بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.
78:1
عَمَّ يَتَسَآءَلُونَ
78:1
Of what do they ask one another? - Mohammad Habib Shakir (English)
78:2
عَنِ ٱلنَّبَإِ ٱلْعَظِيمِ
78:2
About the great event, - Mohammad Habib Shakir (English)
78:3
ٱلَّذِى هُمْ فِيهِ مُخْتَلِفُونَ
78:3
About which they differ? - Mohammad Habib Shakir (English)
78:4
كَلَّا سَيَعْلَمُونَ
78:4
Nay! they shall soon come to know - Mohammad Habib Shakir (English)
78:5
ثُمَّ كَلَّا سَيَعْلَمُونَ
78:5
Nay! Nay! they shall soon know. - Mohammad Habib Shakir (English)
78:6
أَلَمْ نَجْعَلِ ٱلْأَرْضَ مِهَـٰدًا
78:6
Have We not made the earth an even expanse? - Mohammad Habib Shakir (English)
78:7
وَٱلْجِبَالَ أَوْتَادًا
78:7
And the mountains as projections (thereon)? - Mohammad Habib Shakir (English)
78:8
وَخَلَقْنَـٰكُمْ أَزْوَٰجًا
78:8
And We created you in pairs, - Mohammad Habib Shakir (English)
78:9
وَجَعَلْنَا نَوْمَكُمْ سُبَاتًا
78:9
And We made your sleep to be rest (to you), - Mohammad Habib Shakir (English)
78:10
وَجَعَلْنَا ٱلَّيْلَ لِبَاسًا
78:10
And We made the night to be a covering, - Mohammad Habib Shakir (English)
78:11
وَجَعَلْنَا ٱلنَّهَارَ مَعَاشًا
78:11
And We made the day for seeking livelihood. - Mohammad Habib Shakir (English)
78:12
وَبَنَيْنَا فَوْقَكُمْ سَبْعًا شِدَادًا
78:12
And We made above you seven strong ones, - Mohammad Habib Shakir (English)
78:13
وَجَعَلْنَا سِرَاجًا وَهَّاجًا
78:13
And We made a shining lamp, - Mohammad Habib Shakir (English)
78:14
وَأَنزَلْنَا مِنَ ٱلْمُعْصِرَٰتِ مَآءً ثَجَّاجًا
78:14
And We send down from the clouds water pouring forth abundantly, - Mohammad Habib Shakir (English)
78:15
لِّنُخْرِجَ بِهِۦ حَبًّا وَنَبَاتًا
78:15
That We may bring forth thereby corn and herbs, - Mohammad Habib Shakir (English)
78:16
وَجَنَّـٰتٍ أَلْفَافًا
78:16
And gardens dense and luxuriant. - Mohammad Habib Shakir (English)
78:17
إِنَّ يَوْمَ ٱلْفَصْلِ كَانَ مِيقَـٰتًا
78:17
Surely the day of decision is (a day) appointed: - Mohammad Habib Shakir (English)
78:18
يَوْمَ يُنفَخُ فِى ٱلصُّورِ فَتَأْتُونَ أَفْوَاجًا
78:18
The day on which the trumpet shall be blown so you shall come forth in hosts, - Mohammad Habib Shakir (English)
78:19
وَفُتِحَتِ ٱلسَّمَآءُ فَكَانَتْ أَبْوَٰبًا
78:19
And the heaven shall be opened so that it shall be all openings, - Mohammad Habib Shakir (English)
78:20
وَسُيِّرَتِ ٱلْجِبَالُ فَكَانَتْ سَرَابًا
78:20
And the mountains shall be moved off so that they shall remain a mere semblance. - Mohammad Habib Shakir (English)
78:21
إِنَّ جَهَنَّمَ كَانَتْ مِرْصَادًا
78:21
Surely hell lies in wait, - Mohammad Habib Shakir (English)
78:22
لِّلطَّـٰغِينَ مَـَٔابًا
78:22
A place of resort for the inordinate, - Mohammad Habib Shakir (English)
78:23
لَّـٰبِثِينَ فِيهَآ أَحْقَابًا
78:23
Living therein for ages. - Mohammad Habib Shakir (English)
78:24
لَّا يَذُوقُونَ فِيهَا بَرْدًا وَلَا شَرَابًا
78:24
They shall not taste therein cool nor drink - Mohammad Habib Shakir (English)
78:25
إِلَّا حَمِيمًا وَغَسَّاقًا
78:25
But boiling and intensely cold water, - Mohammad Habib Shakir (English)
78:26
جَزَآءً وِفَاقًا
78:26
Requital corresponding. - Mohammad Habib Shakir (English)
78:27
إِنَّهُمْ كَانُوا۟ لَا يَرْجُونَ حِسَابًا
78:27
Surely they feared not the account, - Mohammad Habib Shakir (English)
78:28
وَكَذَّبُوا۟ بِـَٔايَـٰتِنَا كِذَّابًا
78:28
And called Our communications a lie, giving the lie (to the truth). - Mohammad Habib Shakir (English)
78:29
وَكُلَّ شَىْءٍ أَحْصَيْنَـٰهُ كِتَـٰبًا
78:29
And We have recorded everything in a book, - Mohammad Habib Shakir (English)
78:30
فَذُوقُوا۟ فَلَن نَّزِيدَكُمْ إِلَّا عَذَابًا
78:30
So taste! for We will not add to you aught but chastisement. - Mohammad Habib Shakir (English)
78:31
إِنَّ لِلْمُتَّقِينَ مَفَازًا
78:31
Surely for those who guard (against evil) is achievement, - Mohammad Habib Shakir (English)
78:32
حَدَآئِقَ وَأَعْنَـٰبًا
78:32
Gardens and vineyards, - Mohammad Habib Shakir (English)
78:33
وَكَوَاعِبَ أَتْرَابًا
78:33
And voluptuous women of equal age; - Mohammad Habib Shakir (English)
78:34
وَكَأْسًا دِهَاقًا
78:34
And a pure cup. - Mohammad Habib Shakir (English)
78:35
لَّا يَسْمَعُونَ فِيهَا لَغْوًا وَلَا كِذَّٰبًا
78:35
They shall not hear therein any vain words nor lying. - Mohammad Habib Shakir (English)
78:36
جَزَآءً مِّن رَّبِّكَ عَطَآءً حِسَابًا
78:36
A reward from your Lord, a gift according to a reckoning: - Mohammad Habib Shakir (English)
78:37
رَّبِّ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَا ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِ ۖ لَا يَمْلِكُونَ مِنْهُ خِطَابًا
78:37
The Lord of the heavens and the earth and what is between them, the Beneficent Allah, they shall not be able to address Him. - Mohammad Habib Shakir (English)
78:38
يَوْمَ يَقُومُ ٱلرُّوحُ وَٱلْمَلَـٰٓئِكَةُ صَفًّا ۖ لَّا يَتَكَلَّمُونَ إِلَّا مَنْ أَذِنَ لَهُ ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنُ وَقَالَ صَوَابًا
78:38
The day on which the spirit and the angels shall stand in ranks; they shall not speak except he whom the Beneficent Allah permits and who speaks the right thing. - Mohammad Habib Shakir (English)
78:39
ذَٰلِكَ ٱلْيَوْمُ ٱلْحَقُّ ۖ فَمَن شَآءَ ٱتَّخَذَ إِلَىٰ رَبِّهِۦ مَـَٔابًا
78:39
That is the sure day, so whoever desires may take refuge with his Lord. - Mohammad Habib Shakir (English)
78:40
إِنَّآ أَنذَرْنَـٰكُمْ عَذَابًا قَرِيبًا يَوْمَ يَنظُرُ ٱلْمَرْءُ مَا قَدَّمَتْ يَدَاهُ وَيَقُولُ ٱلْكَافِرُ يَـٰلَيْتَنِى كُنتُ تُرَٰبًۢا
78:40
Surely We have warned you of a chastisement near at hand: the day when man shall see what his two hands have sent before, and the unbeliever shall say: O! would that I were dust! - Mohammad Habib Shakir (English)
