Transliteration
Wahiduddin Khan
بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.
78:1
عَمَّ يَتَسَآءَلُونَ
78:1
What are they asking one another about? - Talal Itani (English)
78:2
عَنِ ٱلنَّبَإِ ٱلْعَظِيمِ
78:2
About the Great Event. - Talal Itani (English)
78:3
ٱلَّذِى هُمْ فِيهِ مُخْتَلِفُونَ
78:3
About which they disagree. - Talal Itani (English)
78:4
كَلَّا سَيَعْلَمُونَ
78:4
Surely, they will find out. - Talal Itani (English)
78:5
ثُمَّ كَلَّا سَيَعْلَمُونَ
78:5
Most certainly, they will find out. - Talal Itani (English)
78:6
أَلَمْ نَجْعَلِ ٱلْأَرْضَ مِهَـٰدًا
78:6
Did We not make the earth a cradle? - Talal Itani (English)
78:7
وَٱلْجِبَالَ أَوْتَادًا
78:7
And the mountains pegs? - Talal Itani (English)
78:8
وَخَلَقْنَـٰكُمْ أَزْوَٰجًا
78:8
And created you in pairs? - Talal Itani (English)
78:9
وَجَعَلْنَا نَوْمَكُمْ سُبَاتًا
78:9
And made your sleep for rest? - Talal Itani (English)
78:10
وَجَعَلْنَا ٱلَّيْلَ لِبَاسًا
78:10
And made the night a cover? - Talal Itani (English)
78:11
وَجَعَلْنَا ٱلنَّهَارَ مَعَاشًا
78:11
And made the day for livelihood? - Talal Itani (English)
78:12
وَبَنَيْنَا فَوْقَكُمْ سَبْعًا شِدَادًا
78:12
And built above you seven strong ones? - Talal Itani (English)
78:13
وَجَعَلْنَا سِرَاجًا وَهَّاجًا
78:13
And placed a blazing lamp? - Talal Itani (English)
78:14
وَأَنزَلْنَا مِنَ ٱلْمُعْصِرَٰتِ مَآءً ثَجَّاجًا
78:14
And brought down from the clouds pouring water? - Talal Itani (English)
78:15
لِّنُخْرِجَ بِهِۦ حَبًّا وَنَبَاتًا
78:15
To produce with it grains and vegetation? - Talal Itani (English)
78:16
وَجَنَّـٰتٍ أَلْفَافًا
78:16
And luxuriant gardens? - Talal Itani (English)
78:17
إِنَّ يَوْمَ ٱلْفَصْلِ كَانَ مِيقَـٰتًا
78:17
The Day of Sorting has been appointed. - Talal Itani (English)
78:18
يَوْمَ يُنفَخُ فِى ٱلصُّورِ فَتَأْتُونَ أَفْوَاجًا
78:18
The Day when the Trumpet is blown, and you will come in droves. - Talal Itani (English)
78:19
وَفُتِحَتِ ٱلسَّمَآءُ فَكَانَتْ أَبْوَٰبًا
78:19
And the sky is opened up, and becomes gateways. - Talal Itani (English)
78:20
وَسُيِّرَتِ ٱلْجِبَالُ فَكَانَتْ سَرَابًا
78:20
And the mountains are set in motion, and become a mirage. - Talal Itani (English)
78:21
إِنَّ جَهَنَّمَ كَانَتْ مِرْصَادًا
78:21
Hell is lying in ambush. - Talal Itani (English)
78:22
لِّلطَّـٰغِينَ مَـَٔابًا
78:22
For the oppressors, a destination. - Talal Itani (English)
78:23
لَّـٰبِثِينَ فِيهَآ أَحْقَابًا
78:23
Where they will remain for eons. - Talal Itani (English)
78:24
لَّا يَذُوقُونَ فِيهَا بَرْدًا وَلَا شَرَابًا
78:24
They will taste therein neither coolness, nor drink. - Talal Itani (English)
78:25
إِلَّا حَمِيمًا وَغَسَّاقًا
78:25
Except boiling water, and freezing hail. - Talal Itani (English)
78:26
جَزَآءً وِفَاقًا
78:26
A fitting requital. - Talal Itani (English)
78:27
إِنَّهُمْ كَانُوا۟ لَا يَرْجُونَ حِسَابًا
78:27
For they were not anticipating any reckoning. - Talal Itani (English)
78:28
وَكَذَّبُوا۟ بِـَٔايَـٰتِنَا كِذَّابًا
78:28
And they denied Our signs utterly. - Talal Itani (English)
78:29
وَكُلَّ شَىْءٍ أَحْصَيْنَـٰهُ كِتَـٰبًا
78:29
But We have enumerated everything in writing. - Talal Itani (English)
78:30
فَذُوقُوا۟ فَلَن نَّزِيدَكُمْ إِلَّا عَذَابًا
78:30
So taste! We will increase you only in suffering. - Talal Itani (English)
78:31
إِنَّ لِلْمُتَّقِينَ مَفَازًا
78:31
But for the righteous there is triumph. - Talal Itani (English)
78:32
حَدَآئِقَ وَأَعْنَـٰبًا
78:32
Gardens and vineyards. - Talal Itani (English)
78:33
وَكَوَاعِبَ أَتْرَابًا
78:33
And splendid spouses, well matched. - Talal Itani (English)
78:34
وَكَأْسًا دِهَاقًا
78:34
And delicious drinks. - Talal Itani (English)
78:35
لَّا يَسْمَعُونَ فِيهَا لَغْوًا وَلَا كِذَّٰبًا
78:35
They will hear therein neither gossip, nor lies. - Talal Itani (English)
78:36
جَزَآءً مِّن رَّبِّكَ عَطَآءً حِسَابًا
78:36
A reward from your Lord, a fitting gift. - Talal Itani (English)
78:37
رَّبِّ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَا ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِ ۖ لَا يَمْلِكُونَ مِنْهُ خِطَابًا
78:37
Lord of the heavens and the earth, and everything between them—The Most Merciful—none can argue with Him. - Talal Itani (English)
78:38
يَوْمَ يَقُومُ ٱلرُّوحُ وَٱلْمَلَـٰٓئِكَةُ صَفًّا ۖ لَّا يَتَكَلَّمُونَ إِلَّا مَنْ أَذِنَ لَهُ ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنُ وَقَالَ صَوَابًا
78:38
On the Day when the Spirit and the angels stand in row. They will not speak, unless it be one permitted by the Most Merciful, and he will say what is right. - Talal Itani (English)
78:39
ذَٰلِكَ ٱلْيَوْمُ ٱلْحَقُّ ۖ فَمَن شَآءَ ٱتَّخَذَ إِلَىٰ رَبِّهِۦ مَـَٔابًا
78:39
That is the Day of Reality. So whoever wills, let him take a way back to his Lord. - Talal Itani (English)
78:40
إِنَّآ أَنذَرْنَـٰكُمْ عَذَابًا قَرِيبًا يَوْمَ يَنظُرُ ٱلْمَرْءُ مَا قَدَّمَتْ يَدَاهُ وَيَقُولُ ٱلْكَافِرُ يَـٰلَيْتَنِى كُنتُ تُرَٰبًۢا
78:40
We have warned you of a near punishment—the Day when a person will observe what his hands have produced, and the faithless will say, “O, I wish I were dust.” - Talal Itani (English)
