69:1
ٱلْحَآقَّةُ
69:1

مَا ٱلْحَآقَّةُ
69:2
What is the Sure Reality? - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
69:3
وَمَآ أَدْرَىٰكَ مَا ٱلْحَآقَّةُ
69:3
And what will make thee realise what the Sure Reality is? - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
69:4
كَذَّبَتْ ثَمُودُ وَعَادٌۢ بِٱلْقَارِعَةِ
69:4
The Thamud and the 'Ad People (branded) as false the Stunning Calamity! - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
69:5
فَأَمَّا ثَمُودُ فَأُهْلِكُوا۟ بِٱلطَّاغِيَةِ
69:5
But the Thamud,- they were destroyed by a terrible Storm of thunder and lightning! - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
69:6
وَأَمَّا عَادٌ فَأُهْلِكُوا۟ بِرِيحٍ صَرْصَرٍ عَاتِيَةٍ
69:6
And the 'Ad, they were destroyed by a furious Wind, exceedingly violent; - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
69:7
سَخَّرَهَا عَلَيْهِمْ سَبْعَ لَيَالٍ وَثَمَـٰنِيَةَ أَيَّامٍ حُسُومًا فَتَرَى ٱلْقَوْمَ فِيهَا صَرْعَىٰ كَأَنَّهُمْ أَعْجَازُ نَخْلٍ خَاوِيَةٍ
69:7
He made it rage against them seven nights and eight days in succession: so that thou couldst see the (whole) people lying prostrate in its (path), as they had been roots of hollow palm-trees tumbled down! - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
69:8
فَهَلْ تَرَىٰ لَهُم مِّنۢ بَاقِيَةٍ
69:8
Then seest thou any of them left surviving? - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
69:9
وَجَآءَ فِرْعَوْنُ وَمَن قَبْلَهُۥ وَٱلْمُؤْتَفِكَـٰتُ بِٱلْخَاطِئَةِ
69:9
And Pharaoh, and those before him, and the Cities Overthrown, committed habitual Sin. - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
69:10
فَعَصَوْا۟ رَسُولَ رَبِّهِمْ فَأَخَذَهُمْ أَخْذَةً رَّابِيَةً
69:10
And disobeyed (each) the messenger of their Lord; so He punished them with an abundant Penalty. - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
69:11
إِنَّا لَمَّا طَغَا ٱلْمَآءُ حَمَلْنَـٰكُمْ فِى ٱلْجَارِيَةِ
69:11
We, when the water (of Noah's Flood) overflowed beyond its limits, carried you (mankind), in the floating (Ark), - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
69:12
لِنَجْعَلَهَا لَكُمْ تَذْكِرَةً وَتَعِيَهَآ أُذُنٌ وَٰعِيَةٌ
69:12
That We might make it a Message unto you, and that ears (that should hear the tale and) retain its memory should bear its (lessons) in remembrance. - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
69:13
فَإِذَا نُفِخَ فِى ٱلصُّورِ نَفْخَةٌ وَٰحِدَةٌ
69:13
Then, when one blast is sounded on the Trumpet, - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
69:14
وَحُمِلَتِ ٱلْأَرْضُ وَٱلْجِبَالُ فَدُكَّتَا دَكَّةً وَٰحِدَةً
69:14
And the earth is moved, and its mountains, and they are crushed to powder at one stroke,- - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
69:15
فَيَوْمَئِذٍ وَقَعَتِ ٱلْوَاقِعَةُ
69:15
On that Day shall the (Great) Event come to pass. - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
69:16
وَٱنشَقَّتِ ٱلسَّمَآءُ فَهِىَ يَوْمَئِذٍ وَاهِيَةٌ
69:16
And the sky will be rent asunder, for it will that Day be flimsy, - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
69:17
وَٱلْمَلَكُ عَلَىٰٓ أَرْجَآئِهَا ۚ وَيَحْمِلُ عَرْشَ رَبِّكَ فَوْقَهُمْ يَوْمَئِذٍ ثَمَـٰنِيَةٌ
69:17
And the angels will be on its sides, and eight will, that Day, bear the Throne of thy Lord above them. - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
69:18
يَوْمَئِذٍ تُعْرَضُونَ لَا تَخْفَىٰ مِنكُمْ خَافِيَةٌ
69:18
That Day shall ye be brought to Judgment: not an act of yours that ye hide will be hidden. - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
69:19
فَأَمَّا مَنْ أُوتِىَ كِتَـٰبَهُۥ بِيَمِينِهِۦ فَيَقُولُ هَآؤُمُ ٱقْرَءُوا۟ كِتَـٰبِيَهْ
69:19
Then he that will be given his Record in his right hand will say: "Ah here! Read ye my Record! - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
69:20
إِنِّى ظَنَنتُ أَنِّى مُلَـٰقٍ حِسَابِيَهْ
69:20
"I did really understand that my Account would (One Day) reach me!" - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
69:21
فَهُوَ فِى عِيشَةٍ رَّاضِيَةٍ
69:21
And he will be in a life of Bliss, - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
69:22
فِى جَنَّةٍ عَالِيَةٍ
69:22
In a Garden on high, - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
69:23
قُطُوفُهَا دَانِيَةٌ
69:23
The Fruits whereof (will hang in bunches) low and near. - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
69:24
كُلُوا۟ وَٱشْرَبُوا۟ هَنِيٓـًٔۢا بِمَآ أَسْلَفْتُمْ فِى ٱلْأَيَّامِ ٱلْخَالِيَةِ
69:24
"Eat ye and drink ye, with full satisfaction; because of the (good) that ye sent before you, in the days that are gone!" - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
69:25
وَأَمَّا مَنْ أُوتِىَ كِتَـٰبَهُۥ بِشِمَالِهِۦ فَيَقُولُ يَـٰلَيْتَنِى لَمْ أُوتَ كِتَـٰبِيَهْ
69:25
And he that will be given his Record in his left hand, will say: "Ah! Would that my Record had not been given to me! - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
69:26
وَلَمْ أَدْرِ مَا حِسَابِيَهْ
69:26
"And that I had never realised how my account (stood)! - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
69:27
يَـٰلَيْتَهَا كَانَتِ ٱلْقَاضِيَةَ
69:27
"Ah! Would that (Death) had made an end of me! - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
69:28
مَآ أَغْنَىٰ عَنِّى مَالِيَهْ ۜ
69:28
"Of no profit to me has been my wealth! - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
69:29
هَلَكَ عَنِّى سُلْطَـٰنِيَهْ
69:29
"My power has perished from me!"... - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
69:30
خُذُوهُ فَغُلُّوهُ
69:30
(The stern command will say): "Seize ye him, and bind ye him, - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
69:31
ثُمَّ ٱلْجَحِيمَ صَلُّوهُ
69:31
"And burn ye him in the Blazing Fire. - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
69:32
ثُمَّ فِى سِلْسِلَةٍ ذَرْعُهَا سَبْعُونَ ذِرَاعًا فَٱسْلُكُوهُ
69:32
"Further, make him march in a chain, whereof the length is seventy cubits! - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
69:33
إِنَّهُۥ كَانَ لَا يُؤْمِنُ بِٱللَّهِ ٱلْعَظِيمِ
69:33
"This was he that would not believe in Allah Most High. - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
69:34
وَلَا يَحُضُّ عَلَىٰ طَعَامِ ٱلْمِسْكِينِ
69:34
"And would not encourage the feeding of the indigent! - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
69:35
فَلَيْسَ لَهُ ٱلْيَوْمَ هَـٰهُنَا حَمِيمٌ
69:35
"So no friend hath he here this Day. - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
69:36
وَلَا طَعَامٌ إِلَّا مِنْ غِسْلِينٍ
69:36
"Nor hath he any food except the corruption from the washing of wounds, - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
69:37
لَّا يَأْكُلُهُۥٓ إِلَّا ٱلْخَـٰطِـُٔونَ
69:37
"Which none do eat but those in sin." - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
69:38
فَلَآ أُقْسِمُ بِمَا تُبْصِرُونَ
69:38
So I do call to witness what ye see, - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
69:39
وَمَا لَا تُبْصِرُونَ
69:39
And what ye see not, - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
69:40
إِنَّهُۥ لَقَوْلُ رَسُولٍ كَرِيمٍ
69:40
That this is verily the word of an honoured messenger; - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
69:41
وَمَا هُوَ بِقَوْلِ شَاعِرٍ ۚ قَلِيلًا مَّا تُؤْمِنُونَ
69:41
It is not the word of a poet: little it is ye believe! - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
69:42
وَلَا بِقَوْلِ كَاهِنٍ ۚ قَلِيلًا مَّا تَذَكَّرُونَ
69:42
Nor is it the word of a soothsayer: little admonition it is ye receive. - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
69:43
تَنزِيلٌ مِّن رَّبِّ ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ
69:43
(This is) a Message sent down from the Lord of the Worlds. - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
69:44
وَلَوْ تَقَوَّلَ عَلَيْنَا بَعْضَ ٱلْأَقَاوِيلِ
69:44
And if the messenger were to invent any sayings in Our name, - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
69:45
لَأَخَذْنَا مِنْهُ بِٱلْيَمِينِ
69:45
We should certainly seize him by his right hand, - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
69:46
ثُمَّ لَقَطَعْنَا مِنْهُ ٱلْوَتِينَ
69:46
And We should certainly then cut off the artery of his heart: - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
69:47
فَمَا مِنكُم مِّنْ أَحَدٍ عَنْهُ حَـٰجِزِينَ
69:47
Nor could any of you withhold him (from Our wrath). - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
69:48
وَإِنَّهُۥ لَتَذْكِرَةٌ لِّلْمُتَّقِينَ
69:48
But verily this is a Message for the Allah-fearing. - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
69:49
وَإِنَّا لَنَعْلَمُ أَنَّ مِنكُم مُّكَذِّبِينَ
69:49
And We certainly know that there are amongst you those that reject (it). - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
69:50
وَإِنَّهُۥ لَحَسْرَةٌ عَلَى ٱلْكَـٰفِرِينَ
69:50
But truly (Revelation) is a cause of sorrow for the Unbelievers. - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
69:51
وَإِنَّهُۥ لَحَقُّ ٱلْيَقِينِ
69:51
But verily it is Truth of assured certainty. - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
69:52
فَسَبِّحْ بِٱسْمِ رَبِّكَ ٱلْعَظِيمِ
69:52
So glorify the name of thy Lord Most High. - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
