بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.
78:1
عَمَّ يَتَسَآءَلُونَ
78:1
Of what ask they? - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
78:2
عَنِ ٱلنَّبَإِ ٱلْعَظِيمِ
78:2
Of the mighty Announcement, - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
78:3
ٱلَّذِى هُمْ فِيهِ مُخْتَلِفُونَ
78:3
Concerning which they differ. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
78:4
كَلَّا سَيَعْلَمُونَ
78:4
By no means! anon they shall know. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
78:5
ثُمَّ كَلَّا سَيَعْلَمُونَ
78:5
Again, by no means! anon they shall know. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
78:6
أَلَمْ نَجْعَلِ ٱلْأَرْضَ مِهَـٰدًا
78:6
Have We not made the earth an expanse. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
78:7
وَٱلْجِبَالَ أَوْتَادًا
78:7
And the mountains as stakes? - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
78:8
وَخَلَقْنَـٰكُمْ أَزْوَٰجًا
78:8
And We have created you in pairs. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
78:9
وَجَعَلْنَا نَوْمَكُمْ سُبَاتًا
78:9
And We have made your sleep as a rest. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
78:10
وَجَعَلْنَا ٱلَّيْلَ لِبَاسًا
78:10
And We have made the night a covering. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
78:11
وَجَعَلْنَا ٱلنَّهَارَ مَعَاشًا
78:11
And We have made the day for seeking livelihood. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
78:12
وَبَنَيْنَا فَوْقَكُمْ سَبْعًا شِدَادًا
78:12
And We have builded over you seven strong heavens. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
78:13
وَجَعَلْنَا سِرَاجًا وَهَّاجًا
78:13
And We have set therein lamps glowing. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
78:14
وَأَنزَلْنَا مِنَ ٱلْمُعْصِرَٰتِ مَآءً ثَجَّاجًا
78:14
And We have sent down from the rain-clouds water plenteous. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
78:15
لِّنُخْرِجَ بِهِۦ حَبًّا وَنَبَاتًا
78:15
So that We bring forth thereby corn and vegetation. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
78:16
وَجَنَّـٰتٍ أَلْفَافًا
78:16
And gardens thick with trees. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
78:17
إِنَّ يَوْمَ ٱلْفَصْلِ كَانَ مِيقَـٰتًا
78:17
Verily the Day of Decision is a time appointed. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
78:18
يَوْمَ يُنفَخُ فِى ٱلصُّورِ فَتَأْتُونَ أَفْوَاجًا
78:18
It is a Day whereon the trumpet will be blown, and ye will come in multitudes. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
78:19
وَفُتِحَتِ ٱلسَّمَآءُ فَكَانَتْ أَبْوَٰبًا
78:19
And the heaven will have been opened, and it will have become doors. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
78:20
وَسُيِّرَتِ ٱلْجِبَالُ فَكَانَتْ سَرَابًا
78:20
And the mountains will have been removed away, and they will have become as mirage. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
78:21
إِنَّ جَهَنَّمَ كَانَتْ مِرْصَادًا
78:21
Verily the Hell is an ambuscade: - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
78:22
لِّلطَّـٰغِينَ مَـَٔابًا
78:22
For the exorbitant a receptacle. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
78:23
لَّـٰبِثِينَ فِيهَآ أَحْقَابًا
78:23
They will tarry therein for ages. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
78:24
لَّا يَذُوقُونَ فِيهَا بَرْدًا وَلَا شَرَابًا
78:24
They will not taste therein cool or any drink. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
78:25
إِلَّا حَمِيمًا وَغَسَّاقًا
78:25
Save scalding water and corruption. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
78:26
جَزَآءً وِفَاقًا
78:26
Recompense fitted! - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
78:27
إِنَّهُمْ كَانُوا۟ لَا يَرْجُونَ حِسَابًا
78:27
Verily they were wont not to look for a reckoning. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
78:28
وَكَذَّبُوا۟ بِـَٔايَـٰتِنَا كِذَّابًا
78:28
And they belied Our revelations with strong belying. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
78:29
وَكُلَّ شَىْءٍ أَحْصَيْنَـٰهُ كِتَـٰبًا
78:29
And everything We have recorded in a book. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
78:30
فَذُوقُوا۟ فَلَن نَّزِيدَكُمْ إِلَّا عَذَابًا
78:30
Taste therefore. We shall not increase you in aught but torment. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
78:31
إِنَّ لِلْمُتَّقِينَ مَفَازًا
78:31
Verily for the God-fearing is an achievement. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
78:32
حَدَآئِقَ وَأَعْنَـٰبًا
78:32
Gardens enclosed and vineyards, - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
78:33
وَكَوَاعِبَ أَتْرَابًا
78:33
And full-breasted maidens of equal age. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
78:34
وَكَأْسًا دِهَاقًا
78:34
And a cup overflowing. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
78:35
لَّا يَسْمَعُونَ فِيهَا لَغْوًا وَلَا كِذَّٰبًا
78:35
They will hear therein no babble nor falsehood: - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
78:36
جَزَآءً مِّن رَّبِّكَ عَطَآءً حِسَابًا
78:36
A recompense from thy Lord-a gift sufficient - - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
78:37
رَّبِّ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَا ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِ ۖ لَا يَمْلِكُونَ مِنْهُ خِطَابًا
78:37
From the Lord of the heavens and the earth and of whatsoever is in bet-ween them, the Compassionate with Whom they can demand not audience. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
78:38
يَوْمَ يَقُومُ ٱلرُّوحُ وَٱلْمَلَـٰٓئِكَةُ صَفًّا ۖ لَّا يَتَكَلَّمُونَ إِلَّا مَنْ أَذِنَ لَهُ ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنُ وَقَالَ صَوَابًا
78:38
On the Day whereon the spirits and the angels will stand arrayed, they will not be able to speak save him whom the Compassionate giveth leave and who speaketh aright. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
78:39
ذَٰلِكَ ٱلْيَوْمُ ٱلْحَقُّ ۖ فَمَن شَآءَ ٱتَّخَذَ إِلَىٰ رَبِّهِۦ مَـَٔابًا
78:39
That is the Sure Day. Whosoever therefore willeth, let him betake Unto his Lord a resort. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
78:40
إِنَّآ أَنذَرْنَـٰكُمْ عَذَابًا قَرِيبًا يَوْمَ يَنظُرُ ٱلْمَرْءُ مَا قَدَّمَتْ يَدَاهُ وَيَقُولُ ٱلْكَافِرُ يَـٰلَيْتَنِى كُنتُ تُرَٰبًۢا
78:40
Verily We! We have warned you of a torment nigh at hand, a Day whereon a man shall behold that which his hands have sent forth, and the infidel will say: would that I were dust! - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
