Transliteration
Wahiduddin Khan
بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.
54:1
ٱقْتَرَبَتِ ٱلسَّاعَةُ وَٱنشَقَّ ٱلْقَمَرُ
54:1
The Hour hath drawn nigh, and the moon hath been rent in sunder.. And if they behold a sign, they turn away and say: magic continuous. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
54:2
وَإِن يَرَوْا۟ ءَايَةً يُعْرِضُوا۟ وَيَقُولُوا۟ سِحْرٌ مُّسْتَمِرٌّ
54:2
And if they behold a sign, they turn away and say: "magic continous" - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
54:3
وَكَذَّبُوا۟ وَٱتَّبَعُوٓا۟ أَهْوَآءَهُمْ ۚ وَكُلُّ أَمْرٍ مُّسْتَقِرٌّ
54:3
And they belied, and they followed their lusts; and every affair cometh to a final goal. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
54:4
وَلَقَدْ جَآءَهُم مِّنَ ٱلْأَنۢبَآءِ مَا فِيهِ مُزْدَجَرٌ
54:4
And assuredly there hath come Unto them tidings wherein is a deterrent. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
54:5
حِكْمَةٌۢ بَـٰلِغَةٌ ۖ فَمَا تُغْنِ ٱلنُّذُرُ
54:5
Wisdom consummate. But warnings avail not. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
54:6
فَتَوَلَّ عَنْهُمْ ۘ يَوْمَ يَدْعُ ٱلدَّاعِ إِلَىٰ شَىْءٍ نُّكُرٍ
54:6
Wherefore withdrew thou from them. The Day whereon the sum- moner Will summon mankind Unto a thing unpleasant. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)

خُشَّعًا أَبْصَـٰرُهُمْ يَخْرُجُونَ مِنَ ٱلْأَجْدَاثِ كَأَنَّهُمْ جَرَادٌ مُّنتَشِرٌ
54:7
With looks downcast they will come forth, from the tombs, as though they were locusts scattered abroad. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
54:8
مُّهْطِعِينَ إِلَى ٱلدَّاعِ ۖ يَقُولُ ٱلْكَـٰفِرُونَ هَـٰذَا يَوْمٌ عَسِرٌ
54:8
Hastening toward the summoner. The infidels will say: this is a day diffrcult. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
54:9
۞ كَذَّبَتْ قَبْلَهُمْ قَوْمُ نُوحٍ فَكَذَّبُوا۟ عَبْدَنَا وَقَالُوا۟ مَجْنُونٌ وَٱزْدُجِرَ
54:9
There belied before them the people of Nuh. So they belied Our bondman Nuh and said: `a madman;' and moreover he was reproven. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
54:10
فَدَعَا رَبَّهُۥٓ أَنِّى مَغْلُوبٌ فَٱنتَصِرْ
54:10
Thereupon he prayed Unto his Lord: verily am overcome, so vindicate me. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
54:11
فَفَتَحْنَآ أَبْوَٰبَ ٱلسَّمَآءِ بِمَآءٍ مُّنْهَمِرٍ
54:11
Then We opened the portals of heaven with water poured out. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
54:12
وَفَجَّرْنَا ٱلْأَرْضَ عُيُونًا فَٱلْتَقَى ٱلْمَآءُ عَلَىٰٓ أَمْرٍ قَدْ قُدِرَ
54:12
And We made the earth break forth with springs; SO that the water met for an affair already decreed. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
54:13
وَحَمَلْنَـٰهُ عَلَىٰ ذَاتِ أَلْوَٰحٍ وَدُسُرٍ
54:13
And We bare him on a thing of planks and nails. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
54:14
تَجْرِى بِأَعْيُنِنَا جَزَآءً لِّمَن كَانَ كُفِرَ
54:14
Moving forward under Our eyes: a requital for him who had been rejected. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
54:15
وَلَقَد تَّرَكْنَـٰهَآ ءَايَةً فَهَلْ مِن مُّدَّكِرٍ
54:15
And assuredly We left it for a sign. Is there then anyone who would be admonished? - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
54:16
فَكَيْفَ كَانَ عَذَابِى وَنُذُرِ
54:16
So how dreadful have been My torment and My warning! - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
54:17
وَلَقَدْ يَسَّرْنَا ٱلْقُرْءَانَ لِلذِّكْرِ فَهَلْ مِن مُّدَّكِرٍ
54:17
And assuredly We have made the Qur'an easy for admonition; is there then any one who would be admonished? - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
54:18
كَذَّبَتْ عَادٌ فَكَيْفَ كَانَ عَذَابِى وَنُذُرِ
54:18
And there belied the 'A-ad; so how dreadful have been My torment and warning! - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
54:19
إِنَّآ أَرْسَلْنَا عَلَيْهِمْ رِيحًا صَرْصَرًا فِى يَوْمِ نَحْسٍ مُّسْتَمِرٍّ
54:19
Verily We! We sent against them a raging Wind On a day of calamity continuous. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
54:20
تَنزِعُ ٱلنَّاسَ كَأَنَّهُمْ أَعْجَازُ نَخْلٍ مُّنقَعِرٍ
54:20
Carrying men away as though they were trunks of palm-trees uprooted. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
54:21
فَكَيْفَ كَانَ عَذَابِى وَنُذُرِ
54:21
So how dreodful have been My torment and My warning. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
54:22
وَلَقَدْ يَسَّرْنَا ٱلْقُرْءَانَ لِلذِّكْرِ فَهَلْ مِن مُّدَّكِرٍ
54:22
And assuredly We have made the Qur'an easy for admonition; is therethen any one who would be admonished! - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
54:23
كَذَّبَتْ ثَمُودُ بِٱلنُّذُرِ
54:23
And the Thamud belied the warnings. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
54:24
فَقَالُوٓا۟ أَبَشَرًا مِّنَّا وَٰحِدًا نَّتَّبِعُهُۥٓ إِنَّآ إِذًا لَّفِى ضَلَـٰلٍ وَسُعُرٍ
54:24
And they said: a mere humanbeing from amongst us, and single! shall we follow him! verily then we should fall in error and madness. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
54:25
أَءُلْقِىَ ٱلذِّكْرُ عَلَيْهِ مِنۢ بَيْنِنَا بَلْ هُوَ كَذَّابٌ أَشِرٌ
54:25
Hath the Admonition been laid upon him from amongst us! Aye! he is a liar insolent. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
54:26
سَيَعْلَمُونَ غَدًا مَّنِ ٱلْكَذَّابُ ٱلْأَشِرُ
54:26
They shall know tomorrow whichsoever is a liar insolent. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
54:27
إِنَّا مُرْسِلُوا۟ ٱلنَّاقَةِ فِتْنَةً لَّهُمْ فَٱرْتَقِبْهُمْ وَٱصْطَبِرْ
54:27
Verify We are sending the she-camel as a test for them, so watch them thou and have patience. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
54:28
وَنَبِّئْهُمْ أَنَّ ٱلْمَآءَ قِسْمَةٌۢ بَيْنَهُمْ ۖ كُلُّ شِرْبٍ مُّحْتَضَرٌ
54:28
And declare thou Unto them that water hath been divided between them; every drinking shall be by turns. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
54:29
فَنَادَوْا۟ صَاحِبَهُمْ فَتَعَاطَىٰ فَعَقَرَ
54:29
Then they called their fellow, and he took the sword and hamstrung her, - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
54:30
فَكَيْفَ كَانَ عَذَابِى وَنُذُرِ
54:30
So how dreadful have been My torment and My warnings. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
54:31
إِنَّآ أَرْسَلْنَا عَلَيْهِمْ صَيْحَةً وَٰحِدَةً فَكَانُوا۟ كَهَشِيمِ ٱلْمُحْتَظِرِ
54:31
Verily We We sent upon them one shout, and they became as the stubble of a fold-builder. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
54:32
وَلَقَدْ يَسَّرْنَا ٱلْقُرْءَانَ لِلذِّكْرِ فَهَلْ مِن مُّدَّكِرٍ
54:32
And assuredly We have made the Qur'an eary for admanirion: is there then any one who would be admonished. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
54:33
كَذَّبَتْ قَوْمُ لُوطٍۭ بِٱلنُّذُرِ
54:33
The people of Lut belied the warnings. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
54:34
إِنَّآ أَرْسَلْنَا عَلَيْهِمْ حَاصِبًا إِلَّآ ءَالَ لُوطٍ ۖ نَّجَّيْنَـٰهُم بِسَحَرٍ
54:34
Verily We! We sent upon them a gravel-storm save the household of Lut; them We delivered at early dawn. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
54:35
نِّعْمَةً مِّنْ عِندِنَا ۚ كَذَٰلِكَ نَجْزِى مَن شَكَرَ
54:35
As a favour from us. Thus We recompense him who giveth thanks. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
54:36
وَلَقَدْ أَنذَرَهُم بَطْشَتَنَا فَتَمَارَوْا۟ بِٱلنُّذُرِ
54:36
And assuredly he had warned them of Our grasp, but: they doubted the warnings. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
54:37
وَلَقَدْ رَٰوَدُوهُ عَن ضَيْفِهِۦ فَطَمَسْنَآ أَعْيُنَهُمْ فَذُوقُوا۟ عَذَابِى وَنُذُرِ
54:37
And assuredly they solicited him for his guests: then We wiped out their eyes: taste then My torment and My warnings. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
54:38
وَلَقَدْ صَبَّحَهُم بُكْرَةً عَذَابٌ مُّسْتَقِرٌّ
54:38
And assuredly there met them early in the morning a torment settled. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
54:39
فَذُوقُوا۟ عَذَابِى وَنُذُرِ
54:39
Taste then My torment and My warnings. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
54:40
وَلَقَدْ يَسَّرْنَا ٱلْقُرْءَانَ لِلذِّكْرِ فَهَلْ مِن مُّدَّكِرٍ
54:40
And assuredly We have made the Qur'an easy for admonition; is there then any one who would be admonished. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
54:41
وَلَقَدْ جَآءَ ءَالَ فِرْعَوْنَ ٱلنُّذُرُ
54:41
And assuredly Unto the household of Fir'awn came the warning. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
54:42
كَذَّبُوا۟ بِـَٔايَـٰتِنَا كُلِّهَا فَأَخَذْنَـٰهُمْ أَخْذَ عَزِيزٍ مُّقْتَدِرٍ
54:42
They belied Our signs everyone thereof; whereof We laid hold of them with the grip of our Mighty, Powerful. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
54:43
أَكُفَّارُكُمْ خَيْرٌ مِّنْ أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكُمْ أَمْ لَكُم بَرَآءَةٌ فِى ٱلزُّبُرِ
54:43
Are your infidels better than these? Or is there an immunity for you in the Writs? - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
54:44
أَمْ يَقُولُونَ نَحْنُ جَمِيعٌ مُّنتَصِرٌ
54:44
Or is it that they say: we are a multitude prevailing! - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
54:45
سَيُهْزَمُ ٱلْجَمْعُ وَيُوَلُّونَ ٱلدُّبُرَ
54:45
Anon will their multitude be vanquished, and they will turn the back. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
54:46
بَلِ ٱلسَّاعَةُ مَوْعِدُهُمْ وَٱلسَّاعَةُ أَدْهَىٰ وَأَمَرُّ
54:46
Aye! the Hour is their appointed term, and the Hour shall be far more grievous and far more bitter. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
54:47
إِنَّ ٱلْمُجْرِمِينَ فِى ضَلَـٰلٍ وَسُعُرٍ
54:47
Verily the culprits shall be in great error and madness. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
54:48
يَوْمَ يُسْحَبُونَ فِى ٱلنَّارِ عَلَىٰ وُجُوهِهِمْ ذُوقُوا۟ مَسَّ سَقَرَ
54:48
On the Day whereon they shall be dragged into the Fire upon their faces, it shall be said Unto them: taste the touch of the Scorching. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
54:49
إِنَّا كُلَّ شَىْءٍ خَلَقْنَـٰهُ بِقَدَرٍ
54:49
Veriiy everything! We have created it by a measure. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
54:50
وَمَآ أَمْرُنَآ إِلَّا وَٰحِدَةٌ كَلَمْحٍۭ بِٱلْبَصَرِ
54:50
And Our commandment shall be but one, as the twinkling of an eye. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
54:51
وَلَقَدْ أَهْلَكْنَآ أَشْيَاعَكُمْ فَهَلْ مِن مُّدَّكِرٍ
54:51
And assuredly We have destroyed your likes; so is there any one who shall be admonished? - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
54:52
وَكُلُّ شَىْءٍ فَعَلُوهُ فِى ٱلزُّبُرِ
54:52
And everything they have wrought is in the Writs. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
54:53
وَكُلُّ صَغِيرٍ وَكَبِيرٍ مُّسْتَطَرٌ
54:53
And everything, small and great, hath been written down. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
54:54
إِنَّ ٱلْمُتَّقِينَ فِى جَنَّـٰتٍ وَنَهَرٍ
54:54
Verily the God-fearing will be in Gardens and among rivers. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
54:55
فِى مَقْعَدِ صِدْقٍ عِندَ مَلِيكٍ مُّقْتَدِرٍۭ
54:55
In a good seat, near a Sovereign Omnipotent. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
