Transliteration
Wahiduddin Khan
بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.
54:1
ٱقْتَرَبَتِ ٱلسَّاعَةُ وَٱنشَقَّ ٱلْقَمَرُ
54:1
The Hour has drawn near, and the moon has split. - Talal Itani (English)
54:2
وَإِن يَرَوْا۟ ءَايَةً يُعْرِضُوا۟ وَيَقُولُوا۟ سِحْرٌ مُّسْتَمِرٌّ
54:2
Yet whenever they see a miracle, they turn away, and say, “Continuous magic.” - Talal Itani (English)
54:3
وَكَذَّبُوا۟ وَٱتَّبَعُوٓا۟ أَهْوَآءَهُمْ ۚ وَكُلُّ أَمْرٍ مُّسْتَقِرٌّ
54:3
They lied, and followed their opinions, but everything has its time. - Talal Itani (English)
54:4
وَلَقَدْ جَآءَهُم مِّنَ ٱلْأَنۢبَآءِ مَا فِيهِ مُزْدَجَرٌ
54:4
And there came to them news containing a deterrent. - Talal Itani (English)
54:5
حِكْمَةٌۢ بَـٰلِغَةٌ ۖ فَمَا تُغْنِ ٱلنُّذُرُ
54:5
Profound wisdom—but warnings are of no avail. - Talal Itani (English)
54:6
فَتَوَلَّ عَنْهُمْ ۘ يَوْمَ يَدْعُ ٱلدَّاعِ إِلَىٰ شَىْءٍ نُّكُرٍ
54:6
So turn away from them. On the Day when the Caller calls to something terrible. - Talal Itani (English)
54:7
خُشَّعًا أَبْصَـٰرُهُمْ يَخْرُجُونَ مِنَ ٱلْأَجْدَاثِ كَأَنَّهُمْ جَرَادٌ مُّنتَشِرٌ
54:7
Their eyes humiliated, they will emerge from the graves, as if they were swarming locusts. - Talal Itani (English)
54:8
مُّهْطِعِينَ إِلَى ٱلدَّاعِ ۖ يَقُولُ ٱلْكَـٰفِرُونَ هَـٰذَا يَوْمٌ عَسِرٌ
54:8
Scrambling towards the Caller, the disbelievers will say, “This is a difficult Day.” - Talal Itani (English)
54:9
۞ كَذَّبَتْ قَبْلَهُمْ قَوْمُ نُوحٍ فَكَذَّبُوا۟ عَبْدَنَا وَقَالُوا۟ مَجْنُونٌ وَٱزْدُجِرَ
54:9
Before them the people of Noah disbelieved. They rejected Our servant, and said, “Crazy,” and he was rebuked. - Talal Itani (English)
54:10
فَدَعَا رَبَّهُۥٓ أَنِّى مَغْلُوبٌ فَٱنتَصِرْ
54:10
So he appealed to his Lord, “I am overwhelmed, so help me.” - Talal Itani (English)
54:11
فَفَتَحْنَآ أَبْوَٰبَ ٱلسَّمَآءِ بِمَآءٍ مُّنْهَمِرٍ
54:11
So We opened the floodgates of heaven with water pouring down. - Talal Itani (English)
54:12
وَفَجَّرْنَا ٱلْأَرْضَ عُيُونًا فَٱلْتَقَى ٱلْمَآءُ عَلَىٰٓ أَمْرٍ قَدْ قُدِرَ
54:12
And We made the earth burst with springs, and the waters met for a purpose already destined. - Talal Itani (English)
54:13
وَحَمَلْنَـٰهُ عَلَىٰ ذَاتِ أَلْوَٰحٍ وَدُسُرٍ
54:13
And We carried him on a craft of planks and nails. - Talal Itani (English)
54:14
تَجْرِى بِأَعْيُنِنَا جَزَآءً لِّمَن كَانَ كُفِرَ
54:14
Sailing before Our eyes; a reward for him who was rejected. - Talal Itani (English)
54:15
وَلَقَد تَّرَكْنَـٰهَآ ءَايَةً فَهَلْ مِن مُّدَّكِرٍ
54:15
And We left it as a sign. Is there anyone who would take heed? - Talal Itani (English)
54:16
فَكَيْفَ كَانَ عَذَابِى وَنُذُرِ
54:16
So how were My punishment and My warnings? - Talal Itani (English)
54:17
وَلَقَدْ يَسَّرْنَا ٱلْقُرْءَانَ لِلذِّكْرِ فَهَلْ مِن مُّدَّكِرٍ
54:17
We made the Quran easy to learn. Is there anyone who would learn? - Talal Itani (English)
54:18
كَذَّبَتْ عَادٌ فَكَيْفَ كَانَ عَذَابِى وَنُذُرِ
54:18
Aad denied the truth. So how were My punishment and My warnings? - Talal Itani (English)
54:19
إِنَّآ أَرْسَلْنَا عَلَيْهِمْ رِيحًا صَرْصَرًا فِى يَوْمِ نَحْسٍ مُّسْتَمِرٍّ
54:19
We unleashed upon them a screaming wind, on a day of unrelenting misery. - Talal Itani (English)
54:20
تَنزِعُ ٱلنَّاسَ كَأَنَّهُمْ أَعْجَازُ نَخْلٍ مُّنقَعِرٍ
54:20
Plucking the people away, as though they were trunks of uprooted palm-trees. - Talal Itani (English)
54:21
فَكَيْفَ كَانَ عَذَابِى وَنُذُرِ
54:21
So how were My punishment and My warnings? - Talal Itani (English)
54:22
وَلَقَدْ يَسَّرْنَا ٱلْقُرْءَانَ لِلذِّكْرِ فَهَلْ مِن مُّدَّكِرٍ
54:22
We made the Quran easy to remember. Is there anyone who would remember? - Talal Itani (English)
54:23
كَذَّبَتْ ثَمُودُ بِٱلنُّذُرِ
54:23
Thamood rejected the warnings. - Talal Itani (English)
54:24
فَقَالُوٓا۟ أَبَشَرًا مِّنَّا وَٰحِدًا نَّتَّبِعُهُۥٓ إِنَّآ إِذًا لَّفِى ضَلَـٰلٍ وَسُعُرٍ
54:24
They said, “Are we to follow one of us, a human being? We would then go astray, and end up in Hell. - Talal Itani (English)
54:25
أَءُلْقِىَ ٱلذِّكْرُ عَلَيْهِ مِنۢ بَيْنِنَا بَلْ هُوَ كَذَّابٌ أَشِرٌ
54:25
Was the message given to him, out of all of us? In fact, he is a wicked liar.” - Talal Itani (English)
54:26
سَيَعْلَمُونَ غَدًا مَّنِ ٱلْكَذَّابُ ٱلْأَشِرُ
54:26
They will know tomorrow who the wicked liar is. - Talal Itani (English)
54:27
إِنَّا مُرْسِلُوا۟ ٱلنَّاقَةِ فِتْنَةً لَّهُمْ فَٱرْتَقِبْهُمْ وَٱصْطَبِرْ
54:27
We are sending the she-camel as a test for them; so watch them and be patient. - Talal Itani (English)
54:28
وَنَبِّئْهُمْ أَنَّ ٱلْمَآءَ قِسْمَةٌۢ بَيْنَهُمْ ۖ كُلُّ شِرْبٍ مُّحْتَضَرٌ
54:28
And inform them that the water is to be shared between them; each share of drink made available. - Talal Itani (English)
54:29
فَنَادَوْا۟ صَاحِبَهُمْ فَتَعَاطَىٰ فَعَقَرَ
54:29
But they called their friend, and he dared, and he slaughtered. - Talal Itani (English)
54:30
فَكَيْفَ كَانَ عَذَابِى وَنُذُرِ
54:30
So how were My punishment and My warnings? - Talal Itani (English)
54:31
إِنَّآ أَرْسَلْنَا عَلَيْهِمْ صَيْحَةً وَٰحِدَةً فَكَانُوا۟ كَهَشِيمِ ٱلْمُحْتَظِرِ
54:31
We sent against them a single Scream, and they became like crushed hay. - Talal Itani (English)
54:32
وَلَقَدْ يَسَّرْنَا ٱلْقُرْءَانَ لِلذِّكْرِ فَهَلْ مِن مُّدَّكِرٍ
54:32
We made the Quran easy to understand. Is there anyone who would understand? - Talal Itani (English)
54:33
كَذَّبَتْ قَوْمُ لُوطٍۭ بِٱلنُّذُرِ
54:33
The people of Lot rejected the warnings. - Talal Itani (English)
54:34
إِنَّآ أَرْسَلْنَا عَلَيْهِمْ حَاصِبًا إِلَّآ ءَالَ لُوطٍ ۖ نَّجَّيْنَـٰهُم بِسَحَرٍ
54:34
We unleashed upon them a shower of stones, except for the family of Lot; We rescued them at dawn. - Talal Itani (English)
54:35
نِّعْمَةً مِّنْ عِندِنَا ۚ كَذَٰلِكَ نَجْزِى مَن شَكَرَ
54:35
A blessing from Us. Thus We reward the thankful. - Talal Itani (English)
54:36
وَلَقَدْ أَنذَرَهُم بَطْشَتَنَا فَتَمَارَوْا۟ بِٱلنُّذُرِ
54:36
He had warned them of Our onslaught, but they dismissed the warnings. - Talal Itani (English)
54:37
وَلَقَدْ رَٰوَدُوهُ عَن ضَيْفِهِۦ فَطَمَسْنَآ أَعْيُنَهُمْ فَذُوقُوا۟ عَذَابِى وَنُذُرِ
54:37
They even lusted for his guest, so We obliterated their eyes. “So taste My punishment and My warnings.” - Talal Itani (English)
54:38
وَلَقَدْ صَبَّحَهُم بُكْرَةً عَذَابٌ مُّسْتَقِرٌّ
54:38
Early morning brought upon them enduring punishment. - Talal Itani (English)
54:39
فَذُوقُوا۟ عَذَابِى وَنُذُرِ
54:39
So taste My punishment and My warnings. - Talal Itani (English)
54:40
وَلَقَدْ يَسَّرْنَا ٱلْقُرْءَانَ لِلذِّكْرِ فَهَلْ مِن مُّدَّكِرٍ
54:40
We made the Quran easy to memorize. Is there anyone who would memorize? - Talal Itani (English)
54:41
وَلَقَدْ جَآءَ ءَالَ فِرْعَوْنَ ٱلنُّذُرُ
54:41
The warnings also came to the people of Pharaoh. - Talal Itani (English)
54:42
كَذَّبُوا۟ بِـَٔايَـٰتِنَا كُلِّهَا فَأَخَذْنَـٰهُمْ أَخْذَ عَزِيزٍ مُّقْتَدِرٍ
54:42
They rejected Our signs, all of them, so We seized them—the seizure of an Almighty Omnipotent. - Talal Itani (English)
54:43
أَكُفَّارُكُمْ خَيْرٌ مِّنْ أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكُمْ أَمْ لَكُم بَرَآءَةٌ فِى ٱلزُّبُرِ
54:43
Are your unbelievers better than all those? Or do you have immunity in the scriptures? - Talal Itani (English)
54:44
أَمْ يَقُولُونَ نَحْنُ جَمِيعٌ مُّنتَصِرٌ
54:44
Or do they say, “We are united, and we will be victorious”? - Talal Itani (English)
54:45
سَيُهْزَمُ ٱلْجَمْعُ وَيُوَلُّونَ ٱلدُّبُرَ
54:45
The multitude will be defeated, and they will turn their backs. - Talal Itani (English)
54:46
بَلِ ٱلسَّاعَةُ مَوْعِدُهُمْ وَٱلسَّاعَةُ أَدْهَىٰ وَأَمَرُّ
54:46
The Hour is their appointed time—the Hour is more disastrous, and most bitter. - Talal Itani (English)
54:47
إِنَّ ٱلْمُجْرِمِينَ فِى ضَلَـٰلٍ وَسُعُرٍ
54:47
The wicked are in confusion and madness. - Talal Itani (English)
54:48
يَوْمَ يُسْحَبُونَ فِى ٱلنَّارِ عَلَىٰ وُجُوهِهِمْ ذُوقُوا۟ مَسَّ سَقَرَ
54:48
The Day when they are dragged upon their faces into the Fire: “Taste the touch of Saqar.” - Talal Itani (English)
54:49
إِنَّا كُلَّ شَىْءٍ خَلَقْنَـٰهُ بِقَدَرٍ
54:49
Everything We created is precisely measured. - Talal Itani (English)
54:50
وَمَآ أَمْرُنَآ إِلَّا وَٰحِدَةٌ كَلَمْحٍۭ بِٱلْبَصَرِ
54:50
And Our command is but once, like the twinkling of an eye. - Talal Itani (English)
54:51
وَلَقَدْ أَهْلَكْنَآ أَشْيَاعَكُمْ فَهَلْ مِن مُّدَّكِرٍ
54:51
We have destroyed your likes. Is there anyone who would ponder? - Talal Itani (English)
54:52
وَكُلُّ شَىْءٍ فَعَلُوهُ فِى ٱلزُّبُرِ
54:52
Everything they have done is in the Books. - Talal Itani (English)
54:53
وَكُلُّ صَغِيرٍ وَكَبِيرٍ مُّسْتَطَرٌ
54:53
Everything, small or large, is written down. - Talal Itani (English)
54:54
إِنَّ ٱلْمُتَّقِينَ فِى جَنَّـٰتٍ وَنَهَرٍ
54:54
The righteous will be amidst gardens and rivers. - Talal Itani (English)
54:55
فِى مَقْعَدِ صِدْقٍ عِندَ مَلِيكٍ مُّقْتَدِرٍۭ
54:55
In an assembly of virtue, in the presence of an Omnipotent King. - Talal Itani (English)
