بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.
79:1
وَٱلنَّـٰزِعَـٰتِ غَرْقًا
79:1
By the (angels) who tear out (the souls of the wicked) with violence; - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
79:2
وَٱلنَّـٰشِطَـٰتِ نَشْطًا
79:2
By those who gently draw out (the souls of the blessed); - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
79:3
وَٱلسَّـٰبِحَـٰتِ سَبْحًا
79:3
And by those who glide along (on errands of mercy), - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
79:4
فَٱلسَّـٰبِقَـٰتِ سَبْقًا
79:4
Then press forward as in a race, - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
79:5
فَٱلْمُدَبِّرَٰتِ أَمْرًا
79:5
Then arrange to do (the Commands of their Lord), - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
79:6
يَوْمَ تَرْجُفُ ٱلرَّاجِفَةُ
79:6
One Day everything that can be in commotion will be in violent commotion, - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
79:7
تَتْبَعُهَا ٱلرَّادِفَةُ
79:7
Followed by oft-repeated (commotions): - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
79:8
قُلُوبٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ وَاجِفَةٌ
79:8
Hearts that Day will be in agitation; - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
79:9
أَبْصَـٰرُهَا خَـٰشِعَةٌ
79:9
Cast down will be (their owners') eyes. - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
79:10
يَقُولُونَ أَءِنَّا لَمَرْدُودُونَ فِى ٱلْحَافِرَةِ
79:10
They say (now): "What! shall we indeed be returned to (our) former state? - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
79:11
أَءِذَا كُنَّا عِظَـٰمًا نَّخِرَةً
79:11
"What! - when we shall have become rotten bones?" - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
79:12
قَالُوا۟ تِلْكَ إِذًا كَرَّةٌ خَاسِرَةٌ
79:12
They say: "It would, in that case, be a return with loss!" - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
79:13
فَإِنَّمَا هِىَ زَجْرَةٌ وَٰحِدَةٌ
79:13
But verily, it will be but a single (Compelling) Cry, - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
79:14
فَإِذَا هُم بِٱلسَّاهِرَةِ
79:14
When, behold, they will be in the (full) awakening (to Judgment). - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
79:15
هَلْ أَتَىٰكَ حَدِيثُ مُوسَىٰٓ
79:15
Has the story of Moses reached thee? - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
79:16
إِذْ نَادَىٰهُ رَبُّهُۥ بِٱلْوَادِ ٱلْمُقَدَّسِ طُوًى
79:16
Behold, thy Lord did call to him in the sacred valley of Tuwa:- - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
79:17
ٱذْهَبْ إِلَىٰ فِرْعَوْنَ إِنَّهُۥ طَغَىٰ
79:17
"Go thou to Pharaoh for he has indeed transgressed all bounds: - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
79:18
فَقُلْ هَل لَّكَ إِلَىٰٓ أَن تَزَكَّىٰ
79:18
"And say to him, 'Wouldst thou that thou shouldst be purified (from sin)?- - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
79:19
وَأَهْدِيَكَ إِلَىٰ رَبِّكَ فَتَخْشَىٰ
79:19
"'And that I guide thee to thy Lord, so thou shouldst fear Him?'" - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
79:20
فَأَرَىٰهُ ٱلْـَٔايَةَ ٱلْكُبْرَىٰ
79:20
Then did (Moses) show him the Great Sign. - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
79:21
فَكَذَّبَ وَعَصَىٰ
79:21
But (Pharaoh) rejected it and disobeyed (guidance); - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
79:22
ثُمَّ أَدْبَرَ يَسْعَىٰ
79:22
Further, he turned his back, striving hard (against Allah). - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
79:23
فَحَشَرَ فَنَادَىٰ
79:23
Then he collected (his men) and made a proclamation, - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
79:24
فَقَالَ أَنَا۠ رَبُّكُمُ ٱلْأَعْلَىٰ
79:24
Saying, "I am your Lord, Most High". - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
79:25
فَأَخَذَهُ ٱللَّهُ نَكَالَ ٱلْـَٔاخِرَةِ وَٱلْأُولَىٰٓ
79:25
But Allah did punish him, (and made an) example of him, - in the Hereafter, as in this life. - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
79:26
إِنَّ فِى ذَٰلِكَ لَعِبْرَةً لِّمَن يَخْشَىٰٓ
79:26
Verily in this is an instructive warning for whosoever feareth (Allah). - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
79:27
ءَأَنتُمْ أَشَدُّ خَلْقًا أَمِ ٱلسَّمَآءُ ۚ بَنَىٰهَا
79:27
What! Are ye the more difficult to create or the heaven (above)? (Allah) hath constructed it: - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
79:28
رَفَعَ سَمْكَهَا فَسَوَّىٰهَا
79:28
On high hath He raised its canopy, and He hath given it order and perfection. - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
79:29
وَأَغْطَشَ لَيْلَهَا وَأَخْرَجَ ضُحَىٰهَا
79:29
Its night doth He endow with darkness, and its splendour doth He bring out (with light). - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
79:30
وَٱلْأَرْضَ بَعْدَ ذَٰلِكَ دَحَىٰهَآ
79:30
And the earth, moreover, hath He extended (to a wide expanse); - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
79:31
أَخْرَجَ مِنْهَا مَآءَهَا وَمَرْعَىٰهَا
79:31
He draweth out therefrom its moisture and its pasture; - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
79:32
وَٱلْجِبَالَ أَرْسَىٰهَا
79:32
And the mountains hath He firmly fixed;- - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
79:33
مَتَـٰعًا لَّكُمْ وَلِأَنْعَـٰمِكُمْ
79:33
For use and convenience to you and your cattle. - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
79:34
فَإِذَا جَآءَتِ ٱلطَّآمَّةُ ٱلْكُبْرَىٰ
79:34
Therefore, when there comes the great, overwhelming (Event),- - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
79:35
يَوْمَ يَتَذَكَّرُ ٱلْإِنسَـٰنُ مَا سَعَىٰ
79:35
The Day when man shall remember (all) that he strove for, - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
79:36
وَبُرِّزَتِ ٱلْجَحِيمُ لِمَن يَرَىٰ
79:36
And Hell-Fire shall be placed in full view for (all) to see,- - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
79:37
فَأَمَّا مَن طَغَىٰ
79:37
Then, for such as had transgressed all bounds, - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
79:38
وَءَاثَرَ ٱلْحَيَوٰةَ ٱلدُّنْيَا
79:38
And had preferred the life of this world, - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
79:39
فَإِنَّ ٱلْجَحِيمَ هِىَ ٱلْمَأْوَىٰ
79:39
The Abode will be Hell-Fire; - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
79:40
وَأَمَّا مَنْ خَافَ مَقَامَ رَبِّهِۦ وَنَهَى ٱلنَّفْسَ عَنِ ٱلْهَوَىٰ
79:40
And for such as had entertained the fear of standing before their Lord's (tribunal) and had restrained (their) soul from lower desires, - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
79:41
فَإِنَّ ٱلْجَنَّةَ هِىَ ٱلْمَأْوَىٰ
79:41
Their abode will be the Garden. - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
79:42
يَسْـَٔلُونَكَ عَنِ ٱلسَّاعَةِ أَيَّانَ مُرْسَىٰهَا
79:42
They ask thee about the Hour,-'When will be its appointed time? - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
79:43
فِيمَ أَنتَ مِن ذِكْرَىٰهَآ
79:43
Wherein art thou (concerned) with the declaration thereof? - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
79:44
إِلَىٰ رَبِّكَ مُنتَهَىٰهَآ
79:44
With thy Lord in the Limit fixed therefor. - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
79:45
إِنَّمَآ أَنتَ مُنذِرُ مَن يَخْشَىٰهَا
79:45
Thou art but a Warner for such as fear it. - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
79:46
كَأَنَّهُمْ يَوْمَ يَرَوْنَهَا لَمْ يَلْبَثُوٓا۟ إِلَّا عَشِيَّةً أَوْ ضُحَىٰهَا
79:46
The Day they see it, (It will be) as if they had tarried but a single evening, or (at most till) the following morn! - Abdullah Yusuf Ali (English)
