بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.
85:1
وَٱلسَّمَآءِ ذَاتِ ٱلْبُرُوجِ
85:1

وَٱلْيَوْمِ ٱلْمَوْعُودِ
85:2

وَشَاهِدٍ وَمَشْهُودٍ
85:3

قُتِلَ أَصْحَـٰبُ ٱلْأُخْدُودِ
85:4

ٱلنَّارِ ذَاتِ ٱلْوَقُودِ
85:5
the fire abounding in fuel, - A. J. Arberry (English)
85:6
إِذْ هُمْ عَلَيْهَا قُعُودٌ
85:6

85:7
وَهُمْ عَلَىٰ مَا يَفْعَلُونَ بِٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ شُهُودٌ
85:7
and were themselves witnesses of what they did with the believers. - A. J. Arberry (English)
85:8
وَمَا نَقَمُوا۟ مِنْهُمْ إِلَّآ أَن يُؤْمِنُوا۟ بِٱللَّهِ ٱلْعَزِيزِ ٱلْحَمِيدِ
85:8
They took revenge on them only because they believed in the All-mighty, the Al-laudable, - A. J. Arberry (English)
85:9
ٱلَّذِى لَهُۥ مُلْكُ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ ۚ وَٱللَّهُ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَىْءٍ شَهِيدٌ
85:9
God to whom belongs the Kingdom of the heavens and the earth, and God is Witness over everything. - A. J. Arberry (English)
85:10
إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ فَتَنُوا۟ ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ وَٱلْمُؤْمِنَـٰتِ ثُمَّ لَمْ يَتُوبُوا۟ فَلَهُمْ عَذَابُ جَهَنَّمَ وَلَهُمْ عَذَابُ ٱلْحَرِيقِ
85:10
Those who persecute the believers, men and women, and then have not repented, there awaits them the chastisement of Gehenna, and there awaits them the chastisement of the burning. - A. J. Arberry (English)
85:11
إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَعَمِلُوا۟ ٱلصَّـٰلِحَـٰتِ لَهُمْ جَنَّـٰتٌ تَجْرِى مِن تَحْتِهَا ٱلْأَنْهَـٰرُ ۚ ذَٰلِكَ ٱلْفَوْزُ ٱلْكَبِيرُ
85:11
Those who believe, and do righteous deeds, for them await gardens underneath which rivers flow; that is the great triumph. - A. J. Arberry (English)
85:12
إِنَّ بَطْشَ رَبِّكَ لَشَدِيدٌ
85:12
Surely thy Lord's assault is terrible. - A. J. Arberry (English)

إِنَّهُۥ هُوَ يُبْدِئُ وَيُعِيدُ
85:13
Surely it is He who originates, and brings again, - A. J. Arberry (English)

وَهُوَ ٱلْغَفُورُ ٱلْوَدُودُ
85:14
and He is the All-forgiving, the All-loving, - A. J. Arberry (English)

ذُو ٱلْعَرْشِ ٱلْمَجِيدُ
85:15
Lord of the Throne, the All-glorious, - A. J. Arberry (English)

فَعَّالٌ لِّمَا يُرِيدُ
85:16

هَلْ أَتَىٰكَ حَدِيثُ ٱلْجُنُودِ
85:17
Hast thou received the story of the hosts, - A. J. Arberry (English)

فِرْعَوْنَ وَثَمُودَ
85:18

بَلِ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ فِى تَكْذِيبٍ
85:19
Nay, but the unbelievers still cry lies, - A. J. Arberry (English)

وَٱللَّهُ مِن وَرَآئِهِم مُّحِيطٌۢ
85:20
and God is behind them, encompassing. - A. J. Arberry (English)

بَلْ هُوَ قُرْءَانٌ مَّجِيدٌ

Nay, but it is a glorious Koran, - A. J. Arberry (English)

فِى لَوْحٍ مَّحْفُوظٍۭ
