بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.

55:1 ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنُ
55:1 The Merciful One - Abul Ala Maududi (English)

55:2 عَلَّمَ ٱلْقُرْءَانَ
55:2 has taught the Qur'an, - Abul Ala Maududi (English)

55:3 خَلَقَ ٱلْإِنسَـٰنَ
55:3 has created man, - Abul Ala Maududi (English)

55:4 عَلَّمَهُ ٱلْبَيَانَ
55:4 and has taught him articulate speech. - Abul Ala Maududi (English)

55:5 ٱلشَّمْسُ وَٱلْقَمَرُ بِحُسْبَانٍ
55:5 The sun and the moon follow a reckoning, - Abul Ala Maududi (English)

55:6 وَٱلنَّجْمُ وَٱلشَّجَرُ يَسْجُدَانِ
55:6 and the stars and the trees all prostrate themselves, - Abul Ala Maududi (English)

55:7 وَٱلسَّمَآءَ رَفَعَهَا وَوَضَعَ ٱلْمِيزَانَ
55:7 and He has raised up the heaven and has set a balance - Abul Ala Maududi (English)

55:8 أَلَّا تَطْغَوْا۟ فِى ٱلْمِيزَانِ
55:8 that you may not transgress in the balance, - Abul Ala Maududi (English)

55:9 وَأَقِيمُوا۟ ٱلْوَزْنَ بِٱلْقِسْطِ وَلَا تُخْسِرُوا۟ ٱلْمِيزَانَ
55:9 but weigh things equitably and skimp not in the balance. - Abul Ala Maududi (English)

55:10 وَٱلْأَرْضَ وَضَعَهَا لِلْأَنَامِ
55:10 And He has set up the earth for all beings. - Abul Ala Maududi (English)

55:11 فِيهَا فَـٰكِهَةٌ وَٱلنَّخْلُ ذَاتُ ٱلْأَكْمَامِ
55:11 Therein are fruit and palm-trees with their dates in sheaths, - Abul Ala Maududi (English)

55:12 وَٱلْحَبُّ ذُو ٱلْعَصْفِ وَٱلرَّيْحَانُ
55:12 and a variety of corn with both husk and grain. - Abul Ala Maududi (English)

55:13 فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ
55:13 Which of the bounties of your Lord will you twain – you men and jinn – then deny? - Abul Ala Maududi (English)

55:14 خَلَقَ ٱلْإِنسَـٰنَ مِن صَلْصَـٰلٍ كَٱلْفَخَّارِ
55:14 He has created man from dry, rotten clay like the potter's, - Abul Ala Maududi (English)

55:15 وَخَلَقَ ٱلْجَآنَّ مِن مَّارِجٍ مِّن نَّارٍ
55:15 and has created the jinn from the flame of fire. - Abul Ala Maududi (English)

55:16 فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ
55:16 Which of the wonders of your Lord's power will you twain – you men and jinn – then deny? - Abul Ala Maududi (English)

55:17 رَبُّ ٱلْمَشْرِقَيْنِ وَرَبُّ ٱلْمَغْرِبَيْنِ
55:17 Lord of the two easts and of the two wests is He. - Abul Ala Maududi (English)

55:18 فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ
55:18 Which of the powers of your Lord will you twain – you men and jinn – then deny? - Abul Ala Maududi (English)

55:19 مَرَجَ ٱلْبَحْرَيْنِ يَلْتَقِيَانِ
55:19 He unleashed the two seas so that they merge together, - Abul Ala Maududi (English)

55:20 بَيْنَهُمَا بَرْزَخٌ لَّا يَبْغِيَانِ
55:20 and yet there is a barrier between them which they may not overstep. - Abul Ala Maududi (English)

55:21 فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ
55:21 Which of the wonders of your Lord will you twain – you men and jinn – then deny? - Abul Ala Maududi (English)

55:22 يَخْرُجُ مِنْهُمَا ٱللُّؤْلُؤُ وَٱلْمَرْجَانُ
55:22 From these seas come forth pearls and coral. - Abul Ala Maududi (English)

55:23 فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ
55:23 Which of the wonders of your Lord's power will you twain – you men and jinn – then deny? - Abul Ala Maududi (English)

55:24 وَلَهُ ٱلْجَوَارِ ٱلْمُنشَـَٔاتُ فِى ٱلْبَحْرِ كَٱلْأَعْلَـٰمِ
55:24 His are the ships, towering on the sea like mountains. - Abul Ala Maududi (English)

55:25 فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ
55:25 Which of the favours of your Lord will you twain – you men and jinn – then deny? - Abul Ala Maududi (English)

55:26 كُلُّ مَنْ عَلَيْهَا فَانٍ
55:26 All that is on earth will perish, - Abul Ala Maududi (English)

55:27 وَيَبْقَىٰ وَجْهُ رَبِّكَ ذُو ٱلْجَلَـٰلِ وَٱلْإِكْرَامِ
55:27 only the Person of your Lord, full of majesty and splendour, will endure. - Abul Ala Maududi (English)

55:28 فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ
55:28 So which of the wonders of your Lord will you twain – you men and jinn – then deny? - Abul Ala Maududi (English)

55:29 يَسْـَٔلُهُۥ مَن فِى ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ ۚ كُلَّ يَوْمٍ هُوَ فِى شَأْنٍ
55:29 All in the heavens and the earth entreat Him for their needs; a new, mighty task engages Him each day. - Abul Ala Maududi (English)

55:30 فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ
55:30 Which of your Lord's laudable attributes will you twain – you men and jinn – then deny? - Abul Ala Maududi (English)

55:31 سَنَفْرُغُ لَكُمْ أَيُّهَ ٱلثَّقَلَانِ
55:31 O you twain, who are a burden (on the earth), We shall attend to you and call you to account. - Abul Ala Maududi (English)

55:32 فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ
55:32 (We shall then see), which of the favours of your Lord will you twain – you men and jinn – then deny? - Abul Ala Maududi (English)

55:33 يَـٰمَعْشَرَ ٱلْجِنِّ وَٱلْإِنسِ إِنِ ٱسْتَطَعْتُمْ أَن تَنفُذُوا۟ مِنْ أَقْطَارِ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ فَٱنفُذُوا۟ ۚ لَا تَنفُذُونَ إِلَّا بِسُلْطَـٰنٍ
55:33 O company of jinn and men, if you have the power to go beyond the bounds of the heavens and the earth, go beyond them! Yet you will be unable to go beyond them for that requires infinite power. - Abul Ala Maududi (English)

55:34 فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ
55:34 Which of your Lord's powers will you twain – you men and jinn – then deny? - Abul Ala Maududi (English)

55:35 يُرْسَلُ عَلَيْكُمَا شُوَاظٌ مِّن نَّارٍ وَنُحَاسٌ فَلَا تَنتَصِرَانِ
55:35 (If you so venture) a flame of fire and smoke shall be lashed at you, which you shall be unable to withstand. - Abul Ala Maududi (English)

55:36 فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ
55:36 Which of your Lord's powers will you twain – you men and jinn – then deny? - Abul Ala Maududi (English)

55:37 فَإِذَا ٱنشَقَّتِ ٱلسَّمَآءُ فَكَانَتْ وَرْدَةً كَٱلدِّهَانِ
55:37 (What will happen) when the heaven will be split asunder and will become crimson like leather? - Abul Ala Maududi (English)

55:38 فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ
55:38 Which of your Lord's powers will you twain – you men and jinn – then deny? - Abul Ala Maududi (English)

55:39 فَيَوْمَئِذٍ لَّا يُسْـَٔلُ عَن ذَنۢبِهِۦٓ إِنسٌ وَلَا جَآنٌّ
55:39 On that Day there will be no need to ask either men or jinn about their sins. - Abul Ala Maududi (English)

55:40 فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ
55:40 (We shall see) which of the favours of your Lord will you twain – you men and jinn – then deny? - Abul Ala Maududi (English)

55:41 يُعْرَفُ ٱلْمُجْرِمُونَ بِسِيمَـٰهُمْ فَيُؤْخَذُ بِٱلنَّوَٰصِى وَٱلْأَقْدَامِ
55:41 The culprits shall be known by their marks, and shall be seized by their forelocks and their feet. - Abul Ala Maududi (English)

55:42 فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ
55:42 Which of the powers of your Lord, will you twain – you men and jinn – then deny? - Abul Ala Maududi (English)

55:43 هَـٰذِهِۦ جَهَنَّمُ ٱلَّتِى يُكَذِّبُ بِهَا ٱلْمُجْرِمُونَ
55:43 (It will be said): “This is the Hell that the culprits had cried lies to. - Abul Ala Maududi (English)

55:44 يَطُوفُونَ بَيْنَهَا وَبَيْنَ حَمِيمٍ ءَانٍ
55:44 They will keep circling around between Hell and boiling water. - Abul Ala Maududi (English)

55:45 فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ
55:45 Which of your Lord's powers will you twain – you men and jinn – then deny? - Abul Ala Maududi (English)

55:46 وَلِمَنْ خَافَ مَقَامَ رَبِّهِۦ جَنَّتَانِ
55:46 For any who fears to stand before his Lord are two Gardens. - Abul Ala Maududi (English)

55:47 فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ
55:47 Which of your Lord's favours will you twain – you men and jinn – then deny? - Abul Ala Maududi (English)

55:48 ذَوَاتَآ أَفْنَانٍ
55:48 These Gardens will abound in green, blooming branches. - Abul Ala Maududi (English)

55:49 فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ
55:49 Which of your Lord's favours will you twain – you men and jinn – then deny? - Abul Ala Maududi (English)

55:50 فِيهِمَا عَيْنَانِ تَجْرِيَانِ
55:50 In each of the two Gardens are two flowing springs. - Abul Ala Maududi (English)

55:51 فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ
55:51 Which of your Lord's favours will you twain – you men and jinn – then deny? - Abul Ala Maududi (English)

55:52 فِيهِمَا مِن كُلِّ فَـٰكِهَةٍ زَوْجَانِ
55:52 In both these is a pair of every fruit. - Abul Ala Maududi (English)

55:53 فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ
55:53 Which of your Lord's favours will you twain – you men and jinn – then deny? - Abul Ala Maududi (English)

55:54 مُتَّكِـِٔينَ عَلَىٰ فُرُشٍۭ بَطَآئِنُهَا مِنْ إِسْتَبْرَقٍ ۚ وَجَنَى ٱلْجَنَّتَيْنِ دَانٍ
55:54 They shall recline on couches lined with brocade, and within reach shall hang the fruits of the two Gardens. - Abul Ala Maududi (English)

55:55 فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ
55:55 Which of your Lord's favours will you twain – you men and jinn – then deny? - Abul Ala Maududi (English)

55:56 فِيهِنَّ قَـٰصِرَٰتُ ٱلطَّرْفِ لَمْ يَطْمِثْهُنَّ إِنسٌ قَبْلَهُمْ وَلَا جَآنٌّ
55:56 In the midst of these shall be maidens with modest, restrained glances; maidens whom no man or jinn has ever touched before. - Abul Ala Maududi (English)

55:57 فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ
55:57 Which of your Lord's favours will you twain – you men and jinn – then deny? - Abul Ala Maududi (English)

55:58 كَأَنَّهُنَّ ٱلْيَاقُوتُ وَٱلْمَرْجَانُ
55:58 Lovely as rubies and pearls. - Abul Ala Maududi (English)

55:59 فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ
55:59 Which of the favours of your Lord will you twain – you men and jinn – then deny? - Abul Ala Maududi (English)

55:60 هَلْ جَزَآءُ ٱلْإِحْسَـٰنِ إِلَّا ٱلْإِحْسَـٰنُ
55:60 Can the reward of goodness be any other than goodness? - Abul Ala Maududi (English)

55:61 فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ
55:61 Which of the laudable attributes of your Lord will you twain – you men and jinn – then deny? - Abul Ala Maududi (English)

55:62 وَمِن دُونِهِمَا جَنَّتَانِ
55:62 And besides these two there shall be two other Gardens. - Abul Ala Maududi (English)

55:63 فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ
55:63 Which of the favours of your Lord will you twain – you men and jinn – then deny? - Abul Ala Maududi (English)

55:64 مُدْهَآمَّتَانِ
55:64 Two Gardens, dark green and fresh. - Abul Ala Maududi (English)

55:65 فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ
55:65 Which of the favours of your Lord will you twain – you men and jinn – then deny? - Abul Ala Maududi (English)

55:66 فِيهِمَا عَيْنَانِ نَضَّاخَتَانِ
55:66 In them will be two gushing springs. - Abul Ala Maududi (English)

55:67 فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ
55:67 Which of the favours of your Lord will you twain – you men and jinn – then deny? - Abul Ala Maududi (English)

55:68 فِيهِمَا فَـٰكِهَةٌ وَنَخْلٌ وَرُمَّانٌ
55:68 Therein will be fruits and dates and pomegranates. - Abul Ala Maududi (English)

55:69 فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ
55:69 Which of the favours of your Lord will you twain – you men and jinn – then deny? - Abul Ala Maududi (English)

55:70 فِيهِنَّ خَيْرَٰتٌ حِسَانٌ
55:70 In the midst of these will be maidens, good and comely. - Abul Ala Maududi (English)

55:71 فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ
55:71 Which of the favours of your Lord will you twain – you men and jinn – then deny? - Abul Ala Maududi (English)

55:72 حُورٌ مَّقْصُورَٰتٌ فِى ٱلْخِيَامِ
55:72 There shall be maidens sheltered in tents. - Abul Ala Maududi (English)

55:73 فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ
55:73 Which of the favours of your Lord will you twain – you men and jinn – then deny? - Abul Ala Maududi (English)

55:74 لَمْ يَطْمِثْهُنَّ إِنسٌ قَبْلَهُمْ وَلَا جَآنٌّ
55:74 No man or jinn ever touched them before. - Abul Ala Maududi (English)

55:75 فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ
55:75 Which of the favours of your Lord will you twain – you men and jinn – then deny? - Abul Ala Maududi (English)

55:76 مُتَّكِـِٔينَ عَلَىٰ رَفْرَفٍ خُضْرٍ وَعَبْقَرِىٍّ حِسَانٍ
55:76 They shall be reclining on green cushions and splendid carpets. - Abul Ala Maududi (English)

55:77 فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ
55:77 Which of the favours of your Lord will you twain – you men and jinn – then deny? - Abul Ala Maududi (English)

55:78 تَبَـٰرَكَ ٱسْمُ رَبِّكَ ذِى ٱلْجَلَـٰلِ وَٱلْإِكْرَامِ
55:78 Blessed be the name of your Lord, the Lord of Majesty and Glory. - Abul Ala Maududi (English)
