بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.
53:1
وَٱلنَّجْمِ إِذَا هَوَىٰ
53:1
By the star when it plunges, - Hasan al-Fatih Qaribullah and Ahmad Darwish (English)
53:2
مَا ضَلَّ صَاحِبُكُمْ وَمَا غَوَىٰ
53:2
your companion is neither astray, neither errs, - Hasan al-Fatih Qaribullah and Ahmad Darwish (English)
53:3
وَمَا يَنطِقُ عَنِ ٱلْهَوَىٰٓ
53:3
nor does he speak out of desire. - Hasan al-Fatih Qaribullah and Ahmad Darwish (English)
53:4
إِنْ هُوَ إِلَّا وَحْىٌ يُوحَىٰ
53:4
Indeed it is not except a Revelation which is revealed, - Hasan al-Fatih Qaribullah and Ahmad Darwish (English)
53:5
عَلَّمَهُۥ شَدِيدُ ٱلْقُوَىٰ
53:5
taught by One who is Stern in power. - Hasan al-Fatih Qaribullah and Ahmad Darwish (English)
53:6
ذُو مِرَّةٍ فَٱسْتَوَىٰ
53:6
Of might, he (Gabriel) stood firm - Hasan al-Fatih Qaribullah and Ahmad Darwish (English)
53:7
وَهُوَ بِٱلْأُفُقِ ٱلْأَعْلَىٰ
53:7
while he was in the highest horizon; - Hasan al-Fatih Qaribullah and Ahmad Darwish (English)
53:8
ثُمَّ دَنَا فَتَدَلَّىٰ
53:8
then he drew near, and became close - Hasan al-Fatih Qaribullah and Ahmad Darwish (English)
53:9
فَكَانَ قَابَ قَوْسَيْنِ أَوْ أَدْنَىٰ
53:9
he was but two bows' length or even nearer, - Hasan al-Fatih Qaribullah and Ahmad Darwish (English)
53:10
فَأَوْحَىٰٓ إِلَىٰ عَبْدِهِۦ مَآ أَوْحَىٰ
53:10
so (Allah) revealed to His worshiper (Gabriel) that which he revealed (to Prophet Muhammad). - Hasan al-Fatih Qaribullah and Ahmad Darwish (English)
53:11
مَا كَذَبَ ٱلْفُؤَادُ مَا رَأَىٰٓ
53:11
His heart did not lie of what he saw. - Hasan al-Fatih Qaribullah and Ahmad Darwish (English)
53:12
أَفَتُمَـٰرُونَهُۥ عَلَىٰ مَا يَرَىٰ
53:12
What, will you dispute with him about what he sees! - Hasan al-Fatih Qaribullah and Ahmad Darwish (English)
53:13
وَلَقَدْ رَءَاهُ نَزْلَةً أُخْرَىٰ
53:13
Indeed, he saw him in another descent - Hasan al-Fatih Qaribullah and Ahmad Darwish (English)
53:14
عِندَ سِدْرَةِ ٱلْمُنتَهَىٰ
53:14
at the Lote Tree (Sidrat tree) of the ending - Hasan al-Fatih Qaribullah and Ahmad Darwish (English)
53:15
عِندَهَا جَنَّةُ ٱلْمَأْوَىٰٓ
53:15
close to the Garden of Refuge. - Hasan al-Fatih Qaribullah and Ahmad Darwish (English)
53:16
إِذْ يَغْشَى ٱلسِّدْرَةَ مَا يَغْشَىٰ
53:16
When there comes to the Lote Tree, that which comes - Hasan al-Fatih Qaribullah and Ahmad Darwish (English)
53:17
مَا زَاغَ ٱلْبَصَرُ وَمَا طَغَىٰ
53:17
his eyes did not swerve, nor did they stray - Hasan al-Fatih Qaribullah and Ahmad Darwish (English)
53:18
لَقَدْ رَأَىٰ مِنْ ءَايَـٰتِ رَبِّهِ ٱلْكُبْرَىٰٓ
53:18
for indeed he saw one of the greatest signs of his Lord. - Hasan al-Fatih Qaribullah and Ahmad Darwish (English)
53:19
أَفَرَءَيْتُمُ ٱللَّـٰتَ وَٱلْعُزَّىٰ
53:19
(Among the idols) have you considered allat and al'uzza, - Hasan al-Fatih Qaribullah and Ahmad Darwish (English)
53:20
وَمَنَوٰةَ ٱلثَّالِثَةَ ٱلْأُخْرَىٰٓ
53:20
and, another, the third manat? - Hasan al-Fatih Qaribullah and Ahmad Darwish (English)
53:21
أَلَكُمُ ٱلذَّكَرُ وَلَهُ ٱلْأُنثَىٰ
53:21
What, have you males, and He females! - Hasan al-Fatih Qaribullah and Ahmad Darwish (English)
53:22
تِلْكَ إِذًا قِسْمَةٌ ضِيزَىٰٓ
53:22
That is indeed an unjust division. - Hasan al-Fatih Qaribullah and Ahmad Darwish (English)
53:23
إِنْ هِىَ إِلَّآ أَسْمَآءٌ سَمَّيْتُمُوهَآ أَنتُمْ وَءَابَآؤُكُم مَّآ أَنزَلَ ٱللَّهُ بِهَا مِن سُلْطَـٰنٍ ۚ إِن يَتَّبِعُونَ إِلَّا ٱلظَّنَّ وَمَا تَهْوَى ٱلْأَنفُسُ ۖ وَلَقَدْ جَآءَهُم مِّن رَّبِّهِمُ ٱلْهُدَىٰٓ
53:23
They are but names, named by you and your fathers. Allah has not sent down any authority for them. They follow conjecture and their soul's desire, eventhough the guidance of their Lord has come to them. - Hasan al-Fatih Qaribullah and Ahmad Darwish (English)
53:24
أَمْ لِلْإِنسَـٰنِ مَا تَمَنَّىٰ
53:24
Is the human to have whatever he fancies? - Hasan al-Fatih Qaribullah and Ahmad Darwish (English)
53:25
فَلِلَّهِ ٱلْـَٔاخِرَةُ وَٱلْأُولَىٰ
53:25
To Allah belongs the Eternal life and the first life. - Hasan al-Fatih Qaribullah and Ahmad Darwish (English)
53:26
۞ وَكَم مِّن مَّلَكٍ فِى ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ لَا تُغْنِى شَفَـٰعَتُهُمْ شَيْـًٔا إِلَّا مِنۢ بَعْدِ أَن يَأْذَنَ ٱللَّهُ لِمَن يَشَآءُ وَيَرْضَىٰٓ
53:26
How many an angel is there in the heavens whose intercession shall not benefit until Allah gives permission to whom He will and is pleased. - Hasan al-Fatih Qaribullah and Ahmad Darwish (English)
53:27
إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ لَا يُؤْمِنُونَ بِٱلْـَٔاخِرَةِ لَيُسَمُّونَ ٱلْمَلَـٰٓئِكَةَ تَسْمِيَةَ ٱلْأُنثَىٰ
53:27
Those who disbelieve in the Everlasting Life call the angels by female names. - Hasan al-Fatih Qaribullah and Ahmad Darwish (English)
53:28
وَمَا لَهُم بِهِۦ مِنْ عِلْمٍ ۖ إِن يَتَّبِعُونَ إِلَّا ٱلظَّنَّ ۖ وَإِنَّ ٱلظَّنَّ لَا يُغْنِى مِنَ ٱلْحَقِّ شَيْـًٔا
53:28
Yet of this they have no knowledge, they follow mere conjecture, and conjecture does not help against truth. - Hasan al-Fatih Qaribullah and Ahmad Darwish (English)
53:29
فَأَعْرِضْ عَن مَّن تَوَلَّىٰ عَن ذِكْرِنَا وَلَمْ يُرِدْ إِلَّا ٱلْحَيَوٰةَ ٱلدُّنْيَا
53:29
So turn from those who turn away from Our Remembrance and only desire this present life. - Hasan al-Fatih Qaribullah and Ahmad Darwish (English)
53:30
ذَٰلِكَ مَبْلَغُهُم مِّنَ ٱلْعِلْمِ ۚ إِنَّ رَبَّكَ هُوَ أَعْلَمُ بِمَن ضَلَّ عَن سَبِيلِهِۦ وَهُوَ أَعْلَمُ بِمَنِ ٱهْتَدَىٰ
53:30
That is all they have of knowledge. Your Lord knows best who has strayed from His Path, and those who are guided. - Hasan al-Fatih Qaribullah and Ahmad Darwish (English)
53:31
وَلِلَّهِ مَا فِى ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ وَمَا فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ لِيَجْزِىَ ٱلَّذِينَ أَسَـٰٓـُٔوا۟ بِمَا عَمِلُوا۟ وَيَجْزِىَ ٱلَّذِينَ أَحْسَنُوا۟ بِٱلْحُسْنَى
53:31
To Allah belongs whatsoever is in the heavens and whatsoever is in the earth. He will recompense the evildoers according to their deeds, and recompense those who have done good with the finest reward - Hasan al-Fatih Qaribullah and Ahmad Darwish (English)
53:32
ٱلَّذِينَ يَجْتَنِبُونَ كَبَـٰٓئِرَ ٱلْإِثْمِ وَٱلْفَوَٰحِشَ إِلَّا ٱللَّمَمَ ۚ إِنَّ رَبَّكَ وَٰسِعُ ٱلْمَغْفِرَةِ ۚ هُوَ أَعْلَمُ بِكُمْ إِذْ أَنشَأَكُم مِّنَ ٱلْأَرْضِ وَإِذْ أَنتُمْ أَجِنَّةٌ فِى بُطُونِ أُمَّهَـٰتِكُمْ ۖ فَلَا تُزَكُّوٓا۟ أَنفُسَكُمْ ۖ هُوَ أَعْلَمُ بِمَنِ ٱتَّقَىٰٓ
53:32
those who avoid the major sin and indecencies except the small sins, indeed your Lord is of immense forgiveness and He is more knowledgeable of you when He created you from the earth and when you were still unborn in your mothers' wombs. Do not praise yourself. Allah knows the cautious. - Hasan al-Fatih Qaribullah and Ahmad Darwish (English)
53:33
أَفَرَءَيْتَ ٱلَّذِى تَوَلَّىٰ
53:33
Have you considered he who turns his back, - Hasan al-Fatih Qaribullah and Ahmad Darwish (English)
53:34
وَأَعْطَىٰ قَلِيلًا وَأَكْدَىٰٓ
53:34
and gives a little, grudgingly? - Hasan al-Fatih Qaribullah and Ahmad Darwish (English)
53:35
أَعِندَهُۥ عِلْمُ ٱلْغَيْبِ فَهُوَ يَرَىٰٓ
53:35
Or, does he possess knowledge of the Unseen, and can therefore see? - Hasan al-Fatih Qaribullah and Ahmad Darwish (English)
53:36
أَمْ لَمْ يُنَبَّأْ بِمَا فِى صُحُفِ مُوسَىٰ
53:36
Or, has he not been told of that which is in the Scrolls of Moses - Hasan al-Fatih Qaribullah and Ahmad Darwish (English)
53:37
وَإِبْرَٰهِيمَ ٱلَّذِى وَفَّىٰٓ
53:37
and Abraham, who paid his debt in full? - Hasan al-Fatih Qaribullah and Ahmad Darwish (English)
53:38
أَلَّا تَزِرُ وَازِرَةٌ وِزْرَ أُخْرَىٰ
53:38
That no soul shall bear another's burden, - Hasan al-Fatih Qaribullah and Ahmad Darwish (English)
53:39
وَأَن لَّيْسَ لِلْإِنسَـٰنِ إِلَّا مَا سَعَىٰ
53:39
and that everyone shall have in his account only that which he worked for, - Hasan al-Fatih Qaribullah and Ahmad Darwish (English)
53:40
وَأَنَّ سَعْيَهُۥ سَوْفَ يُرَىٰ
53:40
and that his work is surely seen - Hasan al-Fatih Qaribullah and Ahmad Darwish (English)
53:41
ثُمَّ يُجْزَىٰهُ ٱلْجَزَآءَ ٱلْأَوْفَىٰ
53:41
then, he shall be recompensed for it in full repayment - Hasan al-Fatih Qaribullah and Ahmad Darwish (English)
53:42
وَأَنَّ إِلَىٰ رَبِّكَ ٱلْمُنتَهَىٰ
53:42
and that the final return is to your Lord, - Hasan al-Fatih Qaribullah and Ahmad Darwish (English)
53:43
وَأَنَّهُۥ هُوَ أَضْحَكَ وَأَبْكَىٰ
53:43
that it is He who causes to laugh and causes to weep. - Hasan al-Fatih Qaribullah and Ahmad Darwish (English)
53:44
وَأَنَّهُۥ هُوَ أَمَاتَ وَأَحْيَا
53:44
and that it is He who causes to die, and causes to live - Hasan al-Fatih Qaribullah and Ahmad Darwish (English)
53:45
وَأَنَّهُۥ خَلَقَ ٱلزَّوْجَيْنِ ٱلذَّكَرَ وَٱلْأُنثَىٰ
53:45
and that it is He who created pairs, the male and the female, - Hasan al-Fatih Qaribullah and Ahmad Darwish (English)
53:46
مِن نُّطْفَةٍ إِذَا تُمْنَىٰ
53:46
from an ejaculated drop (of sperm), - Hasan al-Fatih Qaribullah and Ahmad Darwish (English)
53:47
وَأَنَّ عَلَيْهِ ٱلنَّشْأَةَ ٱلْأُخْرَىٰ
53:47
and that upon Him is the second creation - Hasan al-Fatih Qaribullah and Ahmad Darwish (English)
53:48
وَأَنَّهُۥ هُوَ أَغْنَىٰ وَأَقْنَىٰ
53:48
and that it is He who gives riches and causes to hoard, - Hasan al-Fatih Qaribullah and Ahmad Darwish (English)
53:49
وَأَنَّهُۥ هُوَ رَبُّ ٱلشِّعْرَىٰ
53:49
and that He is the Lord of (the star) Sirius, - Hasan al-Fatih Qaribullah and Ahmad Darwish (English)
53:50
وَأَنَّهُۥٓ أَهْلَكَ عَادًا ٱلْأُولَىٰ
53:50
that it was He that destroyed ancient Aad - Hasan al-Fatih Qaribullah and Ahmad Darwish (English)
53:51
وَثَمُودَا۟ فَمَآ أَبْقَىٰ
53:51
and Thamood, sparing no one, - Hasan al-Fatih Qaribullah and Ahmad Darwish (English)
53:52
وَقَوْمَ نُوحٍ مِّن قَبْلُ ۖ إِنَّهُمْ كَانُوا۟ هُمْ أَظْلَمَ وَأَطْغَىٰ
53:52
and before them the nation of Noah, they exceeded in evil and were insolent. - Hasan al-Fatih Qaribullah and Ahmad Darwish (English)
53:53
وَٱلْمُؤْتَفِكَةَ أَهْوَىٰ
53:53
He plunged the villages - Hasan al-Fatih Qaribullah and Ahmad Darwish (English)
53:54
فَغَشَّىٰهَا مَا غَشَّىٰ
53:54
so that there came upon them that which came. - Hasan al-Fatih Qaribullah and Ahmad Darwish (English)
53:55
فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكَ تَتَمَارَىٰ
53:55
So which then of your Lord's favors do you dispute? - Hasan al-Fatih Qaribullah and Ahmad Darwish (English)
53:56
هَـٰذَا نَذِيرٌ مِّنَ ٱلنُّذُرِ ٱلْأُولَىٰٓ
53:56
This is a warner from the warners of ancient times. - Hasan al-Fatih Qaribullah and Ahmad Darwish (English)
53:57
أَزِفَتِ ٱلْـَٔازِفَةُ
53:57
The Imminent is near at hand; - Hasan al-Fatih Qaribullah and Ahmad Darwish (English)
53:58
لَيْسَ لَهَا مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ كَاشِفَةٌ
53:58
none except Allah can disclose it. - Hasan al-Fatih Qaribullah and Ahmad Darwish (English)
53:59
أَفَمِنْ هَـٰذَا ٱلْحَدِيثِ تَعْجَبُونَ
53:59
Do you marvel then at this discourse (the Koran)? - Hasan al-Fatih Qaribullah and Ahmad Darwish (English)
53:60
وَتَضْحَكُونَ وَلَا تَبْكُونَ
53:60
Or do you laugh, and do you not weep - Hasan al-Fatih Qaribullah and Ahmad Darwish (English)
53:61
وَأَنتُمْ سَـٰمِدُونَ
53:61
while you are thoughtless? - Hasan al-Fatih Qaribullah and Ahmad Darwish (English)
53:62
فَٱسْجُدُوا۟ لِلَّهِ وَٱعْبُدُوا۟ ۩
53:62
Rather, prostrate to Allah and worship Him. - Hasan al-Fatih Qaribullah and Ahmad Darwish (English)
