بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.
44:1
حمٓ
44:1
Ha-Mim. - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
44:2
وَٱلْكِتَـٰبِ ٱلْمُبِينِ
44:2
By the Book that makes things clear;- - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
44:3
إِنَّآ أَنزَلْنَـٰهُ فِى لَيْلَةٍ مُّبَـٰرَكَةٍ ۚ إِنَّا كُنَّا مُنذِرِينَ
44:3
We sent it down during a Blessed Night: for We (ever) wish to warn (against Evil). - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
44:4
فِيهَا يُفْرَقُ كُلُّ أَمْرٍ حَكِيمٍ
44:4
In the (Night) is made distinct every affair of wisdom, - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
44:5
أَمْرًا مِّنْ عِندِنَآ ۚ إِنَّا كُنَّا مُرْسِلِينَ
44:5
By command, from Our Presence. For We (ever) send (revelations), - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
44:6
رَحْمَةً مِّن رَّبِّكَ ۚ إِنَّهُۥ هُوَ ٱلسَّمِيعُ ٱلْعَلِيمُ
44:6
As Mercy from thy Lord: for He hears and knows (all things); - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
44:7
رَبِّ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَآ ۖ إِن كُنتُم مُّوقِنِينَ
44:7
The Lord of the heavens and the earth and all between them, if ye (but) have an assured faith. - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
44:8
لَآ إِلَـٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَ يُحْىِۦ وَيُمِيتُ ۖ رَبُّكُمْ وَرَبُّ ءَابَآئِكُمُ ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ
44:8
There is no god but He: It is He Who gives life and gives death,- The Lord and Cherisher to you and your earliest ancestors. - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
44:9
بَلْ هُمْ فِى شَكٍّ يَلْعَبُونَ
44:9
Yet they play about in doubt. - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
44:10
فَٱرْتَقِبْ يَوْمَ تَأْتِى ٱلسَّمَآءُ بِدُخَانٍ مُّبِينٍ
44:10
Then watch thou for the Day that the sky will bring forth a kind of smoke (or mist) plainly visible, - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
44:11
يَغْشَى ٱلنَّاسَ ۖ هَـٰذَا عَذَابٌ أَلِيمٌ
44:11
Enveloping the people: this will be a Penalty Grievous. - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
44:12
رَّبَّنَا ٱكْشِفْ عَنَّا ٱلْعَذَابَ إِنَّا مُؤْمِنُونَ
44:12
(They will say:) "Our Lord! remove the Penalty from us, for we do really believe!" - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
44:13
أَنَّىٰ لَهُمُ ٱلذِّكْرَىٰ وَقَدْ جَآءَهُمْ رَسُولٌ مُّبِينٌ
44:13
How shall the message be (effectual) for them, seeing that an Messenger explaining things clearly has (already) come to them,- - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
44:14
ثُمَّ تَوَلَّوْا۟ عَنْهُ وَقَالُوا۟ مُعَلَّمٌ مَّجْنُونٌ
44:14
Yet they turn away from him and say: "Tutored (by others), a man possessed!" - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
44:15
إِنَّا كَاشِفُوا۟ ٱلْعَذَابِ قَلِيلًا ۚ إِنَّكُمْ عَآئِدُونَ
44:15
We shall indeed remove the Penalty for a while, (but) truly ye will revert (to your ways). - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
44:16
يَوْمَ نَبْطِشُ ٱلْبَطْشَةَ ٱلْكُبْرَىٰٓ إِنَّا مُنتَقِمُونَ
44:16
One day We shall seize you with a mighty onslaught: We will indeed (then) exact Retribution! - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
44:17
۞ وَلَقَدْ فَتَنَّا قَبْلَهُمْ قَوْمَ فِرْعَوْنَ وَجَآءَهُمْ رَسُولٌ كَرِيمٌ
44:17
We did, before them, try the people of Pharaoh: there came to them a messenger most honourable, - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
44:18
أَنْ أَدُّوٓا۟ إِلَىَّ عِبَادَ ٱللَّهِ ۖ إِنِّى لَكُمْ رَسُولٌ أَمِينٌ
44:18
Saying: "Restore to me the Servants of Allah: I am to you an messenger worthy of all trust; - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
44:19
وَأَن لَّا تَعْلُوا۟ عَلَى ٱللَّهِ ۖ إِنِّىٓ ءَاتِيكُم بِسُلْطَـٰنٍ مُّبِينٍ
44:19
"And be not arrogant as against Allah: for I come to you with authority manifest. - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
44:20
وَإِنِّى عُذْتُ بِرَبِّى وَرَبِّكُمْ أَن تَرْجُمُونِ
44:20
"For me, I have sought safety with my Lord and your Lord, against your injuring me. - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
44:21
وَإِن لَّمْ تُؤْمِنُوا۟ لِى فَٱعْتَزِلُونِ
44:21
"If ye believe me not, at least keep yourselves away from me." - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
44:22
فَدَعَا رَبَّهُۥٓ أَنَّ هَـٰٓؤُلَآءِ قَوْمٌ مُّجْرِمُونَ
44:22
(But they were aggressive:) then he cried to his Lord: "These are indeed a people given to sin." - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
44:23
فَأَسْرِ بِعِبَادِى لَيْلًا إِنَّكُم مُّتَّبَعُونَ
44:23
(The reply came:) "March forth with My Servants by night: for ye are sure to be pursued. - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
44:24
وَٱتْرُكِ ٱلْبَحْرَ رَهْوًا ۖ إِنَّهُمْ جُندٌ مُّغْرَقُونَ
44:24
"And leave the sea as a furrow (divided): for they are a host (destined) to be drowned." - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
44:25
كَمْ تَرَكُوا۟ مِن جَنَّـٰتٍ وَعُيُونٍ
44:25
How many were the gardens and springs they left behind, - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
44:26
وَزُرُوعٍ وَمَقَامٍ كَرِيمٍ
44:26
And corn-fields and noble buildings, - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
44:27
وَنَعْمَةٍ كَانُوا۟ فِيهَا فَـٰكِهِينَ
44:27
And wealth (and conveniences of life), wherein they had taken such delight! - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
44:28
كَذَٰلِكَ ۖ وَأَوْرَثْنَـٰهَا قَوْمًا ءَاخَرِينَ
44:28
Thus (was their end)! And We made other people inherit (those things)! - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
44:29
فَمَا بَكَتْ عَلَيْهِمُ ٱلسَّمَآءُ وَٱلْأَرْضُ وَمَا كَانُوا۟ مُنظَرِينَ
44:29
And neither heaven nor earth shed a tear over them: nor were they given a respite (again). - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
44:30
وَلَقَدْ نَجَّيْنَا بَنِىٓ إِسْرَٰٓءِيلَ مِنَ ٱلْعَذَابِ ٱلْمُهِينِ
44:30
We did deliver aforetime the Children of Israel from humiliating Punishment, - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
44:31
مِن فِرْعَوْنَ ۚ إِنَّهُۥ كَانَ عَالِيًا مِّنَ ٱلْمُسْرِفِينَ
44:31
Inflicted by Pharaoh, for he was arrogant (even) among inordinate transgressors. - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
44:32
وَلَقَدِ ٱخْتَرْنَـٰهُمْ عَلَىٰ عِلْمٍ عَلَى ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ
44:32
And We chose them aforetime above the nations, knowingly, - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
44:33
وَءَاتَيْنَـٰهُم مِّنَ ٱلْـَٔايَـٰتِ مَا فِيهِ بَلَـٰٓؤٌا۟ مُّبِينٌ
44:33
And granted them Signs in which there was a manifest trial - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
44:34
إِنَّ هَـٰٓؤُلَآءِ لَيَقُولُونَ
44:34
As to these (Quraish), they say forsooth: - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
44:35
إِنْ هِىَ إِلَّا مَوْتَتُنَا ٱلْأُولَىٰ وَمَا نَحْنُ بِمُنشَرِينَ
44:35
"There is nothing beyond our first death, and we shall not be raised again. - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
44:36
فَأْتُوا۟ بِـَٔابَآئِنَآ إِن كُنتُمْ صَـٰدِقِينَ
44:36
"Then bring (back) our forefathers, if what ye say is true!" - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
44:37
أَهُمْ خَيْرٌ أَمْ قَوْمُ تُبَّعٍ وَٱلَّذِينَ مِن قَبْلِهِمْ ۚ أَهْلَكْنَـٰهُمْ ۖ إِنَّهُمْ كَانُوا۟ مُجْرِمِينَ
44:37
What! Are they better than the people of Tubba and those who were before them? We destroyed them because they were guilty of sin. - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
44:38
وَمَا خَلَقْنَا ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضَ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَا لَـٰعِبِينَ
44:38
We created not the heavens, the earth, and all between them, merely in (idle) sport: - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
44:39
مَا خَلَقْنَـٰهُمَآ إِلَّا بِٱلْحَقِّ وَلَـٰكِنَّ أَكْثَرَهُمْ لَا يَعْلَمُونَ
44:39
We created them not except for just ends: but most of them do not understand. - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
44:40
إِنَّ يَوْمَ ٱلْفَصْلِ مِيقَـٰتُهُمْ أَجْمَعِينَ
44:40
Verily the Day of sorting out is the time appointed for all of them,- - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
44:41
يَوْمَ لَا يُغْنِى مَوْلًى عَن مَّوْلًى شَيْـًٔا وَلَا هُمْ يُنصَرُونَ
44:41
The Day when no protector can avail his client in aught, and no help can they receive, - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
44:42
إِلَّا مَن رَّحِمَ ٱللَّهُ ۚ إِنَّهُۥ هُوَ ٱلْعَزِيزُ ٱلرَّحِيمُ
44:42
Except such as receive Allah's Mercy: for He is Exalted in Might, Most Merciful. - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
44:43
إِنَّ شَجَرَتَ ٱلزَّقُّومِ
44:43
Verily the tree of Zaqqum - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
44:44
طَعَامُ ٱلْأَثِيمِ
44:44
Will be the food of the Sinful,- - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
44:45
كَٱلْمُهْلِ يَغْلِى فِى ٱلْبُطُونِ
44:45
Like molten brass; it will boil in their insides. - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
44:46
كَغَلْىِ ٱلْحَمِيمِ
44:46
Like the boiling of scalding water. - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
44:47
خُذُوهُ فَٱعْتِلُوهُ إِلَىٰ سَوَآءِ ٱلْجَحِيمِ
44:47
(A voice will cry: "Seize ye him and drag him into the midst of the Blazing Fire! - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
44:48
ثُمَّ صُبُّوا۟ فَوْقَ رَأْسِهِۦ مِنْ عَذَابِ ٱلْحَمِيمِ
44:48
"Then pour over his head the Penalty of Boiling Water, - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
44:49
ذُقْ إِنَّكَ أَنتَ ٱلْعَزِيزُ ٱلْكَرِيمُ
44:49
"Taste thou (this)! Truly wast thou mighty, full of honour! - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
44:50
إِنَّ هَـٰذَا مَا كُنتُم بِهِۦ تَمْتَرُونَ
44:50
"Truly this is what ye used to doubt!" - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
44:51
إِنَّ ٱلْمُتَّقِينَ فِى مَقَامٍ أَمِينٍ
44:51
As to the Righteous (they will be) in a position of Security, - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
44:52
فِى جَنَّـٰتٍ وَعُيُونٍ
44:52
Among Gardens and Springs; - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
44:53
يَلْبَسُونَ مِن سُندُسٍ وَإِسْتَبْرَقٍ مُّتَقَـٰبِلِينَ
44:53
Dressed in fine silk and in rich brocade, they will face each other; - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
44:54
كَذَٰلِكَ وَزَوَّجْنَـٰهُم بِحُورٍ عِينٍ
44:54
So; and We shall join them to fair women with beautiful, big, and lustrous eyes. - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
44:55
يَدْعُونَ فِيهَا بِكُلِّ فَـٰكِهَةٍ ءَامِنِينَ
44:55
There can they call for every kind of fruit in peace and security; - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
44:56
لَا يَذُوقُونَ فِيهَا ٱلْمَوْتَ إِلَّا ٱلْمَوْتَةَ ٱلْأُولَىٰ ۖ وَوَقَىٰهُمْ عَذَابَ ٱلْجَحِيمِ
44:56
Nor will they there taste Death, except the first death; and He will preserve them from the Penalty of the Blazing Fire,- - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
44:57
فَضْلًا مِّن رَّبِّكَ ۚ ذَٰلِكَ هُوَ ٱلْفَوْزُ ٱلْعَظِيمُ
44:57
As a Bounty from thy Lord! that will be the supreme achievement! - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
44:58
فَإِنَّمَا يَسَّرْنَـٰهُ بِلِسَانِكَ لَعَلَّهُمْ يَتَذَكَّرُونَ
44:58
Verily, We have made this (Qur'an) easy, in thy tongue, in order that they may give heed. - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
44:59
فَٱرْتَقِبْ إِنَّهُم مُّرْتَقِبُونَ
44:59
So wait thou and watch; for they (too) are waiting. - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
