بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.
53:1
وَٱلنَّجْمِ إِذَا هَوَىٰ
53:1
By the star when it sets: - Ali Quli Qarai (English)
53:2
مَا ضَلَّ صَاحِبُكُمْ وَمَا غَوَىٰ
53:2
your companion has neither gone astray, nor amiss. - Ali Quli Qarai (English)
53:3
وَمَا يَنطِقُ عَنِ ٱلْهَوَىٰٓ
53:3
Nor does he speak out of [his own] desire: - Ali Quli Qarai (English)
53:4
إِنْ هُوَ إِلَّا وَحْىٌ يُوحَىٰ
53:4
it is just a revelation that is revealed [to him], - Ali Quli Qarai (English)
53:5
عَلَّمَهُۥ شَدِيدُ ٱلْقُوَىٰ
53:5
taught him by one of great powers, - Ali Quli Qarai (English)
53:6
ذُو مِرَّةٍ فَٱسْتَوَىٰ
53:6
possessed of sound judgement. He settled, - Ali Quli Qarai (English)
53:7
وَهُوَ بِٱلْأُفُقِ ٱلْأَعْلَىٰ
53:7
while he was on the highest horizon. - Ali Quli Qarai (English)
53:8
ثُمَّ دَنَا فَتَدَلَّىٰ
53:8
Then he drew nearer and nearer - Ali Quli Qarai (English)
53:9
فَكَانَ قَابَ قَوْسَيْنِ أَوْ أَدْنَىٰ
53:9
until he was within two bows’ length or even nearer, - Ali Quli Qarai (English)
53:10
فَأَوْحَىٰٓ إِلَىٰ عَبْدِهِۦ مَآ أَوْحَىٰ
53:10
whereat He revealed to His servant whatever He revealed. - Ali Quli Qarai (English)
53:11
مَا كَذَبَ ٱلْفُؤَادُ مَا رَأَىٰٓ
53:11
The heart did not deny what it saw. - Ali Quli Qarai (English)
53:12
أَفَتُمَـٰرُونَهُۥ عَلَىٰ مَا يَرَىٰ
53:12
Will you then dispute with him about what he saw?! - Ali Quli Qarai (English)
53:13
وَلَقَدْ رَءَاهُ نَزْلَةً أُخْرَىٰ
53:13
Certainly he saw it yet another time, - Ali Quli Qarai (English)
53:14
عِندَ سِدْرَةِ ٱلْمُنتَهَىٰ
53:14
by the Lote Tree of the Ultimate Boundary, - Ali Quli Qarai (English)
53:15
عِندَهَا جَنَّةُ ٱلْمَأْوَىٰٓ
53:15
near which is the Garden of the Abode, - Ali Quli Qarai (English)
53:16
إِذْ يَغْشَى ٱلسِّدْرَةَ مَا يَغْشَىٰ
53:16
when there covered the Lote Tree what covered it. - Ali Quli Qarai (English)
53:17
مَا زَاغَ ٱلْبَصَرُ وَمَا طَغَىٰ
53:17
His gaze did not swerve, nor did it overstep the bounds. - Ali Quli Qarai (English)
53:18
لَقَدْ رَأَىٰ مِنْ ءَايَـٰتِ رَبِّهِ ٱلْكُبْرَىٰٓ
53:18
Certainly he saw some of the greatest signs of his Lord. - Ali Quli Qarai (English)
53:19
أَفَرَءَيْتُمُ ٱللَّـٰتَ وَٱلْعُزَّىٰ
53:19
Have you considered Lat and ‘Uzza? - Ali Quli Qarai (English)
53:20
وَمَنَوٰةَ ٱلثَّالِثَةَ ٱلْأُخْرَىٰٓ
53:20
and Manat, the third one? - Ali Quli Qarai (English)
53:21
أَلَكُمُ ٱلذَّكَرُ وَلَهُ ٱلْأُنثَىٰ
53:21
Are you to have males and He females? - Ali Quli Qarai (English)
53:22
تِلْكَ إِذًا قِسْمَةٌ ضِيزَىٰٓ
53:22
That, then, will be an unfair division! - Ali Quli Qarai (English)
53:23
إِنْ هِىَ إِلَّآ أَسْمَآءٌ سَمَّيْتُمُوهَآ أَنتُمْ وَءَابَآؤُكُم مَّآ أَنزَلَ ٱللَّهُ بِهَا مِن سُلْطَـٰنٍ ۚ إِن يَتَّبِعُونَ إِلَّا ٱلظَّنَّ وَمَا تَهْوَى ٱلْأَنفُسُ ۖ وَلَقَدْ جَآءَهُم مِّن رَّبِّهِمُ ٱلْهُدَىٰٓ
53:23
These are but names, which you have coined—you and your fathers—for which Allah has not sent down any authority. They follow nothing but conjectures and the desires of the [lower] soul, while there has already come to them the guidance from their Lord. - Ali Quli Qarai (English)
53:24
أَمْ لِلْإِنسَـٰنِ مَا تَمَنَّىٰ
53:24
Shall man have whatever he yearns for? - Ali Quli Qarai (English)
53:25
فَلِلَّهِ ٱلْـَٔاخِرَةُ وَٱلْأُولَىٰ
53:25
Yet to Allah belong this world and the Hereafter. - Ali Quli Qarai (English)
53:26
۞ وَكَم مِّن مَّلَكٍ فِى ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ لَا تُغْنِى شَفَـٰعَتُهُمْ شَيْـًٔا إِلَّا مِنۢ بَعْدِ أَن يَأْذَنَ ٱللَّهُ لِمَن يَشَآءُ وَيَرْضَىٰٓ
53:26
How many an angel there is in the heavens whose intercession is of not any avail, except after Allah permits whomever He wishes and approves of! - Ali Quli Qarai (English)
53:27
إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ لَا يُؤْمِنُونَ بِٱلْـَٔاخِرَةِ لَيُسَمُّونَ ٱلْمَلَـٰٓئِكَةَ تَسْمِيَةَ ٱلْأُنثَىٰ
53:27
Indeed those who do not believe in the Hereafter give female names to the angels. - Ali Quli Qarai (English)
53:28
وَمَا لَهُم بِهِۦ مِنْ عِلْمٍ ۖ إِن يَتَّبِعُونَ إِلَّا ٱلظَّنَّ ۖ وَإِنَّ ٱلظَّنَّ لَا يُغْنِى مِنَ ٱلْحَقِّ شَيْـًٔا
53:28
They do not have any knowledge of that. They follow nothing but conjectures, and conjecture is no substitute for the truth. - Ali Quli Qarai (English)
53:29
فَأَعْرِضْ عَن مَّن تَوَلَّىٰ عَن ذِكْرِنَا وَلَمْ يُرِدْ إِلَّا ٱلْحَيَوٰةَ ٱلدُّنْيَا
53:29
So avoid those who turn away from Our remembrance and desire nothing but the life of the world. - Ali Quli Qarai (English)
53:30
ذَٰلِكَ مَبْلَغُهُم مِّنَ ٱلْعِلْمِ ۚ إِنَّ رَبَّكَ هُوَ أَعْلَمُ بِمَن ضَلَّ عَن سَبِيلِهِۦ وَهُوَ أَعْلَمُ بِمَنِ ٱهْتَدَىٰ
53:30
That is the ultimate reach of their knowledge. Indeed your Lord knows best those who stray from His way, and He knows best those who are [rightly] guided. - Ali Quli Qarai (English)
53:31
وَلِلَّهِ مَا فِى ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ وَمَا فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ لِيَجْزِىَ ٱلَّذِينَ أَسَـٰٓـُٔوا۟ بِمَا عَمِلُوا۟ وَيَجْزِىَ ٱلَّذِينَ أَحْسَنُوا۟ بِٱلْحُسْنَى
53:31
To Allah belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is in the earth, that He may requite those who do evil for what they have done, and reward those who do good with the best [of rewards]. - Ali Quli Qarai (English)
53:32
ٱلَّذِينَ يَجْتَنِبُونَ كَبَـٰٓئِرَ ٱلْإِثْمِ وَٱلْفَوَٰحِشَ إِلَّا ٱللَّمَمَ ۚ إِنَّ رَبَّكَ وَٰسِعُ ٱلْمَغْفِرَةِ ۚ هُوَ أَعْلَمُ بِكُمْ إِذْ أَنشَأَكُم مِّنَ ٱلْأَرْضِ وَإِذْ أَنتُمْ أَجِنَّةٌ فِى بُطُونِ أُمَّهَـٰتِكُمْ ۖ فَلَا تُزَكُّوٓا۟ أَنفُسَكُمْ ۖ هُوَ أَعْلَمُ بِمَنِ ٱتَّقَىٰٓ
53:32
Those who avoid major sins and indecencies, apart from [minor and occasional] lapses. Indeed your Lord is expansive in [His] forgiveness. He knows you best since [the time] He produced you from the earth and since you were foetuses in the bellies of your mothers. So do not flaunt your piety: He knows best those who are Godwary. - Ali Quli Qarai (English)
53:33
أَفَرَءَيْتَ ٱلَّذِى تَوَلَّىٰ
53:33
Did you see him who turned away, - Ali Quli Qarai (English)
53:34
وَأَعْطَىٰ قَلِيلًا وَأَكْدَىٰٓ
53:34
gave a little and held off? - Ali Quli Qarai (English)
53:35
أَعِندَهُۥ عِلْمُ ٱلْغَيْبِ فَهُوَ يَرَىٰٓ
53:35
Does he have the knowledge of the Unseen so that he sees? - Ali Quli Qarai (English)
53:36
أَمْ لَمْ يُنَبَّأْ بِمَا فِى صُحُفِ مُوسَىٰ
53:36
Has he not been informed of what is in the scriptures of Moses, - Ali Quli Qarai (English)
53:37
وَإِبْرَٰهِيمَ ٱلَّذِى وَفَّىٰٓ
53:37
and of Abraham, who fulfilled [his summons]: - Ali Quli Qarai (English)
53:38
أَلَّا تَزِرُ وَازِرَةٌ وِزْرَ أُخْرَىٰ
53:38
that no bearer shall bear another’s burden, - Ali Quli Qarai (English)
53:39
وَأَن لَّيْسَ لِلْإِنسَـٰنِ إِلَّا مَا سَعَىٰ
53:39
that nothing belongs to man except what he strives for, - Ali Quli Qarai (English)
53:40
وَأَنَّ سَعْيَهُۥ سَوْفَ يُرَىٰ
53:40
and that he will soon be shown his endeavour, - Ali Quli Qarai (English)
53:41
ثُمَّ يُجْزَىٰهُ ٱلْجَزَآءَ ٱلْأَوْفَىٰ
53:41
then he will be rewarded for it with the fullest reward; - Ali Quli Qarai (English)
53:42
وَأَنَّ إِلَىٰ رَبِّكَ ٱلْمُنتَهَىٰ
53:42
that the terminus is toward your Lord, - Ali Quli Qarai (English)
53:43
وَأَنَّهُۥ هُوَ أَضْحَكَ وَأَبْكَىٰ
53:43
that it is He who makes [men] laugh, and weep, - Ali Quli Qarai (English)
53:44
وَأَنَّهُۥ هُوَ أَمَاتَ وَأَحْيَا
53:44
that it is He who brings death and gives life, - Ali Quli Qarai (English)
53:45
وَأَنَّهُۥ خَلَقَ ٱلزَّوْجَيْنِ ٱلذَّكَرَ وَٱلْأُنثَىٰ
53:45
that it is He who created the mates, the male and the female, - Ali Quli Qarai (English)
53:46
مِن نُّطْفَةٍ إِذَا تُمْنَىٰ
53:46
from a drop of [seminal] fluid when emitted; - Ali Quli Qarai (English)
53:47
وَأَنَّ عَلَيْهِ ٱلنَّشْأَةَ ٱلْأُخْرَىٰ
53:47
that with Him lies the second genesis, - Ali Quli Qarai (English)
53:48
وَأَنَّهُۥ هُوَ أَغْنَىٰ وَأَقْنَىٰ
53:48
that it is He who enriches and grants possessions, - Ali Quli Qarai (English)
53:49
وَأَنَّهُۥ هُوَ رَبُّ ٱلشِّعْرَىٰ
53:49
that it is He who is the Lord of Sirius; - Ali Quli Qarai (English)
53:50
وَأَنَّهُۥٓ أَهْلَكَ عَادًا ٱلْأُولَىٰ
53:50
that it is He who destroyed the former ‘Ad, - Ali Quli Qarai (English)
53:51
وَثَمُودَا۟ فَمَآ أَبْقَىٰ
53:51
and Thamud, sparing none [of them]; - Ali Quli Qarai (English)
53:52
وَقَوْمَ نُوحٍ مِّن قَبْلُ ۖ إِنَّهُمْ كَانُوا۟ هُمْ أَظْلَمَ وَأَطْغَىٰ
53:52
and the people of Noah before that; indeed they were more unjust and rebellious; - Ali Quli Qarai (English)
53:53
وَٱلْمُؤْتَفِكَةَ أَهْوَىٰ
53:53
and He overthrew the town that was overturned, - Ali Quli Qarai (English)
53:54
فَغَشَّىٰهَا مَا غَشَّىٰ
53:54
covering it with what covered it. - Ali Quli Qarai (English)
53:55
فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكَ تَتَمَارَىٰ
53:55
Then which of the bounties of your Lord will you dispute? - Ali Quli Qarai (English)
53:56
هَـٰذَا نَذِيرٌ مِّنَ ٱلنُّذُرِ ٱلْأُولَىٰٓ
53:56
This is a warner, [in the tradition] of the warners of old. - Ali Quli Qarai (English)
53:57
أَزِفَتِ ٱلْـَٔازِفَةُ
53:57
The Imminent [Hour] is near at hand. - Ali Quli Qarai (English)
53:58
لَيْسَ لَهَا مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ كَاشِفَةٌ
53:58
There is none who may unveil it besides Allah. - Ali Quli Qarai (English)
53:59
أَفَمِنْ هَـٰذَا ٱلْحَدِيثِ تَعْجَبُونَ
53:59
Will you then wonder at this discourse, - Ali Quli Qarai (English)
53:60
وَتَضْحَكُونَ وَلَا تَبْكُونَ
53:60
and laugh and not weep, - Ali Quli Qarai (English)
53:61
وَأَنتُمْ سَـٰمِدُونَ
53:61
while you remain heedless?! - Ali Quli Qarai (English)
53:62
فَٱسْجُدُوا۟ لِلَّهِ وَٱعْبُدُوا۟ ۩
53:62
So prostrate yourselves to Allah and worship Him! - Ali Quli Qarai (English)
