بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.
71:1
إِنَّآ أَرْسَلْنَا نُوحًا إِلَىٰ قَوْمِهِۦٓ أَنْ أَنذِرْ قَوْمَكَ مِن قَبْلِ أَن يَأْتِيَهُمْ عَذَابٌ أَلِيمٌ
71:1
We sent Noah forth to his people, saying, "Warn your people before there comes upon them a grievous punishment." - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
71:2
قَالَ يَـٰقَوْمِ إِنِّى لَكُمْ نَذِيرٌ مُّبِينٌ
71:2
[Noah] said, "My people! I am but a plain warner to you, - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
71:3
أَنِ ٱعْبُدُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ وَٱتَّقُوهُ وَأَطِيعُونِ
71:3
that you should worship God [alone] and be conscious of Him. Pay heed to me. - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
71:4
يَغْفِرْ لَكُم مِّن ذُنُوبِكُمْ وَيُؤَخِّرْكُمْ إِلَىٰٓ أَجَلٍ مُّسَمًّى ۚ إِنَّ أَجَلَ ٱللَّهِ إِذَا جَآءَ لَا يُؤَخَّرُ ۖ لَوْ كُنتُمْ تَعْلَمُونَ
71:4
He will forgive your sins and will grant you respite till an appointed time. When the time appointed by God arrives, it cannot be postponed, if you only knew." - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
71:5
قَالَ رَبِّ إِنِّى دَعَوْتُ قَوْمِى لَيْلًا وَنَهَارًا
71:5
He said, "My Lord! I have called my people night and day - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
71:6
فَلَمْ يَزِدْهُمْ دُعَآءِىٓ إِلَّا فِرَارًا
71:6
but my pleas have only increased their aversion. - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
71:7
وَإِنِّى كُلَّمَا دَعَوْتُهُمْ لِتَغْفِرَ لَهُمْ جَعَلُوٓا۟ أَصَـٰبِعَهُمْ فِىٓ ءَاذَانِهِمْ وَٱسْتَغْشَوْا۟ ثِيَابَهُمْ وَأَصَرُّوا۟ وَٱسْتَكْبَرُوا۟ ٱسْتِكْبَارًا
71:7
Every time I have called to them, so that You might forgive them, they have only thrust their fingers into their ears, covered themselves up with their garments, grown obstinate, and given themselves up to arrogance. - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
71:8
ثُمَّ إِنِّى دَعَوْتُهُمْ جِهَارًا
71:8
Then I called them openly, - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
71:9
ثُمَّ إِنِّىٓ أَعْلَنتُ لَهُمْ وَأَسْرَرْتُ لَهُمْ إِسْرَارًا
71:9
and spoke to them in public and in private." - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
71:10
فَقُلْتُ ٱسْتَغْفِرُوا۟ رَبَّكُمْ إِنَّهُۥ كَانَ غَفَّارًا
71:10
Then I said, "Ask forgiveness of your Lord. Surely He is the most forgiving. - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
71:11
يُرْسِلِ ٱلسَّمَآءَ عَلَيْكُم مِّدْرَارًا
71:11
He will send down abundant rain from the sky for you, - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
71:12
وَيُمْدِدْكُم بِأَمْوَٰلٍ وَبَنِينَ وَيَجْعَل لَّكُمْ جَنَّـٰتٍ وَيَجْعَل لَّكُمْ أَنْهَـٰرًا
71:12
increase your wealth and sons; and grant you gardens and waterways. - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
71:13
مَّا لَكُمْ لَا تَرْجُونَ لِلَّهِ وَقَارًا
71:13
What is the matter with you that you deny the greatness of God, - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
71:14
وَقَدْ خَلَقَكُمْ أَطْوَارًا
71:14
when He has created you through different stages of existence? - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
71:15
أَلَمْ تَرَوْا۟ كَيْفَ خَلَقَ ٱللَّهُ سَبْعَ سَمَـٰوَٰتٍ طِبَاقًا
71:15
Do you not see how God has created the seven heavens one above another, - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
71:16
وَجَعَلَ ٱلْقَمَرَ فِيهِنَّ نُورًا وَجَعَلَ ٱلشَّمْسَ سِرَاجًا
71:16
and made the moon therein a light, and made the sun a lamp, - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
71:17
وَٱللَّهُ أَنۢبَتَكُم مِّنَ ٱلْأَرْضِ نَبَاتًا
71:17
how God has produced you from the earth and caused you to grow, - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
71:18
ثُمَّ يُعِيدُكُمْ فِيهَا وَيُخْرِجُكُمْ إِخْرَاجًا
71:18
how He will then return you to it and bring you forth again, - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
71:19
وَٱللَّهُ جَعَلَ لَكُمُ ٱلْأَرْضَ بِسَاطًا
71:19
how God has spread the earth out for you - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
71:20
لِّتَسْلُكُوا۟ مِنْهَا سُبُلًا فِجَاجًا
71:20
so that you may walk along its spacious paths?" - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
71:21
قَالَ نُوحٌ رَّبِّ إِنَّهُمْ عَصَوْنِى وَٱتَّبَعُوا۟ مَن لَّمْ يَزِدْهُ مَالُهُۥ وَوَلَدُهُۥٓ إِلَّا خَسَارًا
71:21
Noah supplicated, "Lord, they have disobeyed me, and followed those whose wealth and children have only added to their ruin; - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
71:22
وَمَكَرُوا۟ مَكْرًا كُبَّارًا
71:22
and they have hatched a mighty plot, - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
71:23
وَقَالُوا۟ لَا تَذَرُنَّ ءَالِهَتَكُمْ وَلَا تَذَرُنَّ وَدًّا وَلَا سُوَاعًا وَلَا يَغُوثَ وَيَعُوقَ وَنَسْرًا
71:23
and they said [to their followers], "Do not ever abandon your deities: abandon neither Wadd, nor Suwa', and neither Yaghuth, nor Yauq nor Nasr!" - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
71:24
وَقَدْ أَضَلُّوا۟ كَثِيرًا ۖ وَلَا تَزِدِ ٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَ إِلَّا ضَلَـٰلًا
71:24
They have led many astray; so lead the wrongdoers to further error." - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
71:25
مِّمَّا خَطِيٓـَٔـٰتِهِمْ أُغْرِقُوا۟ فَأُدْخِلُوا۟ نَارًا فَلَمْ يَجِدُوا۟ لَهُم مِّن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ أَنصَارًا
71:25
They were drowned and sent to Hell for their misdeeds; they found no one to help them against God. - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
71:26
وَقَالَ نُوحٌ رَّبِّ لَا تَذَرْ عَلَى ٱلْأَرْضِ مِنَ ٱلْكَـٰفِرِينَ دَيَّارًا
71:26
Noah prayed, "O my Lord! Do not leave on earth a single one of those who deny the truth -- - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
71:27
إِنَّكَ إِن تَذَرْهُمْ يُضِلُّوا۟ عِبَادَكَ وَلَا يَلِدُوٓا۟ إِلَّا فَاجِرًا كَفَّارًا
71:27
if You leave any, they will misguide Your servants, and they will beget none but sinners and deniers of truth -- - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
71:28
رَّبِّ ٱغْفِرْ لِى وَلِوَٰلِدَىَّ وَلِمَن دَخَلَ بَيْتِىَ مُؤْمِنًا وَلِلْمُؤْمِنِينَ وَٱلْمُؤْمِنَـٰتِ وَلَا تَزِدِ ٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَ إِلَّا تَبَارًۢا
71:28
Lord! Forgive me and my parents and every true believer who enters my house, forgive all the believing men and believing women; and bestow no increase upon the wrongdoers except in ruin? - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
