Transliteration
Wahiduddin Khan
بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.
44:1
حمٓ
44:1

44:2
وَٱلْكِتَـٰبِ ٱلْمُبِينِ
44:2
By the Scripture that maketh plain - Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall (English)
44:3
إِنَّآ أَنزَلْنَـٰهُ فِى لَيْلَةٍ مُّبَـٰرَكَةٍ ۚ إِنَّا كُنَّا مُنذِرِينَ
44:3
Lo! We revealed it on a blessed night - Lo! We are ever warning - - Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall (English)
44:4
فِيهَا يُفْرَقُ كُلُّ أَمْرٍ حَكِيمٍ
44:4
Whereon every wise command is made clear - Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall (English)
44:5
أَمْرًا مِّنْ عِندِنَآ ۚ إِنَّا كُنَّا مُرْسِلِينَ
44:5
As a command from Our presence - Lo! We are ever sending - - Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall (English)
44:6
رَحْمَةً مِّن رَّبِّكَ ۚ إِنَّهُۥ هُوَ ٱلسَّمِيعُ ٱلْعَلِيمُ
44:6
A mercy from thy Lord. Lo! He, even He is the Hearer, the Knower, - Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall (English)
44:7
رَبِّ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَآ ۖ إِن كُنتُم مُّوقِنِينَ
44:7
Lord of the heavens and the earth and all that is between them, if ye would be sure. - Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall (English)
44:8
لَآ إِلَـٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَ يُحْىِۦ وَيُمِيتُ ۖ رَبُّكُمْ وَرَبُّ ءَابَآئِكُمُ ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ
44:8
There is no Allah save Him. He quickeneth and giveth death; your Lord and Lord of your forefathers. - Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall (English)
44:9
بَلْ هُمْ فِى شَكٍّ يَلْعَبُونَ
44:9
Nay, but they play in doubt. - Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall (English)
44:10
فَٱرْتَقِبْ يَوْمَ تَأْتِى ٱلسَّمَآءُ بِدُخَانٍ مُّبِينٍ
44:10
But watch thou (O Muhammad) for the day when the sky will produce visible smoke - Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall (English)
44:11
يَغْشَى ٱلنَّاسَ ۖ هَـٰذَا عَذَابٌ أَلِيمٌ
44:11
That will envelop the people. This will be a painful torment. - Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall (English)
44:12
رَّبَّنَا ٱكْشِفْ عَنَّا ٱلْعَذَابَ إِنَّا مُؤْمِنُونَ
44:12
(Then they will say): Our Lord relieve us of the torment. Lo! we are believers. - Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall (English)
44:13
أَنَّىٰ لَهُمُ ٱلذِّكْرَىٰ وَقَدْ جَآءَهُمْ رَسُولٌ مُّبِينٌ
44:13
How can there be remembrance for them, when a messenger making plain (the Truth) had already come unto them, - Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall (English)
44:14
ثُمَّ تَوَلَّوْا۟ عَنْهُ وَقَالُوا۟ مُعَلَّمٌ مَّجْنُونٌ
44:14
And they had turned away from him and said: One taught (by others), a madman? - Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall (English)
44:15
إِنَّا كَاشِفُوا۟ ٱلْعَذَابِ قَلِيلًا ۚ إِنَّكُمْ عَآئِدُونَ
44:15
Lo! We withdraw the torment a little. Lo! ye return (to disbelief). - Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall (English)
44:16
يَوْمَ نَبْطِشُ ٱلْبَطْشَةَ ٱلْكُبْرَىٰٓ إِنَّا مُنتَقِمُونَ
44:16
On the day when We shall seize them with the greater seizure, (then) in truth We shall punish. - Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall (English)
44:17
۞ وَلَقَدْ فَتَنَّا قَبْلَهُمْ قَوْمَ فِرْعَوْنَ وَجَآءَهُمْ رَسُولٌ كَرِيمٌ
44:17
And verily We tried before them Pharaoh's folk, when there came unto them a noble messenger, - Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall (English)
44:18
أَنْ أَدُّوٓا۟ إِلَىَّ عِبَادَ ٱللَّهِ ۖ إِنِّى لَكُمْ رَسُولٌ أَمِينٌ
44:18
Saying: Give up to me the slaves of Allah. Lo! I am a faithful messenger unto you. - Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall (English)
44:19
وَأَن لَّا تَعْلُوا۟ عَلَى ٱللَّهِ ۖ إِنِّىٓ ءَاتِيكُم بِسُلْطَـٰنٍ مُّبِينٍ
44:19
And saying: Be not proud against Allah. Lo! I bring you a clear warrant. - Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall (English)
44:20
وَإِنِّى عُذْتُ بِرَبِّى وَرَبِّكُمْ أَن تَرْجُمُونِ
44:20
And lo! I have sought refuge in my Lord and your Lord lest ye stone me to death. - Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall (English)
44:21
وَإِن لَّمْ تُؤْمِنُوا۟ لِى فَٱعْتَزِلُونِ
44:21
And if ye put no faith in me, then let me go. - Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall (English)
44:22
فَدَعَا رَبَّهُۥٓ أَنَّ هَـٰٓؤُلَآءِ قَوْمٌ مُّجْرِمُونَ
44:22
And he cried unto his Lord, (saying): These are guilty folk. - Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall (English)
44:23
فَأَسْرِ بِعِبَادِى لَيْلًا إِنَّكُم مُّتَّبَعُونَ
44:23
Then (his Lord commanded): Take away My slaves by night. Lo! ye will be followed, - Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall (English)
44:24
وَٱتْرُكِ ٱلْبَحْرَ رَهْوًا ۖ إِنَّهُمْ جُندٌ مُّغْرَقُونَ
44:24
And leave the sea behind at rest, for lo! they are a drowned host. - Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall (English)
44:25
كَمْ تَرَكُوا۟ مِن جَنَّـٰتٍ وَعُيُونٍ
44:25
How many were the gardens and the watersprings that they left behind, - Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall (English)
44:26
وَزُرُوعٍ وَمَقَامٍ كَرِيمٍ
44:26
And the cornlands and the goodly sites - Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall (English)
44:27
وَنَعْمَةٍ كَانُوا۟ فِيهَا فَـٰكِهِينَ
44:27
And pleasant things wherein they took delight! - Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall (English)
44:28
كَذَٰلِكَ ۖ وَأَوْرَثْنَـٰهَا قَوْمًا ءَاخَرِينَ
44:28
Even so (it was), and We made it an inheritance for other folk; - Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall (English)
44:29
فَمَا بَكَتْ عَلَيْهِمُ ٱلسَّمَآءُ وَٱلْأَرْضُ وَمَا كَانُوا۟ مُنظَرِينَ
44:29
And the heaven and the earth wept not for them, nor were they reprieved. - Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall (English)
44:30
وَلَقَدْ نَجَّيْنَا بَنِىٓ إِسْرَٰٓءِيلَ مِنَ ٱلْعَذَابِ ٱلْمُهِينِ
44:30
And We delivered the Children of Israel from the shameful doom; - Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall (English)
44:31
مِن فِرْعَوْنَ ۚ إِنَّهُۥ كَانَ عَالِيًا مِّنَ ٱلْمُسْرِفِينَ
44:31
(We delivered them) from Pharaoh. Lo! he was a tyrant of the wanton ones. - Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall (English)
44:32
وَلَقَدِ ٱخْتَرْنَـٰهُمْ عَلَىٰ عِلْمٍ عَلَى ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ
44:32
And We chose them, purposely, above (all) creatures. - Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall (English)
44:33
وَءَاتَيْنَـٰهُم مِّنَ ٱلْـَٔايَـٰتِ مَا فِيهِ بَلَـٰٓؤٌا۟ مُّبِينٌ
44:33

44:34
إِنَّ هَـٰٓؤُلَآءِ لَيَقُولُونَ
44:34
Lo! these, forsooth, are saying: - Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall (English)
44:35
إِنْ هِىَ إِلَّا مَوْتَتُنَا ٱلْأُولَىٰ وَمَا نَحْنُ بِمُنشَرِينَ
44:35
There is naught but our first death, and we shall not be raised again. - Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall (English)
44:36
فَأْتُوا۟ بِـَٔابَآئِنَآ إِن كُنتُمْ صَـٰدِقِينَ
44:36
Bring back our fathers, if ye speak the truth! - Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall (English)
44:37
أَهُمْ خَيْرٌ أَمْ قَوْمُ تُبَّعٍ وَٱلَّذِينَ مِن قَبْلِهِمْ ۚ أَهْلَكْنَـٰهُمْ ۖ إِنَّهُمْ كَانُوا۟ مُجْرِمِينَ
44:37
Are they better, or the folk of Tubb'a and those before them? We destroyed them, for surely they were guilty. - Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall (English)
44:38
وَمَا خَلَقْنَا ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضَ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَا لَـٰعِبِينَ
44:38
And We created not the heavens and the earth, and all that is between them, in play. - Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall (English)
44:39
مَا خَلَقْنَـٰهُمَآ إِلَّا بِٱلْحَقِّ وَلَـٰكِنَّ أَكْثَرَهُمْ لَا يَعْلَمُونَ
44:39
We created them not save with truth; but most of them know not. - Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall (English)
44:40
إِنَّ يَوْمَ ٱلْفَصْلِ مِيقَـٰتُهُمْ أَجْمَعِينَ
44:40
Assuredly the Day of Decision is the term for all of them, - Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall (English)
44:41
يَوْمَ لَا يُغْنِى مَوْلًى عَن مَّوْلًى شَيْـًٔا وَلَا هُمْ يُنصَرُونَ
44:41
A day when friend can in naught avail friend, nor can they be helped, - Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall (English)
44:42
إِلَّا مَن رَّحِمَ ٱللَّهُ ۚ إِنَّهُۥ هُوَ ٱلْعَزِيزُ ٱلرَّحِيمُ
44:42
Save him on whom Allah hath mercy. Lo! He is the Mighty, the Merciful. - Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall (English)

إِنَّ شَجَرَتَ ٱلزَّقُّومِ
44:43
Lo! the tree of Zaqqum, - Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall (English)
44:44
طَعَامُ ٱلْأَثِيمِ
44:44
The food of the sinner! - Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall (English)
44:45
كَٱلْمُهْلِ يَغْلِى فِى ٱلْبُطُونِ
44:45
Like molten brass, it seetheth in their bellies - Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall (English)
44:46
كَغَلْىِ ٱلْحَمِيمِ
44:46
As the seething of boiling water. - Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall (English)
44:47
خُذُوهُ فَٱعْتِلُوهُ إِلَىٰ سَوَآءِ ٱلْجَحِيمِ
44:47
(And it will be said): Take him and drag him to the midst of hell, - Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall (English)
44:48
ثُمَّ صُبُّوا۟ فَوْقَ رَأْسِهِۦ مِنْ عَذَابِ ٱلْحَمِيمِ
44:48
Then pour upon his head the torment of boiling water. - Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall (English)
44:49
ذُقْ إِنَّكَ أَنتَ ٱلْعَزِيزُ ٱلْكَرِيمُ
44:49
(Saying): Taste! Lo! thou wast forsooth the mighty, the noble! - Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall (English)
44:50
إِنَّ هَـٰذَا مَا كُنتُم بِهِۦ تَمْتَرُونَ
44:50
Lo! this is that whereof ye used to doubt. - Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall (English)
44:51
إِنَّ ٱلْمُتَّقِينَ فِى مَقَامٍ أَمِينٍ
44:51
Lo! those who kept their duty will be in a place secured. - Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall (English)
44:52
فِى جَنَّـٰتٍ وَعُيُونٍ
44:52
Amid gardens and watersprings, - Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall (English)
44:53
يَلْبَسُونَ مِن سُندُسٍ وَإِسْتَبْرَقٍ مُّتَقَـٰبِلِينَ
44:53
Attired in silk and silk embroidery, facing one another. - Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall (English)
44:54
كَذَٰلِكَ وَزَوَّجْنَـٰهُم بِحُورٍ عِينٍ
44:54
Even so (it will be). And We shall wed them unto fair ones with wide, lovely eyes. - Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall (English)
44:55
يَدْعُونَ فِيهَا بِكُلِّ فَـٰكِهَةٍ ءَامِنِينَ
44:55
They call therein for every fruit in safety. - Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall (English)
44:56
لَا يَذُوقُونَ فِيهَا ٱلْمَوْتَ إِلَّا ٱلْمَوْتَةَ ٱلْأُولَىٰ ۖ وَوَقَىٰهُمْ عَذَابَ ٱلْجَحِيمِ
44:56
They taste not death therein, save the first death. And He hath saved them from the doom of hell, - Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall (English)
44:57
فَضْلًا مِّن رَّبِّكَ ۚ ذَٰلِكَ هُوَ ٱلْفَوْزُ ٱلْعَظِيمُ
44:57
A bounty from thy Lord. That is the supreme triumph. - Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall (English)
44:58
فَإِنَّمَا يَسَّرْنَـٰهُ بِلِسَانِكَ لَعَلَّهُمْ يَتَذَكَّرُونَ
44:58
And We have made (this Scripture) easy in thy language only that they may heed. - Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall (English)

فَٱرْتَقِبْ إِنَّهُم مُّرْتَقِبُونَ
44:59
Wait then (O Muhammad). Lo! they (too) are waiting. - Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall (English)
