Transliteration
Wahiduddin Khan
                    بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ
                
                
                    In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.
                
            
                    79:1
                    وَٱلنَّـٰزِعَـٰتِ غَرْقًا
                
                
                
                
                
                    79:1
                    By [the winds] that pluck out vehemently  - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
                
                
                
                
                
                    79:2
                    وَٱلنَّـٰشِطَـٰتِ نَشْطًا
                
                
                
                
                
                    79:2
                    and those that blow gently,  - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
                
                
                
                
                
                    79:3
                    وَٱلسَّـٰبِحَـٰتِ سَبْحًا
                
                
                
                
                
                    79:3
                    and by [the clouds] that swim serenely and  - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
                
                
                
                
                
                    79:4
                    فَٱلسَّـٰبِقَـٰتِ سَبْقًا
                
                
                
                
                
                    79:4
                    by those that outstrip them suddenly,  - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
                
                
                
                
                
                    79:5
                    فَٱلْمُدَبِّرَٰتِ أَمْرًا
                
                
                
                
                
                    79:5
                    and by those who regulate events.  - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
                
                
                
                
                
                    79:6
                    يَوْمَ تَرْجُفُ ٱلرَّاجِفَةُ
                
                
                
                
                
                    79:6
                    On the Day when a violent convulsion will convulse [the world],  - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
                
                
                
                
                
                    79:7
                    تَتْبَعُهَا ٱلرَّادِفَةُ
                
                
                
                
                
                    79:7
                    to be followed by further [convulsions],  - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
                
                
                
                
                
                    79:8
                    قُلُوبٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ وَاجِفَةٌ
                
                
                
                
                
                    79:8
                    hearts will be throbbing,  - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
                
                
                
                
                
                    79:9
                    أَبْصَـٰرُهَا خَـٰشِعَةٌ
                
                
                
                
                
                    79:9
                    while eyes will be downcast.  - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
                
                
                
                
                
                    79:10
                    يَقُولُونَ أَءِنَّا لَمَرْدُودُونَ فِى ٱلْحَافِرَةِ
                
                
                
                
                
                    79:10
                    They say, "What? shall we be brought back to life,  - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
                
                
                
                
                
                    79:11
                    أَءِذَا كُنَّا عِظَـٰمًا نَّخِرَةً
                
                
                
                
                
                    79:11
                    even after we have turned into decayed bones?"  - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
                
                
                
                
                
                    79:12
                    قَالُوا۟ تِلْكَ إِذًا كَرَّةٌ خَاسِرَةٌ
                
                
                
                
                
                    79:12
                    and they say, "That indeed would be a losing return."  - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
                
                
                
                
                
                    79:13
                    فَإِنَّمَا هِىَ زَجْرَةٌ وَٰحِدَةٌ
                
                
                
                
                
                    79:13
                    But all it will take is a single blast,  - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
                
                
                
                
                
                    79:14
                    فَإِذَا هُم بِٱلسَّاهِرَةِ
                
                
                
                
                
                    79:14
                    and behold! They will all come out in the open.  - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
                
                
                
                
                
                    79:15
                    هَلْ أَتَىٰكَ حَدِيثُ مُوسَىٰٓ
                
                
                
                
                
                    79:15
                    Have you heard the story of Moses?  - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
                
                
                
                
                
                    79:16
                    إِذْ نَادَىٰهُ رَبُّهُۥ بِٱلْوَادِ ٱلْمُقَدَّسِ طُوًى
                
                
                
                
                
                    79:16
                    His Lord called out to him by the sacred valley of Tuwa:  - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
                
                
                
                
                
                    79:17
                    ٱذْهَبْ إِلَىٰ فِرْعَوْنَ إِنَّهُۥ طَغَىٰ
                
                
                
                
                
                    79:17
                    [saying], "Go to Pharaoh, he has exceeded all bounds,  - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
                
                
                
                
                
                    79:18
                    فَقُلْ هَل لَّكَ إِلَىٰٓ أَن تَزَكَّىٰ
                
                
                
                
                
                    79:18
                    and say, 'Will you reform yourself?  - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
                
                
                
                
                
                    79:19
                    وَأَهْدِيَكَ إِلَىٰ رَبِّكَ فَتَخْشَىٰ
                
                
                
                
                
                    79:19
                    Do you want me to guide you to your Lord, so that you should fear Him?'"  - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
                
                
                
                
                
                    79:20
                    فَأَرَىٰهُ ٱلْـَٔايَةَ ٱلْكُبْرَىٰ
                
                
                
                
                
                    79:20
                    Moses showed him the great sign,  - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
                
                
                
                
                
                    79:21
                    فَكَذَّبَ وَعَصَىٰ
                
                
                
                
                
                    79:21
                    but he denied it and refused [the faith].  - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
                
                
                
                
                
                    79:22
                    ثُمَّ أَدْبَرَ يَسْعَىٰ
                
                
                
                
                
                    79:22
                    Then he quickly turned his back.  - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
                
                
                
                
                
                    79:23
                    فَحَشَرَ فَنَادَىٰ
                
                
                
                
                
                    79:23
                    And he summoned all his people,  - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
                
                
                
                
                
                    79:24
                    فَقَالَ أَنَا۠ رَبُّكُمُ ٱلْأَعْلَىٰ
                
                
                
                
                
                    79:24
                    and proclaimed, "I am your supreme Lord,"  - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
                
                
                
                
                
                    79:25
                    فَأَخَذَهُ ٱللَّهُ نَكَالَ ٱلْـَٔاخِرَةِ وَٱلْأُولَىٰٓ
                
                
                
                
                
                    79:25
                    but God seized him and meted out to him the chastisement of both the next world and the present:  - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
                
                
                
                
                
                    79:26
                    إِنَّ فِى ذَٰلِكَ لَعِبْرَةً لِّمَن يَخْشَىٰٓ
                
                
                
                
                
                    79:26
                    surely there is in this a lesson for the God-fearing.  - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
                
                
                
                
                
                    79:27
                    ءَأَنتُمْ أَشَدُّ خَلْقًا أَمِ ٱلسَّمَآءُ ۚ بَنَىٰهَا
                
                
                
                
                
                    79:27
                    [O Men!] Are you more difficult to create than the heaven which He has built,  - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
                
                
                
                
                
                    79:28
                    رَفَعَ سَمْكَهَا فَسَوَّىٰهَا
                
                
                
                
                
                    79:28
                    by raising its vault high and fashioning it flawlessly,  - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
                
                
                
                
                
                    79:29
                    وَأَغْطَشَ لَيْلَهَا وَأَخْرَجَ ضُحَىٰهَا
                
                
                
                
                
                    79:29
                    and making its night dark and bringing forth its morning light,  - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
                
                
                
                
                
                    79:30
                    وَٱلْأَرْضَ بَعْدَ ذَٰلِكَ دَحَىٰهَآ
                
                
                
                
                
                    79:30
                    and the earth which He spread out,  - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
                
                
                
                
                
                    79:31
                    أَخْرَجَ مِنْهَا مَآءَهَا وَمَرْعَىٰهَا
                
                
                
                
                
                    79:31
                    after that bringing forth from it its water and its pasture land,  - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
                
                
                
                
                
                    79:32
                    وَٱلْجِبَالَ أَرْسَىٰهَا
                
                
                
                
                
                    79:32
                    and making the mountains firm:  - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
                
                
                
                
                
                    79:33
                    مَتَـٰعًا لَّكُمْ وَلِأَنْعَـٰمِكُمْ
                
                
                
                
                
                    79:33
                    [all this] as a means of sustenance for you and your animals?  - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
                
                
                
                
                
                    79:34
                    فَإِذَا جَآءَتِ ٱلطَّآمَّةُ ٱلْكُبْرَىٰ
                
                
                
                
                
                    79:34
                    When the great over-whelming event arrives,  - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
                
                
                
                
                
                    79:35
                    يَوْمَ يَتَذَكَّرُ ٱلْإِنسَـٰنُ مَا سَعَىٰ
                
                
                
                
                
                    79:35
                    on the Day that man remembers what he strove for  - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
                
                
                
                
                
                    79:36
                    وَبُرِّزَتِ ٱلْجَحِيمُ لِمَن يَرَىٰ
                
                
                
                
                
                    79:36
                    and Hell is there for all to see,  - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
                
                
                
                
                
                    79:37
                    فَأَمَّا مَن طَغَىٰ
                
                
                
                
                
                    79:37
                    anyone who has acted arrogantly  - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
                
                
                
                
                
                    79:38
                    وَءَاثَرَ ٱلْحَيَوٰةَ ٱلدُّنْيَا
                
                
                
                
                
                    79:38
                    and prefers the life of this world,  - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
                
                
                
                
                
                    79:39
                    فَإِنَّ ٱلْجَحِيمَ هِىَ ٱلْمَأْوَىٰ
                
                
                
                
                
                    79:39
                    will find himself in Hell;  - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
                
                
                
                
                
                    79:40
                    وَأَمَّا مَنْ خَافَ مَقَامَ رَبِّهِۦ وَنَهَى ٱلنَّفْسَ عَنِ ٱلْهَوَىٰ
                
                
                
                
                
                    79:40
                    but one who fears to stand before his Lord and restrained himself from base desires,  - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
                
                
                
                
                
                    79:41
                    فَإِنَّ ٱلْجَنَّةَ هِىَ ٱلْمَأْوَىٰ
                
                
                
                
                
                    79:41
                    shall dwell in Paradise.  - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
                
                
                
                
                
                    79:42
                    يَسْـَٔلُونَكَ عَنِ ٱلسَّاعَةِ أَيَّانَ مُرْسَىٰهَا
                
                
                
                
                
                    79:42
                    They will ask you [Prophet] about the Hour, saying, "When it will come to pass?",  - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
                
                
                
                
                
                    79:43
                    فِيمَ أَنتَ مِن ذِكْرَىٰهَآ
                
                
                
                
                
                    79:43
                    what have you to do with the mentioning of it?  - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
                
                
                
                
                
                    79:44
                    إِلَىٰ رَبِّكَ مُنتَهَىٰهَآ
                
                
                
                
                
                    79:44
                    Your Lord alone knows when it will come;  - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
                
                
                
                
                
                    79:45
                    إِنَّمَآ أَنتَ مُنذِرُ مَن يَخْشَىٰهَا
                
                
                
                
                
                    79:45
                    you are but a warner for those who fear it.  - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
                
                
                
                
                
                    79:46
                    كَأَنَّهُمْ يَوْمَ يَرَوْنَهَا لَمْ يَلْبَثُوٓا۟ إِلَّا عَشِيَّةً أَوْ ضُحَىٰهَا
                
                
                
                
                
                    79:46
                    On the Day when they see it, they will feel as if they had tarried in this world for only one evening or one morning.  - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
