بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.
44:1
حمٓ
44:1
Ha-Meem. (Alphabets of the Arabic language – Allah, and to whomever He reveals, know their precise meanings.) - Ahmed Raza Khan (English)
44:2
وَٱلْكِتَـٰبِ ٱلْمُبِينِ
44:2
By oath of this clear Book. - Ahmed Raza Khan (English)
44:3
إِنَّآ أَنزَلْنَـٰهُ فِى لَيْلَةٍ مُّبَـٰرَكَةٍ ۚ إِنَّا كُنَّا مُنذِرِينَ
44:3
We have indeed sent it down in a blessed night – indeed it is We Who warn. - Ahmed Raza Khan (English)
44:4
فِيهَا يُفْرَقُ كُلُّ أَمْرٍ حَكِيمٍ
44:4
During it are distributed all the works of wisdom. - Ahmed Raza Khan (English)
44:5
أَمْرًا مِّنْ عِندِنَآ ۚ إِنَّا كُنَّا مُرْسِلِينَ
44:5
By a command from Us – indeed it is We Who send. - Ahmed Raza Khan (English)
44:6
رَحْمَةً مِّن رَّبِّكَ ۚ إِنَّهُۥ هُوَ ٱلسَّمِيعُ ٱلْعَلِيمُ
44:6
A mercy from your Lord; indeed He only is the All Hearing, the All Knowing. - Ahmed Raza Khan (English)
44:7
رَبِّ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَآ ۖ إِن كُنتُم مُّوقِنِينَ
44:7
The Lord of the heavens and the earth and all that is between them; if you people believe. - Ahmed Raza Khan (English)
44:8
لَآ إِلَـٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَ يُحْىِۦ وَيُمِيتُ ۖ رَبُّكُمْ وَرَبُّ ءَابَآئِكُمُ ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ
44:8
There is no worship except for Him – He gives life and causes death; your Lord and the Lord of your forefathers. - Ahmed Raza Khan (English)
44:9
بَلْ هُمْ فِى شَكٍّ يَلْعَبُونَ
44:9
Rather they are in doubt, playing. - Ahmed Raza Khan (English)
44:10
فَٱرْتَقِبْ يَوْمَ تَأْتِى ٱلسَّمَآءُ بِدُخَانٍ مُّبِينٍ
44:10
So you await the day when the sky will bring forth a visible smoke. – - Ahmed Raza Khan (English)
44:11
يَغْشَى ٱلنَّاسَ ۖ هَـٰذَا عَذَابٌ أَلِيمٌ
44:11
Which will envelop the people; this is a painful punishment. - Ahmed Raza Khan (English)
44:12
رَّبَّنَا ٱكْشِفْ عَنَّا ٱلْعَذَابَ إِنَّا مُؤْمِنُونَ
44:12
Thereupon they will say, “O our Lord! Remove the punishment from us – we now accept faith.” - Ahmed Raza Khan (English)
44:13
أَنَّىٰ لَهُمُ ٱلذِّكْرَىٰ وَقَدْ جَآءَهُمْ رَسُولٌ مُّبِينٌ
44:13
How is it possible for them to accept guidance, whereas a Noble Messenger who speaks clearly has already come to them? - Ahmed Raza Khan (English)
44:14
ثُمَّ تَوَلَّوْا۟ عَنْهُ وَقَالُوا۟ مُعَلَّمٌ مَّجْنُونٌ
44:14
Whereas they had then turned away from him and said, “He is a madman, tutored!”? - Ahmed Raza Khan (English)
44:15
إِنَّا كَاشِفُوا۟ ٱلْعَذَابِ قَلِيلًا ۚ إِنَّكُمْ عَآئِدُونَ
44:15
We now remove the punishment for some days – so you will again commit the same. - Ahmed Raza Khan (English)
44:16
يَوْمَ نَبْطِشُ ٱلْبَطْشَةَ ٱلْكُبْرَىٰٓ إِنَّا مُنتَقِمُونَ
44:16
The day when We will seize with the greatest seizure – We will indeed take revenge. - Ahmed Raza Khan (English)
44:17
۞ وَلَقَدْ فَتَنَّا قَبْلَهُمْ قَوْمَ فِرْعَوْنَ وَجَآءَهُمْ رَسُولٌ كَرِيمٌ
44:17
And before them We indeed tried the people of Firaun, and an Honourable Noble Messenger came to them. - Ahmed Raza Khan (English)
44:18
أَنْ أَدُّوٓا۟ إِلَىَّ عِبَادَ ٱللَّهِ ۖ إِنِّى لَكُمْ رَسُولٌ أَمِينٌ
44:18
Who said, “Give the bondmen of Allah into my custody; I am indeed a trustworthy Noble Messenger for you.” - Ahmed Raza Khan (English)
44:19
وَأَن لَّا تَعْلُوا۟ عَلَى ٱللَّهِ ۖ إِنِّىٓ ءَاتِيكُم بِسُلْطَـٰنٍ مُّبِينٍ
44:19
And saying, “And do not rebel against Allah; I have brought a clear proof to you.” - Ahmed Raza Khan (English)
44:20
وَإِنِّى عُذْتُ بِرَبِّى وَرَبِّكُمْ أَن تَرْجُمُونِ
44:20
“And I take the refuge of my Lord and yours, against your stoning me.” - Ahmed Raza Khan (English)
44:21
وَإِن لَّمْ تُؤْمِنُوا۟ لِى فَٱعْتَزِلُونِ
44:21
“And if you do not believe in me, then have no relation with me.” - Ahmed Raza Khan (English)
44:22
فَدَعَا رَبَّهُۥٓ أَنَّ هَـٰٓؤُلَآءِ قَوْمٌ مُّجْرِمُونَ
44:22
He therefore prayed to his Lord, “These are a guilty nation!” - Ahmed Raza Khan (English)
44:23
فَأَسْرِ بِعِبَادِى لَيْلًا إِنَّكُم مُّتَّبَعُونَ
44:23
We commanded him, “Journey with My bondmen in a part of the night – you will be pursued.” - Ahmed Raza Khan (English)
44:24
وَٱتْرُكِ ٱلْبَحْرَ رَهْوًا ۖ إِنَّهُمْ جُندٌ مُّغْرَقُونَ
44:24
“And leave the sea as it is, parted in several places; indeed that army will be drowned.” - Ahmed Raza Khan (English)
44:25
كَمْ تَرَكُوا۟ مِن جَنَّـٰتٍ وَعُيُونٍ
44:25
How many gardens and water-springs they left behind! - Ahmed Raza Khan (English)
44:26
وَزُرُوعٍ وَمَقَامٍ كَرِيمٍ
44:26
And fields and grand palaces! - Ahmed Raza Khan (English)
44:27
وَنَعْمَةٍ كَانُوا۟ فِيهَا فَـٰكِهِينَ
44:27
And favours amongst which they were rejoicing! - Ahmed Raza Khan (English)
44:28
كَذَٰلِكَ ۖ وَأَوْرَثْنَـٰهَا قَوْمًا ءَاخَرِينَ
44:28
That is what We did; and We made another nation their heirs. - Ahmed Raza Khan (English)
44:29
فَمَا بَكَتْ عَلَيْهِمُ ٱلسَّمَآءُ وَٱلْأَرْضُ وَمَا كَانُوا۟ مُنظَرِينَ
44:29
So the heavens and the earth did not weep for them, and they were not given respite. - Ahmed Raza Khan (English)
44:30
وَلَقَدْ نَجَّيْنَا بَنِىٓ إِسْرَٰٓءِيلَ مِنَ ٱلْعَذَابِ ٱلْمُهِينِ
44:30
And indeed We rescued the Descendants of Israel from a disgraceful torture. - Ahmed Raza Khan (English)
44:31
مِن فِرْعَوْنَ ۚ إِنَّهُۥ كَانَ عَالِيًا مِّنَ ٱلْمُسْرِفِينَ
44:31
From Firaun; he was indeed proud, among the transgressors. - Ahmed Raza Khan (English)
44:32
وَلَقَدِ ٱخْتَرْنَـٰهُمْ عَلَىٰ عِلْمٍ عَلَى ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ
44:32
And We knowingly chose them, among all others of their time. - Ahmed Raza Khan (English)
44:33
وَءَاتَيْنَـٰهُم مِّنَ ٱلْـَٔايَـٰتِ مَا فِيهِ بَلَـٰٓؤٌا۟ مُّبِينٌ
44:33
And We gave them signs in which lay clear favours. - Ahmed Raza Khan (English)
44:34
إِنَّ هَـٰٓؤُلَآءِ لَيَقُولُونَ
44:34
Indeed these disbelievers proclaim; – - Ahmed Raza Khan (English)
44:35
إِنْ هِىَ إِلَّا مَوْتَتُنَا ٱلْأُولَىٰ وَمَا نَحْنُ بِمُنشَرِينَ
44:35
“There is nothing except our dying just once, and we will not be raised.” - Ahmed Raza Khan (English)
44:36
فَأْتُوا۟ بِـَٔابَآئِنَآ إِن كُنتُمْ صَـٰدِقِينَ
44:36
“Therefore bring back our forefathers, if you are truthful!” - Ahmed Raza Khan (English)
44:37
أَهُمْ خَيْرٌ أَمْ قَوْمُ تُبَّعٍ وَٱلَّذِينَ مِن قَبْلِهِمْ ۚ أَهْلَكْنَـٰهُمْ ۖ إِنَّهُمْ كَانُوا۟ مُجْرِمِينَ
44:37
Are they better, or the people of Tubba? And those who were before them? We destroyed them; they were indeed criminals. - Ahmed Raza Khan (English)
44:38
وَمَا خَلَقْنَا ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضَ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَا لَـٰعِبِينَ
44:38
And We did not create the heavens and the earth, and all that is between them, just for play. - Ahmed Raza Khan (English)
44:39
مَا خَلَقْنَـٰهُمَآ إِلَّا بِٱلْحَقِّ وَلَـٰكِنَّ أَكْثَرَهُمْ لَا يَعْلَمُونَ
44:39
We did not create them except with the truth, but most of them do not know. - Ahmed Raza Khan (English)
44:40
إِنَّ يَوْمَ ٱلْفَصْلِ مِيقَـٰتُهُمْ أَجْمَعِينَ
44:40
Indeed the Day of Decision is the appointment for all of them. - Ahmed Raza Khan (English)
44:41
يَوْمَ لَا يُغْنِى مَوْلًى عَن مَّوْلًى شَيْـًٔا وَلَا هُمْ يُنصَرُونَ
44:41
The day on which, no friends will benefit each other at all, nor will they be helped. (Except those who are pious – see verse 43:67) - Ahmed Raza Khan (English)
44:42
إِلَّا مَن رَّحِمَ ٱللَّهُ ۚ إِنَّهُۥ هُوَ ٱلْعَزِيزُ ٱلرَّحِيمُ
44:42
Except those upon whom Allah has mercy; indeed He only is the Most Honourable, the Most Merciful. - Ahmed Raza Khan (English)
44:43
إِنَّ شَجَرَتَ ٱلزَّقُّومِ
44:43
Indeed the tree of Zaqqum, – - Ahmed Raza Khan (English)
44:44
طَعَامُ ٱلْأَثِيمِ
44:44
Is the food of the sinners. - Ahmed Raza Khan (English)
44:45
كَٱلْمُهْلِ يَغْلِى فِى ٱلْبُطُونِ
44:45
Like molten copper; it churns in their bellies. - Ahmed Raza Khan (English)
44:46
كَغَلْىِ ٱلْحَمِيمِ
44:46
Like the churning of boiling water. - Ahmed Raza Khan (English)
44:47
خُذُوهُ فَٱعْتِلُوهُ إِلَىٰ سَوَآءِ ٱلْجَحِيمِ
44:47
“Seize him, and forcibly drag him right to the blazing fire.” - Ahmed Raza Khan (English)
44:48
ثُمَّ صُبُّوا۟ فَوْقَ رَأْسِهِۦ مِنْ عَذَابِ ٱلْحَمِيمِ
44:48
“Then pour on his head the punishment of boiling water.” - Ahmed Raza Khan (English)
44:49
ذُقْ إِنَّكَ أَنتَ ٱلْعَزِيزُ ٱلْكَرِيمُ
44:49
Saying “Taste it! Indeed you only are the most honourable, the dignified!” - Ahmed Raza Khan (English)
44:50
إِنَّ هَـٰذَا مَا كُنتُم بِهِۦ تَمْتَرُونَ
44:50
“Indeed this is what you used to doubt about.” - Ahmed Raza Khan (English)
44:51
إِنَّ ٱلْمُتَّقِينَ فِى مَقَامٍ أَمِينٍ
44:51
Indeed the pious are in a place of peace. - Ahmed Raza Khan (English)
44:52
فِى جَنَّـٰتٍ وَعُيُونٍ
44:52
In Gardens and water-springs. - Ahmed Raza Khan (English)
44:53
يَلْبَسُونَ مِن سُندُسٍ وَإِسْتَبْرَقٍ مُّتَقَـٰبِلِينَ
44:53
They will be dressed in fine silk and embroidery, facing one another (on thrones). - Ahmed Raza Khan (English)
44:54
كَذَٰلِكَ وَزَوَّجْنَـٰهُم بِحُورٍ عِينٍ
44:54
So it is; and We have wedded them to maidens with gorgeous eyes. - Ahmed Raza Khan (English)
44:55
يَدْعُونَ فِيهَا بِكُلِّ فَـٰكِهَةٍ ءَامِنِينَ
44:55
In it they will ask for all kinds of fruit, with safety. - Ahmed Raza Khan (English)
44:56
لَا يَذُوقُونَ فِيهَا ٱلْمَوْتَ إِلَّا ٱلْمَوْتَةَ ٱلْأُولَىٰ ۖ وَوَقَىٰهُمْ عَذَابَ ٱلْجَحِيمِ
44:56
They will not taste death again in it, except their former death; and Allah has saved them from the punishment of fire. - Ahmed Raza Khan (English)
44:57
فَضْلًا مِّن رَّبِّكَ ۚ ذَٰلِكَ هُوَ ٱلْفَوْزُ ٱلْعَظِيمُ
44:57
By the munificence of your Lord; this is the great success. - Ahmed Raza Khan (English)
44:58
فَإِنَّمَا يَسَّرْنَـٰهُ بِلِسَانِكَ لَعَلَّهُمْ يَتَذَكَّرُونَ
44:58
And We have made this Qur’an easy in your language, for them to understand. - Ahmed Raza Khan (English)

فَٱرْتَقِبْ إِنَّهُم مُّرْتَقِبُونَ
44:59
Therefore wait (O dear Prophet Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him) – they too are waiting. - Ahmed Raza Khan (English)
