بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.
85:1
وَٱلسَّمَآءِ ذَاتِ ٱلْبُرُوجِ
85:1
By the sky, (displaying) the Zodiacal Signs; - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
85:2
وَٱلْيَوْمِ ٱلْمَوْعُودِ
85:2
By the promised Day (of Judgment); - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
85:3
وَشَاهِدٍ وَمَشْهُودٍ
85:3
By one that witnesses, and the subject of the witness;- - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
85:4
قُتِلَ أَصْحَـٰبُ ٱلْأُخْدُودِ
85:4
Woe to the makers of the pit (of fire), - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
85:5
ٱلنَّارِ ذَاتِ ٱلْوَقُودِ
85:5
Fire supplied (abundantly) with fuel: - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
85:6
إِذْ هُمْ عَلَيْهَا قُعُودٌ
85:6
Behold! they sat over against the (fire), - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
85:7
وَهُمْ عَلَىٰ مَا يَفْعَلُونَ بِٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ شُهُودٌ
85:7
And they witnessed (all) that they were doing against the Believers. - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
85:8
وَمَا نَقَمُوا۟ مِنْهُمْ إِلَّآ أَن يُؤْمِنُوا۟ بِٱللَّهِ ٱلْعَزِيزِ ٱلْحَمِيدِ
85:8
And they ill-treated them for no other reason than that they believed in Allah, Exalted in Power, Worthy of all Praise!- - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
85:9
ٱلَّذِى لَهُۥ مُلْكُ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ ۚ وَٱللَّهُ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَىْءٍ شَهِيدٌ
85:9
Him to Whom belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth! And Allah is Witness to all things. - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
85:10
إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ فَتَنُوا۟ ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ وَٱلْمُؤْمِنَـٰتِ ثُمَّ لَمْ يَتُوبُوا۟ فَلَهُمْ عَذَابُ جَهَنَّمَ وَلَهُمْ عَذَابُ ٱلْحَرِيقِ
85:10
Those who persecute (or draw into temptation) the Believers, men and women, and do not turn in repentance, will have the Penalty of Hell: They will have the Penalty of the Burning Fire. - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
85:11
إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَعَمِلُوا۟ ٱلصَّـٰلِحَـٰتِ لَهُمْ جَنَّـٰتٌ تَجْرِى مِن تَحْتِهَا ٱلْأَنْهَـٰرُ ۚ ذَٰلِكَ ٱلْفَوْزُ ٱلْكَبِيرُ
85:11
For those who believe and do righteous deeds, will be Gardens; beneath which rivers flow: That is the great Salvation, (the fulfilment of all desires), - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
85:12
إِنَّ بَطْشَ رَبِّكَ لَشَدِيدٌ
85:12
Truly strong is the Grip (and Power) of thy Lord. - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
85:13
إِنَّهُۥ هُوَ يُبْدِئُ وَيُعِيدُ
85:13
It is He Who creates from the very beginning, and He can restore (life). - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
85:14
وَهُوَ ٱلْغَفُورُ ٱلْوَدُودُ
85:14
And He is the Oft-Forgiving, Full of Loving-Kindness, - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
85:15
ذُو ٱلْعَرْشِ ٱلْمَجِيدُ
85:15
Lord of the Throne of Glory, - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
85:16
فَعَّالٌ لِّمَا يُرِيدُ
85:16
Doer (without let) of all that He intends. - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
85:17
هَلْ أَتَىٰكَ حَدِيثُ ٱلْجُنُودِ
85:17
Has the story reached thee, of the forces- - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
85:18
فِرْعَوْنَ وَثَمُودَ
85:18
Of Pharaoh and the Thamud? - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
85:19
بَلِ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ فِى تَكْذِيبٍ
85:19
And yet the Unbelievers (persist) in rejecting (the Truth)! - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
85:20
وَٱللَّهُ مِن وَرَآئِهِم مُّحِيطٌۢ
85:20
But Allah doth encompass them from behind! - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
85:21
بَلْ هُوَ قُرْءَانٌ مَّجِيدٌ
85:21
Nay, this is a Glorious Qur'an, - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
85:22
فِى لَوْحٍ مَّحْفُوظٍۭ
85:22
(Inscribed) in a Tablet Preserved! - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
