بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.
26:1 طسٓمٓ
26:1 Ta. Sin. Mim. - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
26:2 تِلْكَ ءَايَـٰتُ ٱلْكِتَـٰبِ ٱلْمُبِينِ
26:2 These are verses of the Book that makes (things) clear. - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
26:3 لَعَلَّكَ بَـٰخِعٌ نَّفْسَكَ أَلَّا يَكُونُوا۟ مُؤْمِنِينَ
26:3 It may be thou frettest thy soul with grief, that they do not become Believers. - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
26:4 إِن نَّشَأْ نُنَزِّلْ عَلَيْهِم مِّنَ ٱلسَّمَآءِ ءَايَةً فَظَلَّتْ أَعْنَـٰقُهُمْ لَهَا خَـٰضِعِينَ
26:4 If (such) were Our Will, We could send down to them from the sky a Sign, to which they would bend their necks in humility. - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
26:5 وَمَا يَأْتِيهِم مِّن ذِكْرٍ مِّنَ ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِ مُحْدَثٍ إِلَّا كَانُوا۟ عَنْهُ مُعْرِضِينَ
26:5 But there comes not to them a newly-revealed Message from (Allah) Most Gracious, but they turn away therefrom. - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
26:6 فَقَدْ كَذَّبُوا۟ فَسَيَأْتِيهِمْ أَنۢبَـٰٓؤُا۟ مَا كَانُوا۟ بِهِۦ يَسْتَهْزِءُونَ
26:6 They have indeed rejected (the Message): so they will know soon (enough) the truth of what they mocked at! - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
26:7 أَوَلَمْ يَرَوْا۟ إِلَى ٱلْأَرْضِ كَمْ أَنۢبَتْنَا فِيهَا مِن كُلِّ زَوْجٍ كَرِيمٍ
26:7 Do they not look at the earth,- how many noble things of all kinds We have produced therein? - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
26:8 إِنَّ فِى ذَٰلِكَ لَـَٔايَةً ۖ وَمَا كَانَ أَكْثَرُهُم مُّؤْمِنِينَ
26:8 Verily, in this is a Sign: but most of them do not believe. - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
26:9 وَإِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَهُوَ ٱلْعَزِيزُ ٱلرَّحِيمُ
26:9 And verily, thy Lord is He, the Exalted in Might, Most Merciful. - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
26:10 وَإِذْ نَادَىٰ رَبُّكَ مُوسَىٰٓ أَنِ ٱئْتِ ٱلْقَوْمَ ٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَ
26:10 Behold, thy Lord called Moses: "Go to the people of iniquity,- - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
26:11 قَوْمَ فِرْعَوْنَ ۚ أَلَا يَتَّقُونَ
26:11 "The people of the Pharaoh: will they not fear Allah?" - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
26:12 قَالَ رَبِّ إِنِّىٓ أَخَافُ أَن يُكَذِّبُونِ
26:12 He said: "O my Lord! I do fear that they will charge me with falsehood: - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
26:13 وَيَضِيقُ صَدْرِى وَلَا يَنطَلِقُ لِسَانِى فَأَرْسِلْ إِلَىٰ هَـٰرُونَ
26:13 "My breast will be straitened. And my speech may not go (smoothly): so send unto Aaron. - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
26:14 وَلَهُمْ عَلَىَّ ذَنۢبٌ فَأَخَافُ أَن يَقْتُلُونِ
26:14 "And (further), they have a charge of crime against me; and I fear they may slay me." - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
26:15 قَالَ كَلَّا ۖ فَٱذْهَبَا بِـَٔايَـٰتِنَآ ۖ إِنَّا مَعَكُم مُّسْتَمِعُونَ
26:15 Allah said: "By no means! proceed then, both of you, with Our Signs; We are with you, and will listen (to your call). - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
26:16 فَأْتِيَا فِرْعَوْنَ فَقُولَآ إِنَّا رَسُولُ رَبِّ ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ
26:16 "So go forth, both of you, to Pharaoh, and say: 'We have been sent by the Lord and Cherisher of the worlds; - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
26:17 أَنْ أَرْسِلْ مَعَنَا بَنِىٓ إِسْرَٰٓءِيلَ
26:17 "'Send thou with us the Children of Israel.'" - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
26:18 قَالَ أَلَمْ نُرَبِّكَ فِينَا وَلِيدًا وَلَبِثْتَ فِينَا مِنْ عُمُرِكَ سِنِينَ
26:18 (Pharaoh) said: "Did we not cherish thee as a child among us, and didst thou not stay in our midst many years of thy life? - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
26:19 وَفَعَلْتَ فَعْلَتَكَ ٱلَّتِى فَعَلْتَ وَأَنتَ مِنَ ٱلْكَـٰفِرِينَ
26:19 "And thou didst a deed of thine which (thou knowest) thou didst, and thou art an ungrateful (wretch)!" - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
26:20 قَالَ فَعَلْتُهَآ إِذًا وَأَنَا۠ مِنَ ٱلضَّآلِّينَ
26:20 Moses said: "I did it then, when I was in error. - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
26:21 فَفَرَرْتُ مِنكُمْ لَمَّا خِفْتُكُمْ فَوَهَبَ لِى رَبِّى حُكْمًا وَجَعَلَنِى مِنَ ٱلْمُرْسَلِينَ
26:21 "So I fled from you (all) when I feared you; but my Lord has (since) invested me with judgment (and wisdom) and appointed me as one of the messengers. - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
26:22 وَتِلْكَ نِعْمَةٌ تَمُنُّهَا عَلَىَّ أَنْ عَبَّدتَّ بَنِىٓ إِسْرَٰٓءِيلَ
26:22 "And this is the favour with which thou dost reproach me,- that thou hast enslaved the Children of Israel!" - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
26:23 قَالَ فِرْعَوْنُ وَمَا رَبُّ ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ
26:23 Pharaoh said: "And what is the 'Lord and Cherisher of the worlds'?" - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
26:24 قَالَ رَبُّ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَآ ۖ إِن كُنتُم مُّوقِنِينَ
26:24 (Moses) said: "The Lord and Cherisher of the heavens and the earth, and all between,- if ye want to be quite sure." - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
26:25 قَالَ لِمَنْ حَوْلَهُۥٓ أَلَا تَسْتَمِعُونَ
26:25 (Pharaoh) said to those around: "Did ye not listen (to what he says)?" - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
26:26 قَالَ رَبُّكُمْ وَرَبُّ ءَابَآئِكُمُ ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ
26:26 (Moses) said: "Your Lord and the Lord of your fathers from the beginning!" - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
26:27 قَالَ إِنَّ رَسُولَكُمُ ٱلَّذِىٓ أُرْسِلَ إِلَيْكُمْ لَمَجْنُونٌ
26:27 (Pharaoh) said: "Truly your messenger who has been sent to you is a veritable madman!" - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
26:28 قَالَ رَبُّ ٱلْمَشْرِقِ وَٱلْمَغْرِبِ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَآ ۖ إِن كُنتُمْ تَعْقِلُونَ
26:28 (Moses) said: "Lord of the East and the West, and all between! if ye only had sense!" - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
26:29 قَالَ لَئِنِ ٱتَّخَذْتَ إِلَـٰهًا غَيْرِى لَأَجْعَلَنَّكَ مِنَ ٱلْمَسْجُونِينَ
26:29 (Pharaoh) said: "If thou dost put forward any god other than me, I will certainly put thee in prison!" - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
26:30 قَالَ أَوَلَوْ جِئْتُكَ بِشَىْءٍ مُّبِينٍ
26:30 (Moses) said: "Even if I showed you something clear (and) convincing?" - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
26:31 قَالَ فَأْتِ بِهِۦٓ إِن كُنتَ مِنَ ٱلصَّـٰدِقِينَ
26:31 (Pharaoh) said: "Show it then, if thou tellest the truth!" - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
26:32 فَأَلْقَىٰ عَصَاهُ فَإِذَا هِىَ ثُعْبَانٌ مُّبِينٌ
26:32 So (Moses) threw his rod, and behold, it was a serpent, plain (for all to see)! - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
26:33 وَنَزَعَ يَدَهُۥ فَإِذَا هِىَ بَيْضَآءُ لِلنَّـٰظِرِينَ
26:33 And he drew out his hand, and behold, it was white to all beholders! - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
26:34 قَالَ لِلْمَلَإِ حَوْلَهُۥٓ إِنَّ هَـٰذَا لَسَـٰحِرٌ عَلِيمٌ
26:34 (Pharaoh) said to the Chiefs around him: "This is indeed a sorcerer well-versed: - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
26:35 يُرِيدُ أَن يُخْرِجَكُم مِّنْ أَرْضِكُم بِسِحْرِهِۦ فَمَاذَا تَأْمُرُونَ
26:35 "His plan is to get you out of your land by his sorcery; then what is it ye counsel?" - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
26:36 قَالُوٓا۟ أَرْجِهْ وَأَخَاهُ وَٱبْعَثْ فِى ٱلْمَدَآئِنِ حَـٰشِرِينَ
26:36 They said: "Keep him and his brother in suspense (for a while), and dispatch to the Cities heralds to collect- - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
26:37 يَأْتُوكَ بِكُلِّ سَحَّارٍ عَلِيمٍ
26:37 "And bring up to thee all (our) sorcerers well-versed." - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
26:38 فَجُمِعَ ٱلسَّحَرَةُ لِمِيقَـٰتِ يَوْمٍ مَّعْلُومٍ
26:38 So the sorcerers were got together for the appointment of a day well-known, - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
26:39 وَقِيلَ لِلنَّاسِ هَلْ أَنتُم مُّجْتَمِعُونَ
26:39 And the people were told: "Are ye (now) assembled?- - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
26:40 لَعَلَّنَا نَتَّبِعُ ٱلسَّحَرَةَ إِن كَانُوا۟ هُمُ ٱلْغَـٰلِبِينَ
26:40 "That we may follow the sorcerers (in religion) if they win?" - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
26:41 فَلَمَّا جَآءَ ٱلسَّحَرَةُ قَالُوا۟ لِفِرْعَوْنَ أَئِنَّ لَنَا لَأَجْرًا إِن كُنَّا نَحْنُ ٱلْغَـٰلِبِينَ
26:41 So when the sorcerers arrived, they said to Pharaoh: "Of course - shall we have a (suitable) reward if we win? - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
26:42 قَالَ نَعَمْ وَإِنَّكُمْ إِذًا لَّمِنَ ٱلْمُقَرَّبِينَ
26:42 He said: "Yea, (and more),- for ye shall in that case be (raised to posts) nearest (to my person)." - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
26:43 قَالَ لَهُم مُّوسَىٰٓ أَلْقُوا۟ مَآ أَنتُم مُّلْقُونَ
26:43 Moses said to them: "Throw ye - that which ye are about to throw!" - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
26:44 فَأَلْقَوْا۟ حِبَالَهُمْ وَعِصِيَّهُمْ وَقَالُوا۟ بِعِزَّةِ فِرْعَوْنَ إِنَّا لَنَحْنُ ٱلْغَـٰلِبُونَ
26:44 So they threw their ropes and their rods, and said: "By the might of Pharaoh, it is we who will certainly win!" - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
26:45 فَأَلْقَىٰ مُوسَىٰ عَصَاهُ فَإِذَا هِىَ تَلْقَفُ مَا يَأْفِكُونَ
26:45 Then Moses threw his rod, when, behold, it straightway swallows up all the falsehoods which they fake! - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
26:46 فَأُلْقِىَ ٱلسَّحَرَةُ سَـٰجِدِينَ
26:46 Then did the sorcerers fall down, prostrate in adoration, - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
26:47 قَالُوٓا۟ ءَامَنَّا بِرَبِّ ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ
26:47 Saying: "We believe in the Lord of the Worlds, - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
26:48 رَبِّ مُوسَىٰ وَهَـٰرُونَ
26:48 "The Lord of Moses and Aaron." - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
26:49 قَالَ ءَامَنتُمْ لَهُۥ قَبْلَ أَنْ ءَاذَنَ لَكُمْ ۖ إِنَّهُۥ لَكَبِيرُكُمُ ٱلَّذِى عَلَّمَكُمُ ٱلسِّحْرَ فَلَسَوْفَ تَعْلَمُونَ ۚ لَأُقَطِّعَنَّ أَيْدِيَكُمْ وَأَرْجُلَكُم مِّنْ خِلَـٰفٍ وَلَأُصَلِّبَنَّكُمْ أَجْمَعِينَ
26:49 Said (Pharaoh): "Believe ye in Him before I give you permission? surely he is your leader, who has taught you sorcery! but soon shall ye know! Be sure I will cut off your hands and your feet on opposite sides, and I will cause you all to die on the cross!" - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
26:50 قَالُوا۟ لَا ضَيْرَ ۖ إِنَّآ إِلَىٰ رَبِّنَا مُنقَلِبُونَ
26:50 They said: "No matter! for us, we shall but return to our Lord! - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
26:51 إِنَّا نَطْمَعُ أَن يَغْفِرَ لَنَا رَبُّنَا خَطَـٰيَـٰنَآ أَن كُنَّآ أَوَّلَ ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ
26:51 "Only, our desire is that our Lord will forgive us our faults, that we may become foremost among the believers!" - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
26:52 ۞ وَأَوْحَيْنَآ إِلَىٰ مُوسَىٰٓ أَنْ أَسْرِ بِعِبَادِىٓ إِنَّكُم مُّتَّبَعُونَ
26:52 By inspiration we told Moses: "Travel by night with my servants; for surely ye shall be pursued." - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
26:53 فَأَرْسَلَ فِرْعَوْنُ فِى ٱلْمَدَآئِنِ حَـٰشِرِينَ
26:53 Then Pharaoh sent heralds to (all) the Cities, - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
26:54 إِنَّ هَـٰٓؤُلَآءِ لَشِرْذِمَةٌ قَلِيلُونَ
26:54 (Saying): "These (Israelites) are but a small band, - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
26:55 وَإِنَّهُمْ لَنَا لَغَآئِظُونَ
26:55 "And they are raging furiously against us; - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
26:56 وَإِنَّا لَجَمِيعٌ حَـٰذِرُونَ
26:56 "But we are a multitude amply fore-warned." - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
26:57 فَأَخْرَجْنَـٰهُم مِّن جَنَّـٰتٍ وَعُيُونٍ
26:57 So We expelled them from gardens, springs, - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
26:58 وَكُنُوزٍ وَمَقَامٍ كَرِيمٍ
26:58 Treasures, and every kind of honourable position; - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
26:59 كَذَٰلِكَ وَأَوْرَثْنَـٰهَا بَنِىٓ إِسْرَٰٓءِيلَ
26:59 Thus it was, but We made the Children of Israel inheritors of such things. - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
26:60 فَأَتْبَعُوهُم مُّشْرِقِينَ
26:60 So they pursued them at sunrise. - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
26:61 فَلَمَّا تَرَٰٓءَا ٱلْجَمْعَانِ قَالَ أَصْحَـٰبُ مُوسَىٰٓ إِنَّا لَمُدْرَكُونَ
26:61 And when the two bodies saw each other, the people of Moses said: "We are sure to be overtaken." - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
26:62 قَالَ كَلَّآ ۖ إِنَّ مَعِىَ رَبِّى سَيَهْدِينِ
26:62 (Moses) said: "By no means! my Lord is with me! Soon will He guide me!" - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
26:63 فَأَوْحَيْنَآ إِلَىٰ مُوسَىٰٓ أَنِ ٱضْرِب بِّعَصَاكَ ٱلْبَحْرَ ۖ فَٱنفَلَقَ فَكَانَ كُلُّ فِرْقٍ كَٱلطَّوْدِ ٱلْعَظِيمِ
26:63 Then We told Moses by inspiration: "Strike the sea with thy rod." So it divided, and each separate part became like the huge, firm mass of a mountain. - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
26:64 وَأَزْلَفْنَا ثَمَّ ٱلْـَٔاخَرِينَ
26:64 And We made the other party approach thither. - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
26:65 وَأَنجَيْنَا مُوسَىٰ وَمَن مَّعَهُۥٓ أَجْمَعِينَ
26:65 We delivered Moses and all who were with him; - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
26:66 ثُمَّ أَغْرَقْنَا ٱلْـَٔاخَرِينَ
26:66 But We drowned the others. - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
26:67 إِنَّ فِى ذَٰلِكَ لَـَٔايَةً ۖ وَمَا كَانَ أَكْثَرُهُم مُّؤْمِنِينَ
26:67 Verily in this is a Sign: but most of them do not believe. - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
26:68 وَإِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَهُوَ ٱلْعَزِيزُ ٱلرَّحِيمُ
26:68 And verily thy Lord is He, the Exalted in Might, Most Merciful. - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
26:69 وَٱتْلُ عَلَيْهِمْ نَبَأَ إِبْرَٰهِيمَ
26:69 And rehearse to them (something of) Abraham's story. - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
26:70 إِذْ قَالَ لِأَبِيهِ وَقَوْمِهِۦ مَا تَعْبُدُونَ
26:70 Behold, he said to his father and his people: "What worship ye?" - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
26:71 قَالُوا۟ نَعْبُدُ أَصْنَامًا فَنَظَلُّ لَهَا عَـٰكِفِينَ
26:71 They said: "We worship idols, and we remain constantly in attendance on them." - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
26:72 قَالَ هَلْ يَسْمَعُونَكُمْ إِذْ تَدْعُونَ
26:72 He said: "Do they listen to you when ye call (on them)?" - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
26:73 أَوْ يَنفَعُونَكُمْ أَوْ يَضُرُّونَ
26:73 "Or do you good or harm?" - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
26:74 قَالُوا۟ بَلْ وَجَدْنَآ ءَابَآءَنَا كَذَٰلِكَ يَفْعَلُونَ
26:74 They said: "Nay, but we found our fathers doing thus (what we do)." - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
26:75 قَالَ أَفَرَءَيْتُم مَّا كُنتُمْ تَعْبُدُونَ
26:75 He said: "Do ye then see whom ye have been worshipping,- - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
26:76 أَنتُمْ وَءَابَآؤُكُمُ ٱلْأَقْدَمُونَ
26:76 "Ye and your fathers before you?- - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
26:77 فَإِنَّهُمْ عَدُوٌّ لِّىٓ إِلَّا رَبَّ ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ
26:77 "For they are enemies to me; not so the Lord and Cherisher of the Worlds; - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
26:78 ٱلَّذِى خَلَقَنِى فَهُوَ يَهْدِينِ
26:78 "Who created me, and it is He Who guides me; - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
26:79 وَٱلَّذِى هُوَ يُطْعِمُنِى وَيَسْقِينِ
26:79 "Who gives me food and drink, - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
26:80 وَإِذَا مَرِضْتُ فَهُوَ يَشْفِينِ
26:80 "And when I am ill, it is He Who cures me; - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
26:81 وَٱلَّذِى يُمِيتُنِى ثُمَّ يُحْيِينِ
26:81 "Who will cause me to die, and then to life (again); - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
26:82 وَٱلَّذِىٓ أَطْمَعُ أَن يَغْفِرَ لِى خَطِيٓـَٔتِى يَوْمَ ٱلدِّينِ
26:82 "And who, I hope, will forgive me my faults on the day of Judgment. - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
26:83 رَبِّ هَبْ لِى حُكْمًا وَأَلْحِقْنِى بِٱلصَّـٰلِحِينَ
26:83 "O my Lord! bestow wisdom on me, and join me with the righteous; - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
26:84 وَٱجْعَل لِّى لِسَانَ صِدْقٍ فِى ٱلْـَٔاخِرِينَ
26:84 "Grant me honourable mention on the tongue of truth among the latest (generations); - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
26:85 وَٱجْعَلْنِى مِن وَرَثَةِ جَنَّةِ ٱلنَّعِيمِ
26:85 "Make me one of the inheritors of the Garden of Bliss; - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
26:86 وَٱغْفِرْ لِأَبِىٓ إِنَّهُۥ كَانَ مِنَ ٱلضَّآلِّينَ
26:86 "Forgive my father, for that he is among those astray; - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
26:87 وَلَا تُخْزِنِى يَوْمَ يُبْعَثُونَ
26:87 "And let me not be in disgrace on the Day when (men) will be raised up;- - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
26:88 يَوْمَ لَا يَنفَعُ مَالٌ وَلَا بَنُونَ
26:88 "The Day whereon neither wealth nor sons will avail, - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
26:89 إِلَّا مَنْ أَتَى ٱللَّهَ بِقَلْبٍ سَلِيمٍ
26:89 "But only he (will prosper) that brings to Allah a sound heart; - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
26:90 وَأُزْلِفَتِ ٱلْجَنَّةُ لِلْمُتَّقِينَ
26:90 "To the righteous, the Garden will be brought near, - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
26:91 وَبُرِّزَتِ ٱلْجَحِيمُ لِلْغَاوِينَ
26:91 "And to those straying in Evil, the Fire will be placed in full view; - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
26:92 وَقِيلَ لَهُمْ أَيْنَ مَا كُنتُمْ تَعْبُدُونَ
26:92 "And it shall be said to them: 'Where are the (gods) ye worshipped- - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
26:93 مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ هَلْ يَنصُرُونَكُمْ أَوْ يَنتَصِرُونَ
26:93 "'Besides Allah? Can they help you or help themselves?' - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
26:94 فَكُبْكِبُوا۟ فِيهَا هُمْ وَٱلْغَاوُۥنَ
26:94 "Then they will be thrown headlong into the (Fire),- they and those straying in Evil, - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
26:95 وَجُنُودُ إِبْلِيسَ أَجْمَعُونَ
26:95 "And the whole hosts of Iblis together. - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
26:96 قَالُوا۟ وَهُمْ فِيهَا يَخْتَصِمُونَ
26:96 "They will say there in their mutual bickerings: - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
26:97 تَٱللَّهِ إِن كُنَّا لَفِى ضَلَـٰلٍ مُّبِينٍ
26:97 "'By Allah, we were truly in an error manifest, - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
26:98 إِذْ نُسَوِّيكُم بِرَبِّ ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ
26:98 "'When we held you as equals with the Lord of the Worlds; - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
26:99 وَمَآ أَضَلَّنَآ إِلَّا ٱلْمُجْرِمُونَ
26:99 "'And our seducers were only those who were steeped in guilt. - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
26:100 فَمَا لَنَا مِن شَـٰفِعِينَ
26:100 "'Now, then, we have none to intercede (for us), - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
26:101 وَلَا صَدِيقٍ حَمِيمٍ
26:101 "'Nor a single friend to feel (for us). - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
26:102 فَلَوْ أَنَّ لَنَا كَرَّةً فَنَكُونَ مِنَ ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ
26:102 "'Now if we only had a chance of return we shall truly be of those who believe!'" - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
26:103 إِنَّ فِى ذَٰلِكَ لَـَٔايَةً ۖ وَمَا كَانَ أَكْثَرُهُم مُّؤْمِنِينَ
26:103 Verily in this is a Sign but most of them do not believe. - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
26:104 وَإِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَهُوَ ٱلْعَزِيزُ ٱلرَّحِيمُ
26:104 And verily thy Lord is He, the Exalted in Might, Most Merciful. - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
26:105 كَذَّبَتْ قَوْمُ نُوحٍ ٱلْمُرْسَلِينَ
26:105 The people of Noah rejected the messengers. - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
26:106 إِذْ قَالَ لَهُمْ أَخُوهُمْ نُوحٌ أَلَا تَتَّقُونَ
26:106 Behold, their brother Noah said to them: "Will ye not fear (Allah)? - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
26:107 إِنِّى لَكُمْ رَسُولٌ أَمِينٌ
26:107 "I am to you a messenger worthy of all trust: - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
26:108 فَٱتَّقُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ وَأَطِيعُونِ
26:108 "So fear Allah, and obey me. - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
26:109 وَمَآ أَسْـَٔلُكُمْ عَلَيْهِ مِنْ أَجْرٍ ۖ إِنْ أَجْرِىَ إِلَّا عَلَىٰ رَبِّ ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ
26:109 "No reward do I ask of you for it: my reward is only from the Lord of the Worlds: - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
26:110 فَٱتَّقُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ وَأَطِيعُونِ
26:110 "So fear Allah, and obey me." - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
26:111 ۞ قَالُوٓا۟ أَنُؤْمِنُ لَكَ وَٱتَّبَعَكَ ٱلْأَرْذَلُونَ
26:111 They said: "Shall we believe in thee when it is the meanest that follow thee?" - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
26:112 قَالَ وَمَا عِلْمِى بِمَا كَانُوا۟ يَعْمَلُونَ
26:112 He said: "And what do I know as to what they do? - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
26:113 إِنْ حِسَابُهُمْ إِلَّا عَلَىٰ رَبِّى ۖ لَوْ تَشْعُرُونَ
26:113 "Their account is only with my Lord, if ye could (but) understand. - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
26:114 وَمَآ أَنَا۠ بِطَارِدِ ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ
26:114 "I am not one to drive away those who believe. - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
26:115 إِنْ أَنَا۠ إِلَّا نَذِيرٌ مُّبِينٌ
26:115 "I am sent only to warn plainly in public." - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
26:116 قَالُوا۟ لَئِن لَّمْ تَنتَهِ يَـٰنُوحُ لَتَكُونَنَّ مِنَ ٱلْمَرْجُومِينَ
26:116 They said: "If thou desist not, O Noah! thou shalt be stoned (to death)." - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
26:117 قَالَ رَبِّ إِنَّ قَوْمِى كَذَّبُونِ
26:117 He said: "O my Lord! truly my people have rejected me. - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
26:118 فَٱفْتَحْ بَيْنِى وَبَيْنَهُمْ فَتْحًا وَنَجِّنِى وَمَن مَّعِىَ مِنَ ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ
26:118 "Judge Thou, then, between me and them openly, and deliver me and those of the Believers who are with me." - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
26:119 فَأَنجَيْنَـٰهُ وَمَن مَّعَهُۥ فِى ٱلْفُلْكِ ٱلْمَشْحُونِ
26:119 So We delivered him and those with him, in the Ark filled (with all creatures). - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
26:120 ثُمَّ أَغْرَقْنَا بَعْدُ ٱلْبَاقِينَ
26:120 Thereafter We drowned those who remained behind. - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
26:121 إِنَّ فِى ذَٰلِكَ لَـَٔايَةً ۖ وَمَا كَانَ أَكْثَرُهُم مُّؤْمِنِينَ
26:121 Verily in this is a Sign: but most of them do not believe. - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
26:122 وَإِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَهُوَ ٱلْعَزِيزُ ٱلرَّحِيمُ
26:122 And verily thy Lord is He, the Exalted in Might, Most Merciful. - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
26:123 كَذَّبَتْ عَادٌ ٱلْمُرْسَلِينَ
26:123 The 'Ad (people) rejected the messengers. - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
26:124 إِذْ قَالَ لَهُمْ أَخُوهُمْ هُودٌ أَلَا تَتَّقُونَ
26:124 Behold, their brother Hud said to them: "Will ye not fear (Allah)? - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
26:125 إِنِّى لَكُمْ رَسُولٌ أَمِينٌ
26:125 "I am to you a messenger worthy of all trust: - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
26:126 فَٱتَّقُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ وَأَطِيعُونِ
26:126 "So fear Allah and obey me. - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
26:127 وَمَآ أَسْـَٔلُكُمْ عَلَيْهِ مِنْ أَجْرٍ ۖ إِنْ أَجْرِىَ إِلَّا عَلَىٰ رَبِّ ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ
26:127 "No reward do I ask of you for it: my reward is only from the Lord of the Worlds. - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
26:128 أَتَبْنُونَ بِكُلِّ رِيعٍ ءَايَةً تَعْبَثُونَ
26:128 "Do ye build a landmark on every high place to amuse yourselves? - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
26:129 وَتَتَّخِذُونَ مَصَانِعَ لَعَلَّكُمْ تَخْلُدُونَ
26:129 "And do ye get for yourselves fine buildings in the hope of living therein (for ever)? - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
26:130 وَإِذَا بَطَشْتُم بَطَشْتُمْ جَبَّارِينَ
26:130 "And when ye exert your strong hand, do ye do it like men of absolute power? - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
26:131 فَٱتَّقُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ وَأَطِيعُونِ
26:131 "Now fear Allah, and obey me. - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
26:132 وَٱتَّقُوا۟ ٱلَّذِىٓ أَمَدَّكُم بِمَا تَعْلَمُونَ
26:132 "Yea, fear Him Who has bestowed on you freely all that ye know. - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
26:133 أَمَدَّكُم بِأَنْعَـٰمٍ وَبَنِينَ
26:133 "Freely has He bestowed on you cattle and sons,- - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
26:134 وَجَنَّـٰتٍ وَعُيُونٍ
26:134 "And Gardens and Springs. - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
26:135 إِنِّىٓ أَخَافُ عَلَيْكُمْ عَذَابَ يَوْمٍ عَظِيمٍ
26:135 "Truly I fear for you the Penalty of a Great Day." - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
26:136 قَالُوا۟ سَوَآءٌ عَلَيْنَآ أَوَعَظْتَ أَمْ لَمْ تَكُن مِّنَ ٱلْوَٰعِظِينَ
26:136 They said: "It is the same to us whether thou admonish us or be not among (our) admonishers! - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
26:137 إِنْ هَـٰذَآ إِلَّا خُلُقُ ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ
26:137 "This is no other than a customary device of the ancients, - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
26:138 وَمَا نَحْنُ بِمُعَذَّبِينَ
26:138 "And we are not the ones to receive Pains and Penalties!" - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
26:139 فَكَذَّبُوهُ فَأَهْلَكْنَـٰهُمْ ۗ إِنَّ فِى ذَٰلِكَ لَـَٔايَةً ۖ وَمَا كَانَ أَكْثَرُهُم مُّؤْمِنِينَ
26:139 So they rejected him, and We destroyed them. Verily in this is a Sign: but most of them do not believe. - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
26:140 وَإِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَهُوَ ٱلْعَزِيزُ ٱلرَّحِيمُ
26:140 And verily thy Lord is He, the Exalted in Might, Most Merciful. - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
26:141 كَذَّبَتْ ثَمُودُ ٱلْمُرْسَلِينَ
26:141 The Thamud (people) rejected the messengers. - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
26:142 إِذْ قَالَ لَهُمْ أَخُوهُمْ صَـٰلِحٌ أَلَا تَتَّقُونَ
26:142 Behold, their brother Salih said to them: "Will you not fear (Allah)? - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
26:143 إِنِّى لَكُمْ رَسُولٌ أَمِينٌ
26:143 "I am to you a messenger worthy of all trust. - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
26:144 فَٱتَّقُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ وَأَطِيعُونِ
26:144 "So fear Allah, and obey me. - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
26:145 وَمَآ أَسْـَٔلُكُمْ عَلَيْهِ مِنْ أَجْرٍ ۖ إِنْ أَجْرِىَ إِلَّا عَلَىٰ رَبِّ ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ
26:145 "No reward do I ask of you for it: my reward is only from the Lord of the Worlds. - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
26:146 أَتُتْرَكُونَ فِى مَا هَـٰهُنَآ ءَامِنِينَ
26:146 "Will ye be left secure, in (the enjoyment of) all that ye have here?- - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
26:147 فِى جَنَّـٰتٍ وَعُيُونٍ
26:147 "Gardens and Springs, - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
26:148 وَزُرُوعٍ وَنَخْلٍ طَلْعُهَا هَضِيمٌ
26:148 "And corn-fields and date-palms with spathes near breaking (with the weight of fruit)? - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
26:149 وَتَنْحِتُونَ مِنَ ٱلْجِبَالِ بُيُوتًا فَـٰرِهِينَ
26:149 "And ye carve houses out of (rocky) mountains with great skill. - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
26:150 فَٱتَّقُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ وَأَطِيعُونِ
26:150 "But fear Allah and obey me; - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
26:151 وَلَا تُطِيعُوٓا۟ أَمْرَ ٱلْمُسْرِفِينَ
26:151 "And follow not the bidding of those who are extravagant,- - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
26:152 ٱلَّذِينَ يُفْسِدُونَ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ وَلَا يُصْلِحُونَ
26:152 "Who make mischief in the land, and mend not (their ways)." - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
26:153 قَالُوٓا۟ إِنَّمَآ أَنتَ مِنَ ٱلْمُسَحَّرِينَ
26:153 They said: "Thou art only one of those bewitched! - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
26:154 مَآ أَنتَ إِلَّا بَشَرٌ مِّثْلُنَا فَأْتِ بِـَٔايَةٍ إِن كُنتَ مِنَ ٱلصَّـٰدِقِينَ
26:154 "Thou art no more than a mortal like us: then bring us a Sign, if thou tellest the truth!" - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
26:155 قَالَ هَـٰذِهِۦ نَاقَةٌ لَّهَا شِرْبٌ وَلَكُمْ شِرْبُ يَوْمٍ مَّعْلُومٍ
26:155 He said: "Here is a she-camel: she has a right of watering, and ye have a right of watering, (severally) on a day appointed. - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
26:156 وَلَا تَمَسُّوهَا بِسُوٓءٍ فَيَأْخُذَكُمْ عَذَابُ يَوْمٍ عَظِيمٍ
26:156 "Touch her not with harm, lest the Penalty of a Great Day seize you." - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
26:157 فَعَقَرُوهَا فَأَصْبَحُوا۟ نَـٰدِمِينَ
26:157 But they ham-strung her: then did they become full of regrets. - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
26:158 فَأَخَذَهُمُ ٱلْعَذَابُ ۗ إِنَّ فِى ذَٰلِكَ لَـَٔايَةً ۖ وَمَا كَانَ أَكْثَرُهُم مُّؤْمِنِينَ
26:158 But the Penalty seized them. Verily in this is a Sign: but most of them do not believe. - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
26:159 وَإِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَهُوَ ٱلْعَزِيزُ ٱلرَّحِيمُ

26:160 كَذَّبَتْ قَوْمُ لُوطٍ ٱلْمُرْسَلِينَ
26:160 The people of Lut rejected the messengers. - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
26:161 إِذْ قَالَ لَهُمْ أَخُوهُمْ لُوطٌ أَلَا تَتَّقُونَ
26:161 Behold, their brother Lut said to them: "Will ye not fear (Allah)? - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
26:162 إِنِّى لَكُمْ رَسُولٌ أَمِينٌ
26:162 "I am to you a messenger worthy of all trust. - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
26:163 فَٱتَّقُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ وَأَطِيعُونِ
26:163 "So fear Allah and obey me. - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
26:164 وَمَآ أَسْـَٔلُكُمْ عَلَيْهِ مِنْ أَجْرٍ ۖ إِنْ أَجْرِىَ إِلَّا عَلَىٰ رَبِّ ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ
26:164 "No reward do I ask of you for it: my reward is only from the lord of the Worlds. - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
26:165 أَتَأْتُونَ ٱلذُّكْرَانَ مِنَ ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ
26:165 "Of all the creatures in the world, will ye approach males, - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
26:166 وَتَذَرُونَ مَا خَلَقَ لَكُمْ رَبُّكُم مِّنْ أَزْوَٰجِكُم ۚ بَلْ أَنتُمْ قَوْمٌ عَادُونَ
26:166 "And leave those whom Allah has created for you to be your mates? Nay, ye are a people transgressing (all limits)!" - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
26:167 قَالُوا۟ لَئِن لَّمْ تَنتَهِ يَـٰلُوطُ لَتَكُونَنَّ مِنَ ٱلْمُخْرَجِينَ
26:167 They said: "If thou desist not, O Lut! thou wilt assuredly be cast out!" - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
26:168 قَالَ إِنِّى لِعَمَلِكُم مِّنَ ٱلْقَالِينَ
26:168 He said: "I do detest your doings." - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
26:169 رَبِّ نَجِّنِى وَأَهْلِى مِمَّا يَعْمَلُونَ
26:169 "O my Lord! deliver me and my family from such things as they do!" - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
26:170 فَنَجَّيْنَـٰهُ وَأَهْلَهُۥٓ أَجْمَعِينَ
26:170 So We delivered him and his family,- all - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
26:171 إِلَّا عَجُوزًا فِى ٱلْغَـٰبِرِينَ
26:171 Except an old woman who lingered behind. - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
26:172 ثُمَّ دَمَّرْنَا ٱلْـَٔاخَرِينَ
26:172 But the rest We destroyed utterly. - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
26:173 وَأَمْطَرْنَا عَلَيْهِم مَّطَرًا ۖ فَسَآءَ مَطَرُ ٱلْمُنذَرِينَ
26:173 We rained down on them a shower (of brimstone): and evil was the shower on those who were admonished (but heeded not)! - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
26:174 إِنَّ فِى ذَٰلِكَ لَـَٔايَةً ۖ وَمَا كَانَ أَكْثَرُهُم مُّؤْمِنِينَ
26:174 Verily in this is a Sign: but most of them do not believe. - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
26:175 وَإِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَهُوَ ٱلْعَزِيزُ ٱلرَّحِيمُ
26:175 And verily thy Lord is He, the Exalted in Might Most Merciful. - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
26:176 كَذَّبَ أَصْحَـٰبُ لْـَٔيْكَةِ ٱلْمُرْسَلِينَ
26:176 The Companions of the Wood rejected the messengers. - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
26:177 إِذْ قَالَ لَهُمْ شُعَيْبٌ أَلَا تَتَّقُونَ
26:177 Behold, Shu'aib said to them: "Will ye not fear (Allah)? - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
26:178 إِنِّى لَكُمْ رَسُولٌ أَمِينٌ
26:178 "I am to you a messenger worthy of all trust. - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
26:179 فَٱتَّقُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ وَأَطِيعُونِ
26:179 "So fear Allah and obey me. - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
26:180 وَمَآ أَسْـَٔلُكُمْ عَلَيْهِ مِنْ أَجْرٍ ۖ إِنْ أَجْرِىَ إِلَّا عَلَىٰ رَبِّ ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ
26:180 "No reward do I ask of you for it: my reward is only from the Lord of the Worlds. - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
26:181 ۞ أَوْفُوا۟ ٱلْكَيْلَ وَلَا تَكُونُوا۟ مِنَ ٱلْمُخْسِرِينَ
26:181 "Give just measure, and cause no loss (to others by fraud). - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
26:182 وَزِنُوا۟ بِٱلْقِسْطَاسِ ٱلْمُسْتَقِيمِ
26:182 "And weigh with scales true and upright. - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
26:183 وَلَا تَبْخَسُوا۟ ٱلنَّاسَ أَشْيَآءَهُمْ وَلَا تَعْثَوْا۟ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ مُفْسِدِينَ
26:183 "And withhold not things justly due to men, nor do evil in the land, working mischief. - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
26:184 وَٱتَّقُوا۟ ٱلَّذِى خَلَقَكُمْ وَٱلْجِبِلَّةَ ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ
26:184 "And fear Him Who created you and (who created) the generations before (you)" - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
26:185 قَالُوٓا۟ إِنَّمَآ أَنتَ مِنَ ٱلْمُسَحَّرِينَ
26:185 They said: "Thou art only one of those bewitched! - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
26:186 وَمَآ أَنتَ إِلَّا بَشَرٌ مِّثْلُنَا وَإِن نَّظُنُّكَ لَمِنَ ٱلْكَـٰذِبِينَ
26:186 "Thou art no more than a mortal like us, and indeed we think thou art a liar! - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
26:187 فَأَسْقِطْ عَلَيْنَا كِسَفًا مِّنَ ٱلسَّمَآءِ إِن كُنتَ مِنَ ٱلصَّـٰدِقِينَ
26:187 "Now cause a piece of the sky to fall on us, if thou art truthful!" - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
26:188 قَالَ رَبِّىٓ أَعْلَمُ بِمَا تَعْمَلُونَ
26:188 He said: "My Lord knows best what ye do." - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
26:189 فَكَذَّبُوهُ فَأَخَذَهُمْ عَذَابُ يَوْمِ ٱلظُّلَّةِ ۚ إِنَّهُۥ كَانَ عَذَابَ يَوْمٍ عَظِيمٍ
26:189 But they rejected him. Then the punishment of a day of overshadowing gloom seized them, and that was the Penalty of a Great Day. - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
26:190 إِنَّ فِى ذَٰلِكَ لَـَٔايَةً ۖ وَمَا كَانَ أَكْثَرُهُم مُّؤْمِنِينَ
26:190 Verily in that is a Sign: but most of them do not believe. - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
26:191 وَإِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَهُوَ ٱلْعَزِيزُ ٱلرَّحِيمُ
26:191 And verily thy Lord is He, the Exalted in Might, Most Merciful. - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
26:192 وَإِنَّهُۥ لَتَنزِيلُ رَبِّ ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ
26:192 Verily this is a Revelation from the Lord of the Worlds: - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
26:193 نَزَلَ بِهِ ٱلرُّوحُ ٱلْأَمِينُ
26:193 With it came down the spirit of Faith and Truth- - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
26:194 عَلَىٰ قَلْبِكَ لِتَكُونَ مِنَ ٱلْمُنذِرِينَ
26:194 To thy heart and mind, that thou mayest admonish. - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
26:195 بِلِسَانٍ عَرَبِىٍّ مُّبِينٍ
26:195 In the perspicuous Arabic tongue. - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
26:196 وَإِنَّهُۥ لَفِى زُبُرِ ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ
26:196 Without doubt it is (announced) in the mystic Books of former peoples. - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
26:197 أَوَلَمْ يَكُن لَّهُمْ ءَايَةً أَن يَعْلَمَهُۥ عُلَمَـٰٓؤُا۟ بَنِىٓ إِسْرَٰٓءِيلَ
26:197 Is it not a Sign to them that the Learned of the Children of Israel knew it (as true)? - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
26:198 وَلَوْ نَزَّلْنَـٰهُ عَلَىٰ بَعْضِ ٱلْأَعْجَمِينَ
26:198 Had We revealed it to any of the non-Arabs, - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
26:199 فَقَرَأَهُۥ عَلَيْهِم مَّا كَانُوا۟ بِهِۦ مُؤْمِنِينَ
26:199 And had he recited it to them, they would not have believed in it. - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
26:200 كَذَٰلِكَ سَلَكْنَـٰهُ فِى قُلُوبِ ٱلْمُجْرِمِينَ
26:200 Thus have We caused it to enter the hearts of the sinners. - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
26:201 لَا يُؤْمِنُونَ بِهِۦ حَتَّىٰ يَرَوُا۟ ٱلْعَذَابَ ٱلْأَلِيمَ
26:201 They will not believe in it until they see the grievous Penalty; - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
26:202 فَيَأْتِيَهُم بَغْتَةً وَهُمْ لَا يَشْعُرُونَ
26:202 But the (Penalty) will come to them of a sudden, while they perceive it not; - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
26:203 فَيَقُولُوا۟ هَلْ نَحْنُ مُنظَرُونَ
26:203 Then they will say: "Shall we be respited?" - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
26:204 أَفَبِعَذَابِنَا يَسْتَعْجِلُونَ
26:204 Do they then ask for Our Penalty to be hastened on? - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
26:205 أَفَرَءَيْتَ إِن مَّتَّعْنَـٰهُمْ سِنِينَ
26:205 Seest thou? If We do let them enjoy (this life) for a few years, - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
26:206 ثُمَّ جَآءَهُم مَّا كَانُوا۟ يُوعَدُونَ
26:206 Yet there comes to them at length the (Punishment) which they were promised! - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
26:207 مَآ أَغْنَىٰ عَنْهُم مَّا كَانُوا۟ يُمَتَّعُونَ
26:207 It will profit them not that they enjoyed (this life)! - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
26:208 وَمَآ أَهْلَكْنَا مِن قَرْيَةٍ إِلَّا لَهَا مُنذِرُونَ
26:208 Never did We destroy a population, but had its warners - - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
26:209 ذِكْرَىٰ وَمَا كُنَّا ظَـٰلِمِينَ
26:209 By way of reminder; and We never are unjust. - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
26:210 وَمَا تَنَزَّلَتْ بِهِ ٱلشَّيَـٰطِينُ
26:210 No evil ones have brought down this (Revelation): - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
26:211 وَمَا يَنۢبَغِى لَهُمْ وَمَا يَسْتَطِيعُونَ
26:211 It would neither suit them nor would they be able (to produce it). - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
26:212 إِنَّهُمْ عَنِ ٱلسَّمْعِ لَمَعْزُولُونَ
26:212 Indeed they have been removed far from even (a chance of) hearing it. - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
26:213 فَلَا تَدْعُ مَعَ ٱللَّهِ إِلَـٰهًا ءَاخَرَ فَتَكُونَ مِنَ ٱلْمُعَذَّبِينَ
26:213 So call not on any other god with Allah, or thou wilt be among those under the Penalty. - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
26:214 وَأَنذِرْ عَشِيرَتَكَ ٱلْأَقْرَبِينَ
26:214 And admonish thy nearest kinsmen, - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
26:215 وَٱخْفِضْ جَنَاحَكَ لِمَنِ ٱتَّبَعَكَ مِنَ ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ
26:215 And lower thy wing to the Believers who follow thee. - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
26:216 فَإِنْ عَصَوْكَ فَقُلْ إِنِّى بَرِىٓءٌ مِّمَّا تَعْمَلُونَ
26:216 Then if they disobey thee, say: "I am free (of responsibility) for what ye do!" - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
26:217 وَتَوَكَّلْ عَلَى ٱلْعَزِيزِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
26:217 And put thy trust on the Exalted in Might, the Merciful,- - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
26:218 ٱلَّذِى يَرَىٰكَ حِينَ تَقُومُ
26:218 Who seeth thee standing forth (in prayer), - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
26:219 وَتَقَلُّبَكَ فِى ٱلسَّـٰجِدِينَ
26:219 And thy movements among those who prostrate themselves, - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
26:220 إِنَّهُۥ هُوَ ٱلسَّمِيعُ ٱلْعَلِيمُ
26:220 For it is He Who heareth and knoweth all things. - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
26:221 هَلْ أُنَبِّئُكُمْ عَلَىٰ مَن تَنَزَّلُ ٱلشَّيَـٰطِينُ
26:221 Shall I inform you, (O people!), on whom it is that the evil ones descend? - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
26:222 تَنَزَّلُ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ أَفَّاكٍ أَثِيمٍ
26:222 They descend on every lying, wicked person, - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
26:223 يُلْقُونَ ٱلسَّمْعَ وَأَكْثَرُهُمْ كَـٰذِبُونَ
26:223 (Into whose ears) they pour hearsay vanities, and most of them are liars. - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
26:224 وَٱلشُّعَرَآءُ يَتَّبِعُهُمُ ٱلْغَاوُۥنَ
26:224 And the Poets,- It is those straying in Evil, who follow them: - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
26:225 أَلَمْ تَرَ أَنَّهُمْ فِى كُلِّ وَادٍ يَهِيمُونَ
26:225 Seest thou not that they wander distracted in every valley?- - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
26:226 وَأَنَّهُمْ يَقُولُونَ مَا لَا يَفْعَلُونَ
26:226 And that they say what they practise not?- - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
26:227 إِلَّا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَعَمِلُوا۟ ٱلصَّـٰلِحَـٰتِ وَذَكَرُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ كَثِيرًا وَٱنتَصَرُوا۟ مِنۢ بَعْدِ مَا ظُلِمُوا۟ ۗ وَسَيَعْلَمُ ٱلَّذِينَ ظَلَمُوٓا۟ أَىَّ مُنقَلَبٍ يَنقَلِبُونَ
26:227 Except those who believe, work righteousness, engage much in the remembrance of Allah, and defend themselves only after they are unjustly attacked. And soon will the unjust assailants know what vicissitudes their affairs will take! - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
