Transliteration
Wahiduddin Khan
بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.
71:1
إِنَّآ أَرْسَلْنَا نُوحًا إِلَىٰ قَوْمِهِۦٓ أَنْ أَنذِرْ قَوْمَكَ مِن قَبْلِ أَن يَأْتِيَهُمْ عَذَابٌ أَلِيمٌ
71:1
Indeed We sent Nooh towards his people saying that, “Warn your people before the painful punishment comes upon them.” - Ahmed Raza Khan (English)
71:2
قَالَ يَـٰقَوْمِ إِنِّى لَكُمْ نَذِيرٌ مُّبِينٌ
71:2
He said, “O my people! I am indeed a Herald of clear warnings to you.” - Ahmed Raza Khan (English)
71:3
أَنِ ٱعْبُدُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ وَٱتَّقُوهُ وَأَطِيعُونِ
71:3
“That you must worship Allah and fear Him, and obey me.” - Ahmed Raza Khan (English)
71:4
يَغْفِرْ لَكُم مِّن ذُنُوبِكُمْ وَيُؤَخِّرْكُمْ إِلَىٰٓ أَجَلٍ مُّسَمًّى ۚ إِنَّ أَجَلَ ٱللَّهِ إِذَا جَآءَ لَا يُؤَخَّرُ ۖ لَوْ كُنتُمْ تَعْلَمُونَ
71:4
“He will forgive you some of your sins, and give you respite up to an appointed term; indeed the promise of Allah cannot be averted when it arrives; if only you knew.” - Ahmed Raza Khan (English)
71:5
قَالَ رَبِّ إِنِّى دَعَوْتُ قَوْمِى لَيْلًا وَنَهَارًا
71:5
He said, “My Lord! I invited my people night and day.” - Ahmed Raza Khan (English)
71:6
فَلَمْ يَزِدْهُمْ دُعَآءِىٓ إِلَّا فِرَارًا
71:6
“So for them, my calling them increased their fleeing away.” - Ahmed Raza Khan (English)
71:7
وَإِنِّى كُلَّمَا دَعَوْتُهُمْ لِتَغْفِرَ لَهُمْ جَعَلُوٓا۟ أَصَـٰبِعَهُمْ فِىٓ ءَاذَانِهِمْ وَٱسْتَغْشَوْا۟ ثِيَابَهُمْ وَأَصَرُّوا۟ وَٱسْتَكْبَرُوا۟ ٱسْتِكْبَارًا
71:7
“And whenever I called them, so that You may forgive them, they always thrust their fingers into their ears, and covered themselves with their clothes, and remained stubborn and were extremely haughty.” - Ahmed Raza Khan (English)
71:8
ثُمَّ إِنِّى دَعَوْتُهُمْ جِهَارًا
71:8
“I then called them openly.” - Ahmed Raza Khan (English)
71:9
ثُمَّ إِنِّىٓ أَعْلَنتُ لَهُمْ وَأَسْرَرْتُ لَهُمْ إِسْرَارًا
71:9
“Then I also told them publicly and also spoke to them softly in private.” - Ahmed Raza Khan (English)
71:10
فَقُلْتُ ٱسْتَغْفِرُوا۟ رَبَّكُمْ إِنَّهُۥ كَانَ غَفَّارًا
71:10
“I therefore told them, ‘Seek forgiveness from your Lord; He is indeed Most Forgiving.’ - Ahmed Raza Khan (English)
71:11
يُرْسِلِ ٱلسَّمَآءَ عَلَيْكُم مِّدْرَارًا
71:11
‘He will send down abundant rain for you from the sky.’ - Ahmed Raza Khan (English)
71:12
وَيُمْدِدْكُم بِأَمْوَٰلٍ وَبَنِينَ وَيَجْعَل لَّكُمْ جَنَّـٰتٍ وَيَجْعَل لَّكُمْ أَنْهَـٰرًا
71:12
‘And will aid you with wealth and sons, and will create gardens for you and cause rivers to flow for you.’ - Ahmed Raza Khan (English)
71:13
مَّا لَكُمْ لَا تَرْجُونَ لِلَّهِ وَقَارًا
71:13
‘What is the matter with you, that you do not desire honour from Allah?’ - Ahmed Raza Khan (English)
71:14
وَقَدْ خَلَقَكُمْ أَطْوَارًا
71:14
‘Whereas it is He Who created you in different stages?’ - Ahmed Raza Khan (English)
71:15
أَلَمْ تَرَوْا۟ كَيْفَ خَلَقَ ٱللَّهُ سَبْعَ سَمَـٰوَٰتٍ طِبَاقًا
71:15
‘Do you not see how Allah has created the seven heavens atop each other?’ - Ahmed Raza Khan (English)
71:16
وَجَعَلَ ٱلْقَمَرَ فِيهِنَّ نُورًا وَجَعَلَ ٱلشَّمْسَ سِرَاجًا
71:16
‘And in them, has illuminated the moon, and made the sun a lamp?’ - Ahmed Raza Khan (English)
71:17
وَٱللَّهُ أَنۢبَتَكُم مِّنَ ٱلْأَرْضِ نَبَاتًا
71:17
‘And it is Allah Who made you grow like vegetation from the earth.’ - Ahmed Raza Khan (English)
71:18
ثُمَّ يُعِيدُكُمْ فِيهَا وَيُخْرِجُكُمْ إِخْرَاجًا
71:18
‘And He will then take you back to it, and again remove you from it.” - Ahmed Raza Khan (English)
71:19
وَٱللَّهُ جَعَلَ لَكُمُ ٱلْأَرْضَ بِسَاطًا
71:19
‘And it is Allah Who made the earth a bed for you.’ - Ahmed Raza Khan (English)
71:20
لِّتَسْلُكُوا۟ مِنْهَا سُبُلًا فِجَاجًا
71:20
‘So that you may tread the wide roads in it.’” - Ahmed Raza Khan (English)
71:21
قَالَ نُوحٌ رَّبِّ إِنَّهُمْ عَصَوْنِى وَٱتَّبَعُوا۟ مَن لَّمْ يَزِدْهُ مَالُهُۥ وَوَلَدُهُۥٓ إِلَّا خَسَارًا
71:21
Prayed Nooh, “O my Lord! They have disobeyed me, and they follow the one whose wealth and children increase nothing for him except ruin.” - Ahmed Raza Khan (English)
71:22
وَمَكَرُوا۟ مَكْرًا كُبَّارًا
71:22
“And they carried out a very sinister scheme.” - Ahmed Raza Khan (English)
71:23
وَقَالُوا۟ لَا تَذَرُنَّ ءَالِهَتَكُمْ وَلَا تَذَرُنَّ وَدًّا وَلَا سُوَاعًا وَلَا يَغُوثَ وَيَعُوقَ وَنَسْرًا
71:23
“And they said, ‘Do not ever abandon your Gods – and never abandon Wadd, or Suwa – or Yaghuth or Yauq or Nasr.’” - Ahmed Raza Khan (English)
71:24
وَقَدْ أَضَلُّوا۟ كَثِيرًا ۖ وَلَا تَزِدِ ٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَ إِلَّا ضَلَـٰلًا
71:24
“And they have misled a large number; and (I pray that) You increase nothing for the unjust except error.” - Ahmed Raza Khan (English)
71:25
مِّمَّا خَطِيٓـَٔـٰتِهِمْ أُغْرِقُوا۟ فَأُدْخِلُوا۟ نَارًا فَلَمْ يَجِدُوا۟ لَهُم مِّن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ أَنصَارًا
71:25
Because of their sins they were drowned and then put into the fire; so they did not find any supporter for themselves against Allah. (Punishment in the grave is proven by this verse.) - Ahmed Raza Khan (English)
71:26
وَقَالَ نُوحٌ رَّبِّ لَا تَذَرْ عَلَى ٱلْأَرْضِ مِنَ ٱلْكَـٰفِرِينَ دَيَّارًا
71:26
And prayed Nooh, “O my Lord! Do not leave any of the disbelievers dwelling in the land.” - Ahmed Raza Khan (English)
71:27
إِنَّكَ إِن تَذَرْهُمْ يُضِلُّوا۟ عِبَادَكَ وَلَا يَلِدُوٓا۟ إِلَّا فَاجِرًا كَفَّارًا
71:27
“Indeed, if You spare them, they will mislead your bondmen – and their descendants, if any, will be none except the wicked, very ungrateful.” - Ahmed Raza Khan (English)
71:28
رَّبِّ ٱغْفِرْ لِى وَلِوَٰلِدَىَّ وَلِمَن دَخَلَ بَيْتِىَ مُؤْمِنًا وَلِلْمُؤْمِنِينَ وَٱلْمُؤْمِنَـٰتِ وَلَا تَزِدِ ٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَ إِلَّا تَبَارًۢا
71:28
“O my Lord! Forgive me, and my parents, and the believers who are in my house, and all other Muslim men and Muslim women; and do not increase anything for the unjust except ruin.” - Ahmed Raza Khan (English)
