بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.
69:1
ٱلْحَآقَّةُ
69:1

مَا ٱلْحَآقَّةُ
69:2
What is the Inevitable Calamity? - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
69:3
وَمَآ أَدْرَىٰكَ مَا ٱلْحَآقَّةُ
69:3
And what shall make thee know that which the Inevitable Calamity is. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
69:4
كَذَّبَتْ ثَمُودُ وَعَادٌۢ بِٱلْقَارِعَةِ
69:4
The tribes of Thamud and 'Aad belied the Striking Day. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
69:5
فَأَمَّا ثَمُودُ فَأُهْلِكُوا۟ بِٱلطَّاغِيَةِ
69:5
As for Thamud, they were destroyed by the outburst. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
69:6
وَأَمَّا عَادٌ فَأُهْلِكُوا۟ بِرِيحٍ صَرْصَرٍ عَاتِيَةٍ
69:6
And as for 'Aad they were destroyed by a wind, furious. roaring. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
69:7
سَخَّرَهَا عَلَيْهِمْ سَبْعَ لَيَالٍ وَثَمَـٰنِيَةَ أَيَّامٍ حُسُومًا فَتَرَى ٱلْقَوْمَ فِيهَا صَرْعَىٰ كَأَنَّهُمْ أَعْجَازُ نَخْلٍ خَاوِيَةٍ
69:7
To which He subjected them for seven nights and eight days in succession, so that thou mightest have seen men during it lying prostrate, as though they were stumps of palms ruined. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)

فَهَلْ تَرَىٰ لَهُم مِّنۢ بَاقِيَةٍ
69:8
Beholdest thou any of them remaining? - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
69:9
وَجَآءَ فِرْعَوْنُ وَمَن قَبْلَهُۥ وَٱلْمُؤْتَفِكَـٰتُ بِٱلْخَاطِئَةِ
69:9
And Fir'awn and those before him and the overturned cities committed sin. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
69:10
فَعَصَوْا۟ رَسُولَ رَبِّهِمْ فَأَخَذَهُمْ أَخْذَةً رَّابِيَةً
69:10
And they disobeyed their Lord's apostle, so He laid hold of them with a grip increasing. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
69:11
إِنَّا لَمَّا طَغَا ٱلْمَآءُ حَمَلْنَـٰكُمْ فِى ٱلْجَارِيَةِ
69:11
Verily We! when the water rose, We bare you upon the traversing ark. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
69:12
لِنَجْعَلَهَا لَكُمْ تَذْكِرَةً وَتَعِيَهَآ أُذُنٌ وَٰعِيَةٌ
69:12
That We might make it Unto you an admonition, and thot it might be retained by the retaining ears. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
69:13
فَإِذَا نُفِخَ فِى ٱلصُّورِ نَفْخَةٌ وَٰحِدَةٌ
69:13
And when the Trumpet shall sound a single blast. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
69:14
وَحُمِلَتِ ٱلْأَرْضُ وَٱلْجِبَالُ فَدُكَّتَا دَكَّةً وَٰحِدَةً
69:14
And the earth and the mountains shall be borne and the twain shall be crushed with a single crash. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
69:15
فَيَوْمَئِذٍ وَقَعَتِ ٱلْوَاقِعَةُ
69:15
Then on that Day shall happen the Event. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
69:16
وَٱنشَقَّتِ ٱلسَّمَآءُ فَهِىَ يَوْمَئِذٍ وَاهِيَةٌ
69:16
And the heaven shall be rent in sunder, it on that Day shall be frail. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
69:17
وَٱلْمَلَكُ عَلَىٰٓ أَرْجَآئِهَا ۚ وَيَحْمِلُ عَرْشَ رَبِّكَ فَوْقَهُمْ يَوْمَئِذٍ ثَمَـٰنِيَةٌ
69:17
And the angels shall be on the borders thereof; and on that Day eight shall bear over them the Throne of thy Lord. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
69:18
يَوْمَئِذٍ تُعْرَضُونَ لَا تَخْفَىٰ مِنكُمْ خَافِيَةٌ
69:18
The Day whereon ye shall be mustered nothing hidden by you shall be hidden. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
69:19
فَأَمَّا مَنْ أُوتِىَ كِتَـٰبَهُۥ بِيَمِينِهِۦ فَيَقُولُ هَآؤُمُ ٱقْرَءُوا۟ كِتَـٰبِيَهْ
69:19
Then as to him who will be vouchsafed his book in his right hand, he shall say: here! read my book! - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
69:20
إِنِّى ظَنَنتُ أَنِّى مُلَـٰقٍ حِسَابِيَهْ
69:20
Verily I was sure that I should be a meeter of my reckoning. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
69:21
فَهُوَ فِى عِيشَةٍ رَّاضِيَةٍ
69:21
Then he shall be in a life well-pleasing - - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
69:22
فِى جَنَّةٍ عَالِيَةٍ
69:22
In a Garden lofty. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
69:23
قُطُوفُهَا دَانِيَةٌ
69:23
Clusters whereof shall be near at hand. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
69:24
كُلُوا۟ وَٱشْرَبُوا۟ هَنِيٓـًٔۢا بِمَآ أَسْلَفْتُمْ فِى ٱلْأَيَّامِ ٱلْخَالِيَةِ
69:24
Eat and drink with benefit for that which ye sent on beforehand in dayspast. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
69:25
وَأَمَّا مَنْ أُوتِىَ كِتَـٰبَهُۥ بِشِمَالِهِۦ فَيَقُولُ يَـٰلَيْتَنِى لَمْ أُوتَ كِتَـٰبِيَهْ
69:25
Then as to him who shall be vouchsafed his book in his left hand, he shall say: Oh! would that I had not been vouchsafed my book. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
69:26
وَلَمْ أَدْرِ مَا حِسَابِيَهْ
69:26
Nor known whatever was my reckoning! - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
69:27
يَـٰلَيْتَهَا كَانَتِ ٱلْقَاضِيَةَ
69:27
Oh, would that it had been the ending! - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
69:28
مَآ أَغْنَىٰ عَنِّى مَالِيَهْ ۜ
69:28
My riches have: availed me not; - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
69:29
هَلَكَ عَنِّى سُلْطَـٰنِيَهْ
69:29
There hath perished from me my authority. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
69:30
خُذُوهُ فَغُلُّوهُ
69:30
Lay hold of him and chain him; - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
69:31
ثُمَّ ٱلْجَحِيمَ صَلُّوهُ
69:31
Then in the Scorch roast him - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
69:32
ثُمَّ فِى سِلْسِلَةٍ ذَرْعُهَا سَبْعُونَ ذِرَاعًا فَٱسْلُكُوهُ
69:32
Then, in a chain whereof the length is seventy Cubits, bind him. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
69:33
إِنَّهُۥ كَانَ لَا يُؤْمِنُ بِٱللَّهِ ٱلْعَظِيمِ
69:33
Verily he was wont not to believe in Allah, the Mighty. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
69:34
وَلَا يَحُضُّ عَلَىٰ طَعَامِ ٱلْمِسْكِينِ
69:34
Nor he urged on others the feeding of the poor. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
69:35
فَلَيْسَ لَهُ ٱلْيَوْمَ هَـٰهُنَا حَمِيمٌ
69:35
Wherefore for him here this Day there is no friend. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
69:36
وَلَا طَعَامٌ إِلَّا مِنْ غِسْلِينٍ
69:36
Nor any food save filthy corruption. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
69:37
لَّا يَأْكُلُهُۥٓ إِلَّا ٱلْخَـٰطِـُٔونَ
69:37
None shall eat it but the sinners. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
69:38
فَلَآ أُقْسِمُ بِمَا تُبْصِرُونَ
69:38
I swear by that which ye see. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
69:39
وَمَا لَا تُبْصِرُونَ
69:39
And that which ye see not. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
69:40
إِنَّهُۥ لَقَوْلُ رَسُولٍ كَرِيمٍ
69:40
That it is surely the speech brought by messenger honourable. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
69:41
وَمَا هُوَ بِقَوْلِ شَاعِرٍ ۚ قَلِيلًا مَّا تُؤْمِنُونَ
69:41
And it is not the speech of a poet. Little it is that ye believe - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
69:42
وَلَا بِقَوْلِ كَاهِنٍ ۚ قَلِيلًا مَّا تَذَكَّرُونَ
69:42
Nor is it the speech of a sooth- sayer. Little are ye admonished. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
69:43
تَنزِيلٌ مِّن رَّبِّ ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ
69:43
It is a Revelation from the Lord of the worlds. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
69:44
وَلَوْ تَقَوَّلَ عَلَيْنَا بَعْضَ ٱلْأَقَاوِيلِ
69:44
And if he had forged concerning us some discourses. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
69:45
لَأَخَذْنَا مِنْهُ بِٱلْيَمِينِ
69:45
We surely had lain hold of him by the right hand. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
69:46
ثُمَّ لَقَطَعْنَا مِنْهُ ٱلْوَتِينَ
69:46
And then severed his life-vein. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
69:47
فَمَا مِنكُم مِّنْ أَحَدٍ عَنْهُ حَـٰجِزِينَ
69:47
And not one of you would have withheld us from punishing him. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
69:48
وَإِنَّهُۥ لَتَذْكِرَةٌ لِّلْمُتَّقِينَ
69:48
And verily it is an Admonition Unto the God-fearing. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
69:49
وَإِنَّا لَنَعْلَمُ أَنَّ مِنكُم مُّكَذِّبِينَ
69:49
And verily We! We know that some among you are beliers thereof. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
69:50
وَإِنَّهُۥ لَحَسْرَةٌ عَلَى ٱلْكَـٰفِرِينَ
69:50
And verily it shall be an occasion of anguish Unto the infidels. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
69:51
وَإِنَّهُۥ لَحَقُّ ٱلْيَقِينِ
69:51
And verily it is the truth of assured certainty. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
69:52
فَسَبِّحْ بِٱسْمِ رَبِّكَ ٱلْعَظِيمِ
69:52
Wherefore hallow thou the name of thy Lord, the Mighty. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
