Transliteration
Wahiduddin Khan
بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.
78:1
عَمَّ يَتَسَآءَلُونَ
78:1
What do they quarrel about? - Muhammad Sarwar (English)
78:2
عَنِ ٱلنَّبَإِ ٱلْعَظِيمِ
78:2
They quarrel about the great news - Muhammad Sarwar (English)
78:3
ٱلَّذِى هُمْ فِيهِ مُخْتَلِفُونَ
78:3
concerning which they have disputes. - Muhammad Sarwar (English)
78:4
كَلَّا سَيَعْلَمُونَ
78:4
(What they think is certainly despicable!). They will soon come to know (the reality). - Muhammad Sarwar (English)
78:5
ثُمَّ كَلَّا سَيَعْلَمُونَ
78:5
Yes, indeed, before long they will learn all about it. - Muhammad Sarwar (English)
78:6
أَلَمْ نَجْعَلِ ٱلْأَرْضَ مِهَـٰدًا
78:6
Have We not made the earth as a place to rest - Muhammad Sarwar (English)
78:7
وَٱلْجِبَالَ أَوْتَادًا
78:7
and the mountains as pegs (to anchor the earth)? - Muhammad Sarwar (English)
78:8
وَخَلَقْنَـٰكُمْ أَزْوَٰجًا
78:8
Have We not created you in pairs, - Muhammad Sarwar (English)
78:9
وَجَعَلْنَا نَوْمَكُمْ سُبَاتًا
78:9
made sleep for you to rest, - Muhammad Sarwar (English)
78:10
وَجَعَلْنَا ٱلَّيْلَ لِبَاسًا
78:10
made the night as a covering, - Muhammad Sarwar (English)
78:11
وَجَعَلْنَا ٱلنَّهَارَ مَعَاشًا
78:11
and the day as time for you to make a living? - Muhammad Sarwar (English)
78:12
وَبَنَيْنَا فَوْقَكُمْ سَبْعًا شِدَادًا
78:12
Have We not made seven strong heavens above you, - Muhammad Sarwar (English)
78:13
وَجَعَلْنَا سِرَاجًا وَهَّاجًا
78:13
(the sun) as a shining torch - Muhammad Sarwar (English)
78:14
وَأَنزَلْنَا مِنَ ٱلْمُعْصِرَٰتِ مَآءً ثَجَّاجًا
78:14
and sent down heavy rains from the clouds - Muhammad Sarwar (English)
78:15
لِّنُخْرِجَ بِهِۦ حَبًّا وَنَبَاتًا
78:15
to make the seeds, plants, - Muhammad Sarwar (English)
78:16
وَجَنَّـٰتٍ أَلْفَافًا
78:16
and thick gardens grow? - Muhammad Sarwar (English)
78:17
إِنَّ يَوْمَ ٱلْفَصْلِ كَانَ مِيقَـٰتًا
78:17
The Day of Judgment will certainly be the final appointment. - Muhammad Sarwar (English)
78:18
يَوْمَ يُنفَخُ فِى ٱلصُّورِ فَتَأْتُونَ أَفْوَاجًا
78:18
On that day the trumpet will be sounded and you will come (to Us) in huge groups. - Muhammad Sarwar (English)
78:19
وَفُتِحَتِ ٱلسَّمَآءُ فَكَانَتْ أَبْوَٰبًا
78:19
The heavens will have openings like doors. - Muhammad Sarwar (English)
78:20
وَسُيِّرَتِ ٱلْجِبَالُ فَكَانَتْ سَرَابًا
78:20
The mountains will be driven away and become like mirages. - Muhammad Sarwar (English)
78:21
إِنَّ جَهَنَّمَ كَانَتْ مِرْصَادًا
78:21
Hell will lie in wait (for its prey). - Muhammad Sarwar (English)
78:22
لِّلطَّـٰغِينَ مَـَٔابًا
78:22
It will be a place of return - Muhammad Sarwar (English)
78:23
لَّـٰبِثِينَ فِيهَآ أَحْقَابًا
78:23
for the rebellious ones and they will live therein for ages. - Muhammad Sarwar (English)
78:24
لَّا يَذُوقُونَ فِيهَا بَرْدًا وَلَا شَرَابًا
78:24
They will not feel cold nor taste any drink - Muhammad Sarwar (English)
78:25
إِلَّا حَمِيمًا وَغَسَّاقًا
78:25
except boiling water and pus, - Muhammad Sarwar (English)
78:26
جَزَآءً وِفَاقًا
78:26
as a fitting recompense for their deeds. - Muhammad Sarwar (English)
78:27
إِنَّهُمْ كَانُوا۟ لَا يَرْجُونَ حِسَابًا
78:27
They did not expect such a Judgment - Muhammad Sarwar (English)
78:28
وَكَذَّبُوا۟ بِـَٔايَـٰتِنَا كِذَّابًا
78:28
and persistently rejected Our revelations. - Muhammad Sarwar (English)
78:29
وَكُلَّ شَىْءٍ أَحْصَيْنَـٰهُ كِتَـٰبًا
78:29
However, We have recorded everything in a book. - Muhammad Sarwar (English)
78:30
فَذُوقُوا۟ فَلَن نَّزِيدَكُمْ إِلَّا عَذَابًا
78:30
(They will be told), "Suffer, We shall only increase the torment for you". - Muhammad Sarwar (English)
78:31
إِنَّ لِلْمُتَّقِينَ مَفَازًا
78:31
The pious ones will be triumphant. - Muhammad Sarwar (English)
78:32
حَدَآئِقَ وَأَعْنَـٰبًا
78:32
They will have gardens and vineyards, - Muhammad Sarwar (English)
78:33
وَكَوَاعِبَ أَتْرَابًا
78:33
maidens with pears-shaped breasts who are of equal age (to their spouses) - Muhammad Sarwar (English)
78:34
وَكَأْسًا دِهَاقًا
78:34
and cups full of wine. - Muhammad Sarwar (English)
78:35
لَّا يَسْمَعُونَ فِيهَا لَغْوًا وَلَا كِذَّٰبًا
78:35
They will not hear therein any unnecessary words or lies. - Muhammad Sarwar (English)
78:36
جَزَآءً مِّن رَّبِّكَ عَطَآءً حِسَابًا
78:36
This will be their reward from your Lord, a favor from Him and a recompense for their deeds. - Muhammad Sarwar (English)
78:37
رَّبِّ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَا ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِ ۖ لَا يَمْلِكُونَ مِنْهُ خِطَابًا
78:37
He is the Lord of the heavens and the earth and all that is between them. He is the Beneficent God and no one will be able to address Him. - Muhammad Sarwar (English)
78:38
يَوْمَ يَقُومُ ٱلرُّوحُ وَٱلْمَلَـٰٓئِكَةُ صَفًّا ۖ لَّا يَتَكَلَّمُونَ إِلَّا مَنْ أَذِنَ لَهُ ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنُ وَقَالَ صَوَابًا
78:38
On that day, the Spirit and the angels who stand in lines will not speak except those whom the Beneficent God has permitted, and he will speak the right words. - Muhammad Sarwar (English)
78:39
ذَٰلِكَ ٱلْيَوْمُ ٱلْحَقُّ ۖ فَمَن شَآءَ ٱتَّخَذَ إِلَىٰ رَبِّهِۦ مَـَٔابًا
78:39
That will be the Day of the Truth. So let those who want seek refuge from their Lord. - Muhammad Sarwar (English)
78:40
إِنَّآ أَنذَرْنَـٰكُمْ عَذَابًا قَرِيبًا يَوْمَ يَنظُرُ ٱلْمَرْءُ مَا قَدَّمَتْ يَدَاهُ وَيَقُولُ ٱلْكَافِرُ يَـٰلَيْتَنِى كُنتُ تُرَٰبًۢا
78:40
We have warned you of the approaching torment. On that day, a person will see what his hands have committed. A disbeliever will say, "Would that I had been dust". - Muhammad Sarwar (English)
