بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.
26:1
طسٓمٓ
26:1
Ta'. Sin. Mim. - Abul Ala Maududi (English)
26:2
تِلْكَ ءَايَـٰتُ ٱلْكِتَـٰبِ ٱلْمُبِينِ
26:2
These are the verses of the Clear Book. - Abul Ala Maududi (English)
26:3
لَعَلَّكَ بَـٰخِعٌ نَّفْسَكَ أَلَّا يَكُونُوا۟ مُؤْمِنِينَ
26:3
(O Muhammad), you will perhaps grieve yourself to death because these people do not believe. - Abul Ala Maududi (English)
26:4
إِن نَّشَأْ نُنَزِّلْ عَلَيْهِم مِّنَ ٱلسَّمَآءِ ءَايَةً فَظَلَّتْ أَعْنَـٰقُهُمْ لَهَا خَـٰضِعِينَ
26:4
If We will, We can send down a Sign to them from heaven, so their necks will be humbled to it. - Abul Ala Maududi (English)
26:5
وَمَا يَأْتِيهِم مِّن ذِكْرٍ مِّنَ ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِ مُحْدَثٍ إِلَّا كَانُوا۟ عَنْهُ مُعْرِضِينَ
26:5
Never does there come to them an admonition from the Merciful Lord but they turn away from it. - Abul Ala Maududi (English)
26:6
فَقَدْ كَذَّبُوا۟ فَسَيَأْتِيهِمْ أَنۢبَـٰٓؤُا۟ مَا كَانُوا۟ بِهِۦ يَسْتَهْزِءُونَ
26:6
They will soon come to know the truth of that which they have been scoffing at. - Abul Ala Maududi (English)
26:7
أَوَلَمْ يَرَوْا۟ إِلَى ٱلْأَرْضِ كَمْ أَنۢبَتْنَا فِيهَا مِن كُلِّ زَوْجٍ كَرِيمٍ
26:7
Do they not look at the earth, how We caused a variety of fine vegetation to grow from it (in abundance)? - Abul Ala Maududi (English)
26:8
إِنَّ فِى ذَٰلِكَ لَـَٔايَةً ۖ وَمَا كَانَ أَكْثَرُهُم مُّؤْمِنِينَ
26:8
Surely there is a Sign in this, but most of them would not believe. - Abul Ala Maududi (English)
26:9
وَإِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَهُوَ ٱلْعَزِيزُ ٱلرَّحِيمُ
26:9
Verily Your Lord is Infinitely Mighty, Most Compassionate. - Abul Ala Maududi (English)
26:10
وَإِذْ نَادَىٰ رَبُّكَ مُوسَىٰٓ أَنِ ٱئْتِ ٱلْقَوْمَ ٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَ
26:10
(Recount to them about the time) when Your Lord called Moses: "Go to the wrong-doing people, - Abul Ala Maududi (English)
26:11
قَوْمَ فِرْعَوْنَ ۚ أَلَا يَتَّقُونَ
26:11
the people of Pharaoh: do they have no fear?" - Abul Ala Maududi (English)
26:12
قَالَ رَبِّ إِنِّىٓ أَخَافُ أَن يُكَذِّبُونِ
26:12
He said: "My Lord! I fear that they will brand me a liar. - Abul Ala Maududi (English)
26:13
وَيَضِيقُ صَدْرِى وَلَا يَنطَلِقُ لِسَانِى فَأَرْسِلْ إِلَىٰ هَـٰرُونَ
26:13
My breast is constricted and my tongue is not fluent, so endow Messengership on Aaron. - Abul Ala Maududi (English)
26:14
وَلَهُمْ عَلَىَّ ذَنۢبٌ فَأَخَافُ أَن يَقْتُلُونِ
26:14
As for me, they hold the charge of a crime against me. I fear they will put me to death." - Abul Ala Maududi (English)
26:15
قَالَ كَلَّا ۖ فَٱذْهَبَا بِـَٔايَـٰتِنَآ ۖ إِنَّا مَعَكُم مُّسْتَمِعُونَ
26:15
He said: "Certainly not! So go both of you with Our Signs. We shall be with you listening to everything. - Abul Ala Maududi (English)
26:16
فَأْتِيَا فِرْعَوْنَ فَقُولَآ إِنَّا رَسُولُ رَبِّ ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ
26:16
Go, then, to Pharaoh and say to him: 'The Lord of the Universe has sent us - Abul Ala Maududi (English)
26:17
أَنْ أَرْسِلْ مَعَنَا بَنِىٓ إِسْرَٰٓءِيلَ
26:17
that you let the Children of Israel go with us.'" - Abul Ala Maududi (English)
26:18
قَالَ أَلَمْ نُرَبِّكَ فِينَا وَلِيدًا وَلَبِثْتَ فِينَا مِنْ عُمُرِكَ سِنِينَ
26:18
Pharaoh said: "Did we not bring you up among us when you were a child? - Abul Ala Maududi (English)
26:19
وَفَعَلْتَ فَعْلَتَكَ ٱلَّتِى فَعَلْتَ وَأَنتَ مِنَ ٱلْكَـٰفِرِينَ
26:19
You spent many years of your life among us and then you committed that deed of yours. You are very ungrateful indeed." - Abul Ala Maududi (English)
26:20
قَالَ فَعَلْتُهَآ إِذًا وَأَنَا۠ مِنَ ٱلضَّآلِّينَ
26:20
Moses replied: "I committed that act erringly. - Abul Ala Maududi (English)
26:21
فَفَرَرْتُ مِنكُمْ لَمَّا خِفْتُكُمْ فَوَهَبَ لِى رَبِّى حُكْمًا وَجَعَلَنِى مِنَ ٱلْمُرْسَلِينَ
26:21
Then I fled for fear of you. Then my Lord bestowed wisdom and authority on me and made me one of the Messengers. - Abul Ala Maududi (English)
26:22
وَتِلْكَ نِعْمَةٌ تَمُنُّهَا عَلَىَّ أَنْ عَبَّدتَّ بَنِىٓ إِسْرَٰٓءِيلَ
26:22
Now this is the favour that you tauntingly remind me of: that you enslaved the Children of Israel!" - Abul Ala Maududi (English)
26:23
قَالَ فِرْعَوْنُ وَمَا رَبُّ ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ
26:23
Pharaoh said: "And who is this Lord of the Universe?" - Abul Ala Maududi (English)
26:24
قَالَ رَبُّ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَآ ۖ إِن كُنتُم مُّوقِنِينَ
26:24
Moses answered: "The Lord of the heavens and the earth and of all that is between them, if you were only to believe." - Abul Ala Maududi (English)
26:25
قَالَ لِمَنْ حَوْلَهُۥٓ أَلَا تَسْتَمِعُونَ
26:25
Pharaoh said to those around him: "Do you hear (what he says)?" - Abul Ala Maududi (English)
26:26
قَالَ رَبُّكُمْ وَرَبُّ ءَابَآئِكُمُ ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ
26:26
Moses said: "(He is) Your Lord and the Lord of your forefathers of yore." - Abul Ala Maududi (English)
26:27
قَالَ إِنَّ رَسُولَكُمُ ٱلَّذِىٓ أُرْسِلَ إِلَيْكُمْ لَمَجْنُونٌ
26:27
Pharaoh said to the audience: "This Messenger of yours who has been sent to you is simply mad." - Abul Ala Maududi (English)
26:28
قَالَ رَبُّ ٱلْمَشْرِقِ وَٱلْمَغْرِبِ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَآ ۖ إِن كُنتُمْ تَعْقِلُونَ
26:28
Moses continued: "(He is) the Lord of the east and the west, and all between them. If you only had any understanding!" - Abul Ala Maududi (English)
26:29
قَالَ لَئِنِ ٱتَّخَذْتَ إِلَـٰهًا غَيْرِى لَأَجْعَلَنَّكَ مِنَ ٱلْمَسْجُونِينَ
26:29
Pharaoh said: "If you take any god other than me, I will certainly make you one of those (who are rotting) in prison." - Abul Ala Maududi (English)
26:30
قَالَ أَوَلَوْ جِئْتُكَ بِشَىْءٍ مُّبِينٍ
26:30
Moses said: "Even if I were to bring a Clear Sign to you?" - Abul Ala Maududi (English)
26:31
قَالَ فَأْتِ بِهِۦٓ إِن كُنتَ مِنَ ٱلصَّـٰدِقِينَ
26:31
Pharaoh said: "Then bring it if you are truthful at all." - Abul Ala Maududi (English)
26:32
فَأَلْقَىٰ عَصَاهُ فَإِذَا هِىَ ثُعْبَانٌ مُّبِينٌ
26:32
(No sooner had he said this than) Moses threw down his rod and behold, it was a veritable serpent, - Abul Ala Maududi (English)
26:33
وَنَزَعَ يَدَهُۥ فَإِذَا هِىَ بَيْضَآءُ لِلنَّـٰظِرِينَ
26:33
and he drew his hand (out of his armpit) and lo! it had become a shining object to the beholders. - Abul Ala Maududi (English)
26:34
قَالَ لِلْمَلَإِ حَوْلَهُۥٓ إِنَّ هَـٰذَا لَسَـٰحِرٌ عَلِيمٌ
26:34
Pharaoh said to the nobles around him: "Surely this man is a skilled magician - Abul Ala Maududi (English)
26:35
يُرِيدُ أَن يُخْرِجَكُم مِّنْ أَرْضِكُم بِسِحْرِهِۦ فَمَاذَا تَأْمُرُونَ
26:35
who wants to drive you out of your land by his magic. Tell us, what do you advise us?" - Abul Ala Maududi (English)
26:36
قَالُوٓا۟ أَرْجِهْ وَأَخَاهُ وَٱبْعَثْ فِى ٱلْمَدَآئِنِ حَـٰشِرِينَ
26:36
They said: "Detain him and his brother for a while and send forth heralds to the cities - Abul Ala Maududi (English)
26:37
يَأْتُوكَ بِكُلِّ سَحَّارٍ عَلِيمٍ
26:37
to mobilise all skilled magicians." - Abul Ala Maududi (English)
26:38
فَجُمِعَ ٱلسَّحَرَةُ لِمِيقَـٰتِ يَوْمٍ مَّعْلُومٍ
26:38
So the magicians were brought together on a particular day at a set time - Abul Ala Maududi (English)
26:39
وَقِيلَ لِلنَّاسِ هَلْ أَنتُم مُّجْتَمِعُونَ
26:39
and the people were told: "Will you join the assembly? - Abul Ala Maududi (English)
26:40
لَعَلَّنَا نَتَّبِعُ ٱلسَّحَرَةَ إِن كَانُوا۟ هُمُ ٱلْغَـٰلِبِينَ
26:40
We may perhaps follow the religion of the magicians if they triumph." - Abul Ala Maududi (English)
26:41
فَلَمَّا جَآءَ ٱلسَّحَرَةُ قَالُوا۟ لِفِرْعَوْنَ أَئِنَّ لَنَا لَأَجْرًا إِن كُنَّا نَحْنُ ٱلْغَـٰلِبِينَ
26:41
When the magicians came forth (for the encounter) they said to Pharaoh: "Is there a reward for us if we triumph?" - Abul Ala Maududi (English)
26:42
قَالَ نَعَمْ وَإِنَّكُمْ إِذًا لَّمِنَ ٱلْمُقَرَّبِينَ
26:42
He said: "Yes, you will then become those near-stationed to me." - Abul Ala Maududi (English)
26:43
قَالَ لَهُم مُّوسَىٰٓ أَلْقُوا۟ مَآ أَنتُم مُّلْقُونَ
26:43
Moses said to them: "Throw down whatever you wish to throw." - Abul Ala Maududi (English)
26:44
فَأَلْقَوْا۟ حِبَالَهُمْ وَعِصِيَّهُمْ وَقَالُوا۟ بِعِزَّةِ فِرْعَوْنَ إِنَّا لَنَحْنُ ٱلْغَـٰلِبُونَ
26:44
Thereupon they threw down their ropes and their rods, and said: "By the glory of Pharaoh, we shall prevail." - Abul Ala Maududi (English)
26:45
فَأَلْقَىٰ مُوسَىٰ عَصَاهُ فَإِذَا هِىَ تَلْقَفُ مَا يَأْفِكُونَ
26:45
Thereafter, Moses threw down his rod and behold, it went about swallowing up all the false devices they had contrived. - Abul Ala Maududi (English)
26:46
فَأُلْقِىَ ٱلسَّحَرَةُ سَـٰجِدِينَ
26:46
Thereupon the magicians fell down in prostration, - Abul Ala Maududi (English)
26:47
قَالُوٓا۟ ءَامَنَّا بِرَبِّ ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ
26:47
saying: "We (now) believe in the Lord of the Universe, - Abul Ala Maududi (English)
26:48
رَبِّ مُوسَىٰ وَهَـٰرُونَ
26:48
the Lord of Moses and Aaron." - Abul Ala Maududi (English)
26:49
قَالَ ءَامَنتُمْ لَهُۥ قَبْلَ أَنْ ءَاذَنَ لَكُمْ ۖ إِنَّهُۥ لَكَبِيرُكُمُ ٱلَّذِى عَلَّمَكُمُ ٱلسِّحْرَ فَلَسَوْفَ تَعْلَمُونَ ۚ لَأُقَطِّعَنَّ أَيْدِيَكُمْ وَأَرْجُلَكُم مِّنْ خِلَـٰفٍ وَلَأُصَلِّبَنَّكُمْ أَجْمَعِينَ
26:49
Pharaoh said: "You accepted the word of Moses even before I granted you the leave to do so. Surely he is your chief who has taught you magic. Soon shall you come to know. I shall cut off your hands and feet on opposite sides and shall crucify all of you." - Abul Ala Maududi (English)
26:50
قَالُوا۟ لَا ضَيْرَ ۖ إِنَّآ إِلَىٰ رَبِّنَا مُنقَلِبُونَ
26:50
They said: "We do not care, for we are bound to return to our Lord, - Abul Ala Maududi (English)
26:51
إِنَّا نَطْمَعُ أَن يَغْفِرَ لَنَا رَبُّنَا خَطَـٰيَـٰنَآ أَن كُنَّآ أَوَّلَ ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ
26:51
and we surely expect that Our Lord will forgive us our sins for we are the first ones to believe." - Abul Ala Maududi (English)
26:52
۞ وَأَوْحَيْنَآ إِلَىٰ مُوسَىٰٓ أَنْ أَسْرِ بِعِبَادِىٓ إِنَّكُم مُّتَّبَعُونَ
26:52
We revealed to Moses: "Set forth with My servants by night for you will be pursued." - Abul Ala Maududi (English)
26:53
فَأَرْسَلَ فِرْعَوْنُ فِى ٱلْمَدَآئِنِ حَـٰشِرِينَ
26:53
Then Pharaoh sent heralds to the cities (to mobilise troops) - Abul Ala Maududi (English)
26:54
إِنَّ هَـٰٓؤُلَآءِ لَشِرْذِمَةٌ قَلِيلُونَ
26:54
saying: "These (Israelites) are only a small band of people - Abul Ala Maududi (English)
26:55
وَإِنَّهُمْ لَنَا لَغَآئِظُونَ
26:55
who have certainly provoked our wrath. - Abul Ala Maududi (English)
26:56
وَإِنَّا لَجَمِيعٌ حَـٰذِرُونَ
26:56
But we are a numerous host, ever on guard." - Abul Ala Maududi (English)
26:57
فَأَخْرَجْنَـٰهُم مِّن جَنَّـٰتٍ وَعُيُونٍ
26:57
Thus did We drive them out of their gardens and springs - Abul Ala Maududi (English)
26:58
وَكُنُوزٍ وَمَقَامٍ كَرِيمٍ
26:58
and their treasures and excellent dwellings. - Abul Ala Maududi (English)
26:59
كَذَٰلِكَ وَأَوْرَثْنَـٰهَا بَنِىٓ إِسْرَٰٓءِيلَ
26:59
This happened with them; (but on the other hand), We enabled the Children of Israel to inherit those bounties. - Abul Ala Maududi (English)
26:60
فَأَتْبَعُوهُم مُّشْرِقِينَ
26:60
At sunrise they set off in pursuit of them - Abul Ala Maududi (English)
26:61
فَلَمَّا تَرَٰٓءَا ٱلْجَمْعَانِ قَالَ أَصْحَـٰبُ مُوسَىٰٓ إِنَّا لَمُدْرَكُونَ
26:61
and when the groups came face to face, the companions of Moses cried out: "We are overtaken!" - Abul Ala Maududi (English)
26:62
قَالَ كَلَّآ ۖ إِنَّ مَعِىَ رَبِّى سَيَهْدِينِ
26:62
Moses said: "Certainly not. My Lord is with me; He will direct me." - Abul Ala Maududi (English)
26:63
فَأَوْحَيْنَآ إِلَىٰ مُوسَىٰٓ أَنِ ٱضْرِب بِّعَصَاكَ ٱلْبَحْرَ ۖ فَٱنفَلَقَ فَكَانَ كُلُّ فِرْقٍ كَٱلطَّوْدِ ٱلْعَظِيمِ
26:63
Then We revealed to Moses, (commanding him): "Strike the sea with your rod." Thereupon the sea split up, and then each became like the mass of a huge mount. - Abul Ala Maududi (English)
26:64
وَأَزْلَفْنَا ثَمَّ ٱلْـَٔاخَرِينَ
26:64
We also brought the other party close to the same spot, - Abul Ala Maududi (English)
26:65
وَأَنجَيْنَا مُوسَىٰ وَمَن مَّعَهُۥٓ أَجْمَعِينَ
26:65
and We delivered Moses and his companions, all of them, - Abul Ala Maududi (English)
26:66
ثُمَّ أَغْرَقْنَا ٱلْـَٔاخَرِينَ
26:66
then We drowned the others. - Abul Ala Maududi (English)
26:67
إِنَّ فِى ذَٰلِكَ لَـَٔايَةً ۖ وَمَا كَانَ أَكْثَرُهُم مُّؤْمِنِينَ
26:67
Surely there is a Sign in this, but most of them would not believe. - Abul Ala Maududi (English)
26:68
وَإِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَهُوَ ٱلْعَزِيزُ ٱلرَّحِيمُ
26:68
Verily your Lord is Immensely Mighty, Ever Compassionate. - Abul Ala Maududi (English)

وَٱتْلُ عَلَيْهِمْ نَبَأَ إِبْرَٰهِيمَ
26:69
And recount to them the story of Abraham: - Abul Ala Maududi (English)
26:70
إِذْ قَالَ لِأَبِيهِ وَقَوْمِهِۦ مَا تَعْبُدُونَ
26:70
when he asked his father and his people: "What do you worship?" - Abul Ala Maududi (English)
26:71
قَالُوا۟ نَعْبُدُ أَصْنَامًا فَنَظَلُّ لَهَا عَـٰكِفِينَ
26:71
They answered: "There are some idols that we worship and are devoted to them with constancy." - Abul Ala Maududi (English)
26:72
قَالَ هَلْ يَسْمَعُونَكُمْ إِذْ تَدْعُونَ
26:72
He asked: "Do they hear you when you call them - Abul Ala Maududi (English)
26:73
أَوْ يَنفَعُونَكُمْ أَوْ يَضُرُّونَ
26:73
or do they cause you any benefit or harm?" - Abul Ala Maududi (English)
26:74
قَالُوا۟ بَلْ وَجَدْنَآ ءَابَآءَنَا كَذَٰلِكَ يَفْعَلُونَ
26:74
They answered: "No; but we found our forefathers doing so." - Abul Ala Maududi (English)
26:75
قَالَ أَفَرَءَيْتُم مَّا كُنتُمْ تَعْبُدُونَ
26:75
Thereupon, Abraham said: "Have you seen (with your eyes) those whom you have been worshipping, - Abul Ala Maududi (English)
26:76
أَنتُمْ وَءَابَآؤُكُمُ ٱلْأَقْدَمُونَ
26:76
you and your forefathers of yore? - Abul Ala Maududi (English)
26:77
فَإِنَّهُمْ عَدُوٌّ لِّىٓ إِلَّا رَبَّ ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ
26:77
They are all enemies to me; all, except the Lord of the Universe - Abul Ala Maududi (English)
26:78
ٱلَّذِى خَلَقَنِى فَهُوَ يَهْدِينِ
26:78
Who created me and Who guides me; - Abul Ala Maududi (English)
26:79
وَٱلَّذِى هُوَ يُطْعِمُنِى وَيَسْقِينِ
26:79
Who gives me food and drink, - Abul Ala Maududi (English)
26:80
وَإِذَا مَرِضْتُ فَهُوَ يَشْفِينِ
26:80
and Who, when I am ill, heals me; - Abul Ala Maududi (English)
26:81
وَٱلَّذِى يُمِيتُنِى ثُمَّ يُحْيِينِ
26:81
Who will cause me to die and then will again restore me to life; - Abul Ala Maududi (English)
26:82
وَٱلَّذِىٓ أَطْمَعُ أَن يَغْفِرَ لِى خَطِيٓـَٔتِى يَوْمَ ٱلدِّينِ
26:82
Who, I hope, will forgive me my sins on the Day of Judgement." - Abul Ala Maududi (English)
26:83
رَبِّ هَبْ لِى حُكْمًا وَأَلْحِقْنِى بِٱلصَّـٰلِحِينَ
26:83
(And then Abraham prayed): "My Lord, endow me with knowledge and wisdom and join me with the righteous, - Abul Ala Maududi (English)
26:84
وَٱجْعَل لِّى لِسَانَ صِدْقٍ فِى ٱلْـَٔاخِرِينَ
26:84
and grant me an honourable reputation among posterity, - Abul Ala Maududi (English)
26:85
وَٱجْعَلْنِى مِن وَرَثَةِ جَنَّةِ ٱلنَّعِيمِ
26:85
and make me of those who will inherit the Garden of Bliss, - Abul Ala Maududi (English)
26:86
وَٱغْفِرْ لِأَبِىٓ إِنَّهُۥ كَانَ مِنَ ٱلضَّآلِّينَ
26:86
and forgive my father for he is among those who strayed, - Abul Ala Maududi (English)
26:87
وَلَا تُخْزِنِى يَوْمَ يُبْعَثُونَ
26:87
and disgrace me not on the Day when people will be raised to life, - Abul Ala Maududi (English)
26:88
يَوْمَ لَا يَنفَعُ مَالٌ وَلَا بَنُونَ
26:88
the Day when nothing will avail, neither wealth nor offspring, - Abul Ala Maududi (English)
26:89
إِلَّا مَنْ أَتَى ٱللَّهَ بِقَلْبٍ سَلِيمٍ
26:89
but only he that brings to Allah a sound heart will (attain to success)." - Abul Ala Maududi (English)
26:90
وَأُزْلِفَتِ ٱلْجَنَّةُ لِلْمُتَّقِينَ
26:90
(On that Day) the Garden will be brought near to the God-fearing, - Abul Ala Maududi (English)
26:91
وَبُرِّزَتِ ٱلْجَحِيمُ لِلْغَاوِينَ
26:91
and the Fire will be uncovered for those who strayed, - Abul Ala Maududi (English)
26:92
وَقِيلَ لَهُمْ أَيْنَ مَا كُنتُمْ تَعْبُدُونَ
26:92
and they will be asked: "Where are the gods that you worshipped - Abul Ala Maududi (English)
26:93
مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ هَلْ يَنصُرُونَكُمْ أَوْ يَنتَصِرُونَ
26:93
beside Allah? Can they be of any help to you, or even be of any help to themselves?" - Abul Ala Maududi (English)
26:94
فَكُبْكِبُوا۟ فِيهَا هُمْ وَٱلْغَاوُۥنَ
26:94
Then the idols and those who strayed will be hurled into the Fire headlong, one upon another, - Abul Ala Maududi (English)

وَجُنُودُ إِبْلِيسَ أَجْمَعُونَ
26:95
and so too the hosts of Iblis, all of them. - Abul Ala Maududi (English)

قَالُوا۟ وَهُمْ فِيهَا يَخْتَصِمُونَ
26:96
There they will quarrel with one another and the erring ones will say (to their deities): - Abul Ala Maududi (English)

تَٱللَّهِ إِن كُنَّا لَفِى ضَلَـٰلٍ مُّبِينٍ
26:97
"By Allah, we were surely in clear error - Abul Ala Maududi (English)
26:98
إِذْ نُسَوِّيكُم بِرَبِّ ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ
26:98
when we assigned to you a position equal to that of the Lord of the Universe. - Abul Ala Maududi (English)
26:99
وَمَآ أَضَلَّنَآ إِلَّا ٱلْمُجْرِمُونَ
26:99
It is none but those steeped in guilt who led us into this error, - Abul Ala Maududi (English)
26:100
فَمَا لَنَا مِن شَـٰفِعِينَ
26:100
and now we have none to intercede on our behalf, - Abul Ala Maududi (English)
26:101
وَلَا صَدِيقٍ حَمِيمٍ
26:101
nor do we have a truly sincere friend. - Abul Ala Maududi (English)
26:102
فَلَوْ أَنَّ لَنَا كَرَّةً فَنَكُونَ مِنَ ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ
26:102
If only we could return we would be among the believers." - Abul Ala Maududi (English)

إِنَّ فِى ذَٰلِكَ لَـَٔايَةً ۖ وَمَا كَانَ أَكْثَرُهُم مُّؤْمِنِينَ
26:103
Surely there is a Sign in this, but most of them would not believe. - Abul Ala Maududi (English)

وَإِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَهُوَ ٱلْعَزِيزُ ٱلرَّحِيمُ

كَذَّبَتْ قَوْمُ نُوحٍ ٱلْمُرْسَلِينَ
26:105
The people of Noah gave the lie to the Messengers. - Abul Ala Maududi (English)

إِذْ قَالَ لَهُمْ أَخُوهُمْ نُوحٌ أَلَا تَتَّقُونَ
26:106
Recall when their brother Noah said to them: "Do you have no fear? - Abul Ala Maududi (English)

إِنِّى لَكُمْ رَسُولٌ أَمِينٌ
26:107
I am a trustworthy Messenger to you; - Abul Ala Maududi (English)
26:108
فَٱتَّقُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ وَأَطِيعُونِ
26:108
so fear Allah and obey me. - Abul Ala Maududi (English)
26:109
وَمَآ أَسْـَٔلُكُمْ عَلَيْهِ مِنْ أَجْرٍ ۖ إِنْ أَجْرِىَ إِلَّا عَلَىٰ رَبِّ ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ

I seek of you no reward for this: my reward is with none except the Lord of the Universe. - Abul Ala Maududi (English)

فَٱتَّقُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ وَأَطِيعُونِ
26:110

۞ قَالُوٓا۟ أَنُؤْمِنُ لَكَ وَٱتَّبَعَكَ ٱلْأَرْذَلُونَ
26:111
They answered: "Shall we accept you even though it is the meanest of people who follow you?" - Abul Ala Maududi (English)

قَالَ وَمَا عِلْمِى بِمَا كَانُوا۟ يَعْمَلُونَ
26:112
Noah said: "What knowledge do I have about their deeds? - Abul Ala Maududi (English)
26:113
إِنْ حِسَابُهُمْ إِلَّا عَلَىٰ رَبِّى ۖ لَوْ تَشْعُرُونَ
26:113
It is only for my Lord to take account of them. Would that you made use of your understanding! - Abul Ala Maududi (English)

وَمَآ أَنَا۠ بِطَارِدِ ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ
26:114
It is not for me to repel those who choose to believe. - Abul Ala Maududi (English)
26:115
إِنْ أَنَا۠ إِلَّا نَذِيرٌ مُّبِينٌ
26:115
I am none but a plain warner." - Abul Ala Maududi (English)

قَالُوا۟ لَئِن لَّمْ تَنتَهِ يَـٰنُوحُ لَتَكُونَنَّ مِنَ ٱلْمَرْجُومِينَ
26:116
They said: "O Noah! If you do not desist, you will certainly become one of the accursed." - Abul Ala Maududi (English)
26:117
قَالَ رَبِّ إِنَّ قَوْمِى كَذَّبُونِ
26:117
He said: "My Lord! My people have branded me a liar. - Abul Ala Maududi (English)
26:118
فَٱفْتَحْ بَيْنِى وَبَيْنَهُمْ فَتْحًا وَنَجِّنِى وَمَن مَّعِىَ مِنَ ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ
26:118
So pass a clear judgement between me and them and rescue me and the believers with me." - Abul Ala Maududi (English)
26:119
فَأَنجَيْنَـٰهُ وَمَن مَّعَهُۥ فِى ٱلْفُلْكِ ٱلْمَشْحُونِ
26:119
Thereafter We rescued him and those who were with him in the laden Ark - Abul Ala Maududi (English)

ثُمَّ أَغْرَقْنَا بَعْدُ ٱلْبَاقِينَ
26:120
and drowned the rest. - Abul Ala Maududi (English)
26:121
إِنَّ فِى ذَٰلِكَ لَـَٔايَةً ۖ وَمَا كَانَ أَكْثَرُهُم مُّؤْمِنِينَ
26:121

وَإِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَهُوَ ٱلْعَزِيزُ ٱلرَّحِيمُ

كَذَّبَتْ عَادٌ ٱلْمُرْسَلِينَ

إِذْ قَالَ لَهُمْ أَخُوهُمْ هُودٌ أَلَا تَتَّقُونَ

Recall, when their brother Hud said to them: "Have you no fear? - Abul Ala Maududi (English)

إِنِّى لَكُمْ رَسُولٌ أَمِينٌ
26:125
I am a trustworthy Messenger to you. - Abul Ala Maududi (English)

فَٱتَّقُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ وَأَطِيعُونِ

وَمَآ أَسْـَٔلُكُمْ عَلَيْهِ مِنْ أَجْرٍ ۖ إِنْ أَجْرِىَ إِلَّا عَلَىٰ رَبِّ ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ

أَتَبْنُونَ بِكُلِّ رِيعٍ ءَايَةً تَعْبَثُونَ

What, you build a monument on every hill merely for fun - Abul Ala Maududi (English)

وَتَتَّخِذُونَ مَصَانِعَ لَعَلَّكُمْ تَخْلُدُونَ
26:129
and erect huge palaces as though you will live for ever, - Abul Ala Maududi (English)

وَإِذَا بَطَشْتُم بَطَشْتُمْ جَبَّارِينَ
26:130
and when you strike you strike like tyrants? - Abul Ala Maududi (English)

فَٱتَّقُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ وَأَطِيعُونِ
26:131
So fear Allah and obey me. - Abul Ala Maududi (English)
26:132
وَٱتَّقُوا۟ ٱلَّذِىٓ أَمَدَّكُم بِمَا تَعْلَمُونَ
26:132
Have fear of Him Who has provided you with all the (good) things you know; - Abul Ala Maududi (English)

أَمَدَّكُم بِأَنْعَـٰمٍ وَبَنِينَ
26:133
Who has provided you with flocks and children - Abul Ala Maududi (English)
26:134
وَجَنَّـٰتٍ وَعُيُونٍ
26:134
and with gardens and springs. - Abul Ala Maududi (English)
26:135
إِنِّىٓ أَخَافُ عَلَيْكُمْ عَذَابَ يَوْمٍ عَظِيمٍ
26:135
I fear for you the chastisement of an Awesome Day." - Abul Ala Maududi (English)
26:136
قَالُوا۟ سَوَآءٌ عَلَيْنَآ أَوَعَظْتَ أَمْ لَمْ تَكُن مِّنَ ٱلْوَٰعِظِينَ
26:136
They replied: "It is all the same for us whether you admonish us or not. - Abul Ala Maududi (English)

إِنْ هَـٰذَآ إِلَّا خُلُقُ ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ
26:137
This has been happening all along. - Abul Ala Maududi (English)

وَمَا نَحْنُ بِمُعَذَّبِينَ

We will not be subjected to any chastisement." - Abul Ala Maududi (English)
26:139
فَكَذَّبُوهُ فَأَهْلَكْنَـٰهُمْ ۗ إِنَّ فِى ذَٰلِكَ لَـَٔايَةً ۖ وَمَا كَانَ أَكْثَرُهُم مُّؤْمِنِينَ

Eventually they gave the lie to him and We destroyed them. Surely there is a Sign in this, but most of them would not believe. - Abul Ala Maududi (English)

وَإِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَهُوَ ٱلْعَزِيزُ ٱلرَّحِيمُ

كَذَّبَتْ ثَمُودُ ٱلْمُرْسَلِينَ

إِذْ قَالَ لَهُمْ أَخُوهُمْ صَـٰلِحٌ أَلَا تَتَّقُونَ

Recall when their brother Salih said to them: "Have you no fear?" - Abul Ala Maududi (English)

إِنِّى لَكُمْ رَسُولٌ أَمِينٌ

"I am a trustworthy Messenger to you. - Abul Ala Maududi (English)

فَٱتَّقُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ وَأَطِيعُونِ

وَمَآ أَسْـَٔلُكُمْ عَلَيْهِ مِنْ أَجْرٍ ۖ إِنْ أَجْرِىَ إِلَّا عَلَىٰ رَبِّ ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ

أَتُتْرَكُونَ فِى مَا هَـٰهُنَآ ءَامِنِينَ

Do you believe that you will be left here to live securely in the present state - Abul Ala Maududi (English)

فِى جَنَّـٰتٍ وَعُيُونٍ
26:147
amidst gardens and springs - Abul Ala Maududi (English)
26:148
وَزُرُوعٍ وَنَخْلٍ طَلْعُهَا هَضِيمٌ
26:148
and cornfields and date-palms laden with juicy fruits? - Abul Ala Maududi (English)
26:149
وَتَنْحِتُونَ مِنَ ٱلْجِبَالِ بُيُوتًا فَـٰرِهِينَ
26:149
You hew dwellings in mountains and exult in that. - Abul Ala Maududi (English)
26:150
فَٱتَّقُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ وَأَطِيعُونِ
26:150
Fear Allah and obey me - Abul Ala Maududi (English)
26:151
وَلَا تُطِيعُوٓا۟ أَمْرَ ٱلْمُسْرِفِينَ
26:151
and do not follow the biddings of those that go to excesses - Abul Ala Maududi (English)
26:152
ٱلَّذِينَ يُفْسِدُونَ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ وَلَا يُصْلِحُونَ
26:152
and spread mischief in the land rather than set things right." - Abul Ala Maududi (English)
26:153
قَالُوٓا۟ إِنَّمَآ أَنتَ مِنَ ٱلْمُسَحَّرِينَ
26:153
They replied: "You are nothing but one of those who are bewitched; - Abul Ala Maududi (English)
26:154
مَآ أَنتَ إِلَّا بَشَرٌ مِّثْلُنَا فَأْتِ بِـَٔايَةٍ إِن كُنتَ مِنَ ٱلصَّـٰدِقِينَ
26:154
you are no different from a mortal like us. So produce a sign if you are truthful." - Abul Ala Maududi (English)

قَالَ هَـٰذِهِۦ نَاقَةٌ لَّهَا شِرْبٌ وَلَكُمْ شِرْبُ يَوْمٍ مَّعْلُومٍ
26:155
Salih said: "This is a she-camel. There is a day set for her to drink and there is a day set for you to drink. - Abul Ala Maududi (English)

وَلَا تَمَسُّوهَا بِسُوٓءٍ فَيَأْخُذَكُمْ عَذَابُ يَوْمٍ عَظِيمٍ
26:156
Do not molest her lest the chastisement of an Awesome Day should seize you." - Abul Ala Maududi (English)
26:157
فَعَقَرُوهَا فَأَصْبَحُوا۟ نَـٰدِمِينَ
26:157
But they hamstrung her and then regretted it. - Abul Ala Maududi (English)
26:158
فَأَخَذَهُمُ ٱلْعَذَابُ ۗ إِنَّ فِى ذَٰلِكَ لَـَٔايَةً ۖ وَمَا كَانَ أَكْثَرُهُم مُّؤْمِنِينَ

So the chastisement seized them. Surely there is a Sign in this, but most of them would not believe. - Abul Ala Maududi (English)

وَإِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَهُوَ ٱلْعَزِيزُ ٱلرَّحِيمُ

كَذَّبَتْ قَوْمُ لُوطٍ ٱلْمُرْسَلِينَ

The people of Lot rejected the Messengers, branding them liars. - Abul Ala Maududi (English)

إِذْ قَالَ لَهُمْ أَخُوهُمْ لُوطٌ أَلَا تَتَّقُونَ
26:161
Recall, when their brother Lot said to them: "Have you no fear? - Abul Ala Maududi (English)

إِنِّى لَكُمْ رَسُولٌ أَمِينٌ

I am a trustworthy Messenger to you. - Abul Ala Maududi (English)

فَٱتَّقُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ وَأَطِيعُونِ

وَمَآ أَسْـَٔلُكُمْ عَلَيْهِ مِنْ أَجْرٍ ۖ إِنْ أَجْرِىَ إِلَّا عَلَىٰ رَبِّ ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ

أَتَأْتُونَ ٱلذُّكْرَانَ مِنَ ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ

What, of all creation will you go to (fornicate with) the males, - Abul Ala Maududi (English)

وَتَذَرُونَ مَا خَلَقَ لَكُمْ رَبُّكُم مِّنْ أَزْوَٰجِكُم ۚ بَلْ أَنتُمْ قَوْمٌ عَادُونَ

leaving aside those whom Allah has created for you as your mates. Nay, you are a people that has transgressed all limits." - Abul Ala Maududi (English)

قَالُوا۟ لَئِن لَّمْ تَنتَهِ يَـٰلُوطُ لَتَكُونَنَّ مِنَ ٱلْمُخْرَجِينَ
26:167
They said: "O Lot! If you do not desist, you will be one of those expelled (from our towns)." - Abul Ala Maududi (English)

قَالَ إِنِّى لِعَمَلِكُم مِّنَ ٱلْقَالِينَ
26:168
He said: "I am one of those who abhor your practice. - Abul Ala Maududi (English)

رَبِّ نَجِّنِى وَأَهْلِى مِمَّا يَعْمَلُونَ
26:169
My Lord, deliver me and my family from their wicked deeds." - Abul Ala Maududi (English)
26:170
فَنَجَّيْنَـٰهُ وَأَهْلَهُۥٓ أَجْمَعِينَ
26:170
Then We delivered him and all his family - Abul Ala Maududi (English)
26:171
إِلَّا عَجُوزًا فِى ٱلْغَـٰبِرِينَ
26:171
except an old woman who was among those that stayed behind. - Abul Ala Maududi (English)

ثُمَّ دَمَّرْنَا ٱلْـَٔاخَرِينَ
26:172
Thereafter, We utterly destroyed the rest, - Abul Ala Maududi (English)
26:173
وَأَمْطَرْنَا عَلَيْهِم مَّطَرًا ۖ فَسَآءَ مَطَرُ ٱلْمُنذَرِينَ
26:173
and We sent upon them a rain, an evil rain that fell on those who had been warned. - Abul Ala Maududi (English)
26:174
إِنَّ فِى ذَٰلِكَ لَـَٔايَةً ۖ وَمَا كَانَ أَكْثَرُهُم مُّؤْمِنِينَ
26:174

وَإِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَهُوَ ٱلْعَزِيزُ ٱلرَّحِيمُ

كَذَّبَ أَصْحَـٰبُ لْـَٔيْكَةِ ٱلْمُرْسَلِينَ

إِذْ قَالَ لَهُمْ شُعَيْبٌ أَلَا تَتَّقُونَ

Recall, when Shuayb said to them: "Have you no fear? - Abul Ala Maududi (English)

إِنِّى لَكُمْ رَسُولٌ أَمِينٌ
26:178
I am a trustworthy Messenger to you. - Abul Ala Maududi (English)

فَٱتَّقُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ وَأَطِيعُونِ

وَمَآ أَسْـَٔلُكُمْ عَلَيْهِ مِنْ أَجْرٍ ۖ إِنْ أَجْرِىَ إِلَّا عَلَىٰ رَبِّ ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ

۞ أَوْفُوا۟ ٱلْكَيْلَ وَلَا تَكُونُوا۟ مِنَ ٱلْمُخْسِرِينَ

Fill up the measure and do not diminish the goods of people, - Abul Ala Maududi (English)

وَزِنُوا۟ بِٱلْقِسْطَاسِ ٱلْمُسْتَقِيمِ
26:182
weigh with an even balance - Abul Ala Maududi (English)
26:183
وَلَا تَبْخَسُوا۟ ٱلنَّاسَ أَشْيَآءَهُمْ وَلَا تَعْثَوْا۟ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ مُفْسِدِينَ
26:183
and do not deliver short, and do not go about creating mischief in the land, - Abul Ala Maududi (English)

وَٱتَّقُوا۟ ٱلَّذِى خَلَقَكُمْ وَٱلْجِبِلَّةَ ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ
26:184
and have fear of Him Who created you and the earlier generations." - Abul Ala Maududi (English)
26:185
قَالُوٓا۟ إِنَّمَآ أَنتَ مِنَ ٱلْمُسَحَّرِينَ
26:185
They said: "You are no more than one of those who have been bewitched, - Abul Ala Maududi (English)

وَمَآ أَنتَ إِلَّا بَشَرٌ مِّثْلُنَا وَإِن نَّظُنُّكَ لَمِنَ ٱلْكَـٰذِبِينَ
26:186
you are only a mortal like us. Indeed we believe that you are an utter liar. - Abul Ala Maududi (English)

فَأَسْقِطْ عَلَيْنَا كِسَفًا مِّنَ ٱلسَّمَآءِ إِن كُنتَ مِنَ ٱلصَّـٰدِقِينَ
26:187
So cause a piece of the sky to fall upon us if you are truthful." - Abul Ala Maududi (English)
26:188
قَالَ رَبِّىٓ أَعْلَمُ بِمَا تَعْمَلُونَ
26:188
Shuayb said: "My Lord knows well all what you do." - Abul Ala Maududi (English)
26:189
فَكَذَّبُوهُ فَأَخَذَهُمْ عَذَابُ يَوْمِ ٱلظُّلَّةِ ۚ إِنَّهُۥ كَانَ عَذَابَ يَوْمٍ عَظِيمٍ
26:189
Then they branded him a liar, whereupon the chastisement of the Day of Canopy overtook them. It was the chastisement of a very awesome day. - Abul Ala Maududi (English)

إِنَّ فِى ذَٰلِكَ لَـَٔايَةً ۖ وَمَا كَانَ أَكْثَرُهُم مُّؤْمِنِينَ

وَإِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَهُوَ ٱلْعَزِيزُ ٱلرَّحِيمُ

وَإِنَّهُۥ لَتَنزِيلُ رَبِّ ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ

نَزَلَ بِهِ ٱلرُّوحُ ٱلْأَمِينُ

which the truthful spirit has carried down - Abul Ala Maududi (English)

عَلَىٰ قَلْبِكَ لِتَكُونَ مِنَ ٱلْمُنذِرِينَ

to your heart that you might become one of those who warn (others on behalf of Allah), - Abul Ala Maududi (English)

بِلِسَانٍ عَرَبِىٍّ مُّبِينٍ
26:195
(a revelation) in clear Arabic language, - Abul Ala Maududi (English)
26:196
وَإِنَّهُۥ لَفِى زُبُرِ ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ
26:196
(a revelation embodied) in the scriptures of the ancients. - Abul Ala Maududi (English)

أَوَلَمْ يَكُن لَّهُمْ ءَايَةً أَن يَعْلَمَهُۥ عُلَمَـٰٓؤُا۟ بَنِىٓ إِسْرَٰٓءِيلَ

Is it not a Sign to them - (to wit, the Makkans) - that the learned men of the Children of Israel know that? - Abul Ala Maududi (English)

وَلَوْ نَزَّلْنَـٰهُ عَلَىٰ بَعْضِ ٱلْأَعْجَمِينَ
26:198
(But such is their adamance) that had We revealed it to one of the non-Arabs and even if he had recited (this clear Arabic discourse) to them - Abul Ala Maududi (English)

فَقَرَأَهُۥ عَلَيْهِم مَّا كَانُوا۟ بِهِۦ مُؤْمِنِينَ

they would still not have believed in it. - Abul Ala Maududi (English)

كَذَٰلِكَ سَلَكْنَـٰهُ فِى قُلُوبِ ٱلْمُجْرِمِينَ

Thus have We caused this (Admonition) to penetrate the hearts of the culprits (like a hot rod). - Abul Ala Maududi (English)

لَا يُؤْمِنُونَ بِهِۦ حَتَّىٰ يَرَوُا۟ ٱلْعَذَابَ ٱلْأَلِيمَ
26:201
They will not believe in it until they clearly see the grievous chastisement. - Abul Ala Maududi (English)

فَيَأْتِيَهُم بَغْتَةً وَهُمْ لَا يَشْعُرُونَ
26:202
But when it comes upon them suddenly, taking them unawares, - Abul Ala Maududi (English)

فَيَقُولُوا۟ هَلْ نَحْنُ مُنظَرُونَ
26:203
they say: "Can we be granted some respite?" - Abul Ala Maududi (English)
26:204
أَفَبِعَذَابِنَا يَسْتَعْجِلُونَ
26:204
Do they really want Our chastisement to be expedited? - Abul Ala Maududi (English)
26:205
أَفَرَءَيْتَ إِن مَّتَّعْنَـٰهُمْ سِنِينَ
26:205
Did you consider that if We were to let them enjoy life for many years - Abul Ala Maududi (English)
26:206
ثُمَّ جَآءَهُم مَّا كَانُوا۟ يُوعَدُونَ
26:206
and then the chastisement of which they were being warned were to come upon them, - Abul Ala Maududi (English)
26:207
مَآ أَغْنَىٰ عَنْهُم مَّا كَانُوا۟ يُمَتَّعُونَ
26:207
of what avail will be the provisions of life which they have been granted to enjoy? - Abul Ala Maududi (English)
26:208
وَمَآ أَهْلَكْنَا مِن قَرْيَةٍ إِلَّا لَهَا مُنذِرُونَ
26:208
We never destroyed any habitation but that it had warners - Abul Ala Maududi (English)
26:209
ذِكْرَىٰ وَمَا كُنَّا ظَـٰلِمِينَ
26:209
to admonish them. We have never been unjust. - Abul Ala Maududi (English)
26:210
وَمَا تَنَزَّلَتْ بِهِ ٱلشَّيَـٰطِينُ
26:210
The satans did not bring down this (Clear Book), - Abul Ala Maududi (English)
26:211
وَمَا يَنۢبَغِى لَهُمْ وَمَا يَسْتَطِيعُونَ
26:211
nor does it behove them, nor does it lie in their power. - Abul Ala Maududi (English)
26:212
إِنَّهُمْ عَنِ ٱلسَّمْعِ لَمَعْزُولُونَ
26:212
Indeed they are debarred from even hearing it. - Abul Ala Maududi (English)
26:213
فَلَا تَدْعُ مَعَ ٱللَّهِ إِلَـٰهًا ءَاخَرَ فَتَكُونَ مِنَ ٱلْمُعَذَّبِينَ
26:213
So do not call any other god beside Allah lest you become of those who will be punished, - Abul Ala Maududi (English)

وَأَنذِرْ عَشِيرَتَكَ ٱلْأَقْرَبِينَ
26:214
and warn your nearest kinsmen; - Abul Ala Maududi (English)
26:215
وَٱخْفِضْ جَنَاحَكَ لِمَنِ ٱتَّبَعَكَ مِنَ ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ
26:215
and be meek to the believers who follow you. - Abul Ala Maududi (English)
26:216
فَإِنْ عَصَوْكَ فَقُلْ إِنِّى بَرِىٓءٌ مِّمَّا تَعْمَلُونَ
26:216
Then if they disobey you say to them: "I am quit of what you do." - Abul Ala Maududi (English)
26:217
وَتَوَكَّلْ عَلَى ٱلْعَزِيزِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
26:217
And put your trust in Him Who is Immensely Mighty, Most Compassionate, - Abul Ala Maududi (English)
26:218
ٱلَّذِى يَرَىٰكَ حِينَ تَقُومُ
26:218
Who observes you when you rise (to pray) - Abul Ala Maududi (English)
26:219
وَتَقَلُّبَكَ فِى ٱلسَّـٰجِدِينَ
26:219
and observes your movements among those who prostrate themselves. - Abul Ala Maududi (English)
26:220
إِنَّهُۥ هُوَ ٱلسَّمِيعُ ٱلْعَلِيمُ
26:220
He is All-Hearing, All-Knowing. - Abul Ala Maududi (English)
26:221
هَلْ أُنَبِّئُكُمْ عَلَىٰ مَن تَنَزَّلُ ٱلشَّيَـٰطِينُ
26:221
O people, shall I tell you on whom it is that satans descend? - Abul Ala Maududi (English)
26:222
تَنَزَّلُ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ أَفَّاكٍ أَثِيمٍ
26:222
They descend on every forgerer steeped in sin, - Abul Ala Maududi (English)
26:223
يُلْقُونَ ٱلسَّمْعَ وَأَكْثَرُهُمْ كَـٰذِبُونَ
26:223
on those who whisper hearsay in the ears of people; and most of them are liars. - Abul Ala Maududi (English)
26:224
وَٱلشُّعَرَآءُ يَتَّبِعُهُمُ ٱلْغَاوُۥنَ
26:224
As for poets, only the wayward follow them. - Abul Ala Maududi (English)
26:225
أَلَمْ تَرَ أَنَّهُمْ فِى كُلِّ وَادٍ يَهِيمُونَ
26:225
Do you not see that they wander about in every valley - Abul Ala Maududi (English)
26:226
وَأَنَّهُمْ يَقُولُونَ مَا لَا يَفْعَلُونَ
26:226
and say things which they do not act upon, - Abul Ala Maududi (English)
26:227
إِلَّا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَعَمِلُوا۟ ٱلصَّـٰلِحَـٰتِ وَذَكَرُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ كَثِيرًا وَٱنتَصَرُوا۟ مِنۢ بَعْدِ مَا ظُلِمُوا۟ ۗ وَسَيَعْلَمُ ٱلَّذِينَ ظَلَمُوٓا۟ أَىَّ مُنقَلَبٍ يَنقَلِبُونَ
26:227
except those who believed and acted righteously and remembered Allah much, and when they themselves were subjected to wrong, they exacted retribution no more than to the extent of the wrong? Soon will the wrong-doers know the end that they shall reach. - Abul Ala Maududi (English)
