بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.
85:1
وَٱلسَّمَآءِ ذَاتِ ٱلْبُرُوجِ
85:1

وَٱلْيَوْمِ ٱلْمَوْعُودِ
85:2

85:3
وَشَاهِدٍ وَمَشْهُودٍ
85:3
And by the witness and that whereunto he beareth testimony, - Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall (English)
85:4
قُتِلَ أَصْحَـٰبُ ٱلْأُخْدُودِ
85:4
(Self-)destroyed were the owners of the ditch - Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall (English)
85:5
ٱلنَّارِ ذَاتِ ٱلْوَقُودِ
85:5
Of the fuel-fed fire, - Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall (English)
85:6
إِذْ هُمْ عَلَيْهَا قُعُودٌ
85:6
When they sat by it, - Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall (English)
85:7
وَهُمْ عَلَىٰ مَا يَفْعَلُونَ بِٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ شُهُودٌ
85:7
And were themselves the witnesses of what they did to the believers. - Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall (English)
85:8
وَمَا نَقَمُوا۟ مِنْهُمْ إِلَّآ أَن يُؤْمِنُوا۟ بِٱللَّهِ ٱلْعَزِيزِ ٱلْحَمِيدِ
85:8
They had naught against them save that they believed in Allah, the Mighty, the Owner of Praise, - Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall (English)
85:9
ٱلَّذِى لَهُۥ مُلْكُ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ ۚ وَٱللَّهُ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَىْءٍ شَهِيدٌ
85:9
Him unto Whom belongeth the Sovereignty of the heavens and the earth; and Allah is of all things the Witness. - Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall (English)
85:10
إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ فَتَنُوا۟ ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ وَٱلْمُؤْمِنَـٰتِ ثُمَّ لَمْ يَتُوبُوا۟ فَلَهُمْ عَذَابُ جَهَنَّمَ وَلَهُمْ عَذَابُ ٱلْحَرِيقِ
85:10
Lo! they who persecute believing men and believing women and repent not, theirs verily will be the doom of hell, and theirs the doom of burning. - Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall (English)
85:11
إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَعَمِلُوا۟ ٱلصَّـٰلِحَـٰتِ لَهُمْ جَنَّـٰتٌ تَجْرِى مِن تَحْتِهَا ٱلْأَنْهَـٰرُ ۚ ذَٰلِكَ ٱلْفَوْزُ ٱلْكَبِيرُ
85:11
Lo! those who believe and do good works, theirs will be Gardens underneath which rivers flow. That is the Great Success. - Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall (English)

إِنَّ بَطْشَ رَبِّكَ لَشَدِيدٌ
85:12
Lo! the punishment of thy Lord is stern. - Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall (English)

إِنَّهُۥ هُوَ يُبْدِئُ وَيُعِيدُ
85:13
Lo! He it is Who produceth, then reproduceth, - Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall (English)
85:14
وَهُوَ ٱلْغَفُورُ ٱلْوَدُودُ
85:14
And He is the Forgiving, the Loving, - Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall (English)
85:15
ذُو ٱلْعَرْشِ ٱلْمَجِيدُ
85:15
Lord of the Throne of Glory, - Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall (English)
85:16
فَعَّالٌ لِّمَا يُرِيدُ
85:16
Doer of what He will. - Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall (English)
85:17
هَلْ أَتَىٰكَ حَدِيثُ ٱلْجُنُودِ
85:17
Hath there come unto thee the story of the hosts - Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall (English)
85:18
فِرْعَوْنَ وَثَمُودَ
85:18
Of Pharaoh and (the tribe of) Thamud? - Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall (English)
85:19
بَلِ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ فِى تَكْذِيبٍ
85:19
Nay, but those who disbelieve live in denial - Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall (English)
85:20
وَٱللَّهُ مِن وَرَآئِهِم مُّحِيطٌۢ
85:20
And Allah, all unseen, surroundeth them. - Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall (English)
85:21
بَلْ هُوَ قُرْءَانٌ مَّجِيدٌ
85:21
Nay, but it is a glorious Qur'an. - Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall (English)

فِى لَوْحٍ مَّحْفُوظٍۭ
85:22
On a guarded tablet. - Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall (English)
