بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.
78:1
عَمَّ يَتَسَآءَلُونَ
78:1
Concerning what are they disputing? - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
78:2
عَنِ ٱلنَّبَإِ ٱلْعَظِيمِ
78:2
Concerning the Great News, - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
78:3
ٱلَّذِى هُمْ فِيهِ مُخْتَلِفُونَ
78:3
About which they cannot agree. - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
78:4
كَلَّا سَيَعْلَمُونَ
78:4
Verily, they shall soon (come to) know! - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
78:5
ثُمَّ كَلَّا سَيَعْلَمُونَ
78:5
Verily, verily they shall soon (come to) know! - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
78:6
أَلَمْ نَجْعَلِ ٱلْأَرْضَ مِهَـٰدًا
78:6
Have We not made the earth as a wide expanse, - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
78:7
وَٱلْجِبَالَ أَوْتَادًا
78:7
And the mountains as pegs? - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
78:8
وَخَلَقْنَـٰكُمْ أَزْوَٰجًا
78:8
And (have We not) created you in pairs, - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
78:9
وَجَعَلْنَا نَوْمَكُمْ سُبَاتًا
78:9
And made your sleep for rest, - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
78:10
وَجَعَلْنَا ٱلَّيْلَ لِبَاسًا
78:10
And made the night as a covering, - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
78:11
وَجَعَلْنَا ٱلنَّهَارَ مَعَاشًا
78:11
And made the day as a means of subsistence? - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
78:12
وَبَنَيْنَا فَوْقَكُمْ سَبْعًا شِدَادًا
78:12
And (have We not) built over you the seven firmaments, - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
78:13
وَجَعَلْنَا سِرَاجًا وَهَّاجًا
78:13
And placed (therein) a Light of Splendour? - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
78:14
وَأَنزَلْنَا مِنَ ٱلْمُعْصِرَٰتِ مَآءً ثَجَّاجًا
78:14
And do We not send down from the clouds water in abundance, - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
78:15
لِّنُخْرِجَ بِهِۦ حَبًّا وَنَبَاتًا
78:15
That We may produce therewith corn and vegetables, - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
78:16
وَجَنَّـٰتٍ أَلْفَافًا
78:16
And gardens of luxurious growth? - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
78:17
إِنَّ يَوْمَ ٱلْفَصْلِ كَانَ مِيقَـٰتًا
78:17
Verily the Day of Sorting out is a thing appointed, - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
78:18
يَوْمَ يُنفَخُ فِى ٱلصُّورِ فَتَأْتُونَ أَفْوَاجًا
78:18
The Day that the Trumpet shall be sounded, and ye shall come forth in crowds; - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
78:19
وَفُتِحَتِ ٱلسَّمَآءُ فَكَانَتْ أَبْوَٰبًا
78:19
And the heavens shall be opened as if there were doors, - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
78:20
وَسُيِّرَتِ ٱلْجِبَالُ فَكَانَتْ سَرَابًا
78:20
And the mountains shall vanish, as if they were a mirage. - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
78:21
إِنَّ جَهَنَّمَ كَانَتْ مِرْصَادًا
78:21
Truly Hell is as a place of ambush, - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
78:22
لِّلطَّـٰغِينَ مَـَٔابًا
78:22
For the transgressors a place of destination: - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
78:23
لَّـٰبِثِينَ فِيهَآ أَحْقَابًا
78:23
They will dwell therein for ages. - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
78:24
لَّا يَذُوقُونَ فِيهَا بَرْدًا وَلَا شَرَابًا
78:24
Nothing cool shall they taste therein, nor any drink, - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
78:25
إِلَّا حَمِيمًا وَغَسَّاقًا
78:25
Save a boiling fluid and a fluid, dark, murky, intensely cold, - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
78:26
جَزَآءً وِفَاقًا
78:26
A fitting recompense (for them). - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
78:27
إِنَّهُمْ كَانُوا۟ لَا يَرْجُونَ حِسَابًا
78:27
For that they used not to fear any account (for their deeds), - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
78:28
وَكَذَّبُوا۟ بِـَٔايَـٰتِنَا كِذَّابًا
78:28
But they (impudently) treated Our Signs as false. - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
78:29
وَكُلَّ شَىْءٍ أَحْصَيْنَـٰهُ كِتَـٰبًا
78:29
And all things have We preserved on record. - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
78:30
فَذُوقُوا۟ فَلَن نَّزِيدَكُمْ إِلَّا عَذَابًا
78:30
"So taste ye (the fruits of your deeds); for no increase shall We grant you, except in Punishment." - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
78:31
إِنَّ لِلْمُتَّقِينَ مَفَازًا
78:31
Verily for the Righteous there will be a fulfilment of (the heart's) desires; - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
78:32
حَدَآئِقَ وَأَعْنَـٰبًا
78:32
Gardens enclosed, and grapevines; - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
78:33
وَكَوَاعِبَ أَتْرَابًا
78:33
And voluptuous women of equal age; - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
78:34
وَكَأْسًا دِهَاقًا
78:34
And a cup full (to the brim). - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
78:35
لَّا يَسْمَعُونَ فِيهَا لَغْوًا وَلَا كِذَّٰبًا
78:35
No vanity shall they hear therein, nor Untruth:- - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
78:36
جَزَآءً مِّن رَّبِّكَ عَطَآءً حِسَابًا
78:36
Recompense from thy Lord, a gift, (amply) sufficient, - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
78:37
رَّبِّ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَا ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِ ۖ لَا يَمْلِكُونَ مِنْهُ خِطَابًا
78:37
(From) the Lord of the heavens and the earth, and all between, (Allah) Most Gracious: None shall have power to argue with Him. - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
78:38
يَوْمَ يَقُومُ ٱلرُّوحُ وَٱلْمَلَـٰٓئِكَةُ صَفًّا ۖ لَّا يَتَكَلَّمُونَ إِلَّا مَنْ أَذِنَ لَهُ ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنُ وَقَالَ صَوَابًا
78:38
The Day that the Spirit and the angels will stand forth in ranks, none shall speak except any who is permitted by (Allah) Most Gracious, and He will say what is right. - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
78:39
ذَٰلِكَ ٱلْيَوْمُ ٱلْحَقُّ ۖ فَمَن شَآءَ ٱتَّخَذَ إِلَىٰ رَبِّهِۦ مَـَٔابًا
78:39
That Day will be the sure Reality: Therefore, whoso will, let him take a (straight) return to his Lord! - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
78:40
إِنَّآ أَنذَرْنَـٰكُمْ عَذَابًا قَرِيبًا يَوْمَ يَنظُرُ ٱلْمَرْءُ مَا قَدَّمَتْ يَدَاهُ وَيَقُولُ ٱلْكَافِرُ يَـٰلَيْتَنِى كُنتُ تُرَٰبًۢا
78:40
Verily, We have warned you of a Penalty near, the Day when man will see (the deeds) which his hands have sent forth, and the Unbeliever will say, "Woe unto me! Would that I were (metre) dust!" - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
