Transliteration
Wahiduddin Khan
بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.
38:1
صٓ ۚ وَٱلْقُرْءَانِ ذِى ٱلذِّكْرِ
38:1
Sad. By the Qur'an full of admonition. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
38:2
بَلِ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ فِى عِزَّةٍ وَشِقَاقٍ
38:2
Verily those who disbelieve are in vainglory and shism. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
38:3
كَمْ أَهْلَكْنَا مِن قَبْلِهِم مِّن قَرْنٍ فَنَادَوا۟ وَّلَاتَ حِينَ مَنَاصٍ
38:3
How many a generation have We destroyed afore them, and they cried when there was not time of fleeing. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
38:4
وَعَجِبُوٓا۟ أَن جَآءَهُم مُّنذِرٌ مِّنْهُمْ ۖ وَقَالَ ٱلْكَـٰفِرُونَ هَـٰذَا سَـٰحِرٌ كَذَّابٌ
38:4
And they marvel that there should come Unto them a warner from among themselves. And the infidels say: this is a magician and a liar! - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
38:5
أَجَعَلَ ٱلْـَٔالِهَةَ إِلَـٰهًا وَٰحِدًا ۖ إِنَّ هَـٰذَا لَشَىْءٌ عُجَابٌ
38:5
Maketh he the gods One God? Verily that is a thing astounding! - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
38:6
وَٱنطَلَقَ ٱلْمَلَأُ مِنْهُمْ أَنِ ٱمْشُوا۟ وَٱصْبِرُوا۟ عَلَىٰٓ ءَالِهَتِكُمْ ۖ إِنَّ هَـٰذَا لَشَىْءٌ يُرَادُ
38:6
The chiefs among them departed saying: go, and persevere in your gods; verily this is a thing designed. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
38:7
مَا سَمِعْنَا بِهَـٰذَا فِى ٱلْمِلَّةِ ٱلْـَٔاخِرَةِ إِنْ هَـٰذَآ إِلَّا ٱخْتِلَـٰقٌ
38:7
We heard not thereof in the later faith; this is naught but an invention. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
38:8
أَءُنزِلَ عَلَيْهِ ٱلذِّكْرُ مِنۢ بَيْنِنَا ۚ بَلْ هُمْ فِى شَكٍّ مِّن ذِكْرِى ۖ بَل لَّمَّا يَذُوقُوا۟ عَذَابِ
38:8
Hath Unto him the admonition been sent down from amongst us! Yea! they are in doubt concerning My admonition. Yea! they have not yet tasted My torment. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
38:9
أَمْ عِندَهُمْ خَزَآئِنُ رَحْمَةِ رَبِّكَ ٱلْعَزِيزِ ٱلْوَهَّابِ
38:9
Or, are with them the treasures of the mercy of thy Lord, the Bestower? - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
38:10
أَمْ لَهُم مُّلْكُ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَا ۖ فَلْيَرْتَقُوا۟ فِى ٱلْأَسْبَـٰبِ
38:10
Or, is theirs the dominion of the heavens and the earth and that which is in-between the twain? If so, let them ascend by steps. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
38:11
جُندٌ مَّا هُنَالِكَ مَهْزُومٌ مِّنَ ٱلْأَحْزَابِ
38:11
Here there is a host of the confederates only to be defeated. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
38:12
كَذَّبَتْ قَبْلَهُمْ قَوْمُ نُوحٍ وَعَادٌ وَفِرْعَوْنُ ذُو ٱلْأَوْتَادِ
38:12
Before them there have belied the people of Nuh and the 'Aad, and Fir'awn the owner of the stakes. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
38:13
وَثَمُودُ وَقَوْمُ لُوطٍ وَأَصْحَـٰبُ لْـَٔيْكَةِ ۚ أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ ٱلْأَحْزَابُ
38:13
And the Thamud, and the people of Lut, and the dwellers of the wood; these were the confederates. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
38:14
إِن كُلٌّ إِلَّا كَذَّبَ ٱلرُّسُلَ فَحَقَّ عِقَابِ
38:14
There was not one but belied the apostles, wherefore justified was My wrath. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
38:15
وَمَا يَنظُرُ هَـٰٓؤُلَآءِ إِلَّا صَيْحَةً وَٰحِدَةً مَّا لَهَا مِن فَوَاقٍ
38:15
And these wait but for one shout, wherefrom there will be no deferment. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
38:16
وَقَالُوا۟ رَبَّنَا عَجِّل لَّنَا قِطَّنَا قَبْلَ يَوْمِ ٱلْحِسَابِ
38:16
And they say: our Lord! hasten our portion unto us before the Day of Reckoning - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
38:17
ٱصْبِرْ عَلَىٰ مَا يَقُولُونَ وَٱذْكُرْ عَبْدَنَا دَاوُۥدَ ذَا ٱلْأَيْدِ ۖ إِنَّهُۥٓ أَوَّابٌ
38:17
Bear thou with that which they say, and remember Our bondman, Da-ud, endured with strength; verily he was oft-returning onto Us. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
38:18
إِنَّا سَخَّرْنَا ٱلْجِبَالَ مَعَهُۥ يُسَبِّحْنَ بِٱلْعَشِىِّ وَٱلْإِشْرَاقِ
38:18
Verily We so subjected the mountains that they should hallow Us with him at nightfall and sunrise. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
38:19
وَٱلطَّيْرَ مَحْشُورَةً ۖ كُلٌّ لَّهُۥٓ أَوَّابٌ
38:19
And the birds also, gathering all oft-returning onto Him on his account. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
38:20
وَشَدَدْنَا مُلْكَهُۥ وَءَاتَيْنَـٰهُ ٱلْحِكْمَةَ وَفَصْلَ ٱلْخِطَابِ
38:20
And We made his dominion strong and vouchsafed him wisdom and decisive speech. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
38:21
۞ وَهَلْ أَتَىٰكَ نَبَؤُا۟ ٱلْخَصْمِ إِذْ تَسَوَّرُوا۟ ٱلْمِحْرَابَ
38:21
And hath the tidings of the contending parties reached thee, when they walled the apartment? - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
38:22
إِذْ دَخَلُوا۟ عَلَىٰ دَاوُۥدَ فَفَزِعَ مِنْهُمْ ۖ قَالُوا۟ لَا تَخَفْ ۖ خَصْمَانِ بَغَىٰ بَعْضُنَا عَلَىٰ بَعْضٍ فَٱحْكُم بَيْنَنَا بِٱلْحَقِّ وَلَا تُشْطِطْ وَٱهْدِنَآ إِلَىٰ سَوَآءِ ٱلصِّرَٰطِ
38:22
When they went in unto Da-ud, he was frightened at them. They said: fear not we are two contending parties; one of us hath oppressed the other, so judge between us with truth, and be not iniquitious, and guide us unto the even path. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
38:23
إِنَّ هَـٰذَآ أَخِى لَهُۥ تِسْعٌ وَتِسْعُونَ نَعْجَةً وَلِىَ نَعْجَةٌ وَٰحِدَةٌ فَقَالَ أَكْفِلْنِيهَا وَعَزَّنِى فِى ٱلْخِطَابِ
38:23
Verily this my brother hath nine and ninety ewes while I have one ewe; and he saith: entrust it to me, and he hath prevailed upon me in speech. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
38:24
قَالَ لَقَدْ ظَلَمَكَ بِسُؤَالِ نَعْجَتِكَ إِلَىٰ نِعَاجِهِۦ ۖ وَإِنَّ كَثِيرًا مِّنَ ٱلْخُلَطَآءِ لَيَبْغِى بَعْضُهُمْ عَلَىٰ بَعْضٍ إِلَّا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَعَمِلُوا۟ ٱلصَّـٰلِحَـٰتِ وَقَلِيلٌ مَّا هُمْ ۗ وَظَنَّ دَاوُۥدُ أَنَّمَا فَتَنَّـٰهُ فَٱسْتَغْفَرَ رَبَّهُۥ وَخَرَّ رَاكِعًا وَأَنَابَ ۩
38:24
Da-ud said: assuredly he hath wronged thee in demanding thine ewe in addition to his ewes, and verily many of the partners oppress each other save such as believe and work righteous works, and few are they. And Da-ud imagined that We had tried him; so he asked forgiveness of his Lord, and he fell down bowing and turned in penitence. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
38:25
فَغَفَرْنَا لَهُۥ ذَٰلِكَ ۖ وَإِنَّ لَهُۥ عِندَنَا لَزُلْفَىٰ وَحُسْنَ مَـَٔابٍ
38:25
So We forgave him that; and verily for him is an approach with us, and a happy retreat. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
38:26
يَـٰدَاوُۥدُ إِنَّا جَعَلْنَـٰكَ خَلِيفَةً فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ فَٱحْكُم بَيْنَ ٱلنَّاسِ بِٱلْحَقِّ وَلَا تَتَّبِعِ ٱلْهَوَىٰ فَيُضِلَّكَ عَن سَبِيلِ ٱللَّهِ ۚ إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ يَضِلُّونَ عَن سَبِيلِ ٱللَّهِ لَهُمْ عَذَابٌ شَدِيدٌۢ بِمَا نَسُوا۟ يَوْمَ ٱلْحِسَابِ
38:26
O Da-ud! verily We have appointed thee a vicegerent in the earth, so judge between mankind with truth, and follow not desire, lest it cause thee to err from the path of Allah. Verily those who err from the path of Allah - Unto them shall be a severe torment, for they forgat the Day of Reckoning. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
38:27
وَمَا خَلَقْنَا ٱلسَّمَآءَ وَٱلْأَرْضَ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَا بَـٰطِلًا ۚ ذَٰلِكَ ظَنُّ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ ۚ فَوَيْلٌ لِّلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ مِنَ ٱلنَّارِ
38:27
And We have not created the heaven and the earth and whatsoever is in-between the twain in vain." That is the opinion of those who disbelieve. And woe Unto those who disbelieve the Fire." - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
38:28
أَمْ نَجْعَلُ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَعَمِلُوا۟ ٱلصَّـٰلِحَـٰتِ كَٱلْمُفْسِدِينَ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ أَمْ نَجْعَلُ ٱلْمُتَّقِينَ كَٱلْفُجَّارِ
38:28
Shall We make those who believe and work righteous works I i ke Unto the corrupters in the earth; Or Shall We make the God-fearing like Unto the wicked! - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
38:29
كِتَـٰبٌ أَنزَلْنَـٰهُ إِلَيْكَ مُبَـٰرَكٌ لِّيَدَّبَّرُوٓا۟ ءَايَـٰتِهِۦ وَلِيَتَذَكَّرَ أُو۟لُوا۟ ٱلْأَلْبَـٰبِ
38:29
This is a Book We have sent down Unto thee, blest, that they may ponder the revelations thereof, and that there may be admonished men of understanding. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
38:30
وَوَهَبْنَا لِدَاوُۥدَ سُلَيْمَـٰنَ ۚ نِعْمَ ٱلْعَبْدُ ۖ إِنَّهُۥٓ أَوَّابٌ
38:30
And We vouchsafed Unto Da-ud Sulaiman. How excellent a bondman! j Verily he was oft-returning.' - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
38:31
إِذْ عُرِضَ عَلَيْهِ بِٱلْعَشِىِّ ٱلصَّـٰفِنَـٰتُ ٱلْجِيَادُ
38:31
Recall what time there were presented Unto him, at eventide, s coursers swift-footed. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
38:32
فَقَالَ إِنِّىٓ أَحْبَبْتُ حُبَّ ٱلْخَيْرِ عَن ذِكْرِ رَبِّى حَتَّىٰ تَوَارَتْ بِٱلْحِجَابِ
38:32
He said: verily I have loved the love of earthly good above the remembrance of my Lord until the sun hath disappeared behind the veil. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
38:33
رُدُّوهَا عَلَىَّ ۖ فَطَفِقَ مَسْحًۢا بِٱلسُّوقِ وَٱلْأَعْنَاقِ
38:33
Bring them back Unto me; and he set about slashing their legs and necks. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
38:34
وَلَقَدْ فَتَنَّا سُلَيْمَـٰنَ وَأَلْقَيْنَا عَلَىٰ كُرْسِيِّهِۦ جَسَدًا ثُمَّ أَنَابَ
38:34
And assuredly We tried Sulaiman, and set upon his throne a mere body. Thereafter he was penitent. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
38:35
قَالَ رَبِّ ٱغْفِرْ لِى وَهَبْ لِى مُلْكًا لَّا يَنۢبَغِى لِأَحَدٍ مِّنۢ بَعْدِىٓ ۖ إِنَّكَ أَنتَ ٱلْوَهَّابُ
38:35
He said: my Lord! forgive me, and bestow on me a dominion which no one may obtain beside me: verily Thou! Thou art the Bestower. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
38:36
فَسَخَّرْنَا لَهُ ٱلرِّيحَ تَجْرِى بِأَمْرِهِۦ رُخَآءً حَيْثُ أَصَابَ
38:36
Then We subjected to him the wind: it ran gently by his command withersoever he directed. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
38:37
وَٱلشَّيَـٰطِينَ كُلَّ بَنَّآءٍ وَغَوَّاصٍ
38:37
And We subjected to him the evil ones: every builder and diver. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
38:38
وَءَاخَرِينَ مُقَرَّنِينَ فِى ٱلْأَصْفَادِ
38:38
And others bound in fetters. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
38:39
هَـٰذَا عَطَآؤُنَا فَٱمْنُنْ أَوْ أَمْسِكْ بِغَيْرِ حِسَابٍ
38:39
This is Our gift, SO bestow thou or withhold, without rendering an account. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
38:40
وَإِنَّ لَهُۥ عِندَنَا لَزُلْفَىٰ وَحُسْنَ مَـَٔابٍ
38:40
And verily for him is an approach with us, and a happy end. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
38:41
وَٱذْكُرْ عَبْدَنَآ أَيُّوبَ إِذْ نَادَىٰ رَبَّهُۥٓ أَنِّى مَسَّنِىَ ٱلشَّيْطَـٰنُ بِنُصْبٍ وَعَذَابٍ
38:41
And remember thou Our bondman Ayyub, what time he cried Unto his Lord: verily the Satan hath touched me with affliction and suffering. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
38:42
ٱرْكُضْ بِرِجْلِكَ ۖ هَـٰذَا مُغْتَسَلٌۢ بَارِدٌ وَشَرَابٌ
38:42
Stamp the ground with thy foot. yonder is water to wash in, cool, and water to drink. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
38:43
وَوَهَبْنَا لَهُۥٓ أَهْلَهُۥ وَمِثْلَهُم مَّعَهُمْ رَحْمَةً مِّنَّا وَذِكْرَىٰ لِأُو۟لِى ٱلْأَلْبَـٰبِ
38:43
And We bestowed on him his household and along with them the like thereof, out of mercy from us, and a remembrance Unto men of understanding. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
38:44
وَخُذْ بِيَدِكَ ضِغْثًا فَٱضْرِب بِّهِۦ وَلَا تَحْنَثْ ۗ إِنَّا وَجَدْنَـٰهُ صَابِرًا ۚ نِّعْمَ ٱلْعَبْدُ ۖ إِنَّهُۥٓ أَوَّابٌ
38:44
And take in thine hand a handful of twigs, and strike therewith, and break not thine oath. Verily We! We found him patient. How excellent a bondman! Verily he was oft-returning. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
38:45
وَٱذْكُرْ عِبَـٰدَنَآ إِبْرَٰهِيمَ وَإِسْحَـٰقَ وَيَعْقُوبَ أُو۟لِى ٱلْأَيْدِى وَٱلْأَبْصَـٰرِ
38:45
And remember thou Our bond men, Ibrahim and Is-haq and Ya'qub. owners of might ana insight. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
38:46
إِنَّآ أَخْلَصْنَـٰهُم بِخَالِصَةٍ ذِكْرَى ٱلدَّارِ
38:46
Verily We! We distinguished them with a distinct quality: the remembrance of the Abode. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
38:47
وَإِنَّهُمْ عِندَنَا لَمِنَ ٱلْمُصْطَفَيْنَ ٱلْأَخْيَارِ
38:47
And verily they are with us of the elect of the excellent ones - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
38:48
وَٱذْكُرْ إِسْمَـٰعِيلَ وَٱلْيَسَعَ وَذَا ٱلْكِفْلِ ۖ وَكُلٌّ مِّنَ ٱلْأَخْيَارِ
38:48
And remember Isma'il and Al-Yas'a and Zul-kifl: all of the excellent ones. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
38:49
هَـٰذَا ذِكْرٌ ۚ وَإِنَّ لِلْمُتَّقِينَ لَحُسْنَ مَـَٔابٍ
38:49
This is an admonition, and verily for the God-feoring is a happy retreat: - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
38:50
جَنَّـٰتِ عَدْنٍ مُّفَتَّحَةً لَّهُمُ ٱلْأَبْوَٰبُ
38:50
Gardens Everlasting, whereof the portals remain opened for them. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
38:51
مُتَّكِـِٔينَ فِيهَا يَدْعُونَ فِيهَا بِفَـٰكِهَةٍ كَثِيرَةٍ وَشَرَابٍ
38:51
Therein they will recline; therein they will call for plenteous fruit and drink. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
38:52
۞ وَعِندَهُمْ قَـٰصِرَٰتُ ٱلطَّرْفِ أَتْرَابٌ
38:52
And with them will be virgins of refraining looks and of equal age. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
38:53
هَـٰذَا مَا تُوعَدُونَ لِيَوْمِ ٱلْحِسَابِ
38:53
This it is that ye are promised for the Day of Reckoning. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
38:54
إِنَّ هَـٰذَا لَرِزْقُنَا مَا لَهُۥ مِن نَّفَادٍ
38:54
Verily this is Our provision: there will be no ceasing thereof. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
38:55
هَـٰذَا ۚ وَإِنَّ لِلطَّـٰغِينَ لَشَرَّ مَـَٔابٍ
38:55
This: and verily for the exorbitant there shall be an evil retreat: - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
38:56
جَهَنَّمَ يَصْلَوْنَهَا فَبِئْسَ ٱلْمِهَادُ
38:56
Hell, wherein they roast: a wretched couch. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
38:57
هَـٰذَا فَلْيَذُوقُوهُ حَمِيمٌ وَغَسَّاقٌ
38:57
This - let them taste it: scalding water and corruption. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
38:58
وَءَاخَرُ مِن شَكْلِهِۦٓ أَزْوَٰجٌ
38:58
And other torments, like thereof, conjoined. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
38:59
هَـٰذَا فَوْجٌ مُّقْتَحِمٌ مَّعَكُمْ ۖ لَا مَرْحَبًۢا بِهِمْ ۚ إِنَّهُمْ صَالُوا۟ ٱلنَّارِ
38:59
This is a crowd rushing in along with you; no welcome for them; verily they are to roast in the Fire. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
38:60
قَالُوا۟ بَلْ أَنتُمْ لَا مَرْحَبًۢا بِكُمْ ۖ أَنتُمْ قَدَّمْتُمُوهُ لَنَا ۖ فَبِئْسَ ٱلْقَرَارُ
38:60
They will say nay! it is ye, for whom there is no welcome: it is ye who have brought it upon us. Evil shall be the resting-place. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
38:61
قَالُوا۟ رَبَّنَا مَن قَدَّمَ لَنَا هَـٰذَا فَزِدْهُ عَذَابًا ضِعْفًا فِى ٱلنَّارِ
38:61
They Will say: our Lord! whosever hath brought this upon us, - Unto him increase doubly the torment of the Fire. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
38:62
وَقَالُوا۟ مَا لَنَا لَا نَرَىٰ رِجَالًا كُنَّا نَعُدُّهُم مِّنَ ٱلْأَشْرَارِ
38:62
And they will Say: what aileth us that we behold not men whom we were wont to count among the evil ones? - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
38:63
أَتَّخَذْنَـٰهُمْ سِخْرِيًّا أَمْ زَاغَتْ عَنْهُمُ ٱلْأَبْصَـٰرُ
38:63
Took we them so unjustly for a butt of mockery, or are they deluding our eyes? - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
38:64
إِنَّ ذَٰلِكَ لَحَقٌّ تَخَاصُمُ أَهْلِ ٱلنَّارِ
38:64
Verily this is the very truth: the wrangling of the fellows of the Fire! - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
38:65
قُلْ إِنَّمَآ أَنَا۠ مُنذِرٌ ۖ وَمَا مِنْ إِلَـٰهٍ إِلَّا ٱللَّهُ ٱلْوَٰحِدُ ٱلْقَهَّارُ
38:65
Say thou: I am but warner, and there is no god but Allah, the One, the Subduer. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
38:66
رَبُّ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَا ٱلْعَزِيزُ ٱلْغَفَّـٰرُ
38:66
Lord of the heavens and the earth and whatsoever is in- between the twain, the Mighty, the Forgiver. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
38:67
قُلْ هُوَ نَبَؤٌا۟ عَظِيمٌ
38:67
Say thou: it is a tiding mighty. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
38:68
أَنتُمْ عَنْهُ مُعْرِضُونَ
38:68

38:69
مَا كَانَ لِىَ مِنْ عِلْمٍۭ بِٱلْمَلَإِ ٱلْأَعْلَىٰٓ إِذْ يَخْتَصِمُونَ
38:69
I had no knowledge of the chiefs on high when they disputed; - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
38:70
إِن يُوحَىٰٓ إِلَىَّ إِلَّآ أَنَّمَآ أَنَا۠ نَذِيرٌ مُّبِينٌ
38:70
Naught is revealed Unto me except that I am a warner manifest. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
38:71
إِذْ قَالَ رَبُّكَ لِلْمَلَـٰٓئِكَةِ إِنِّى خَـٰلِقٌۢ بَشَرًا مِّن طِينٍ
38:71
Recall what time thy Lord said Unto the angels: verily I am about to create a human being from clay; - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
38:72
فَإِذَا سَوَّيْتُهُۥ وَنَفَخْتُ فِيهِ مِن رُّوحِى فَقَعُوا۟ لَهُۥ سَـٰجِدِينَ
38:72
Then when I have formed him and breathed into him of My spirit, fall down before him prostrate. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
38:73
فَسَجَدَ ٱلْمَلَـٰٓئِكَةُ كُلُّهُمْ أَجْمَعُونَ
38:73
The angels prostrated themselves, all of them. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
38:74
إِلَّآ إِبْلِيسَ ٱسْتَكْبَرَ وَكَانَ مِنَ ٱلْكَـٰفِرِينَ
38:74
Not so lblis. He grew stiffnecked and became of the infidels. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
38:75
قَالَ يَـٰٓإِبْلِيسُ مَا مَنَعَكَ أَن تَسْجُدَ لِمَا خَلَقْتُ بِيَدَىَّ ۖ أَسْتَكْبَرْتَ أَمْ كُنتَ مِنَ ٱلْعَالِينَ
38:75
Allah said: O Iblis! what preventeth thee from prostrating thyself before that which have created with both my hands? Becomest thou stiff-necked, or art thou of the exalted ones? - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
38:76
قَالَ أَنَا۠ خَيْرٌ مِّنْهُ ۖ خَلَقْتَنِى مِن نَّارٍ وَخَلَقْتَهُۥ مِن طِينٍ
38:76
He said: I am better than he: me Thou hast created of fire, and him Thou hast created of clay. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
38:77
قَالَ فَٱخْرُجْ مِنْهَا فَإِنَّكَ رَجِيمٌ
38:77
Allah said: get thee forth therefrom verify thou art driven away. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
38:78
وَإِنَّ عَلَيْكَ لَعْنَتِىٓ إِلَىٰ يَوْمِ ٱلدِّينِ
38:78
And verily My curse shall be on thee till the Day of Requital, - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
38:79
قَالَ رَبِّ فَأَنظِرْنِىٓ إِلَىٰ يَوْمِ يُبْعَثُونَ
38:79
He said: my Lord! respite me till the Day whereon they are raised up. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
38:80
قَالَ فَإِنَّكَ مِنَ ٱلْمُنظَرِينَ
38:80
Allah said: verily, thou art of those respited. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
38:81
إِلَىٰ يَوْمِ ٱلْوَقْتِ ٱلْمَعْلُومِ
38:81
Until the Day of the time appointed. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
38:82
قَالَ فَبِعِزَّتِكَ لَأُغْوِيَنَّهُمْ أَجْمَعِينَ
38:82
He said: by Thy majesty, then, I shall surely seduce them, all. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
38:83
إِلَّا عِبَادَكَ مِنْهُمُ ٱلْمُخْلَصِينَ
38:83
Save Thy bondmen among them Sincere. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
38:84
قَالَ فَٱلْحَقُّ وَٱلْحَقَّ أَقُولُ
38:84
Allah said: the truth is, and it is the truth that I speak, - - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
38:85
لَأَمْلَأَنَّ جَهَنَّمَ مِنكَ وَمِمَّن تَبِعَكَ مِنْهُمْ أَجْمَعِينَ
38:85
That I shall fill Hell with thee and such of them as shall follow thee, all together. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
38:86
قُلْ مَآ أَسْـَٔلُكُمْ عَلَيْهِ مِنْ أَجْرٍ وَمَآ أَنَا۠ مِنَ ٱلْمُتَكَلِّفِينَ
38:86
Say thou: ask of you for it no hire, nor am I of the affecters. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)

إِنْ هُوَ إِلَّا ذِكْرٌ لِّلْعَـٰلَمِينَ
38:87
It is naught but an admonition Unto the worlds. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)

وَلَتَعْلَمُنَّ نَبَأَهُۥ بَعْدَ حِينٍۭ
38:88
And ye shall surely come to know the truth thereof after a season. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
