بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.
82:1
إِذَا ٱلسَّمَآءُ ٱنفَطَرَتْ
82:1

وَإِذَا ٱلْكَوَاكِبُ ٱنتَثَرَتْ
82:2

وَإِذَا ٱلْبِحَارُ فُجِّرَتْ

وَإِذَا ٱلْقُبُورُ بُعْثِرَتْ
82:4

عَلِمَتْ نَفْسٌ مَّا قَدَّمَتْ وَأَخَّرَتْ
82:5
then a soul shall know its works, the former and the latter. - A. J. Arberry (English)
82:6
يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلْإِنسَـٰنُ مَا غَرَّكَ بِرَبِّكَ ٱلْكَرِيمِ
82:6
O Man! What deceived thee as to thy generous Lord - A. J. Arberry (English)

ٱلَّذِى خَلَقَكَ فَسَوَّىٰكَ فَعَدَلَكَ
82:7
who created thee and shaped thee and wrought thee in symmetry - A. J. Arberry (English)
82:8
فِىٓ أَىِّ صُورَةٍ مَّا شَآءَ رَكَّبَكَ
82:8
and composed thee after what form He would? - A. J. Arberry (English)
82:9
كَلَّا بَلْ تُكَذِّبُونَ بِٱلدِّينِ
82:9
No indeed; but you cry lies to the Doom; - A. J. Arberry (English)

وَإِنَّ عَلَيْكُمْ لَحَـٰفِظِينَ
82:10
yet there are over you watchers - A. J. Arberry (English)

كِرَامًا كَـٰتِبِينَ
82:11
noble, writers - A. J. Arberry (English)
82:12
يَعْلَمُونَ مَا تَفْعَلُونَ
82:12
who know whatever you do. - A. J. Arberry (English)

إِنَّ ٱلْأَبْرَارَ لَفِى نَعِيمٍ
82:13
Surely the pious shall be in bliss, - A. J. Arberry (English)
82:14
وَإِنَّ ٱلْفُجَّارَ لَفِى جَحِيمٍ
82:14
and the libertines shall be in a fiery furnace - A. J. Arberry (English)
82:15
يَصْلَوْنَهَا يَوْمَ ٱلدِّينِ
82:15
roasting therein on the Day of Doom, - A. J. Arberry (English)

وَمَا هُمْ عَنْهَا بِغَآئِبِينَ
82:16
nor shall they ever be absent from it. - A. J. Arberry (English)

وَمَآ أَدْرَىٰكَ مَا يَوْمُ ٱلدِّينِ
82:17
And what shall teach thee what is the Day of Doom? - A. J. Arberry (English)

ثُمَّ مَآ أَدْرَىٰكَ مَا يَوْمُ ٱلدِّينِ
82:18
Again, what shall teach thee what is the Day of Doom? - A. J. Arberry (English)

يَوْمَ لَا تَمْلِكُ نَفْسٌ لِّنَفْسٍ شَيْـًٔا ۖ وَٱلْأَمْرُ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلَّهِ
82:19
A day when no soul shall possess aught to succour another soul; that day the Command shall belong unto God. - A. J. Arberry (English)
