بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.
87:1
سَبِّحِ ٱسْمَ رَبِّكَ ٱلْأَعْلَى
87:1
Glorify the name of your Lord, the Most High, - Abul Ala Maududi (English)
87:2
ٱلَّذِى خَلَقَ فَسَوَّىٰ
87:2
Who created all things and fashioned them in good proportion; - Abul Ala Maududi (English)
87:3
وَٱلَّذِى قَدَّرَ فَهَدَىٰ
87:3
Who determined and guided them, - Abul Ala Maududi (English)
87:4
وَٱلَّذِىٓ أَخْرَجَ ٱلْمَرْعَىٰ
87:4
Who brought forth the pasture, - Abul Ala Maududi (English)
87:5
فَجَعَلَهُۥ غُثَآءً أَحْوَىٰ
87:5
and then made it into a blackish straw. - Abul Ala Maududi (English)
87:6
سَنُقْرِئُكَ فَلَا تَنسَىٰٓ
87:6
We shall make you recite and then you will not forget, - Abul Ala Maududi (English)
87:7
إِلَّا مَا شَآءَ ٱللَّهُ ۚ إِنَّهُۥ يَعْلَمُ ٱلْجَهْرَ وَمَا يَخْفَىٰ
87:7
except what Allah should wish. He knows all that is manifest and all that is hidden. - Abul Ala Maududi (English)
87:8
وَنُيَسِّرُكَ لِلْيُسْرَىٰ
87:8
We shall ease you to follow the way of Ease. - Abul Ala Maududi (English)
87:9
فَذَكِّرْ إِن نَّفَعَتِ ٱلذِّكْرَىٰ
87:9
So render good counsel if good counsel will avail. - Abul Ala Maududi (English)
87:10
سَيَذَّكَّرُ مَن يَخْشَىٰ
87:10
He who fears (Allah) shall heed it, - Abul Ala Maududi (English)
87:11
وَيَتَجَنَّبُهَا ٱلْأَشْقَى
87:11
but the wretched will turn away from it. - Abul Ala Maududi (English)
87:12
ٱلَّذِى يَصْلَى ٱلنَّارَ ٱلْكُبْرَىٰ
87:12
He will be cast into the Great Fire. - Abul Ala Maududi (English)
87:13
ثُمَّ لَا يَمُوتُ فِيهَا وَلَا يَحْيَىٰ
87:13
Then he will neither die in it, nor live. - Abul Ala Maududi (English)
87:14
قَدْ أَفْلَحَ مَن تَزَكَّىٰ
87:14
He who purified himself shall prosper, - Abul Ala Maududi (English)
87:15
وَذَكَرَ ٱسْمَ رَبِّهِۦ فَصَلَّىٰ
87:15
remembering his Lord's name and praying. - Abul Ala Maududi (English)
87:16
بَلْ تُؤْثِرُونَ ٱلْحَيَوٰةَ ٱلدُّنْيَا
87:16
No; but you prefer the present life, - Abul Ala Maududi (English)
87:17
وَٱلْـَٔاخِرَةُ خَيْرٌ وَأَبْقَىٰٓ
87:17
whereas the Hereafter is better and more enduring. - Abul Ala Maududi (English)
87:18
إِنَّ هَـٰذَا لَفِى ٱلصُّحُفِ ٱلْأُولَىٰ
87:18
This, indeed, was in the ancient Scrolls, - Abul Ala Maududi (English)
87:19
صُحُفِ إِبْرَٰهِيمَ وَمُوسَىٰ
87:19
the Scrolls of Abraham and Moses. - Abul Ala Maududi (English)
