بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.
78:1
عَمَّ يَتَسَآءَلُونَ
78:1
What are they asking each other about? - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
78:2
عَنِ ٱلنَّبَإِ ٱلْعَظِيمِ
78:2
About the awesome tidings [of resurrection] - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
78:3
ٱلَّذِى هُمْ فِيهِ مُخْتَلِفُونَ
78:3
concerning which they are in disagreement! - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
78:4
كَلَّا سَيَعْلَمُونَ
78:4
But they will soon come to know. - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
78:5
ثُمَّ كَلَّا سَيَعْلَمُونَ
78:5
Surely, they will soon find out the truth! - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
78:6
أَلَمْ نَجْعَلِ ٱلْأَرْضَ مِهَـٰدًا
78:6
Have We not spread the earth like a bed, - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
78:7
وَٱلْجِبَالَ أَوْتَادًا
78:7
and raised the mountains like supporting poles? - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
78:8
وَخَلَقْنَـٰكُمْ أَزْوَٰجًا
78:8
We created you in pairs, - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
78:9
وَجَعَلْنَا نَوْمَكُمْ سُبَاتًا
78:9
and gave you repose in sleep, - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
78:10
وَجَعَلْنَا ٱلَّيْلَ لِبَاسًا
78:10
and the night as a cover, - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
78:11
وَجَعَلْنَا ٱلنَّهَارَ مَعَاشًا
78:11
and made the day for earning a livelihood. - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
78:12
وَبَنَيْنَا فَوْقَكُمْ سَبْعًا شِدَادًا
78:12
We have built above you seven mighty heavens, - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
78:13
وَجَعَلْنَا سِرَاجًا وَهَّاجًا
78:13
and We have set therein a glowing lamp. - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
78:14
وَأَنزَلْنَا مِنَ ٱلْمُعْصِرَٰتِ مَآءً ثَجَّاجًا
78:14
>From the rain clouds We send waters pouring down in abundance, - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
78:15
لِّنُخْرِجَ بِهِۦ حَبًّا وَنَبَاتًا
78:15
so that We may bring forth thereby grain and a variety of plants, - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
78:16
وَجَنَّـٰتٍ أَلْفَافًا
78:16
and gardens dense with foliage. - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
78:17
إِنَّ يَوْمَ ٱلْفَصْلِ كَانَ مِيقَـٰتًا
78:17
Surely, the Day of Judgement has an appointed time. - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
78:18
يَوْمَ يُنفَخُ فِى ٱلصُّورِ فَتَأْتُونَ أَفْوَاجًا
78:18
On that Day when the trumpet shall be sounded, you shall come in droves, - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
78:19
وَفُتِحَتِ ٱلسَّمَآءُ فَكَانَتْ أَبْوَٰبًا
78:19
and the heaven shall be opened, and become gates, - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
78:20
وَسُيِّرَتِ ٱلْجِبَالُ فَكَانَتْ سَرَابًا
78:20
and the mountains shall be made to vanish, as if they had been a mirage. - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
78:21
إِنَّ جَهَنَّمَ كَانَتْ مِرْصَادًا
78:21
Surely, Hell lies in wait, - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
78:22
لِّلطَّـٰغِينَ مَـَٔابًا
78:22
a home for the transgressors, - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
78:23
لَّـٰبِثِينَ فِيهَآ أَحْقَابًا
78:23
where they shall remain for ages, - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
78:24
لَّا يَذُوقُونَ فِيهَا بَرْدًا وَلَا شَرَابًا
78:24
and where they will taste neither coolness nor any drink - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
78:25
إِلَّا حَمِيمًا وَغَسَّاقًا
78:25
save boiling water and a stinking fluid -- - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
78:26
جَزَآءً وِفَاقًا
78:26
a fitting requital, - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
78:27
إِنَّهُمْ كَانُوا۟ لَا يَرْجُونَ حِسَابًا
78:27
for they never expected to be called to account, - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
78:28
وَكَذَّبُوا۟ بِـَٔايَـٰتِنَا كِذَّابًا
78:28
and they rejected outright Our signs; - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
78:29
وَكُلَّ شَىْءٍ أَحْصَيْنَـٰهُ كِتَـٰبًا
78:29
but We have recorded everything in a Book. - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
78:30
فَذُوقُوا۟ فَلَن نَّزِيدَكُمْ إِلَّا عَذَابًا
78:30
[So We shall say], "Taste, then, [the fruit of your evil doings,] for now We shall bestow on you nothing but more and more suffering!" - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
78:31
إِنَّ لِلْمُتَّقِينَ مَفَازًا
78:31
As for those who are mindful of God, they shall surely triumph: - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
78:32
حَدَآئِقَ وَأَعْنَـٰبًا
78:32
theirs shall be gardens and vineyards, - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
78:33
وَكَوَاعِبَ أَتْرَابًا
78:33
and young maidens of equal age, - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
78:34
وَكَأْسًا دِهَاقًا
78:34
and overflowing cups. - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
78:35
لَّا يَسْمَعُونَ فِيهَا لَغْوًا وَلَا كِذَّٰبًا
78:35
There they shall not hear any idle talk, or any untruth: - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
78:36
جَزَآءً مِّن رَّبِّكَ عَطَآءً حِسَابًا
78:36
all this will be a recompense, a gift, that will suffice them, from your Lord, - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
78:37
رَّبِّ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَا ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِ ۖ لَا يَمْلِكُونَ مِنْهُ خِطَابًا
78:37
the Sustainer of the heavens and the earth and all that lies between them, the most Gracious [and] none shall have it in their power to raise their voices to Him. - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
78:38
يَوْمَ يَقُومُ ٱلرُّوحُ وَٱلْمَلَـٰٓئِكَةُ صَفًّا ۖ لَّا يَتَكَلَّمُونَ إِلَّا مَنْ أَذِنَ لَهُ ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنُ وَقَالَ صَوَابًا
78:38
On the Day when the Spirit and the angels stand in ranks, no one will speak, except for those to whom the Lord of Mercy gives permission, and who will say only what is right. - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
78:39
ذَٰلِكَ ٱلْيَوْمُ ٱلْحَقُّ ۖ فَمَن شَآءَ ٱتَّخَذَ إِلَىٰ رَبِّهِۦ مَـَٔابًا
78:39
That Day is sure to come, so whoever wishes to, let him take the path that leads towards his Lord. - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
78:40
إِنَّآ أَنذَرْنَـٰكُمْ عَذَابًا قَرِيبًا يَوْمَ يَنظُرُ ٱلْمَرْءُ مَا قَدَّمَتْ يَدَاهُ وَيَقُولُ ٱلْكَافِرُ يَـٰلَيْتَنِى كُنتُ تُرَٰبًۢا
78:40
We have warned you of a chastisement which is near at hand, on the Day when man shall [clearly] see what his hands have sent ahead, and when he who has denied the truth shall say, "Oh, would that I were dust!" - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
