asked, "Where are those whom you worshipped

26:93
Wahiduddin Khan (English) :
besides God? Can they help you or even help themselves?"

26:94
Wahiduddin Khan (English) :
Then they will be thrown headlong into Hell, both they and the misguided ones,

26:95
Wahiduddin Khan (English) :
and Satan's legions, all together.

26:96
Wahiduddin Khan (English) :
They will dispute between themselves therein, and will say,

26:97
Wahiduddin Khan (English) :
"We were clearly misguided

26:98
Wahiduddin Khan (English) :
when we made you equal with the Lord of the Universe.

26:99
Wahiduddin Khan (English) :
It was the evildoers who led us astray,

26:100
Wahiduddin Khan (English) :
and we have no intercessors now,

26:101
Wahiduddin Khan (English) :
and no sincere friend.

26:102
Wahiduddin Khan (English) :
If we could only return to the world and be among the believers."

26:103
Wahiduddin Khan (English) :
There is certainly a sign in that, but most of them would not believe:

26:104
Wahiduddin Khan (English) :
surely, your Lord is the Mighty One, the Merciful.

26:105
Wahiduddin Khan (English) :
The people of Noah also rejected the messengers.

26:106
Wahiduddin Khan (English) :
When their brother Noah said to them, "Will you have no fear of God?

26:107
Wahiduddin Khan (English) :
I am a trustworthy messenger for you:

26:108
Wahiduddin Khan (English) :
fear God, and obey me.

26:109
Wahiduddin Khan (English) :
I ask of you no recompense for it, for my only reward is with the Lord of the Universe,

26:110
Wahiduddin Khan (English) :
so fear God and obey me."

26:111
Wahiduddin Khan (English) :
They replied, "Are we to believe in you when your followers are but the lowest of the low?"

26:112
Wahiduddin Khan (English) :
He said, "What knowledge do I have of their doings?

26:113
Wahiduddin Khan (English) :
My Lord alone can bring them to account, if only you could understand,

26:114
Wahiduddin Khan (English) :
I am not going to drive away any believers.

26:115
Wahiduddin Khan (English) :
I am only a plain warner."

26:116
Wahiduddin Khan (English) :
They said, "Noah, if you do not desist, you will be stoned."

26:117
Wahiduddin Khan (English) :
Noah said, "My Lord, my people have rejected me,

26:118
Wahiduddin Khan (English) :
therefore, judge decisively between me and them; and save me and the believers who are with me."

26:119
Wahiduddin Khan (English) :
So We saved him, and those who were with him in the laden ark,

26:120
Wahiduddin Khan (English) :
and drowned the rest.

26:121
Wahiduddin Khan (English) :
There is certainly a sign in that; but most of them do not believe:

26:122
Wahiduddin Khan (English) :
surely your Lord is the Mighty One, the Merciful.

26:123
Wahiduddin Khan (English) :
The people of 'Ad, too, rejected the messengers.

26:124
Wahiduddin Khan (English) :
Their brother Hud said to them, "Will you not fear God?

26:125
Wahiduddin Khan (English) :
I am a trustworthy messenger for you:

26:126
Wahiduddin Khan (English) :
fear God, then, and obey me.

26:127
Wahiduddin Khan (English) :
I ask no recompense of you; my reward is only with the Lord of the Universe.

26:128
Wahiduddin Khan (English) :
Do you build monuments on every high place in vanity,

26:129
Wahiduddin Khan (English) :
and erect castles hoping that you will live forever.

26:130
Wahiduddin Khan (English) :
When you lay hands upon anyone, you do so as tyrants.

26:131
Wahiduddin Khan (English) :
So fear God, and obey me;

26:132
Wahiduddin Khan (English) :
fear Him who has aided you with all that you know --

26:133
Wahiduddin Khan (English) :
He has bestowed on you cattle, and sons,

26:134
Wahiduddin Khan (English) :
and gardens, and springs --

26:135
Wahiduddin Khan (English) :
indeed, I fear for you the torment of an awful day."

26:136
Wahiduddin Khan (English) :
They replied, "It makes no difference to us whether you preach or do not preach,

26:137
Wahiduddin Khan (English) :
this is nothing but a habit of the ancients:

26:138
Wahiduddin Khan (English) :
and we shall not be punished."

26:139
Wahiduddin Khan (English) :
So they rejected him; and We destroyed them. There is certainly a sign in that; but most of them would not believe.

26:140
Wahiduddin Khan (English) :
Surely your Lord is the Mighty One, the Merciful.

26:141
Wahiduddin Khan (English) :
The tribe of Thamud also rejected the messengers.

26:142
Wahiduddin Khan (English) :
When their brother Salih said to them, "Will you not fear God?

26:143
Wahiduddin Khan (English) :
Truly, I am a trustworthy messenger for you,

26:144
Wahiduddin Khan (English) :
so fear God and obey me.

26:145
Wahiduddin Khan (English) :
For this I demand no recompense from you; my reward is only with the Lord of the Universe.

26:146
Wahiduddin Khan (English) :
Do you think that you will be left secure [forever] --

26:147
Wahiduddin Khan (English) :
in the midst of gardens and fountains,

26:148
Wahiduddin Khan (English) :
and cornfields, and palm-trees laden with fruit --

26:149
Wahiduddin Khan (English) :
hewing out houses in the mountains and taking pride in your skill?

26:150
Wahiduddin Khan (English) :
So fear God and obey me:

26:151
Wahiduddin Khan (English) :
do not obey the bidding of those who are given to excesses,

26:152
Wahiduddin Khan (English) :
those who spread corruption in the land instead of putting things right."

26:153
Wahiduddin Khan (English) :
They replied, "Surely you are bewitched.

26:154
Wahiduddin Khan (English) :
You are only a human being like ourselves. Show us a sign, if you are telling the truth."

26:155
Wahiduddin Khan (English) :
He said, "Here is a she-camel. She shall have her turn of drinking, as you have yours, each on an appointed day,

26:156
Wahiduddin Khan (English) :
so do her no harm, or the punishment of an awful day will befall you."

26:157
Wahiduddin Khan (English) :
Yet they hamstrung her, and then they became regretful:

26:158
Wahiduddin Khan (English) :
so the punishment came down upon them. Surely in that there is a sign, but most of them would not believe.

26:159
Wahiduddin Khan (English) :
Your Lord is the Mighty One, the Merciful.

26:160
Wahiduddin Khan (English) :
Then the people of Lot rejected the messengers.

26:161
Wahiduddin Khan (English) :
When their brother Lot said to them, "Will you not fear God?

26:162
Wahiduddin Khan (English) :
I am a trustworthy messenger to you:

26:163
Wahiduddin Khan (English) :
so fear God and obey me.

26:164
Wahiduddin Khan (English) :
I ask of you no recompense for this; my reward is only with the Lord of the Universe.

26:165
Wahiduddin Khan (English) :
Do you, of all people, approach males,

26:166
Wahiduddin Khan (English) :
and leave your wives whom your Lord has created for you? You are a people who transgress all bounds."

26:167
Wahiduddin Khan (English) :
They said, "If you do not desist, Lot, you will surely be banished."

26:168
Wahiduddin Khan (English) :
He said, "I am one of those who abhors your ways.

26:169
Wahiduddin Khan (English) :
My Lord, save me and my family from their evil doings."

26:170
Wahiduddin Khan (English) :
We saved him and all of his family,

26:171
Wahiduddin Khan (English) :
except for an old woman who stayed behind,

26:172
Wahiduddin Khan (English) :
then We totally destroyed the rest,

26:173
Wahiduddin Khan (English) :
and We poured a rain [of destruction] down upon them -- and how evil was the rain which fell on those who were forewarned.

26:174
Wahiduddin Khan (English) :
Surely in this there is a sign: but most of them would not believe:

26:175
Wahiduddin Khan (English) :
your Lord is the Mighty One, the Merciful.

26:176
Wahiduddin Khan (English) :
The dwellers of the forest also rejected the messengers.

26:177
Wahiduddin Khan (English) :
Shu'ayb said to them, "Will you not fear God?

26:178
Wahiduddin Khan (English) :
I am a trustworthy messenger to you:

26:179
Wahiduddin Khan (English) :
so fear God, and obey me.

26:180
Wahiduddin Khan (English) :
I ask of you no recompense for this; my reward is only with the Lord of the Universe.

26:181
Wahiduddin Khan (English) :
Give full measure, and cause no loss to others.

26:182
Wahiduddin Khan (English) :
Weigh with correct scales:

26:183
Wahiduddin Khan (English) :
do not defraud people of what is rightfully theirs; and do not spread corruption in the land.

26:184
Wahiduddin Khan (English) :
Fear Him who created you and those who have gone before you."

26:185
Wahiduddin Khan (English) :
They replied, "You are bewitched.

26:186
Wahiduddin Khan (English) :
You are only a human being like ourselves. Indeed we think you are a liar.

26:187
Wahiduddin Khan (English) :
So cause a fragment of the sky to fall on us, if you are truthful."

26:188
Wahiduddin Khan (English) :
He said, "My Lord has full knowledge of all your actions."

26:189
Wahiduddin Khan (English) :
They rejected him, and then had to suffer the punishment of a day of overshadowing gloom. That was indeed the punishment of an awful day.

26:190
Wahiduddin Khan (English) :
Surely, in this is indeed a sign; but most of them would not believe:

26:191
Wahiduddin Khan (English) :
your Lord is the Mighty One, the Merciful.

26:192
Wahiduddin Khan (English) :
This surely is a revelation from the Lord of the Universe:

26:193
Wahiduddin Khan (English) :
the Faithful Spirit has brought it down

26:194
Wahiduddin Khan (English) :
into your heart, so that you may be a warner,

26:195
Wahiduddin Khan (English) :
in clear Arabic speech.

26:196
Wahiduddin Khan (English) :
Surely, it is foretold in the ancient scriptures.

26:197
Wahiduddin Khan (English) :
Is it not evidence enough for them that the learned among the Children of Israel have recognized this [as true]?

26:198
Wahiduddin Khan (English) :
Had We revealed it to any one of the non-Arabs,

26:199
Wahiduddin Khan (English) :
and he had recited it to them, they would not have believed in it.

26:200
Wahiduddin Khan (English) :
We have thus caused denial of truth to enter into the hearts of the sinners:

26:201
Wahiduddin Khan (English) :
they will not believe in it until they see the grievous punishment.

26:202
Wahiduddin Khan (English) :
It will come upon them suddenly when they are not expecting it.

26:203
Wahiduddin Khan (English) :
Then they will exclaim, "Could we have some respite?"

26:204
Wahiduddin Khan (English) :
Do they want to hasten Our punishment?

26:205
Wahiduddin Khan (English) :
Think! If We let them enjoy life for some years,

26:206
Wahiduddin Khan (English) :
and then the promised punishment fell upon them,

26:207
Wahiduddin Khan (English) :
of what avail would their past enjoyment be to them?

26:208
Wahiduddin Khan (English) :
Never have We destroyed a town without sending down messengers to warn it,

26:209
Wahiduddin Khan (English) :
as a reminder from Us: We are never unjust.

26:210
Wahiduddin Khan (English) :
It was not the devils who brought down the Quran:

26:211
Wahiduddin Khan (English) :
neither are they worthy of it, nor are they capable of it,

26:212
Wahiduddin Khan (English) :
indeed they are debarred from overhearing it.

26:213
Wahiduddin Khan (English) :
So do not call on any deity besides God, lest you incur His punishment.

26:214
Wahiduddin Khan (English) :
Warn your nearest kinsmen,

26:215
Wahiduddin Khan (English) :
and extend kindness and affection to those of the believers who follow you.

26:216
Wahiduddin Khan (English) :
If they disobey you, say, "I bear no responsibility for what you do."

26:217
Wahiduddin Khan (English) :
Put your trust in the Mighty One, the Merciful,

26:218
Wahiduddin Khan (English) :
who sees you when you stand up [for prayer],

26:219
Wahiduddin Khan (English) :
and sees your movements among those who prostrate themselves:

26:220
Wahiduddin Khan (English) :
He is the All Hearing, the All Knowing.

26:221
Wahiduddin Khan (English) :
Shall I tell you upon whom the devils descend?

26:222
Wahiduddin Khan (English) :
They descend on every lying sinner,

26:223
Wahiduddin Khan (English) :
who lends an ear to them, and most of them are liars.

26:224
Wahiduddin Khan (English) :
And as for the poets -- it is the misled who follow them.

26:225
Wahiduddin Khan (English) :
Do you not see how they wander aimlessly in every valley,

26:226
Wahiduddin Khan (English) :
preaching what they do not practice.

26:227
Wahiduddin Khan (English) :
Not so the true believers who do good works and remember God with fervour and defend themselves only after they are wronged. The wrongdoers will soon know how evil a turn their affairs will take.
