Transliteration
Wahiduddin Khan
                    بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ
                
                
                    In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.
                
            
                    70:1
                    سَأَلَ سَآئِلٌۢ بِعَذَابٍ وَاقِعٍ
                
                
                
                
                
                    70:1
                    A caller supplicated about a punishment to fall on  - Hasan al-Fatih Qaribullah and Ahmad Darwish (English)
                
                
                
                
                
                    70:2
                    لِّلْكَـٰفِرِينَ لَيْسَ لَهُۥ دَافِعٌ
                
                
                
                
                
                    70:2
                    the unbelievers which none can prevent.  - Hasan al-Fatih Qaribullah and Ahmad Darwish (English)
                
                
                
                
                
                    70:3
                    مِّنَ ٱللَّهِ ذِى ٱلْمَعَارِجِ
                
                
                
                
                
                    70:3
                    (A punishment) from Allah, the Owner of the Elevated Passages.  - Hasan al-Fatih Qaribullah and Ahmad Darwish (English)
                
                
                
                
                
                    70:4
                    تَعْرُجُ ٱلْمَلَـٰٓئِكَةُ وَٱلرُّوحُ إِلَيْهِ فِى يَوْمٍ كَانَ مِقْدَارُهُۥ خَمْسِينَ أَلْفَ سَنَةٍ
                
                
                
                
                
                    70:4
                    To Him the angels and the Spirit (Gabriel) ascend in a day, the measure of which is fifty thousand years.  - Hasan al-Fatih Qaribullah and Ahmad Darwish (English)
                
                
                
                
                
                    70:5
                    فَٱصْبِرْ صَبْرًا جَمِيلًا
                
                
                
                
                
                    70:5
                    Therefore be patient, with a beautiful patience;  - Hasan al-Fatih Qaribullah and Ahmad Darwish (English)
                
                
                
                
                
                    70:6
                    إِنَّهُمْ يَرَوْنَهُۥ بَعِيدًا
                
                
                
                
                
                    70:6
                    they see it as being far off;  - Hasan al-Fatih Qaribullah and Ahmad Darwish (English)
                
                
                
                
                
                    70:7
                    وَنَرَىٰهُ قَرِيبًا
                
                
                
                
                
                    70:7
                    but We see it near.  - Hasan al-Fatih Qaribullah and Ahmad Darwish (English)
                
                
                
                
                
                    70:8
                    يَوْمَ تَكُونُ ٱلسَّمَآءُ كَٱلْمُهْلِ
                
                
                
                
                
                    70:8
                    On that Day the heaven shall become like molten copper,  - Hasan al-Fatih Qaribullah and Ahmad Darwish (English)
                
                
                
                
                
                    70:9
                    وَتَكُونُ ٱلْجِبَالُ كَٱلْعِهْنِ
                
                
                
                
                
                    70:9
                    and the mountains shall be like puffs of wool.  - Hasan al-Fatih Qaribullah and Ahmad Darwish (English)
                
                
                
                
                
                    70:10
                    وَلَا يَسْـَٔلُ حَمِيمٌ حَمِيمًا
                
                
                
                
                
                    70:10
                    No loyal friend will ask another loyal friend  - Hasan al-Fatih Qaribullah and Ahmad Darwish (English)
                
                
                
                
                
                    70:11
                    يُبَصَّرُونَهُمْ ۚ يَوَدُّ ٱلْمُجْرِمُ لَوْ يَفْتَدِى مِنْ عَذَابِ يَوْمِئِذٍۭ بِبَنِيهِ
                
                
                
                
                
                    70:11
                    though they are in sight of each other. To ransom himself from the punishment of that Day, the sinner will wish that he might even ransom himself by his sons,  - Hasan al-Fatih Qaribullah and Ahmad Darwish (English)
                
                
                
                
                
                    70:12
                    وَصَـٰحِبَتِهِۦ وَأَخِيهِ
                
                
                
                
                
                    70:12
                    his companion (wife), his brother,  - Hasan al-Fatih Qaribullah and Ahmad Darwish (English)
                
                
                
                
                
                    70:13
                    وَفَصِيلَتِهِ ٱلَّتِى تُـْٔوِيهِ
                
                
                
                
                
                    70:13
                    the kinsmen who gave him shelter,  - Hasan al-Fatih Qaribullah and Ahmad Darwish (English)
                
                
                
                
                
                    70:14
                    وَمَن فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ جَمِيعًا ثُمَّ يُنجِيهِ
                
                
                
                
                
                    70:14
                    and whosoever is in the earth, altogether, so that it might save him.  - Hasan al-Fatih Qaribullah and Ahmad Darwish (English)
                
                
                
                
                
                    70:15
                    كَلَّآ ۖ إِنَّهَا لَظَىٰ
                
                
                
                
                
                    70:15
                    No, in truth, it is a Furnace!  - Hasan al-Fatih Qaribullah and Ahmad Darwish (English)
                
                
                
                
                
                    70:16
                    نَزَّاعَةً لِّلشَّوَىٰ
                
                
                
                
                
                    70:16
                    It snatches away by the scalps,  - Hasan al-Fatih Qaribullah and Ahmad Darwish (English)
                
                
                
                
                
                    70:17
                    تَدْعُوا۟ مَنْ أَدْبَرَ وَتَوَلَّىٰ
                
                
                
                
                
                    70:17
                    and it shall call him who withdrew and turned his back  - Hasan al-Fatih Qaribullah and Ahmad Darwish (English)
                
                
                
                
                
                    70:18
                    وَجَمَعَ فَأَوْعَىٰٓ
                
                
                
                
                
                    70:18
                    and amassed (riches) and hoarded.  - Hasan al-Fatih Qaribullah and Ahmad Darwish (English)
                
                
                
                
                
                    70:19
                    ۞ إِنَّ ٱلْإِنسَـٰنَ خُلِقَ هَلُوعًا
                
                
                
                
                
                    70:19
                    Indeed, the human was created grudging and impatient.  - Hasan al-Fatih Qaribullah and Ahmad Darwish (English)
                
                
                
                
                
                    70:20
                    إِذَا مَسَّهُ ٱلشَّرُّ جَزُوعًا
                
                
                
                
                
                    70:20
                    When evil comes upon him he is impatient;  - Hasan al-Fatih Qaribullah and Ahmad Darwish (English)
                
                
                
                
                
                    70:21
                    وَإِذَا مَسَّهُ ٱلْخَيْرُ مَنُوعًا
                
                
                
                
                
                    70:21
                    but when good comes upon him, he is grudging  - Hasan al-Fatih Qaribullah and Ahmad Darwish (English)
                
                
                
                
                
                    70:22
                    إِلَّا ٱلْمُصَلِّينَ
                
                
                
                
                
                    70:22
                    except those that pray  - Hasan al-Fatih Qaribullah and Ahmad Darwish (English)
                
                
                
                
                
                    70:23
                    ٱلَّذِينَ هُمْ عَلَىٰ صَلَاتِهِمْ دَآئِمُونَ
                
                
                
                
                
                    70:23
                    who are constant in prayer;  - Hasan al-Fatih Qaribullah and Ahmad Darwish (English)
                
                
                
                
                
                    70:24
                    وَٱلَّذِينَ فِىٓ أَمْوَٰلِهِمْ حَقٌّ مَّعْلُومٌ
                
                
                
                
                
                    70:24
                    who, from their wealth is a known right  - Hasan al-Fatih Qaribullah and Ahmad Darwish (English)
                
                
                
                
                
                    70:25
                    لِّلسَّآئِلِ وَٱلْمَحْرُومِ
                
                
                
                
                
                    70:25
                    for the impoverished nonrequester and the requester,  - Hasan al-Fatih Qaribullah and Ahmad Darwish (English)
                
                
                
                
                
                    70:26
                    وَٱلَّذِينَ يُصَدِّقُونَ بِيَوْمِ ٱلدِّينِ
                
                
                
                
                
                    70:26
                    who confirm the Day of Reckoning  - Hasan al-Fatih Qaribullah and Ahmad Darwish (English)
                
                
                
                
                
                    70:27
                    وَٱلَّذِينَ هُم مِّنْ عَذَابِ رَبِّهِم مُّشْفِقُونَ
                
                
                
                
                
                    70:27
                    and go in fear of the punishment of their Lord,  - Hasan al-Fatih Qaribullah and Ahmad Darwish (English)
                
                
                
                
                
                    70:28
                    إِنَّ عَذَابَ رَبِّهِمْ غَيْرُ مَأْمُونٍ
                
                
                
                
                
                    70:28
                    for none is secure from the punishment of their Lord,  - Hasan al-Fatih Qaribullah and Ahmad Darwish (English)
                
                
                
                
                
                    70:29
                    وَٱلَّذِينَ هُمْ لِفُرُوجِهِمْ حَـٰفِظُونَ
                
                
                
                
                
                    70:29
                    who guard their privates  - Hasan al-Fatih Qaribullah and Ahmad Darwish (English)
                
                
                
                
                
                    70:30
                    إِلَّا عَلَىٰٓ أَزْوَٰجِهِمْ أَوْ مَا مَلَكَتْ أَيْمَـٰنُهُمْ فَإِنَّهُمْ غَيْرُ مَلُومِينَ
                
                
                
                
                
                    70:30
                    except from their wives and what their right hands own, for these they are not blameworthy.  - Hasan al-Fatih Qaribullah and Ahmad Darwish (English)
                
                
                
                
                
                    70:31
                    فَمَنِ ٱبْتَغَىٰ وَرَآءَ ذَٰلِكَ فَأُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ هُمُ ٱلْعَادُونَ
                
                
                
                
                
                    70:31
                    But whosoever seeks beyond that, they are the transgressors.  - Hasan al-Fatih Qaribullah and Ahmad Darwish (English)
                
                
                
                
                
                    70:32
                    وَٱلَّذِينَ هُمْ لِأَمَـٰنَـٰتِهِمْ وَعَهْدِهِمْ رَٰعُونَ
                
                
                
                
                
                    70:32
                    (Those) who keep their trusts and their covenant,  - Hasan al-Fatih Qaribullah and Ahmad Darwish (English)
                
                
                
                
                
                    70:33
                    وَٱلَّذِينَ هُم بِشَهَـٰدَٰتِهِمْ قَآئِمُونَ
                
                
                
                
                
                    70:33
                    and standby their witnessing,  - Hasan al-Fatih Qaribullah and Ahmad Darwish (English)
                
                
                
                
                
                    70:34
                    وَٱلَّذِينَ هُمْ عَلَىٰ صَلَاتِهِمْ يُحَافِظُونَ
                
                
                
                
                
                    70:34
                    and who are constant in their prayers.  - Hasan al-Fatih Qaribullah and Ahmad Darwish (English)
                
                
                
                
                
                    70:35
                    أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ فِى جَنَّـٰتٍ مُّكْرَمُونَ
                
                
                
                
                
                    70:35
                    Those are highly honored in the Gardens.  - Hasan al-Fatih Qaribullah and Ahmad Darwish (English)
                
                
                
                
                
                    70:36
                    فَمَالِ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ قِبَلَكَ مُهْطِعِينَ
                
                
                
                
                
                    70:36
                    But what is the matter with the unbelievers, that they strain their glances continuously towards them,  - Hasan al-Fatih Qaribullah and Ahmad Darwish (English)
                
                
                
                
                
                    70:37
                    عَنِ ٱلْيَمِينِ وَعَنِ ٱلشِّمَالِ عِزِينَ
                
                
                
                
                
                    70:37
                    on the right and on the left in groups?  - Hasan al-Fatih Qaribullah and Ahmad Darwish (English)
                
                
                
                
                
                    70:38
                    أَيَطْمَعُ كُلُّ ٱمْرِئٍ مِّنْهُمْ أَن يُدْخَلَ جَنَّةَ نَعِيمٍ
                
                
                
                
                
                    70:38
                    What, is every one of them eager to be admitted to the Garden of Bliss?  - Hasan al-Fatih Qaribullah and Ahmad Darwish (English)
                
                
                
                
                
                    70:39
                    كَلَّآ ۖ إِنَّا خَلَقْنَـٰهُم مِّمَّا يَعْلَمُونَ
                
                
                
                
                
                    70:39
                    Not at all, for We have created them of what they know.  - Hasan al-Fatih Qaribullah and Ahmad Darwish (English)
                
                
                
                
                
                    70:40
                    فَلَآ أُقْسِمُ بِرَبِّ ٱلْمَشَـٰرِقِ وَٱلْمَغَـٰرِبِ إِنَّا لَقَـٰدِرُونَ
                
                
                
                
                
                    70:40
                    No, I swear by the Lord of the Easts and the Wests that We have the ability  - Hasan al-Fatih Qaribullah and Ahmad Darwish (English)
                
                
                
                
                
                    70:41
                    عَلَىٰٓ أَن نُّبَدِّلَ خَيْرًا مِّنْهُمْ وَمَا نَحْنُ بِمَسْبُوقِينَ
                
                
                
                
                
                    70:41
                    to exchange them with others better than they; nothing can outstrip Us!  - Hasan al-Fatih Qaribullah and Ahmad Darwish (English)
                
                
                
                
                
                    70:42
                    فَذَرْهُمْ يَخُوضُوا۟ وَيَلْعَبُوا۟ حَتَّىٰ يُلَـٰقُوا۟ يَوْمَهُمُ ٱلَّذِى يُوعَدُونَ
                
                
                
                
                
                    70:42
                    So leave them alone to plunge and play, until they encounter the Day which they are promised;  - Hasan al-Fatih Qaribullah and Ahmad Darwish (English)
                
                
                
                
                
                    70:43
                    يَوْمَ يَخْرُجُونَ مِنَ ٱلْأَجْدَاثِ سِرَاعًا كَأَنَّهُمْ إِلَىٰ نُصُبٍ يُوفِضُونَ
                
                
                
                
                
                    70:43
                    the Day when they shall rush from their graves, as if they were hurrying to a raised flag,  - Hasan al-Fatih Qaribullah and Ahmad Darwish (English)
                
                
                
                
                
                    70:44
                    خَـٰشِعَةً أَبْصَـٰرُهُمْ تَرْهَقُهُمْ ذِلَّةٌ ۚ ذَٰلِكَ ٱلْيَوْمُ ٱلَّذِى كَانُوا۟ يُوعَدُونَ
                
                
                
                
                
                    70:44
                    their eyes are humbled and they are covered with humiliation. Such is the Day that they were promised.  - Hasan al-Fatih Qaribullah and Ahmad Darwish (English)
