بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.
83:1
وَيْلٌ لِّلْمُطَفِّفِينَ
83:1
Woe to the defrauders, - Mohammad Habib Shakir (English)
83:2
ٱلَّذِينَ إِذَا ٱكْتَالُوا۟ عَلَى ٱلنَّاسِ يَسْتَوْفُونَ
83:2
Who, when they take the measure (of their dues) from men take it fully, - Mohammad Habib Shakir (English)
83:3
وَإِذَا كَالُوهُمْ أَو وَّزَنُوهُمْ يُخْسِرُونَ
83:3
But when they measure out to others or weigh out for them, they are deficient. - Mohammad Habib Shakir (English)
83:4
أَلَا يَظُنُّ أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ أَنَّهُم مَّبْعُوثُونَ
83:4
Do not these think that they shall be raised again - Mohammad Habib Shakir (English)
83:5
لِيَوْمٍ عَظِيمٍ
83:5
For a mighty day, - Mohammad Habib Shakir (English)
83:6
يَوْمَ يَقُومُ ٱلنَّاسُ لِرَبِّ ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ
83:6
The day on which men shall stand before the Lord of the worlds? - Mohammad Habib Shakir (English)
83:7
كَلَّآ إِنَّ كِتَـٰبَ ٱلْفُجَّارِ لَفِى سِجِّينٍ
83:7
Nay! most surely the record of the wicked is in the Sijjin. - Mohammad Habib Shakir (English)
83:8
وَمَآ أَدْرَىٰكَ مَا سِجِّينٌ
83:8
And what will make you know what the Sijjin is? - Mohammad Habib Shakir (English)
83:9
كِتَـٰبٌ مَّرْقُومٌ
83:9
It is a written book. - Mohammad Habib Shakir (English)
83:10
وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ
83:10
Woe on that day to the rejecters, - Mohammad Habib Shakir (English)
83:11
ٱلَّذِينَ يُكَذِّبُونَ بِيَوْمِ ٱلدِّينِ
83:11
Who give the lie to the day of judgment. - Mohammad Habib Shakir (English)
83:12
وَمَا يُكَذِّبُ بِهِۦٓ إِلَّا كُلُّ مُعْتَدٍ أَثِيمٍ
83:12
And none gives the lie to it but every exceeder of limits, sinful one - Mohammad Habib Shakir (English)
83:13
إِذَا تُتْلَىٰ عَلَيْهِ ءَايَـٰتُنَا قَالَ أَسَـٰطِيرُ ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ
83:13
When Our communications are recited to him, he says: Stories of those of yore. - Mohammad Habib Shakir (English)
83:14
كَلَّا ۖ بَلْ ۜ رَانَ عَلَىٰ قُلُوبِهِم مَّا كَانُوا۟ يَكْسِبُونَ
83:14
Nay! rather, what they used to do has become like rust upon their hearts. - Mohammad Habib Shakir (English)
83:15
كَلَّآ إِنَّهُمْ عَن رَّبِّهِمْ يَوْمَئِذٍ لَّمَحْجُوبُونَ
83:15
Nay! most surely they shall on that day be debarred from their Lord. - Mohammad Habib Shakir (English)
83:16
ثُمَّ إِنَّهُمْ لَصَالُوا۟ ٱلْجَحِيمِ
83:16
Then most surely they shall enter the burning fire. - Mohammad Habib Shakir (English)
83:17
ثُمَّ يُقَالُ هَـٰذَا ٱلَّذِى كُنتُم بِهِۦ تُكَذِّبُونَ
83:17
Then shall it be said: This is what you gave the lie to. - Mohammad Habib Shakir (English)
83:18
كَلَّآ إِنَّ كِتَـٰبَ ٱلْأَبْرَارِ لَفِى عِلِّيِّينَ
83:18
Nay! Most surely the record of the righteous shall be in the Iliyin. - Mohammad Habib Shakir (English)
83:19
وَمَآ أَدْرَىٰكَ مَا عِلِّيُّونَ
83:19
And what will make you know what the highest Iliyin is? - Mohammad Habib Shakir (English)
83:20
كِتَـٰبٌ مَّرْقُومٌ
83:20
It is a written book, - Mohammad Habib Shakir (English)
83:21
يَشْهَدُهُ ٱلْمُقَرَّبُونَ
83:21
Those who are drawn near (to Allah) shall witness it. - Mohammad Habib Shakir (English)
83:22
إِنَّ ٱلْأَبْرَارَ لَفِى نَعِيمٍ
83:22
Most surely the righteous shall be in bliss, - Mohammad Habib Shakir (English)
83:23
عَلَى ٱلْأَرَآئِكِ يَنظُرُونَ
83:23
On thrones, they shall gaze; - Mohammad Habib Shakir (English)
83:24
تَعْرِفُ فِى وُجُوهِهِمْ نَضْرَةَ ٱلنَّعِيمِ
83:24
You will recognize in their faces the brightness of bliss. - Mohammad Habib Shakir (English)
83:25
يُسْقَوْنَ مِن رَّحِيقٍ مَّخْتُومٍ
83:25
They are made to quaff of a pure drink that is sealed (to others). - Mohammad Habib Shakir (English)
83:26
خِتَـٰمُهُۥ مِسْكٌ ۚ وَفِى ذَٰلِكَ فَلْيَتَنَافَسِ ٱلْمُتَنَـٰفِسُونَ
83:26
The sealing of it is (with) musk; and for that let the aspirers aspire. - Mohammad Habib Shakir (English)
83:27
وَمِزَاجُهُۥ مِن تَسْنِيمٍ
83:27
And the admixture of it is a water of Tasnim, - Mohammad Habib Shakir (English)
83:28
عَيْنًا يَشْرَبُ بِهَا ٱلْمُقَرَّبُونَ
83:28
A fountain from which drink they who are drawn near (to Allah). - Mohammad Habib Shakir (English)
83:29
إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ أَجْرَمُوا۟ كَانُوا۟ مِنَ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ يَضْحَكُونَ
83:29
Surely they who are guilty used to laugh at those who believe. - Mohammad Habib Shakir (English)
83:30
وَإِذَا مَرُّوا۟ بِهِمْ يَتَغَامَزُونَ
83:30
And when they passed by them, they winked at one another. - Mohammad Habib Shakir (English)
83:31
وَإِذَا ٱنقَلَبُوٓا۟ إِلَىٰٓ أَهْلِهِمُ ٱنقَلَبُوا۟ فَكِهِينَ
83:31
And when they returned to their own followers they returned exulting. - Mohammad Habib Shakir (English)
83:32
وَإِذَا رَأَوْهُمْ قَالُوٓا۟ إِنَّ هَـٰٓؤُلَآءِ لَضَآلُّونَ
83:32
And when they saw them, they said: Most surely these are in error; - Mohammad Habib Shakir (English)
83:33
وَمَآ أُرْسِلُوا۟ عَلَيْهِمْ حَـٰفِظِينَ
83:33
And they were not sent to be keepers over them. - Mohammad Habib Shakir (English)
83:34
فَٱلْيَوْمَ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ مِنَ ٱلْكُفَّارِ يَضْحَكُونَ
83:34
So today those who believe shall laugh at the unbelievers; - Mohammad Habib Shakir (English)
83:35
عَلَى ٱلْأَرَآئِكِ يَنظُرُونَ
83:35
On thrones, they will look. - Mohammad Habib Shakir (English)
83:36
هَلْ ثُوِّبَ ٱلْكُفَّارُ مَا كَانُوا۟ يَفْعَلُونَ
83:36
Surely the disbelievers are rewarded as they did. - Mohammad Habib Shakir (English)
