بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.
87:1
سَبِّحِ ٱسْمَ رَبِّكَ ٱلْأَعْلَى
87:1
Magnify the Name of thy Lord the Most High - A. J. Arberry (English)

ٱلَّذِى خَلَقَ فَسَوَّىٰ
87:2
who created and shaped, - A. J. Arberry (English)
87:3
وَٱلَّذِى قَدَّرَ فَهَدَىٰ
87:3
who determined and guided, - A. J. Arberry (English)
87:4
وَٱلَّذِىٓ أَخْرَجَ ٱلْمَرْعَىٰ
87:4
who brought forth the pasturage - A. J. Arberry (English)
87:5
فَجَعَلَهُۥ غُثَآءً أَحْوَىٰ
87:5
then made it a blackening wrack. - A. J. Arberry (English)
87:6
سَنُقْرِئُكَ فَلَا تَنسَىٰٓ
87:6
We shall make thee recite, to forget not - A. J. Arberry (English)
87:7
إِلَّا مَا شَآءَ ٱللَّهُ ۚ إِنَّهُۥ يَعْلَمُ ٱلْجَهْرَ وَمَا يَخْفَىٰ
87:7
save what God wills; surely He knows what is spoken aloud and what is hidden. - A. J. Arberry (English)
87:8
وَنُيَسِّرُكَ لِلْيُسْرَىٰ
87:8
We shall ease thee unto the Easing. - A. J. Arberry (English)
87:9
فَذَكِّرْ إِن نَّفَعَتِ ٱلذِّكْرَىٰ
87:9
Therefore remind, if the Reminder profits, - A. J. Arberry (English)
87:10
سَيَذَّكَّرُ مَن يَخْشَىٰ
87:10
and he who fears shall remember, - A. J. Arberry (English)
87:11
وَيَتَجَنَّبُهَا ٱلْأَشْقَى
87:11
but the most wretched shall flout it, - A. J. Arberry (English)
87:12
ٱلَّذِى يَصْلَى ٱلنَّارَ ٱلْكُبْرَىٰ
87:12
even he who shall roast in the Great Fire, - A. J. Arberry (English)
87:13
ثُمَّ لَا يَمُوتُ فِيهَا وَلَا يَحْيَىٰ
87:13
then he shall neither die therein, nor live. - A. J. Arberry (English)
87:14
قَدْ أَفْلَحَ مَن تَزَكَّىٰ
87:14
Prosperous is he who has cleansed himself, - A. J. Arberry (English)
87:15
وَذَكَرَ ٱسْمَ رَبِّهِۦ فَصَلَّىٰ
87:15
and mentions the Name of his Lord, and prays. - A. J. Arberry (English)
87:16
بَلْ تُؤْثِرُونَ ٱلْحَيَوٰةَ ٱلدُّنْيَا
87:16
Nay, but you prefer the present life; - A. J. Arberry (English)
87:17
وَٱلْـَٔاخِرَةُ خَيْرٌ وَأَبْقَىٰٓ
87:17
and the world to come is better, and more enduring. - A. J. Arberry (English)
87:18
إِنَّ هَـٰذَا لَفِى ٱلصُّحُفِ ٱلْأُولَىٰ
87:18
Surely this is in the ancient scrolls, - A. J. Arberry (English)
87:19
صُحُفِ إِبْرَٰهِيمَ وَمُوسَىٰ
87:19
the scrolls of Abraham and Moses. - A. J. Arberry (English)
