Transliteration
Wahiduddin Khan
بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.
37:1
وَٱلصَّـٰٓفَّـٰتِ صَفًّا
37:1
By those [angels] who range themselves in close ranks - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
37:2
فَٱلزَّٰجِرَٰتِ زَجْرًا
37:2
and those who drive away [the wicked] with reproof - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
37:3
فَٱلتَّـٰلِيَـٰتِ ذِكْرًا
37:3
and by the reciters of the Reminder: - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
37:4
إِنَّ إِلَـٰهَكُمْ لَوَٰحِدٌ
37:4
your God is One, - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
37:5
رَّبُّ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَا وَرَبُّ ٱلْمَشَـٰرِقِ
37:5
Lord of the heavens and the earth and everything between them; Lord of the Easts. - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
37:6
إِنَّا زَيَّنَّا ٱلسَّمَآءَ ٱلدُّنْيَا بِزِينَةٍ ٱلْكَوَاكِبِ
37:6
We have adorned the lowest heaven with the beauty of the planets; - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
37:7
وَحِفْظًا مِّن كُلِّ شَيْطَـٰنٍ مَّارِدٍ
37:7
and guarded it against all rebellious devils: - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
37:8
لَّا يَسَّمَّعُونَ إِلَى ٱلْمَلَإِ ٱلْأَعْلَىٰ وَيُقْذَفُونَ مِن كُلِّ جَانِبٍ
37:8
they cannot overhear the Higher Assembly for they are pelted from every side, - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
37:9
دُحُورًا ۖ وَلَهُمْ عَذَابٌ وَاصِبٌ
37:9
driven away, and will suffer eternal punishment. - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
37:10
إِلَّا مَنْ خَطِفَ ٱلْخَطْفَةَ فَأَتْبَعَهُۥ شِهَابٌ ثَاقِبٌ
37:10
But if anyone does succeed in snatching a glimpse [of such knowledge], he shall be pursued by a piercing flame. - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
37:11
فَٱسْتَفْتِهِمْ أَهُمْ أَشَدُّ خَلْقًا أَم مَّنْ خَلَقْنَآ ۚ إِنَّا خَلَقْنَـٰهُم مِّن طِينٍ لَّازِبٍۭ
37:11
So, ask those who deny the truth if it was harder to create them than all the other things We have created? We created them from sticky clay. - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
37:12
بَلْ عَجِبْتَ وَيَسْخَرُونَ
37:12
No wonder you are surprised as they laugh with scorn. - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
37:13
وَإِذَا ذُكِّرُوا۟ لَا يَذْكُرُونَ
37:13
When they are reminded, they do not pay heed, - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
37:14
وَإِذَا رَأَوْا۟ ءَايَةً يَسْتَسْخِرُونَ
37:14
and whenever they see some sign, they ridicule it, - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
37:15
وَقَالُوٓا۟ إِنْ هَـٰذَآ إِلَّا سِحْرٌ مُّبِينٌ
37:15
saying, "This is plain sorcery!" - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
37:16
أَءِذَا مِتْنَا وَكُنَّا تُرَابًا وَعِظَـٰمًا أَءِنَّا لَمَبْعُوثُونَ
37:16
"What! When we have died and become dust and bones, will we be brought back to life again, - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
37:17
أَوَءَابَآؤُنَا ٱلْأَوَّلُونَ
37:17
along with our forefathers?" - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
37:18
قُلْ نَعَمْ وَأَنتُمْ دَٰخِرُونَ
37:18
Say, "Yes indeed, and you will be brought low." - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
37:19
فَإِنَّمَا هِىَ زَجْرَةٌ وَٰحِدَةٌ فَإِذَا هُمْ يَنظُرُونَ
37:19
There will be but a single blast and then their eyes will open. - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
37:20
وَقَالُوا۟ يَـٰوَيْلَنَا هَـٰذَا يَوْمُ ٱلدِّينِ
37:20
They will say, "Woe to us! This is the Day of Reckoning." - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
37:21
هَـٰذَا يَوْمُ ٱلْفَصْلِ ٱلَّذِى كُنتُم بِهِۦ تُكَذِّبُونَ
37:21
[It will be said], "This is the Day of Judgement which you have been denying." - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
37:22
۞ ٱحْشُرُوا۟ ٱلَّذِينَ ظَلَمُوا۟ وَأَزْوَٰجَهُمْ وَمَا كَانُوا۟ يَعْبُدُونَ
37:22
But We shall say, "Assemble those who did wrong together with their associates and what they worshipped - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
37:23
مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ فَٱهْدُوهُمْ إِلَىٰ صِرَٰطِ ٱلْجَحِيمِ
37:23
besides God, and lead them to the path of the Fire; - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
37:24
وَقِفُوهُمْ ۖ إِنَّهُم مَّسْـُٔولُونَ
37:24
and stop them there for questioning: - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
37:25
مَا لَكُمْ لَا تَنَاصَرُونَ
37:25
'But what is the matter with you that you cannot help one another?,'" - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
37:26
بَلْ هُمُ ٱلْيَوْمَ مُسْتَسْلِمُونَ
37:26
indeed, on that Day they will surrender themselves. - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
37:27
وَأَقْبَلَ بَعْضُهُمْ عَلَىٰ بَعْضٍ يَتَسَآءَلُونَ
37:27
They will turn upon one another, and question one another. - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
37:28
قَالُوٓا۟ إِنَّكُمْ كُنتُمْ تَأْتُونَنَا عَنِ ٱلْيَمِينِ
37:28
They will say, "You used to come at us from the right." - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
37:29
قَالُوا۟ بَل لَّمْ تَكُونُوا۟ مُؤْمِنِينَ
37:29
They will say, "No! It was you who would not believe -- - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
37:30
وَمَا كَانَ لَنَا عَلَيْكُم مِّن سُلْطَـٰنٍۭ ۖ بَلْ كُنتُمْ قَوْمًا طَـٰغِينَ
37:30
we had no power over you; but you yourselves were a rebellious people. - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
37:31
فَحَقَّ عَلَيْنَا قَوْلُ رَبِّنَآ ۖ إِنَّا لَذَآئِقُونَ
37:31
But now our Lord's word has come true against us: truly, we are bound to taste [the punishment]. - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
37:32
فَأَغْوَيْنَـٰكُمْ إِنَّا كُنَّا غَـٰوِينَ
37:32
We led you astray as we were ourselves astray." - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
37:33
فَإِنَّهُمْ يَوْمَئِذٍ فِى ٱلْعَذَابِ مُشْتَرِكُونَ
37:33
On that Day they will all share the punishment: - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
37:34
إِنَّا كَذَٰلِكَ نَفْعَلُ بِٱلْمُجْرِمِينَ
37:34
that is how We deal with evil-doers. - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
37:35
إِنَّهُمْ كَانُوٓا۟ إِذَا قِيلَ لَهُمْ لَآ إِلَـٰهَ إِلَّا ٱللَّهُ يَسْتَكْبِرُونَ
37:35
When they were told, "There is no deity but God," they turned away with disdain, - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
37:36
وَيَقُولُونَ أَئِنَّا لَتَارِكُوٓا۟ ءَالِهَتِنَا لِشَاعِرٍ مَّجْنُونٍۭ
37:36
and replied, "Shall we then give up our deities at the bidding of a mad poet?" - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
37:37
بَلْ جَآءَ بِٱلْحَقِّ وَصَدَّقَ ٱلْمُرْسَلِينَ
37:37
"Surely, he has brought the truth, confirming those who were sent before; - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
37:38
إِنَّكُمْ لَذَآئِقُوا۟ ٱلْعَذَابِ ٱلْأَلِيمِ
37:38
you shall surely taste the painful punishment, - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
37:39
وَمَا تُجْزَوْنَ إِلَّا مَا كُنتُمْ تَعْمَلُونَ
37:39
and be rewarded only according to your deeds." - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
37:40
إِلَّا عِبَادَ ٱللَّهِ ٱلْمُخْلَصِينَ
37:40
But the chosen servants of God; - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
37:41
أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ لَهُمْ رِزْقٌ مَّعْلُومٌ
37:41
shall have a known provision -- - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
37:42
فَوَٰكِهُ ۖ وَهُم مُّكْرَمُونَ
37:42
fruits of various kinds; and they shall be honoured, - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
37:43
فِى جَنَّـٰتِ ٱلنَّعِيمِ
37:43
in the Gardens of Bliss, - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
37:44
عَلَىٰ سُرُرٍ مُّتَقَـٰبِلِينَ
37:44
seated on couches, facing one another. - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
37:45
يُطَافُ عَلَيْهِم بِكَأْسٍ مِّن مَّعِينٍۭ
37:45
A drink will be passed round among them from a flowing spring: - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
37:46
بَيْضَآءَ لَذَّةٍ لِّلشَّـٰرِبِينَ
37:46
white and delicious to those who drink it, - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
37:47
لَا فِيهَا غَوْلٌ وَلَا هُمْ عَنْهَا يُنزَفُونَ
37:47
causing no headiness or intoxication. - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
37:48
وَعِندَهُمْ قَـٰصِرَٰتُ ٱلطَّرْفِ عِينٌ
37:48
With them will be spouses, modest of gaze and beautiful of eye, - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
37:49
كَأَنَّهُنَّ بَيْضٌ مَّكْنُونٌ
37:49
like closely guarded pearls. - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
37:50
فَأَقْبَلَ بَعْضُهُمْ عَلَىٰ بَعْضٍ يَتَسَآءَلُونَ
37:50
They will turn to one another with questions: - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
37:51
قَالَ قَآئِلٌ مِّنْهُمْ إِنِّى كَانَ لِى قَرِينٌ
37:51
one of them will say, "I had a friend, - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
37:52
يَقُولُ أَءِنَّكَ لَمِنَ ٱلْمُصَدِّقِينَ
37:52
who used to ask, 'Do you really believe that - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
37:53
أَءِذَا مِتْنَا وَكُنَّا تُرَابًا وَعِظَـٰمًا أَءِنَّا لَمَدِينُونَ
37:53
after we die and become dust and bones, we shall be brought to judgement?'" - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
37:54
قَالَ هَلْ أَنتُم مُّطَّلِعُونَ
37:54
Then he will say, "Shall we look for him?" - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
37:55
فَٱطَّلَعَ فَرَءَاهُ فِى سَوَآءِ ٱلْجَحِيمِ
37:55
Then he will look and see him in the midst of the Fire. - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
37:56
قَالَ تَٱللَّهِ إِن كِدتَّ لَتُرْدِينِ
37:56
He will say, "By God! You almost brought me to ruin! - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
37:57
وَلَوْلَا نِعْمَةُ رَبِّى لَكُنتُ مِنَ ٱلْمُحْضَرِينَ
37:57
If it had not been for the blessing of my Lord, I would also have been taken to Hell." - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
37:58
أَفَمَا نَحْنُ بِمَيِّتِينَ
37:58
Then he will say [to his blessed companions], "Are we not going to die, - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
37:59
إِلَّا مَوْتَتَنَا ٱلْأُولَىٰ وَمَا نَحْنُ بِمُعَذَّبِينَ
37:59
except for our first death? Are we not going to be punished? - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
37:60
إِنَّ هَـٰذَا لَهُوَ ٱلْفَوْزُ ٱلْعَظِيمُ
37:60
Truly, this is a great victory!" - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
37:61
لِمِثْلِ هَـٰذَا فَلْيَعْمَلِ ٱلْعَـٰمِلُونَ
37:61
It is for the like of this that all should strive. - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
37:62
أَذَٰلِكَ خَيْرٌ نُّزُلًا أَمْ شَجَرَةُ ٱلزَّقُّومِ
37:62
Is that better by way of hospitality or the Zaqqum tree, - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
37:63
إِنَّا جَعَلْنَـٰهَا فِتْنَةً لِّلظَّـٰلِمِينَ
37:63
which We have made as a test for the wrongdoers. - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
37:64
إِنَّهَا شَجَرَةٌ تَخْرُجُ فِىٓ أَصْلِ ٱلْجَحِيمِ
37:64
For it is a tree that springs out of the bottom of Hellfire: - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
37:65
طَلْعُهَا كَأَنَّهُۥ رُءُوسُ ٱلشَّيَـٰطِينِ
37:65
and its fruits are like devils' heads. - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
37:66
فَإِنَّهُمْ لَـَٔاكِلُونَ مِنْهَا فَمَالِـُٔونَ مِنْهَا ٱلْبُطُونَ
37:66
They will eat from it and fill their bellies with it; - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
37:67
ثُمَّ إِنَّ لَهُمْ عَلَيْهَا لَشَوْبًا مِّنْ حَمِيمٍ
37:67
then in addition to it they shall have a draught of boiling water to drink; - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
37:68
ثُمَّ إِنَّ مَرْجِعَهُمْ لَإِلَى ٱلْجَحِيمِ
37:68
then surely they shall return to Hell. - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
37:69
إِنَّهُمْ أَلْفَوْا۟ ءَابَآءَهُمْ ضَآلِّينَ
37:69
They found their fathers had gone astray; - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
37:70
فَهُمْ عَلَىٰٓ ءَاثَـٰرِهِمْ يُهْرَعُونَ
37:70
so they are rushing to follow in their footsteps. - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
37:71
وَلَقَدْ ضَلَّ قَبْلَهُمْ أَكْثَرُ ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ
37:71
And assuredly many of the ancients went astray before them, - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
37:72
وَلَقَدْ أَرْسَلْنَا فِيهِم مُّنذِرِينَ
37:72
though We had sent warners among them. - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
37:73
فَٱنظُرْ كَيْفَ كَانَ عَـٰقِبَةُ ٱلْمُنذَرِينَ
37:73
See how those who were warned met their end! - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
37:74
إِلَّا عِبَادَ ٱللَّهِ ٱلْمُخْلَصِينَ
37:74
Not so the chosen servants of God. - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
37:75
وَلَقَدْ نَادَىٰنَا نُوحٌ فَلَنِعْمَ ٱلْمُجِيبُونَ
37:75
Noah cried to Us, and how excellent was Our response! - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
37:76
وَنَجَّيْنَـٰهُ وَأَهْلَهُۥ مِنَ ٱلْكَرْبِ ٱلْعَظِيمِ
37:76
We saved him and his people from great distress, - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
37:77
وَجَعَلْنَا ذُرِّيَّتَهُۥ هُمُ ٱلْبَاقِينَ
37:77
and We made his offspring the only survivors. - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
37:78
وَتَرَكْنَا عَلَيْهِ فِى ٱلْـَٔاخِرِينَ
37:78
We left mention of him among later generations. - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
37:79
سَلَـٰمٌ عَلَىٰ نُوحٍ فِى ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ
37:79
Peace be upon Noah among all the peoples! - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
37:80
إِنَّا كَذَٰلِكَ نَجْزِى ٱلْمُحْسِنِينَ
37:80
That is how We recompense the righteous: - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
37:81
إِنَّهُۥ مِنْ عِبَادِنَا ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ
37:81
he was truly one of Our faithful servants. - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
37:82
ثُمَّ أَغْرَقْنَا ٱلْـَٔاخَرِينَ
37:82
We drowned the rest. - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
37:83
۞ وَإِنَّ مِن شِيعَتِهِۦ لَإِبْرَٰهِيمَ
37:83
Abraham was of the same faith: - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
37:84
إِذْ جَآءَ رَبَّهُۥ بِقَلْبٍ سَلِيمٍ
37:84
he came to his Lord with a sound heart. - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
37:85
إِذْ قَالَ لِأَبِيهِ وَقَوْمِهِۦ مَاذَا تَعْبُدُونَ
37:85
"Behold!" he said to his father and to his people, "What are these that you worship? - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
37:86
أَئِفْكًا ءَالِهَةً دُونَ ٱللَّهِ تُرِيدُونَ
37:86
Would you serve false deities instead of God? - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
37:87
فَمَا ظَنُّكُم بِرَبِّ ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ
37:87
What do you think of the Lord of the Worlds?" - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
37:88
فَنَظَرَ نَظْرَةً فِى ٱلنُّجُومِ
37:88
He looked up at the stars. - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
37:89
فَقَالَ إِنِّى سَقِيمٌ
37:89
And said, "I am sick," - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
37:90
فَتَوَلَّوْا۟ عَنْهُ مُدْبِرِينَ
37:90
so they turned their backs on him and went off. - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
37:91
فَرَاغَ إِلَىٰٓ ءَالِهَتِهِمْ فَقَالَ أَلَا تَأْكُلُونَ
37:91
He turned to their gods and said, "Do you not eat? - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
37:92
مَا لَكُمْ لَا تَنطِقُونَ
37:92
What is the matter with you that you do not speak?" - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
37:93
فَرَاغَ عَلَيْهِمْ ضَرْبًۢا بِٱلْيَمِينِ
37:93
then he turned on them, striking them down with his right hand. - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
37:94
فَأَقْبَلُوٓا۟ إِلَيْهِ يَزِفُّونَ
37:94
His people came rushing towards him, - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
37:95
قَالَ أَتَعْبُدُونَ مَا تَنْحِتُونَ
37:95
but he said, "How can you worship things you carve with your own hands, - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
37:96
وَٱللَّهُ خَلَقَكُمْ وَمَا تَعْمَلُونَ
37:96
when it is God who has created you and all your handiwork?" - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
37:97
قَالُوا۟ ٱبْنُوا۟ لَهُۥ بُنْيَـٰنًا فَأَلْقُوهُ فِى ٱلْجَحِيمِ
37:97
They said, "Build a pyre for him and throw him into the blaze!" - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
37:98
فَأَرَادُوا۟ بِهِۦ كَيْدًا فَجَعَلْنَـٰهُمُ ٱلْأَسْفَلِينَ
37:98
They wanted to harm him, but We humiliated them all. - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
37:99
وَقَالَ إِنِّى ذَاهِبٌ إِلَىٰ رَبِّى سَيَهْدِينِ
37:99
He said, "I will go to my Lord: He is sure to guide me. - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
37:100
رَبِّ هَبْ لِى مِنَ ٱلصَّـٰلِحِينَ
37:100
Lord, grant me a righteous son." - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
37:101
فَبَشَّرْنَـٰهُ بِغُلَـٰمٍ حَلِيمٍ
37:101
We gave him the good news that he would have a patient, forbearing son. - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
37:102
فَلَمَّا بَلَغَ مَعَهُ ٱلسَّعْىَ قَالَ يَـٰبُنَىَّ إِنِّىٓ أَرَىٰ فِى ٱلْمَنَامِ أَنِّىٓ أَذْبَحُكَ فَٱنظُرْ مَاذَا تَرَىٰ ۚ قَالَ يَـٰٓأَبَتِ ٱفْعَلْ مَا تُؤْمَرُ ۖ سَتَجِدُنِىٓ إِن شَآءَ ٱللَّهُ مِنَ ٱلصَّـٰبِرِينَ
37:102
And when he reached the age when he could work with him, he said, "O my son, I have seen in a dream that I am sacrificing you. So tell me what you think of it!" He replied, "O my father, do as you are commanded; and God willing, you will find me steadfast." - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
37:103
فَلَمَّآ أَسْلَمَا وَتَلَّهُۥ لِلْجَبِينِ
37:103
When they had both submitted to God, and he had laid his son down on his face, - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
37:104
وَنَـٰدَيْنَـٰهُ أَن يَـٰٓإِبْرَٰهِيمُ
37:104
We called out to him, "Abraham, - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
37:105
قَدْ صَدَّقْتَ ٱلرُّءْيَآ ۚ إِنَّا كَذَٰلِكَ نَجْزِى ٱلْمُحْسِنِينَ
37:105
you have fulfilled the dream." It is thus indeed that We reward those who do good, - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
37:106
إِنَّ هَـٰذَا لَهُوَ ٱلْبَلَـٰٓؤُا۟ ٱلْمُبِينُ
37:106
that surely was a manifest trial, - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
37:107
وَفَدَيْنَـٰهُ بِذِبْحٍ عَظِيمٍ
37:107
We ransomed him with a great sacrifice, - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
37:108
وَتَرَكْنَا عَلَيْهِ فِى ٱلْـَٔاخِرِينَ
37:108
and left him thus to be succeeded by a group [of followers] among later generations: - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
37:109
سَلَـٰمٌ عَلَىٰٓ إِبْرَٰهِيمَ
37:109
"Peace and salutation to Abraham!" - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
37:110
كَذَٰلِكَ نَجْزِى ٱلْمُحْسِنِينَ
37:110
That is how We recompense the righteous: - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
37:111
إِنَّهُۥ مِنْ عِبَادِنَا ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ
37:111
truly, he was one of Our faithful servants. - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
37:112
وَبَشَّرْنَـٰهُ بِإِسْحَـٰقَ نَبِيًّا مِّنَ ٱلصَّـٰلِحِينَ
37:112
We gave Abraham the good news of Isaac, a prophet and a righteous man, - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
37:113
وَبَـٰرَكْنَا عَلَيْهِ وَعَلَىٰٓ إِسْحَـٰقَ ۚ وَمِن ذُرِّيَّتِهِمَا مُحْسِنٌ وَظَالِمٌ لِّنَفْسِهِۦ مُبِينٌ
37:113
and blessed him and Isaac too: some of their offspring were good, but some clearly sinned against their souls. - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
37:114
وَلَقَدْ مَنَنَّا عَلَىٰ مُوسَىٰ وَهَـٰرُونَ
37:114
We also bestowed Our favour on Moses and Aaron: - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
37:115
وَنَجَّيْنَـٰهُمَا وَقَوْمَهُمَا مِنَ ٱلْكَرْبِ ٱلْعَظِيمِ
37:115
We saved them and their people from great distress; - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
37:116
وَنَصَرْنَـٰهُمْ فَكَانُوا۟ هُمُ ٱلْغَـٰلِبِينَ
37:116
and We helped them, so that they were victorious; - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
37:117
وَءَاتَيْنَـٰهُمَا ٱلْكِتَـٰبَ ٱلْمُسْتَبِينَ
37:117
and We gave them the Book which helps to make things clear; - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
37:118
وَهَدَيْنَـٰهُمَا ٱلصِّرَٰطَ ٱلْمُسْتَقِيمَ
37:118
and guided them to the straight path; - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
37:119
وَتَرَكْنَا عَلَيْهِمَا فِى ٱلْـَٔاخِرِينَ
37:119
and We left them thus to be succeeded by a group [of followers] among later generations: - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
37:120
سَلَـٰمٌ عَلَىٰ مُوسَىٰ وَهَـٰرُونَ
37:120
"Peace be upon Moses and Aaron!" - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
37:121
إِنَّا كَذَٰلِكَ نَجْزِى ٱلْمُحْسِنِينَ
37:121
This is how We reward those who do good: - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
37:122
إِنَّهُمَا مِنْ عِبَادِنَا ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ
37:122
truly they were among Our faithful servants. - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
37:123
وَإِنَّ إِلْيَاسَ لَمِنَ ٱلْمُرْسَلِينَ
37:123
Elijah too was one of the messengers. - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
37:124
إِذْ قَالَ لِقَوْمِهِۦٓ أَلَا تَتَّقُونَ
37:124
He said to his people, "Have you no fear [of God?] - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
37:125
أَتَدْعُونَ بَعْلًا وَتَذَرُونَ أَحْسَنَ ٱلْخَـٰلِقِينَ
37:125
Do you call on Baal and abandon the Best of Creators, - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
37:126
ٱللَّهَ رَبَّكُمْ وَرَبَّ ءَابَآئِكُمُ ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ
37:126
God your Lord and Lord of your forefathers?" - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
37:127
فَكَذَّبُوهُ فَإِنَّهُمْ لَمُحْضَرُونَ
37:127
but they rejected him, and thus will certainly be called to account; - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
37:128
إِلَّا عِبَادَ ٱللَّهِ ٱلْمُخْلَصِينَ
37:128
except the chosen servants of God. - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
37:129
وَتَرَكْنَا عَلَيْهِ فِى ٱلْـَٔاخِرِينَ
37:129
We left him thus to be succeeded by a group [of followers] among the following generations -- - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
37:130
سَلَـٰمٌ عَلَىٰٓ إِلْ يَاسِينَ
37:130
"Peace be on Elijah and his people!" - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
37:131
إِنَّا كَذَٰلِكَ نَجْزِى ٱلْمُحْسِنِينَ
37:131
It is thus indeed that We reward those who do good: - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
37:132
إِنَّهُۥ مِنْ عِبَادِنَا ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ
37:132
surely he was one of Our believing servants. - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
37:133
وَإِنَّ لُوطًا لَّمِنَ ٱلْمُرْسَلِينَ
37:133
Lot was also one of the messengers. - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
37:134
إِذْ نَجَّيْنَـٰهُ وَأَهْلَهُۥٓ أَجْمَعِينَ
37:134
We saved him and all his people, - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
37:135
إِلَّا عَجُوزًا فِى ٱلْغَـٰبِرِينَ
37:135
except for an old woman who stayed behind, - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
37:136
ثُمَّ دَمَّرْنَا ٱلْـَٔاخَرِينَ
37:136
and We destroyed the rest. - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
37:137
وَإِنَّكُمْ لَتَمُرُّونَ عَلَيْهِم مُّصْبِحِينَ
37:137
You pass by their ruins morning - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
37:138
وَبِٱلَّيْلِ ۗ أَفَلَا تَعْقِلُونَ
37:138
and night: will you not take heed? - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
37:139
وَإِنَّ يُونُسَ لَمِنَ ٱلْمُرْسَلِينَ
37:139
Jonah too was one of the messengers. - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
37:140
إِذْ أَبَقَ إِلَى ٱلْفُلْكِ ٱلْمَشْحُونِ
37:140
He fled to the overloaded ship. - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
37:141
فَسَاهَمَ فَكَانَ مِنَ ٱلْمُدْحَضِينَ
37:141
And then they cast lots and he was the one who lost, - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
37:142
فَٱلْتَقَمَهُ ٱلْحُوتُ وَهُوَ مُلِيمٌ
37:142
and the fish swallowed him while he was blaming himself. - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
37:143
فَلَوْلَآ أَنَّهُۥ كَانَ مِنَ ٱلْمُسَبِّحِينَ
37:143
Had he not been one of those who acknowledge the glory of God, - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
37:144
لَلَبِثَ فِى بَطْنِهِۦٓ إِلَىٰ يَوْمِ يُبْعَثُونَ
37:144
he would certainly have remained inside the fish till the Day of Resurrection. - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
37:145
۞ فَنَبَذْنَـٰهُ بِٱلْعَرَآءِ وَهُوَ سَقِيمٌ
37:145
But We caused him to be cast forth on to the beach, sick as he was, - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
37:146
وَأَنۢبَتْنَا عَلَيْهِ شَجَرَةً مِّن يَقْطِينٍ
37:146
and We caused a gourd tree to grow over him. - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
37:147
وَأَرْسَلْنَـٰهُ إِلَىٰ مِا۟ئَةِ أَلْفٍ أَوْ يَزِيدُونَ
37:147
We sent him as a messenger to a hundred thousand people or more, - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
37:148
فَـَٔامَنُوا۟ فَمَتَّعْنَـٰهُمْ إِلَىٰ حِينٍ
37:148
and they believed in him: so We let them live in ease for a while. - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
37:149
فَٱسْتَفْتِهِمْ أَلِرَبِّكَ ٱلْبَنَاتُ وَلَهُمُ ٱلْبَنُونَ
37:149
Now ask them whether your Lord has daughters, whereas they have sons. - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
37:150
أَمْ خَلَقْنَا ٱلْمَلَـٰٓئِكَةَ إِنَـٰثًا وَهُمْ شَـٰهِدُونَ
37:150
Did We create the angels females, to which they were witnesses? - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
37:151
أَلَآ إِنَّهُم مِّنْ إِفْكِهِمْ لَيَقُولُونَ
37:151
No indeed! It is one of their fabrications when they say: - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
37:152
وَلَدَ ٱللَّهُ وَإِنَّهُمْ لَكَـٰذِبُونَ
37:152
"God has begotten children." They are truly liars. - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
37:153
أَصْطَفَى ٱلْبَنَاتِ عَلَى ٱلْبَنِينَ
37:153
Has He chosen daughters over sons? - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
37:154
مَا لَكُمْ كَيْفَ تَحْكُمُونَ
37:154
What is the matter with you? How do you form your judgement? - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
37:155
أَفَلَا تَذَكَّرُونَ
37:155
Will you not then reflect? - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
37:156
أَمْ لَكُمْ سُلْطَـٰنٌ مُّبِينٌ
37:156
Or have you clear evidence? - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
37:157
فَأْتُوا۟ بِكِتَـٰبِكُمْ إِن كُنتُمْ صَـٰدِقِينَ
37:157
Then produce your scriptures, if you are telling the truth. - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
37:158
وَجَعَلُوا۟ بَيْنَهُۥ وَبَيْنَ ٱلْجِنَّةِ نَسَبًا ۚ وَلَقَدْ عَلِمَتِ ٱلْجِنَّةُ إِنَّهُمْ لَمُحْضَرُونَ
37:158
They claim that He has kinship with the jinn, yet the jinn themselves know that they will be produced before Him [for judgement]. - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
37:159
سُبْحَـٰنَ ٱللَّهِ عَمَّا يَصِفُونَ
37:159
God is far above what they attribute to Him, - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
37:160
إِلَّا عِبَادَ ٱللَّهِ ٱلْمُخْلَصِينَ
37:160
but not so the true servants of God, - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
37:161
فَإِنَّكُمْ وَمَا تَعْبُدُونَ
37:161
neither you nor what you worship - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
37:162
مَآ أَنتُمْ عَلَيْهِ بِفَـٰتِنِينَ
37:162
can lure away from God any - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
37:163
إِلَّا مَنْ هُوَ صَالِ ٱلْجَحِيمِ
37:163
except those who will burn in Hell. - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
37:164
وَمَا مِنَّآ إِلَّا لَهُۥ مَقَامٌ مَّعْلُومٌ
37:164
[The angels say], "Every single one of us has his place assigned: - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
37:165
وَإِنَّا لَنَحْنُ ٱلصَّآفُّونَ
37:165
we are those who stand ranged in ranks. - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
37:166
وَإِنَّا لَنَحْنُ ٱلْمُسَبِّحُونَ
37:166
We glorify God." - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
37:167
وَإِن كَانُوا۟ لَيَقُولُونَ
37:167
They say, - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
37:168
لَوْ أَنَّ عِندَنَا ذِكْرًا مِّنَ ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ
37:168
"If we had had with us a Book like that of the people of old, - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
37:169
لَكُنَّا عِبَادَ ٱللَّهِ ٱلْمُخْلَصِينَ
37:169
we would surely have been God's chosen servants," - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
37:170
فَكَفَرُوا۟ بِهِۦ ۖ فَسَوْفَ يَعْلَمُونَ
37:170
but they have rejected it, [the Quran] and they shall soon learn! - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
37:171
وَلَقَدْ سَبَقَتْ كَلِمَتُنَا لِعِبَادِنَا ٱلْمُرْسَلِينَ
37:171
And surely Our word has gone forth respecting Our servants, the messengers: - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
37:172
إِنَّهُمْ لَهُمُ ٱلْمَنصُورُونَ
37:172
that it is certainly they who will be helped; - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
37:173
وَإِنَّ جُندَنَا لَهُمُ ٱلْغَـٰلِبُونَ
37:173
and that it is Our host that would certainly triumph. - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
37:174
فَتَوَلَّ عَنْهُمْ حَتَّىٰ حِينٍ
37:174
So turn away from them for a while. - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
37:175
وَأَبْصِرْهُمْ فَسَوْفَ يُبْصِرُونَ
37:175
Watch them: they will soon see. - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
37:176
أَفَبِعَذَابِنَا يَسْتَعْجِلُونَ
37:176
Do they really wish to hasten Our punishment? - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
37:177
فَإِذَا نَزَلَ بِسَاحَتِهِمْ فَسَآءَ صَبَاحُ ٱلْمُنذَرِينَ
37:177
When it descends on their courtyards, how terrible that morning will be for those who were warned! - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
37:178
وَتَوَلَّ عَنْهُمْ حَتَّىٰ حِينٍ
37:178
So turn away from them for a while. - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
37:179
وَأَبْصِرْ فَسَوْفَ يُبْصِرُونَ
37:179
And watch, for they will soon see. - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
37:180
سُبْحَـٰنَ رَبِّكَ رَبِّ ٱلْعِزَّةِ عَمَّا يَصِفُونَ
37:180
Glory be to your Lord: the Lord of Glory is far above what they attribute to Him. - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
37:181
وَسَلَـٰمٌ عَلَى ٱلْمُرْسَلِينَ
37:181
Peace be upon the Messengers - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
37:182
وَٱلْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ رَبِّ ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ
37:182
and praise be to God, the Lord of all the Worlds. - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
