بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.

83:1 وَيْلٌ لِّلْمُطَفِّفِينَ
83:1 Woe to those who give short measure, - Wahiduddin Khan (English)

83:2 ٱلَّذِينَ إِذَا ٱكْتَالُوا۟ عَلَى ٱلنَّاسِ يَسْتَوْفُونَ
83:2 who demand of other people full measure for themselves, - Wahiduddin Khan (English)

83:3 وَإِذَا كَالُوهُمْ أَو وَّزَنُوهُمْ يُخْسِرُونَ
83:3 but when they give by measurement or weight to others, they give them less. - Wahiduddin Khan (English)

83:4 أَلَا يَظُنُّ أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ أَنَّهُم مَّبْعُوثُونَ
83:4 Do such people not realize that they will be raised up, - Wahiduddin Khan (English)

83:5 لِيَوْمٍ عَظِيمٍ
83:5 on a fateful Day. - Wahiduddin Khan (English)

83:6 يَوْمَ يَقُومُ ٱلنَّاسُ لِرَبِّ ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ
83:6 The Day when mankind will stand before the Lord of the Universe? - Wahiduddin Khan (English)

83:7 كَلَّآ إِنَّ كِتَـٰبَ ٱلْفُجَّارِ لَفِى سِجِّينٍ
83:7 Indeed! The record of the wicked is in the Sijjin -- - Wahiduddin Khan (English)

83:8 وَمَآ أَدْرَىٰكَ مَا سِجِّينٌ
83:8 and what could make you understand what the Sijjin is? -- - Wahiduddin Khan (English)

83:9 كِتَـٰبٌ مَّرْقُومٌ
83:9 it is a written record. - Wahiduddin Khan (English)

83:10 وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ
83:10 Woe, on that Day, to those who reject, - Wahiduddin Khan (English)

83:11 ٱلَّذِينَ يُكَذِّبُونَ بِيَوْمِ ٱلدِّينِ
83:11 those who deny the Day of Judgement. - Wahiduddin Khan (English)

83:12 وَمَا يُكَذِّبُ بِهِۦٓ إِلَّا كُلُّ مُعْتَدٍ أَثِيمٍ
83:12 No one denies it except for the evil aggressor. - Wahiduddin Khan (English)

83:13 إِذَا تُتْلَىٰ عَلَيْهِ ءَايَـٰتُنَا قَالَ أَسَـٰطِيرُ ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ
83:13 When Our revelations are conveyed to him, he says, "Fables of the ancients!" - Wahiduddin Khan (English)

83:14 كَلَّا ۖ بَلْ ۜ رَانَ عَلَىٰ قُلُوبِهِم مَّا كَانُوا۟ يَكْسِبُونَ
83:14 No! Their own deeds have cast a veil over their hearts. - Wahiduddin Khan (English)

83:15 كَلَّآ إِنَّهُمْ عَن رَّبِّهِمْ يَوْمَئِذٍ لَّمَحْجُوبُونَ
83:15 Indeed! On that Day a barrier will be set between them and their Lord, - Wahiduddin Khan (English)

83:16 ثُمَّ إِنَّهُمْ لَصَالُوا۟ ٱلْجَحِيمِ
83:16 then they shall enter the Fire of Hell, - Wahiduddin Khan (English)

83:17 ثُمَّ يُقَالُ هَـٰذَا ٱلَّذِى كُنتُم بِهِۦ تُكَذِّبُونَ
83:17 and they will be told, "This is what you were wont to belie." - Wahiduddin Khan (English)

83:18 كَلَّآ إِنَّ كِتَـٰبَ ٱلْأَبْرَارِ لَفِى عِلِّيِّينَ
83:18 But, the record of the righteous is [preserved] in the 'Illiyyin -- - Wahiduddin Khan (English)

83:19 وَمَآ أَدْرَىٰكَ مَا عِلِّيُّونَ
83:19 and what will make you understand what the 'Illiyyin is? -- - Wahiduddin Khan (English)

83:20 كِتَـٰبٌ مَّرْقُومٌ
83:20 a written record, - Wahiduddin Khan (English)

83:21 يَشْهَدُهُ ٱلْمُقَرَّبُونَ
83:21 which those angels closest to God will bear witness to. - Wahiduddin Khan (English)

83:22 إِنَّ ٱلْأَبْرَارَ لَفِى نَعِيمٍ
83:22 The virtuous will surely be in bliss, - Wahiduddin Khan (English)

83:23 عَلَى ٱلْأَرَآئِكِ يَنظُرُونَ
83:23 seated on couches and gazing around in wonder. - Wahiduddin Khan (English)

83:24 تَعْرِفُ فِى وُجُوهِهِمْ نَضْرَةَ ٱلنَّعِيمِ
83:24 You will find in their faces the brightness of bliss. - Wahiduddin Khan (English)

83:25 يُسْقَوْنَ مِن رَّحِيقٍ مَّخْتُومٍ
83:25 They will be given a drink of pure wine, sealed, - Wahiduddin Khan (English)

83:26 خِتَـٰمُهُۥ مِسْكٌ ۚ وَفِى ذَٰلِكَ فَلْيَتَنَافَسِ ٱلْمُتَنَـٰفِسُونَ
83:26 its seal will be of musk -- for this let the aspirants aspire -- - Wahiduddin Khan (English)

83:27 وَمِزَاجُهُۥ مِن تَسْنِيمٍ
83:27 a wine tempered with the waters of Tasnim, - Wahiduddin Khan (English)

83:28 عَيْنًا يَشْرَبُ بِهَا ٱلْمُقَرَّبُونَ
83:28 a spring at which those drawn close to God will drink. - Wahiduddin Khan (English)

83:29 إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ أَجْرَمُوا۟ كَانُوا۟ مِنَ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ يَضْحَكُونَ
83:29 The wicked used to laugh at the believers -- - Wahiduddin Khan (English)

83:30 وَإِذَا مَرُّوا۟ بِهِمْ يَتَغَامَزُونَ
83:30 when they passed by them, they would wink at one another; - Wahiduddin Khan (English)

83:31 وَإِذَا ٱنقَلَبُوٓا۟ إِلَىٰٓ أَهْلِهِمُ ٱنقَلَبُوا۟ فَكِهِينَ
83:31 and when they returned to their own people, they would speak of them jestingly; - Wahiduddin Khan (English)

83:32 وَإِذَا رَأَوْهُمْ قَالُوٓا۟ إِنَّ هَـٰٓؤُلَآءِ لَضَآلُّونَ
83:32 and when they saw them, they said [scornfully], "These men have surely gone astray," - Wahiduddin Khan (English)

83:33 وَمَآ أُرْسِلُوا۟ عَلَيْهِمْ حَـٰفِظِينَ
83:33 though they were not sent to be their keepers -- - Wahiduddin Khan (English)

83:34 فَٱلْيَوْمَ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ مِنَ ٱلْكُفَّارِ يَضْحَكُونَ
83:34 so today those who believe shall [be able to] laugh at those who denied the truth - Wahiduddin Khan (English)

83:35 عَلَى ٱلْأَرَآئِكِ يَنظُرُونَ
83:35 as they sit on couches, gazing around. - Wahiduddin Khan (English)

83:36 هَلْ ثُوِّبَ ٱلْكُفَّارُ مَا كَانُوا۟ يَفْعَلُونَ
83:36 Have those who deny the truth [not] been paid back for their deeds? - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
